In the meanwhile, Rovers is showing potential to be a Div 1 playoff contender with winning their 4th match in the season. While Mil Panthers continuing their dream run in Div 2 with 6 wins in a row, while Hammond created a upset beating QC Kings. In 30-30, NightHowlers beat Hawks to be the #1 team again. While 20-20 had a very close encounter between Flames and Chargers with Flames winning by 3 runs at the end.

Selection committee consisted of five members from different teams, myself, Sadiq, Madhu, Ajit and Naveed. It was always going to be tough call between few members. We went with basic voting system whenever we had conflicting opinions about any particular player. But I just want to let everybody know that we have tried our best to be fair and have considered past performance, present performance, skills, age, fitness, all round abilities (bat and ball), variety and the USACA requirements of Nationals and Open Category players.
As far as away team players are concerned we have to be practical as to whether they need to attend trials or not. It is very much understood that there is no point in checking skill levels of someone like Asif or Sohail. But somebody like Hans Raj who none of the selectors have seen, it was very much important for him to attend one of the trials to show his abilities, which he did and we very much appreciate his efforts. The attendance was always more relevant with Chicagoland players as to show respect to the rules and other MWCC members.
There were quite a few close calls and again I can assure only few players made the list without any debate.
Mehul,
I respect you as cricketer, I'm not going to question your thought process but process is flawed. Doesn't make any sense.
Where is Shahid, Yousaf, Ashaar, Laxmi, Kabir, Bakshi etc. from last couple years. If they didn't show up - did you need to see their skill. If Romesh, Sankar, Nasir etc. can make into team then above mentioned guys should be automatic choice.
I would like to know what happened to Ravi and Dinesh - if you talk about numbers/stats. If you talk about experience and fitness there is no fittest cricketer in this league then Shahid, Yousaf & Ashhar. You tell me if I'm wrong here. So, criterion is flawed. We knew TA criterion - vague, personal relationship and his judgement. Seems like that was much better criterion. Do you agree? He picked the team based on his guts!
I want to hear from other selectors too. This process is not that robust at all. Seems like lot of favoritism.
Two peoria guys are in but Jolly Rovers guys are out - Madhu any comment?
What happened to Sohail Alvi. Does his current performance below par? Century, 50+ etc. this season. Past performance is still there, experience is there. Still fit - if one can score 100 then he is fit. Am I wrong here?
Let's talk about it :)
Shuaib, what happened to your team (AAA) alrounder. I'm forgetting his name - oh yeah I got it --- Ikram Patel. Good young cricketer, better then injured players. Nasir is not going to able to survive one game. I can bet you, you will see! Ikran can field and bowl three day. Also, he can bat. Do you agree Sadiq Baba?
Naren and Aditya I would like to hear your comments on this selection too. There are few players you are not going to question their talent but don't tell me "we follwed a process". THERE ARE PLAYERS ON THIS ROASTER WHO DIDN'T SHOW UP FOR TRIALS. What was the purpose of having six or more trial session but still select players who don't show up?
Keep Blogging!

You guys are bunch of craps who are trying to sell your fairness and justice to the league that you were all impartial and fair in making the team. The criteria you gave us "present performance, skills, age, fitness, all round abilities (bat and ball), variety and the USACA requirements of Nationals and Open Category players." are all belony.
You could not justify your criteria to these candidates who showed their performance in this season like Ikram Patel, Ravi Patel, Dinesh and after all experienced over the years Sohail Alvi at this age who is still better than some of the names you put it on your team. I think this guy was ok from PM. You should not eject him because of his age and the affiliation with the prior management. It seems like that you hate him that much that you never bother to put his name under reserve or unavailable for Selection list. What about Talha Mohsin he is another great young candidate who can be groomed for Midwest future.
I am disappointed that you put these players with no reason Romesh, Bhavesh, Sachin, faisal, and Nilesh. There are better players who can be replaced with them.
I think the selection committee has done an exceptional job in defining a process and following through. Every process that you follow, someone will find a flaw in it. There are no fool proof methods, but we can start defining a process and that's what the selection committe has done. To be on this committee probably is the hardest job one could imagine. These guys get it from all angles. I think before we start asking the slection comittee about certain players, I suggest to you that you should ask the player as to why he did not show up or did not get selected. I am sure you will find out that the names that have been mentioned and did not appear on the CER list, they were left out for a reason. Some of them prefered to participate in Diversity cup instead of CER. Some of them felt they are not physically capable of playing three 50 over games in three days and therefore withdrew. Do your due diligence before you ask questions.
Mr. Blogger
I think the selection committee did an awesome job and for Ikram not being selected is part of the process. He just has to improve and be consistent and show that he is one of the best players in the league. As for the traveling teams coming to Chicago and complaining, that is part of the game. Many Chicago Land teams travel and have to come back some times because of bad ground conditions or play through horrible ground conditions. This shows traveling teams what Chicago Land teams go through 4 or more times a year.
Karachi vs. AAA
It was a really good game. Kudos to Karachi Cricket Club since they won the game easily. One player that really caught me by surprise was the opening bowler for them by the name of Asad Majeed. I think he is one of the best bowlers in the league. He bowled exceptionally well against AAA and from my perspective single handedly won the game for Karachi. This is one player that I believe will make it to the CER team in the future and if he improves his batting, he can be a great all rounder.Lets lighten up the blog guys. Make some predictions for the weekend after 4th of July
Shuaib Menk
Blogger: I am not part of the management or the selection group of CER, so I do not know anything about that process my friend.
I agree that they might have picked a few better/fit or young players but as Adnan said any selection is bound to get some flake.
On the whole to me the only two notable people who were missing in the 14 list were Saquib from Warriors and Hansraj from Arena. Saquib was batting lights out at the trials and even though his stats are decent i think he looked a better and fitter player than a couple selected.
Hansraj, just because he was bowling quick and belted the ball quiet well while batting. And we can have a lefty bowler to change things up(Mehul) might not disagree on this part)
Also if people are not available for trails/CER games, the selection team cannot do anything about it and it is an indication to move on..
What next dude...
I think I got the selection process and how it worked.
Sohail Aliv > Did not attend trials > Opposes Management > DROPPED
Faisal Baig & Milwaulkee players > Did not attend Trials > Supports Management > SELECTED.
Faisal did attend one session balajee. so he was eligible for selection not sure about Mil Players.
FYI:
There's another criteria that was used, which was the reason Saquib and Hansraj didnt get picked.
USACA rules for selection says that you can only have 2 OC (Open category - by visa status not a resident).
We already have Ram Velamkanni, shaid Hussain ali and Shankar anand.
Hence, it was hard to leave out Saquib and Hansraj.
Also fellas, we are trying to play them and others in either the Director's XI, which is another team playing in the CER or in the diversity cup (the 20-20 start studded tourney) in michigan.
Please give this selection committee some credit, as they worked their asses off for the league.
All,
I was not available due to my prior comitments as Adnan mentioned. Not to bring politics on this blog because I choose to play in diversity cup !!!!! Its a Long story, Adnan can explain better than me. I love to play for CER team but I made my commitment way back in Jan.
Yes - Shekhs, Sadiq and Madhu talked to me about my availability. BTW, I did participate in one session in Madhu's presence - bowl, batted and field decently :):)- Peoria practiced on the same day with probables.
Adnan, Diversity cup team is been selected with Shekhs & Moe's understanding, just want to clear the air. Not a single players who made himself available for CER team been forced to change his mind for diversity cup. There is no need to bring diversity cup into CER discussion.
I'm not here to justify 14 players selection, just wanted to clear my name from this ..........
Good luck to MWCC team, they will win!

You guys are bunch of craps who are trying to sell your fairness and justice
*************************************
This is uncalled for, while this blog is a sounding forum, we still need to respect individuals. Suck_it you show no class and all of your arguments fall on deaf ear when you start attacking people personally. If you are so upset please ask your captain to submit a n inquiry to management or if you are gonna call out people by name be a man and display yours!
Hi All,
There is lot of debate and Shekhs we appreciate the criteria used to select the team..
But there is no criteria used to select the chairman of selectors we guess!!! Anyway !!!
We have lot of respect towards some of the selectors Mehul/Ajit Etc (AGAIN SOME OF THEM). But Leave Sohail Alvi simply indicates the Vindicative Nature than anything else..
I guess we need to see some neutral decisons..
Or I may be totally wrong.. You guys might have picked Sohail Alvi as the Coach of Team I Guess.
People who played in the league for long time and proved, talented and fit should be recognized and we hope you do the same.
Just a final note.. I also voted for the New Management...
Adnan, Diversity cup team is been selected with Shekhs & Moe's understanding, just want to clear the air. Not a single players who made himself available for CER team been forced to change his mind for diversity cup. There is no need to bring diversity cup into CER discussion.
===============================
Yousuf I am not sure what you're clearing here. I did not mention your name on this blog, neither I bad mouthed Diversity. Please read my post again.
Poor soul,
Thanks for the vote.
We are not trying to campaign or trying to woo teams or captains for next term elections.
We are simply trying to do the best for the league.
We are trying to be as non biased as possible. I dont know the criteria that ruled out sohail, as I wasn't part of the selection process, but I can gaurantee that there was no bias in terms of political allegiance.
Kiran who was the general secretary from the previous management was offered the captaincy (at least I was told), let alone being picked. He declined and made himself unavailable for CER.
I just wanted to state a scenario that would show that the team was picked in a non-biased manner.
The selection committee can explain more..
So my point is that, we'll do the right thing no matter what....even if that doesnt please folks who voted for us last time....we appreciate the support...but like I said we are not here to please anybody...
Also on a different note the criteria used by selectors (N,DN,OC.. Etc),is it mandatory for all the teams in CER to follow that criteria.. or we chose to follow them...
Fake/ poorsoul....
seems like you switch identities pretty quick...not quick enough to be unnoticed...
hahaha..
anyways....I did notice that a few folks want Sadiq's blood for making some CER comment..
I went thru the comments and dont see any comment that he said against or negatively about MWCC.
All he said was he was praying/ hoping that ICML squad is not too strong...
I dont see any reason whatsoever we need to crucify Sadiq.
He's worked his butt off for the league - Selection, umpiring etc. Mabe he's not perfect, but give him some credit folks.
As Sheks mentioned that Kiran was offered Capt and the fact that there are 3 players from Flames in selection, shows that there are no political motives in selection.
You have to see a lot of players made themselves unavailable and selection committee had to choose from the best available.
At this time, we need to support the team, give them confidence and stand behind them so they can return successfully. All the political campaigns can wait till they return.
Whatsnext...best wishes for CER team.
Well put ice. let's support our lads so they will go in with confidence, instead of picking them apart. if they perform badly then they are open to criticism. even then no one is getting paid for this. young players will have plenty of opportunity to show off their skills. we have a lot of up and coming talent in this league, hopefully the pres will get the ok to do dirXI and get more of our talent in there.
Shekhs...
Ha Ha Ha.. I don't have multiple IDs/Personalities..
May be somebody Echoed my same feelings which you misunderstood..
Btw
I Echoes everybody here to support
"OUR TEAM". But at the same time, when we feel the job is not correctly done we need to point that...
But the sad factor is you decided to stand behind c8ws comments. which honestly I didn't expect. You want to protect him do to..
But the league needs to hear from its leader that "we can beat any team and what c8w said was wrong". You want to keep him or not it is your choice.
Obviously we elected you to run the league and we respect your judgement, but all that is being asked is when it is clear to everybody there is a mistake, please take some action rather than trying to back it up..
It makes no difference..
GUYS WHOEVER IS IN TEAM
IT IS NOT AGAINST Any of you, Don't Bother about What Others Say, We can win CER.. Let us go for it...
GET THE CER!!!!
Can somebody clarify me this N, DN, OC Rule.. I already posted it and no reply..
Just for you sir ..
http://usaca.org/tournaments/player-eligibility
Thanks Alpesh Sir,
It is mentioned that it is mandatory for all the National Tournament and the Regional Tournament it is advised.
Does that is a Mandatory requirement for CER Tournament.. Or just MWCC Decided to follow that..
poorsoul,
For sure...I'm extremely confident that our CER team will kick ass this year. We will win it all, no questions asked.
In fact, i'll be cheering from the sidelines. you and others are welcome to join me in cheering them.
Here is the eligibility details from USACA.org...
The following player eligibility criteria must be followed for all national tournaments conducted by USACA. All the regions of USACA are also advised to follow these for inter-league tournaments in their respective regions.
Tournament Eligibility:
National: - US Citizen by birth or Naturalization or
- Resident in the US 183 days of each of the past 7 years
Deemed National: Resident in the US 183 days of each of the past 4 years
Open: Does not meet National nor Deemed National requirements
Team Composition:
Playing X1 must have: - Minimum 5 Nationals
- Maximum 4 Deemed Nationals
- Maximum 2 Open
The above word inter-league i think implies to be followed here also.
Mr. President
Thanks for your support.. It would have great if you put that out when that comments came from c8w. Obivously, you wanted to back him so kept quite.
But I am sure you inner heart would have certainly said that it was wrong.. And I have nodoubt this wish of CER winning all came from your heart..
I will be cheering from my living room as I cannot afford that trip as a poor soul..
But again, nobody answered about whether N, DN, OC was mandatory for this tournament. So, the silent tells me something that it is not mandatory and we made it mandatory ourselves denied opportunites for some of the folks in the OC catetory.
If other teams are not needed to do that, why should we alone take it and deny opportunity for the right people like sauqib and Hansraj.
We should be able to project the talent in CER which can make it up in the ladder to CER and Naitonal and not deny them by self imposed rules to favour others.
Hard luck to those deserving players.....
Also on a different note the criteria used by selectors (N,DN,OC.. Etc),is it mandatory for all the teams in CER to follow that criteria.. or we chose to follow them...
==========================
you sound like someone who is deeply rooted inside the MWCC organization.
We are adhering to USACA standard.
Thanks for clarifying that Mr. Liaison.
So, anyone who is denied the opportunity based on the VISA status would like to know whether this CER rule mandated by USACA or MWCC. Now, you have clarified that this is done by MWCC. Are we going to impose the same rule to the league games also to maintain USACA standard?
How do you read this statement from USACA site:
The following player eligibility criteria must be followed for all national tournaments conducted by USACA. All the regions of USACA are also advised to follow these for inter-league tournaments in their respective regions.
++++
Inter-league doesn't mean games within a particular league but between the games played across the league which is what these CER selection trials.
Let me know if i understood wrong.
To me that this applies only to the National level as they said "must be followed". Infact, you can have all 14 as OC category or National or deemed national to participate in CER. They are only suggesting to make this as National level but they are not forcing you to have the same criteria in the CER unless USACA specifically laid down the rules to all the leagues that CER "must be followed" rather "advise to follow". I think MWCC is enforcing this on the players so that they can blame on USACA.
SITUP: If understood right from what you said, if ICML comes up with say 10 ranji cricketers who might obviously play good and get selected all the way into CER team.
At national level however they are not eligible to be selected so doesn't it rob a good & eligible player from our region from getting selected.
What are your comments on that? I am just trying to make an honest argument only.
Guest_Rule
This is just my observation. We have not been very successful for lat 30 yeras that more than one player is selected to USA team from this region in one year. The count would be 5 or 6 players who represented USA team. 2 from st. louis sohail and Tehseen, 3 from Chicago Shahid, Asher and Afroze that I remembered.
The point here is that whatever the best we have regardless the status we should send them to CER. If we have 6 OC then may one can be picked which was not originally on the team.
To confirm the eligibility may be managment make some effort to write an email to USACA and share the result from them to us would be very helpful.
The statement on USACA posted is very vague.
let's talk about our selection - Romesh, shankar, etc. How they got selected. Ravi, Hansraj, Dinesh sitting outside.
Why Raheel in the team. He is injured, didn't attend a single trial.
Mehul himself said attending a trials was not the crieteria. Which is not true, mgmt was telling everyone that you have to attend a session to be considered for CER team. Who is right here? Mehul or mgmt or Sadiq Baba.
Sadiq Baba is too quite, on his spill of words about ICML team. It tells me he never played cricket, just bogus opinions, not worth to be looked at in future.
Anyone from management can answer this.
Yes,but 30 years ago Shekhs was not the president. 30 years ago games were starting at 1:00p.m. and the batting side provided umpires. Thirty years ago home team was responsible for picking and dropping matting.Things have changed and there will be more changes to provide maximum opportunity to our players and to ensure our guys are not robbed of their place in the nationals. As far as USACA rule is concerned I am the one who forced the selectors to meet the USACA criteria. I am not concerned with whether other leagues are following the same rule. With that being said, if you feel someone was robbed of their fair share, please come and talk to me. I don't think the USACA ruling in this matter is vague at all. It's pretty clear cut to me, the selctors and the administration.
Hope this clarifies things.
Adnan
Yes, you are right that shekh was not the president 30 years ago and you were certainly around there at that time. Also, you were not involved at all to clean up that mess that you mentioned it.
Thanks to the previous management who have streamlined these processes for you that you are enjoying it today. I hope that you do not take the credit of the work they have done which you sat and criticized all these years.
I am sure from now on no one will be robbed since you are in the lap of chaddi leader. I am sure more players will play for USA since you can make a difference in USACA affairs.
It is optional to you to explain. Why they have not been selected? If you answer is ask selection then they can respond as well.
Sohail, Ravi, Dinesh, Hansraj, Ikram, Talha
Naren and Aditya I would like to hear your comments on this selection too.
There are 2 things to consider - the selection process and the actual selections.
As far as the process is concerned, here is what I have read/seen so far:
1. A clearly laid out process was followed - availability, trials, selection.
2. Trials were held in advance.
3. 5 selectors made the decisions without management interference - 1 of the promises from Shekhs to delegate and not control.
4. USACA guidelines were enforced on selection.
5. The team was announced earlier than in previous years (day of departure), but a week earlier would have been better.
6. There are 3 50 over games in 3 days - I'm sure that was a strong influencer on the decision making process.
7. There seem to be a few inconsistencies regarding attendance of selections - I'm sure that can be cleared up easily.
So, as far as I can see, they tried to do the right thing. There may be some areas of improvement in the process, but this in itself was an improvement. Thanks to them for putting in the hard work and trying to get the best combination. I'm sure the team will do you proud, and all of us proud.

I think Shekh already explained that the team is made on non-biased selection. But I still think that it has some leniency to the teams that are already opposed him. Flames, Milwaukee, and Peoria selected half of the team to show that we are not biased.
Arena and Rovers wasted their votes. There players were more deserving to some other on the team.
Sohail is left out because of the age since this poor guy can not play 3 days straight unless they have other reason.
Adnan,
If I am reading things right your logic is flawed. Unless ofcourse USACA decides to use MWCC 11 as the national 11 :).. but may be wrong :)
Good that you cleared this up. Now you have to let c8w and Sheks know that you required that these guidelines be followed and not USACA. I am not opposed to this or other selection procedures/guidelines being adopted.. my point is the selecting body should not mislead its members.
As for selections temselves I am happy to see that all of them are desrving and I wish them well. btw, who is backing up Ram?
For some of those not selected:
Sohail - he's a really good bat. I think if he was selected, there would have been criticism about that too - age, fitness, etc. All I know is he makes runs and lots of them. I guess this could have gone either way.
A case could be made for Ravi (Rovers) or Hansraj, but I guess they are looking at the last 2-3 years, not just this year. Their stats look impressive - but so do their competition - Raheel, Shankar, Nasir, Nilesh.
Ikram - this guy is really good. The only thing may be, that he has just started performing in the 40 over format this year as a top run scorer. If he keeps it up, and he isn't selected next year, I would be pretty disappointed. He got some scores last year, but this year he has done it consistently and is truly a threat.
Talha - I don't know much about him.
Dinesh - I think Dinesh is knocking on the door - obviously. His stats are good too. Maybe him playing only 2-3 games this year has gone against him.
There are others too that could be considered. The good thing is that suddenly there seem to be so many more people in consideration - no credit to anyone but themselves and to this league.
btw, who is backing up Ram?
Maybe they will have to fly someone in as a last minute cover???? :):):) Good question!

Wow. You dont read the blog for a day or two, and find its turned terrifically spicy in the meantime :-)
BTW, the way the national system works is, you have the Central-East regional tournament. Then the CER side is selected to play in Western Conference - that is the next level. If that team does well, they could go to Nationals.. 2 teams go onto nationals. The actual USA team is beyond that.
If 11 Ranji players show up, they might be able to play and win CER tournament, but they *wont* all get into CER team.. only 2 maximum could be picked to even play for CER in Western Conference. All those 11 OC players will fight each other for only 2 spots. All the other 9 spots will be for nationals or deemed-nationals... filling your team with OC actually denies many of your players a chance to progress at all. First you have to get to Western Conference - then if you do well there, you have a chance of getting into National Probables and so on. (Last year, Amit Kumar from StLouis did great at Western Conference, and was promptly selected for 40-man USA probables.. he was also a national and was not fighting for only 2 spots, for eg). This is the fact about USA cricket (or any other nations cricket,I suppose) - its the "nationals" who have the best chance to go further...Fahad Babar is brilliant, but last year he didnt get picked for USA U19 team! Thats cos he was an OC player. This year Fahad is a Deemed National - he has now been here more than 4 years, his status has changed. Hopefully this year he can go all the way!
This does not mean, BTW, that you dont take any OC in your side - or that its the only criteria. Its one of many criteria. But when you have 2 guys about the same, the one who can go to Western Conference and Nationals is the one who has the edge, he has the best chance to go further today...
c8w
For those who weren't selected, it's tough. There are only 14 spots and many more talented players - it will always be tough to leave out someone. There will always be people who one can question why they were left out.
For those selected:
Spinners - Asif is a no-brainer - a SLA. Ideally you want a ROB bowler to complement him. Who better than Bhavesh? His bowling stats each year are among the best. If you ask me, they are missing another spinner. Maybe Naren, or someone else?
Pace bowlers - Nasir, Raheel, Shankar, Ravi U are all very good options. All have good stats to back them up, and all obviously impressed the selectors enough.
WK - they chose Ram. Must have been a tough decision between Mahesh and Ram, but either are excellent if Asshar is not available.
Batsmen - Fahad and Faisal are no-brainers for openers. It's a 50 over game - you need people who can bat through 30+ overs. I guess that is how Romesh, Sachin, Afroze, and Shaid were picked. It is was 20/20, it would probably have been different. All of them have good stats to back them up over the last 2-3 years. I would have liked to see another LHB in the middle order - mix things up a bit, but not sure if one was an option.
I may not agree completely with every person selected, but I can see the rationale behind it, and I support the rationale.
But there are definitely 2-3 players that I question.
Maybe Naren, or someone else?
Bharat Patel!

Yaar, honestly, Sheks didnt attend any selection meeting - heck, the team was sent to him the same time it was sent to the website-committee to put on the main-page! He probably found out the team same time Shiva did, a couple minutes before the rest of the league did! I dont think election bias ever entered anyones mind in the Selection Committee.. heck, half of the committee itself may or may not have been supporters or opponents in the last election, I dont even know... the election is over, for 2 years nobody needs to think about who supported or didnt support whom IMHO.
As for Peoria, Milwaukee etc.. Peoria did make it to the finals of Div1 last year, Milwaukee to the semifinals. Theyre good teams because they happen to have good players in them. Flames are, IMHO, maybe the best and most talented young team in the league - who cares who they support or dont support in a damn league election?
I really dont want to get into why players were not picked etc - lots of great players were left out, but thats because we have about 50 great players in MCC and are allowed to have only 14 in the final squad.
But I'll answer a couple of very unfair allegations against a couple of players who *have* been picked. Romesh - in the last 3 seasons (2007, 2008, 2009), he is the #3 rungetter in all of Div1, with over 1100 runs. And he played most of those games on a very low-scoring ground - where often 160-odd was a winning score. Consistent performances matter, IMHO - and 1100+ runs in 3 years (and #3 on the runcharts) is a record of terrific performances.
Shankar - he has been in our league for a shorter time, 2-odd years. Take a look at his performances sometime - all Div1 stats. Career 21 matches, 43 wickets, avg 13.4, econ 4.02. He ended the season as the #2 wickettaker in all of Division One last year. Terrific consistent performances in all games hes played. Excellent fielder. Bowling very well this year - was hugely impressive at the trials. When the highest paceman wickettaker in the history of the league is impressed with a pacers bowling, that counts - and those opinions have backed up by terrific performances on the field.
If you guys want to criticize selectors, please, feel free - we all signed up for it and know it comes with the territory :-) But Id request guys to please dont go after players who have performed week in and week out, and never signed up to be attacked.

Sohail - It is true that there would be a criticism whether he is on the team or off the team. But point here is that if he is performing that matters.
A case could be made for Ravi (Rovers) or Hansraj -
Selectors have not laid out the requirements at the beginning that they are only looking the performance for last 2 years. If that was the case then they do not bother to come to the trials. You have wasted their time.
Ikram - He has been playing for last two years and his stats are far better than Romesh.
Talha - May be you need to check this guy out. He is as good as your experience players.
Dinesh - He has been consistent in his stats. Look at Bhavesh runs this year and look at everyone who is left out. Come on Aditya try to favor those who are making runs.
You need to be out of this nepotism and supported the wrong things of this management. Be loud like you were few years back.
I am sorry that they have not selected Naren. He has been supporting you guys since beginning.

Geez! Some of us still believe in not jinxing things, ya know :-)
I guess there are two ways of looking at it (as with most things).. one like Sheks above (and most bloggers too, apparently!) Me, when there is a team I care about involved, Iam often a serious worrier. The cricket team I cheer for hardest is the Bombay team in the Ranji Trophy - we've won 39 titles, including the last 2 years (the 2nd highest # of titles any team has won is Delhi with 7!) By any yardstick a dominant team. But, even when I play a team nowhere near as good (like Preetam's Hyderabad), I worry ;-) They might be really good, we might be in bad form, its cricket, anything can happen...until the last ball is bowled..you dont count your chickens until theyre hatched.. (BTW, the last time Bombay played Hyderabad, December 2009, we got them 266 allout and then made 521/2 declared ;-) Even if our CER team does that to someone, I'll still worry :-)
c8w
I am sure from now on no one will be robbed since you are in the lap of chaddi leader. I am sure more players will play for USA since you can make a difference in USACA affairs.
============================
If that's what it takes to make sure our guys are recognized then hey I'll be the scarificial lamb. No shame in my game :)
BTW, Preetam - in re previous thread - I was referring to an incident in a Ranji game where Arjun Yadav went after Rayudu with a stump. At that time Rayudu was playing for Andhra (and was thus in the opposition camp)..were you referring to a different incident?
If you have any juicy inside details of HCA, BTW, please provide them - if not here at least by email :-) Id always be interested to hear them.
c8w
Adnan yes I am rooted in MWCC as a player. I guess everybody is deeply rooted in MWCC if they play in MWCC for a while..
Correct me if I am wrong....
Lot of good discussion guys!! There are only 14 slots and many good players. So it is a very tough job. But its time to put it all behind and concentrate on the one goal ahead - to retain the CER trophy.
All the selected 14 and the reserves, remember, we are 100% behind you and give your best. There are many of us cheering for you around Midwest :)
Shekhs and Co, you guys should think of doing a live feed of the games.:). Just like UCC did for the election. or atleast, a live commentary, like cricinfo :)
Go MWCC!!!
suck it up,
Ikram's stats aren't better than Romesh's in the last 3 years according to C8W. I can't argue about that either way, because the stats-guru generally does a lot more homework about these things than I ever could. Ikram is talented, and if he keeps performing he must be selected.
You can't compare Dinesh to Bhavesh. Bhavesh is picked as a spinner - though we know he can bat. Dinesh is a batsman - compare him to Shaid or Romesh or Afroze. You can't just have 14 batsmen in a team - or 14 allrounders! You need specialist players.
I don't think any selection will ever get 100% approval - there will always be doubters. And there's no harm - make the selectors think outside the box. Push names like Dinesh, Ravi, Talha, Ikram, etc so that they can become serious contenders (if they weren't already).
The difference is that while I may disagree with the selectors on a few selections, I know that they did the best job they could and it was independent of favoritism,
management, politics, elections, opponents, etc.
That is a good thing for this league and its players.
Go TEAM MWCC!!!!
Dinesh, Ravi, Ikram, Talha, Hansraj, etc - hard luck about the selections. But you guys are good players, so keep performing and bully your way into future MwCC teams. Good luck for the rest of the season - but be gentle against us. :)
c8w - could you please justify Sachine selection over Najmi?
I hope you have looked at Sohail stats too - did you?
What about Bakhsi as a 2nd spin opion. Does he has to prove you something?
Aditya, you know Bhavesh could not be allowed to bowl in CER (I hope that's not the case).
Only four bat in this line. Fahd, Afroze, Shahid and Ravi. Others are not 50 over palyers. Only two players who have strong arm. Did someone looked into that detail?
So, c82 - don't teach us cricket - we know what we're talking. You're going with 1 1/2 spinner :) :)
Aditya, could you please eleborate on this " but be gentle against us. :)" - last time I saw you were not on any panel or had any title with current mgmt!
What kind of say you had in selection? IIRC you were dropped in one of CER game and you came back and complaint to TA about captain. So, you telling us slow down and support selection process doesn't fly with me. Where your sportsmanship when that happend to you? Why didn't you supported team on that given day?
What about captain choice for this team? Is Asif a good captain? Did he win in this league? If Bhavesh is there, I'll vote for him. He has better track record. Other option I could have looked at, could be Afroze (aggressive cricketer). We need a captain who can be aggressive in strategy - Asif doesn't fit on this criteria.
Blogger,
The "be gentle against us" was when they play Phoenix. These are good players, and I'm hoping they save their performances for other teams.
I had no say in selection.
I never complained to Tariq about anyone or anything. There was a big blunder that time, but I didn't say anything about it. I don't even know if it was taken up, but it was without my involvement. I kept quiet, supported the team, and did whatever I needed to that day. You don't even know what you are talking about. Check your facts before you make false comments.
My sportsmanship record is pretty decent - what's yours like?

c&w does not know jack about cricket and stats. He had been given a task that he is not capable of. He put players on the list whom he liked. Are you telling me that Romesh stats are better than sohail as well?
Why do we have to get Bhavesh as a spinner who we know can not be allowed to bowl in CER? Bakshi is far better than Bhavesh in bowling and batting. Are you telling me that MWCC is running out of talent? Can you not find someone else who is younger and better then him? I suppose Shekh probably mind it.
What they have done that is to please their likings. The difference of this selection and the earlier one is that previous selectors built a best possible team reagrdless of their likings.
you also need to think outside the box and take you blinders off. All you are doing is tagging along with their mistakes. Try to do the same roll as you have done in the past.
Aditya said...
I had no say in selection.
So, I do not understand that why are you defending the selection? Let them answer it. The problem with you is that you think that you know everything and you are 100% right in this management.
suck it up,
I was asked for my opinion by "Blogger", so I gave it. Just like you can give your opinion, so can anyone else.
Why so much anger? Why is everything an absolute with you? Why can't someone else have a different opinion from you? And why is it a personal issue with you when someone doesn't see things like you do?
Blogger said...
c8w - could you please justify Sachine selection over Najmi?
They need to justify both of them. Their stats do not look good.
also suck it up,
I never criticized the selections in the past. I disagreed with some of them, but I didn't criticize them. Feel free to check previous posts. So, in that regard, I'm playing the same role - disagreeing with a few, but not criticizing them.
Keep in mind, C8W was not the only one who chose the team. There were 4 others, and as a majority they agreed on Romesh.
Also, as per the website, Bakshi was unavailable for selection, so that discussion is moot.
And no one is saying that the MwCC is running out of talent. If anything, it seems to have got more talent.
Madhu, Doc N, Ajit, and Mehul were also on the selection committee with an equal say. Do they also not know jack? Maybe, but they do know their cricket - more so than most of us.
Don't hate on just c8w, go for the entire selcom. Knowing C8W, he probably wanted a 24 man team - just like his posts - bigger than necessary. :):):)
The difference of this selection and the earlier one is that previous selectors built a best possible team reagrdless of their likings.
Can you tell us who the previous selectors were? Was this a committee? Who was on this committee?
suck it up,
I can guess who you voted for in the last elections.
You just are loving to find faults in this selection. Good for you, should keep you busy since you don't have anything else to do.
Aditya said.. "btw, who is backing up Ram? Maybe they will have to fly someone in as a last minute cover???? :):):) Good question!"
most teams would have 2 keepers in their squad. I am not familiar with some of the names.. c8w, is there anyone else in the list who has kept wickets in the past? for, you can easily loose a game because of this thankless job :)
People keep mentioning Talha Mohsin's name. I am not very familiar with him sounds like he is new talent.
Can someone plz explain what team he plays for and how has he performed?
Talha Mohsin is playing for Bears and I dont think he has done anything to be considered for even top 100 of this league.
Not sure why his name keeps coming up. I think he is writing under a hidden ID to promote his own name :)
I agree Talha is not there, he can't make the cut. Bears has Faisal and Sikander. Much better than him.
But Sankar doesn't have it either. Niles, Bhavesh, Sachin, Romesh are big question in this team.
Ravi got 17 wkts, proven performer in Div -II. Last year mgmt picked Laxi based on Div - II performance. Donkie was there couple years ago. Ravi has proved at Div-I leve this yr.
How you will compare:
Sohail vs. Romesh?
Bakshi vs Bhavesh (Bakshi didn't show up for trial - he was available)
Najmi vs. Sachin?
Ravi vs. Sankar
Good questions blogger...proves like a no brainer to me...especially the sohail vs romesh and ravi vs shankar..
Why wasn't sohail alvi selected? Was he unavailable, didn't want to play, didn't show up for trials?? What's the rationale?
Considering ravi is a left bat and lefty bowl, our team cud have used a lefty righty combination in the middle...he has a much more proven record than sankar and his hitting at no 7 or 8 cud have been valuable..
Sadiq and selectors, why don't u guys explain these two selections for us?? It seems like u guys choose to explain only the things u want to, and not answer the difficult questions...u prefer to have selective amnesia for the rest...
One of 5 selectors please explain...
Balajee
They have nothing to explain because they were not paying attention to compose a solid team with lefty and right combinations, more spinner, backup wicket keeper and etc. It takes a lot of efforts to be neutral in making teams.
I found out from someone that sohail was supposed to go on Monday for trial but the trial was cancelled due to rain and he was not notified by any of the member. He was available from day 1. The reason I can think of him dropping because of the age as stated in other blogs. I would suggest that management should also put the ages of all the selected players on the web for us to debate on.
I am a fan of Ravi Patel .. He has shown good consistency since the time we have played Rovers last year ..
But I feel that Shankar vs Ravi is not a valid comparison as Shankar seems to be primarily a bowler, while Ravi is a bowling allrounder. Ravi can be compared to Nasir Sir, as Nasir Sir is a bowling allrounder as well.
Well it seems like it is never fun selecting a team any level let alone picking a national team.
Here is interesting game in the making. We will remove the blogger's ball and let's play instead Manager cup where current and previous management will field their XI and fight it out.
Even better if we give team's to vote and pick the team based on majority for CER from now on. That will be the team i can't think in my imagination so strong because we will 11 bowlers, 11 batsman and 11 wicketkeepers but only 11 can play at any time. So we will change the rules and say we will rotate the players every ball...:)-
Looks like few are blinded by their team-mates skills and ignores that this league is bigger than their team.
Only for fun don't play seriously..hehehehe
So, what plans for the weekend Shekhs, Naren, Preetam, C8W, Mehul, Dinesh, Ravi, Alpesh, Moe, Adnan, Shoaib etc?
Anyone playing any cricket? Going anywhere fun? Discussing anything other than the CER selections? :)
Any of you guys going to Detroit? Do try and post results of the CER on the website.
Any thoughts of doing a Blogger Ball? Hopefully it won't become a mud-slinging match :)
Adi,
Adnan, Sadiq and I'll be going with the team to Detroit. Will be cheering from the sidelines.
All of you are welcome to join me.
I'll try my best to get the scores across.
Adi,
I might be in Detroit not sure yet, if i am in Detroit i will end up at the ground once in a while to join the party of Pres, Sadiq and Adnan in being the cheer/chaddi leaders :-) for MWCC
Alpesh,
Please don't compare Nasir with Ravi. Nasir is just a bolwer. He doesn't know how to field. Please do ask him throw the ball from boundary then let us know :) Nasir is great bowler. No comparision b/w him and Ravi. But Ravi is good alround cricketer.
So, its much better choice to pick Ravi over Shankar.
You do need Raheel and Nasir with new ball - NOT NILESH WITH THREE STEPS - Sadiq Baba sorry :)
Wow, now we got one more keeper on website - Ram good luck. You're out. Mahesh is much better batsman then you !
They are now realizing that they have not thought about alternative wkt keeper in the team. Please add another spinner may be Naren since he will be there anyway.
SiU,
Dont want to make this personal, but cut the selectors some slack. If you were so smart (not to say that I am :) but why did you not point this out earlier? pls be constructive.
I think its a good decison to add Mahesh. Do not want to step on Asif here, but I think mixing Ram and Mahesh would be a good idea. Keeping in all 3 games with temp in 90s can be difficult.
Sorry spinners, but I do not think we need to include another spinner. If our objective is to win then we should consider pitch conditions.. or should I say astro turf conditions :). So, no I dont think we need another specialist spinner a part time spinner should do.
----- Aditya said...
Also, as per the website, Bakshi was unavailable for selection, so that discussion is moot.
-----
Very much so. Ashhar, Shahid and Bakshi were all unavailable for July 4th weekend, for family reasons. In fact, the plan is to give a "Leave of Absence" for these guys to the Central-East Regional Board..saying 2 of them are USA players, and the 3rd won Best Bowler of CER 2 years ago.. they are not available for July 4th weekend due to unavoidable reasons, but we would like them to be considered for Western Conference. (ICML will probably be doing something similar for Usman Shuja).
The thing is, though, that Diversity Cup is in the same city as CER, and on the same days. If players play Diversity Cup instead of CER, then the CER board will not let those players be eligible for Western Conference for sure. Only the ones who are genuinely unavailable this weekend (like our guys above) can get a valid "Leave of Absence", as they hopefully will. A lot of our very good players made themselves unavailable for CER selection and chose to play Diversity Cup instead this year..the sad thing is that all of them wont be able to go onto Western Conference and make our regional team there as strong as it should be (last year, playing at home, we won the Western Conference and went to the national championships; its away this year, will be much harder to repeat that performance, but hopefully we can do it again and demonstrate in September how strong cricket in this region is).
c8w
BTW, are guys actually being serious when they question the spot of someone like Nilesh Patel in the team? I really wonder :-)
Among all fast bowlers in Division One, over the last 2 seasons (ie 2008+2009), Nilesh Patel happens to be the #1 wicket-taker (45). He also happens to #1 in average amongst all the pacemen in this period (11.53). He also happens to be #1 in Economy Rate among pacemen in this period (3.26 runs/over). And he actually happens to be an allrounder too (with an average of nearly 20 with the bat over his career)...he wasnt available for CER last year.. given that he is available this year, Iam at a loss to think how anyone would imagine he wouldnt make the squad!

Yaar, tata, the Selection Committee has been obsessing about this for like a month.. give us *some* credit at least :-)
Everybody had thought about possibly 2 keepers - thats one reason there were 3 in probables list. But we were told it was a 14-man squad.. we were working with CER-board to try and get the number increased. (If you look at most squads that tour BTW, very few 14-man squads have 2 keepers - there is no room, you have to have a few batting/bowling backups.. it was considered strongly, but decided a 2nd keeper could be 15th only for us).
We thought we would likely get permission to increase the # of the squad - but when we did selections (and wanted to publish it, ie weekend), we had no official word.. you dont want to pick 15, announce it, then find out you have to *cut* one guy, its easier to do it the other way around :-)
When permission was received, a 2nd keeper was added. Also, BTW, the decision was made not to hoard talent and take guys who would have to warm the bench.. instead, Hansraj Meena and Saquib Chowdhury have both been given to the Directors XI team for this tournament. IMHO both could be real stars at the tournament, and I really hope they are - both are huge talents (but OC players and squeezed by the numbers game in our squad).. both will hopefully get to play all games in the tournament for Directors XI, and IMHO lead the attack and the batting respectively. I hope both do fantastically well, even against us (though I hope we beat them in the finals :-)...and I hope at the end of the tournament, the only OC-guys battling for the 2 Western Conference spots are the 4 guys who play in Midwest Cricket Conference!

Hey, Iam going as an umpire, just like 2 years ago.. its only fair that rest of regions bowlers learn what its like to have their LBW appeals turned down as well ;-)
Do come by if youre around, though, Naren - it ought to be fun.

This is very much the case, BTW - selected very much as a spinner. (Check out the "top wickettakers in the history of the league" list sometime :-)
The Selection Committee was obviously aware that there have been doubts expressed about his action (everybody has heard it, after all :-) But people will remember, there were many many doubts expressed about Bakshi's action 2 years ago too.. and he ended up not only playing in the CER, but winning Best Bowler of the Tournament! It was thought that it was not fair to pre-judge anyone in this regard, but just go on performances in our league...
c8w
c8w,
I give you a *lot* of credit for taking up this role. If you read my posts you would see I was giving you guys benefit of doubt and was only asking who the backup was?.. someone in the 14 could have very well donned the gloves. My question was who this person was.
wow...nothing changes on this blog.
Same old sorrya-ss excuses from the mgmt (aka chadi mgmt) and same old screwups continues on every single thing they try to change.
Guys Why cant you just follow the management philosophy of "Keep it simple stupid" since your team lacks the experience and skills of practical cricket operations and its management.
I am still concerns about basic issues which we still need to see any improvements like balls, ground conditions, rule issues and scheduling. There is huge communication Gap in terms of league informing team about major changes in those areas.
Either Sheks is unable to inspire ppl and you guys are short of volunteers or what but something gotta change before the teams and players start losing their patience.
Already such events have occured which has direct effect on the over all cricket standard and our league become a laughing stock, hope we can still keep our chins up by the end of this season.
Bhavesh Amin (Challengers) (VC) - If I am not mistaken does that mean he is Vice Captain of CER Team...lol...u gotta be kidding, this guy is so laid back that when he talks seems like he is always drunk,he hardly knows whether he has his pants on or not.
Wow...I was not aware that itna bura time aagia hai apunki CER team main that ppl with such lazy attitude chosen to lead our team.
No disrespect to bhavesh as a player or person though. But we are telling the world hey this is the best we can do.
I am sure sheks being the president has nothing todo with it.
Guys,
Dont forget, Bhavesh is the Capt of Challengers which makes into night+ day finals every year, with winning championship almost every year or other year.
No doubt challengers is the best team in league, but no cricket team can do anything without a good leader.
Everybody is tired now??
Or its just the calm before the 4th of july fireworks..?
I think people are giving their fingers some rest so they can use them over the weekend (for fireworks)
By the way, it will be a good idea to have a game organized between:
CER team11 VS
the Midwest Diversity Cup team
ice cold - I agree :):) I don't think so we've to fit these kind of games in our schedule. Not a bad idea. Diversity cup is based on nationality. It's organized by Gloabl sports.
Also, MichCA is going to organize a "Corporate Cup". We're planning to enter Caterpillar team in it. Others are more than welcome to enter teams on their company name. Players has to be from that company (IDs are required). Only three guest players.
Sadiq, I don't have time to answer your questions or theories about diversity cup. You better talk to Shekhs before you write some thing about diversity cup. Yes, we were unvailable due to prior commitment. It was not that I or others didn't wanted to represent Midwest - If I can come and play night cricket in weekdays after work - come back home 3:00am and get ready for work by 6:00am then playing CER is not problem but commitment is some thing you have to live with - Not to Shankar or Nabeel's politics - So, don't get me started here. You did grt job with MCC team selection - go and win the cup. I wish team midwest good luck - make sure you do grt job with umpiring, don't worry about diversity cup. We'll be available next year IF I or others don't have prior commitments.
Yousaf
Peoria
Mr Muhammad,
I think you are reacting too much over something very little :))
It's understood that some players were unavailable due to prior commitments and I think that's the same thing Sadiq mentioned? So not sure what's the reason to fight? Nobody questioned them why they werent available so the story ends right there.
I will love to see the Midwest Diversity Cup 11 (all nationalities mixed) VS Midwest CER 11.
I think that will be a great game and could be played next long weekend.
ICE ICE BABY
To ice_cold,
hey this is talha mohsin! I m not writing anything from hidding Id to promote my owe name.
Yousuf shanth ho jao Yaar. No one is bad mouthing Diversity cup. I personally think highly of anyone who provides opportunity to play competitive Cricket. We're not against Diversity. We're just clarifying our position.
Adnan & ice cold - peace. I didn't mean to come across negative.
All I'm saying we would love to participate in CER but timing didn't help - that's all.
Adnan and others had participated in that tournament - it's fun tournament and we're here to play cricket.
Yousaf
Good luck buddies at CER....MWCC ka naam roshan karo....
Any predictions? Favorites?
Raheel 8 wkts

Our leauge has another reason to be proud today also. Pakistan Greens won the Diversity Cup in style today by defeating a very strong West Indies. Pak scored 132 and defended it by gr8 bowling and batting by Yousuf bhai.
Second match FINAL. Pak vs Canada Pak scored 183 batting first. Pak got to blistering start thanks to kami who hit 5 fours in the 3 over. Kabir kept gr8 composure. Adnan scored over 70plus picking boundries at his will. Rest of the players had good knocks and took it to very good total.
Canada got to gr8 start also. They were 80 something for one at the break. Then Kashif bowled a gr8spell picking up 5 wickets and in the end Yousuf bhai bowled 3 gr8 overs to seal the deal. Tayyab got the last man stumped and Canada lost by 20 plus runs.

oh man..Just 3 wickets in hand.. I am sure we bat till 11.. Did we pull it off??looks like a very close game..
MWCC lost by 38 runs...Looks like we lost the plot in middle order...!
Great work MWCC team. This was a much younger team and that goes to prove it that we have a great future ahead and MW Cricket has some great talent and many great talent waiting in the wings.
We lost by 36 runs yesterday - 177/10 in 36.2 overs. Asif - 38, Saquib - 28 and Nilesh - 27 were the top scorers in our innings. A major collapse from 57/2 to 57/5 halted our march towards the CER championship title.
The complete scorecard for the finals will be available on the website by tomorrow.
Darkest day in midwest cricket conference history. I’ll rate this one worst than Adnan’s law suit.
Alpesh and other – just FYI these were same umpires our past two year team was plai
Sadiq, Mehul etc. co. has to resign immediately.
In what capacity Adnan was part of team? Was he manager? How he got involved in team selection? Worst team selection in final Midwest ever seen !
Sadiq, where are your stats? What happened to best strike bowlers? Best economy rate? Where is your highest run getter? You proved you’re full of BS. That doesn’t mean you’re good cricketer.
Asif proved as lousiest leader. What you guys were drinking when you guys picked Asif as captain. Afroze should have been the captain. Good bowler or cricketer doesn’t mean good captain/leader. Does Asif has any thing to show in past 5yrs? What are Milwaukee accomplishments?
Shame on us – league beat us is just been formed in four year. Now they are CER champs
Shekhs, we need clean up. What we’ve accomplished over the years. This management lost in first two month !
Tonal drump, yes, we’ve great future with Bhavesh, Ravi Uddavolu, Mahesh, Sachin and Shankar – you’re absolutely right.
Blogger, Enough of your comments that doesn't help anybody not mention urself.
Yes, this team might have lost in the finals but it not a bad performance by any means. Given that the team that was put up looks different from every other year before with so called stars that everybody know. Atleast this proved there is no dearth in the talent and these guys did a good job except for one defeat.
Remember there are several neutral followers of this league in this blog and i don't want to sound like i am supporting anybody. But your furstation seems to be coming from your dislike of new team being elected this year or either the guys you wanted to see aren't in the CER team.
If they had one the finals few would have regretted their comments prior to this weekend. Anyway gr8 performance and keep your heads high... you made us proud.

you have absolutely no idea. Can you please provide the names of umpires if you know. were you there? Glcc host, glcc umpires, glcc win title? there might be something there? mmm me thinks daal me kalaa.
Better yet blogger, since you are so knowledgeable why not step up and run for management, this way you will make league perfect?!?
Another thing i would like to bring to the attention of League management is to archive all the score cards of every tournament MCC participates.
This will help everybody to go and see the past performances anytime.
This is what we expect from the defeaters like crying baby oh the umpiring was poor; we have young talent that they have done good and will be a good prospects for Midwest. This is all rubbish.
This tournament was not there to test the youth instead of putting the best team possible to bring the trophy back here. It is a shame that the biggest 50 teams league lost the tournament.
It is now proved that this is such an incompetent management who promised to improve the standard of cricket instead showing their lacking ability in all areas.
I wonder that the 14 players supposed to go but ended up 16 there. There were no manager and coach announced with the team on the web. Did youth like sachin or other get a chance to play? I guess Mr. Liaison chose his own cronies to play. There were total ineptitude efforts in player’s and team selections. You guys should come up with better reasons in order to swallow the disgraceful defeat rather to blame on umpires.

Does it help by doing what you are suggesting? I thought that team was not selected based on stats. There were some players missed out because of their previous performances. Boss, they lie evertime they come up with the reason. There lies do not even consistent with the other member.
so far suck it and blogger are bringing the hate! anyone else?
All i wanted to know how the team/player performed rather in short summary scorecard about who scored maximum or got wickets. If the full scorecard is there to see then we can question the guys whoever failed to perform in a game.
What good is a star if he is not available to play? If you go through the comments in the last 3 weeks you will see a few saying they will not cooperate with the management in playing for CER. Being said that team lost only game that is finals.
Don't spill your beans here..i am sure few didn't give this team any chance of good performance and not to mention going to the finals.

You need to come up better what you just wrote. It seems like that you are part of this managment who is running out from excuses.

All I am saying is that you could have questioned them when the team was forming by selectors. Some of these players did not have supporting stats to be in the team. You can not blame them now since they were not at the place to begin with.
Some of the star players were not available due to forcing them to come to the trials. They had to come up with excuses too.
This is what blogger commented few weeks back>>>

No counter punches Mr.Sunil. No fuss - amazing! I’m really surprised and jealous with your patience. May be your advisors wake you up or may be you don't have heavy weight English words left in your brain. Limited vocabulary! Looking forward for your threat to materialize. BTW, I’ll recommend you to stay away from this blog if you don’t have heart to take the crap from us. You’re not part of this league any way. Do you play cricket, or just ……..around.
Point blank shooter my vote to ban him from this blog.
Aditya, really surprised with your sarcasm.
C8W is out of blog, heavy weights are in News paper (Midwest Blog) editor is out ! Light weights don’t have any chance. C8W dude, you dindn’t answer my question. If all big names don’t show up for trials, you will not going to put their name on CER team. BTW, as you know majority of last year team is not available to play any way. They are not showing up for trials either. They already made a alliance, not to show up trials. It’s a joke that they have to come and give trials to you !!!!! What’s you qualification, sorry, I forgot your write BS on this blog ! No illogical comments are coming from c8w from last few days.
Trials were joke, only 10 players – no one from last year showed up Best bowler on the net, a... got kicked in night game. Can they play 50 overs and bowlers bowl 30 overs over 3 day span?

This proves that few players wished that this team losses badly so they can beat the management.
Don't you think that this team lived beyond your liking. Wake up and suck it up hard..
all you guys are right - one umpire was Adnan buddy - please ask Adnan - ask c8w 2008 & 09 umpiring standards?
I'm not questioning management leadership - I'm questioning management choice of leaders - 40 thieves :) loser are surrounding this group. Aditya did great job with schedule. Shekhs is getting there except applogies after his screw ups. Moe is putting lot of hours in ground etc.
So, what kind standard we have set for these loser (c8w group) - these losers have to go - writting all BS on blog doesn't mean he knows cricket. Sachin, Romesh, Shankar, Bhavesh, Nasir didn't belong in this team. Asif did screw up big time.
Did break their own rule about trials. pick Asif, Romesh & Raheel etc. without trials.
Now we're not CER champions anymore- Sadiq Baba was talking national championship and USA selection - who belong from this group to be selected for US seletion. May be Mehul, Adnan, Sadiq Baba and Co !!!!
Mr. Sadiq Baba, you need talent with stats to win championships.
Why Asif palyed 6 bowlers in final - batting did collapsed in all games - so, batting was the way to go. giving 200+ runs tells you every thing.
Post elections if we can't bury the difference and work together then shame on us.
@Blogger:Can you tell me the kind of progress that we have seen till 2010 needs 10 years of single leadership?
If you accept that then you can wait until next elections to question the progress made during this management.
Wake up and suck it up. Shed your _veitiy and be +ve.
In a national team selection it is mandatory even for a super star to be available. It is a sad example that here they can excuse themselves from trials. What kind of example do they want to set for new players hoping for CER.

You do not call all the team members for trials. You need to call only those prospects who are the candidate to be in the team. New players need to earn their spot not by nepotism but their abilities.
When any international team is selected they do not have all the existing players to try out again.
Are you telling me now that if there is any other tournaments come up you call everyone for trials again?
This is the biggest screw up from our so-called (stats analyst) Sadiq bawa Inc that you are trying to justify. Just be +ve and accept the defeat and listen to other criticsms. Have some patience buddy!..
@SITUP: Thanks for the advice. I have the patience buddy and i will wait for sometime before coming to a judgement how one is doing but not ten years.
It is granted that super stars need not prove themselves again but they do have to prove their fitness atleast to be in contention for selections any level.
There are always questionble players all the time that is the reason why i wanted league to maintain the archive so that we can go back and refer always. Thanks for this blog atleast there is some record about what is said or done. Be greatful to that you are able to vent your frustation about what you didn't like.
But if it sound's -ve all the time then it doesn't help anyone. For your info we voted for previous as well as current management so far. So no need to think that we are biased to one side.
@Suck it up: Please suck it up.
I hate to be so harsh, but you are are sadist.
When the team was winning, you had nothing to say.
When the team lost, as expected you have everything to say.
I do not believe you ever wished MWCC (in any management capacity) to do well.
If you have words of encouragement, stand up to it and provide it.
If you want to question everything the management does, question yourself about what you have done till date to MWCC and provide us the information.
Else, suck it up.
As mentioned earlier by another good blogger...ask yourself...
whatznext dude?
And in a team, there are no super stars.
Everyone on the team is a star by their own right.
Winning and losing is a part of the game.
Everyone does not play to lose.
This MWCC team along with management, like any other team and management, gave up their long weekend, their time to spend with their family to play and cheer for their team.
They have done an awesome job.
Please take time to appreciate the good things around you.
Always think, like the earlier, appreciative blogger said...whatznext dude?

It looks like that it hurts you when I said incompetent. You need to show your competency that you can do better than what you are producing. Now do not get angry and learn to take criticisms on your accomplishments if any. The bottom line is that some of them are incompetent in this management.
I suppose it would be the same for you when your team wins, every mistake is vanished but when you lose I bet you bring this on the league umpires or something else. Only ignorant people will appreciate what we have seen. Could you please elaborate good things what they are and while you are thinking go take a cold shower to calm you down?
@Suck it up:
What have you done in MWCC until today?
Have you ever done anything fruitful or good to MWCC until today?
If no, suck it up and live with it.
What's next dude?
If you think folks in management are incomptent, can you provide examples of your competency (if any) at a management capacity until today.
If no, suck it up and live with it.
What's next dude?
Cricket is spelt as CRICKET and appreciation is spelt as APPRECIATION (whether you win or lose).
It is not spelt as "Suck it up".
What's next dude?
This MWCC team has done things that you might not have even imagined that you could do.
Appreciate what they have done.
Provide good feedback for the team to take it to the next level.
Do not be a sadist critique.
If you cannot acknowledge good cricket, then suck it up.
What's next dude?
MWCC (past and present management) have done a great job.
Let us appreciate and move on.
Few pictures of the CER finals have been uploaded on the Facebook's MWCC Community page ..
Friends: Winning or losing is just part of the game. However what mattered was our prayers seeking weaker opposition. In fact it was good cricket that won. With due respect to MWCC players who were selected I should assume the opponent played better cricket on the given day. Let'z not curse umpiring, please. We do not want to end the tournament as we started, i.e. with excuses. So pick up from here and be prepared for the future - let better judgement prevail in all aspects of the game; in or off from the field. Put your thinking hat and think whatznext dude?

Full credit to GLCC for their championship run... I did check on the umpiring in the CER tournament and found out that they were totally neutral... no GLCC umpire for GLCC games, no MWCC umpires for MWCC games etc., so we were soundly beaten by a better side and we need to accept that and move on.... Just because we were last year champions does not guarantee a win this year... our selectors had followed some defined process in naming the team and it was left to the team to execute on the field.... As we all know that cricket is a funny game, things do not happen the way we expect it to... and that makes it the most exciting game that we have all cherished all our life....
If Holland wins the World Cup, one of their top actoresses has made a pledge to make Holland happiest place.
I think our MWCC needs some motivation like this:

Any volunteers from Chicago to Cheer our CER Team?
I suggest Cupid would consider that since he has a great passion about this management.

I disagree with you that GLCC is better team than midwest. Even if you combine the other leagues as one team and try out again Midwest they will not be able to pull off the victory if you put the strong team. Now this one selectors should accept the blame for not putting great players in the team. There is no need to give symphathy speeches or cry about umpiring anymore.
Mr. Liasion officer can you confirm how many players from Canada played in GLCC? Did they follow the USACA requirements?
Agree with you Shiva Sir ... but GLCC was better than us only on that day ...
GLCC captain Shahid Malik who was Man of the Series and Man of the Finals has done nothing that big in their league last year .. http://greatlakescricket.org/Main/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=31.
But, in the CER , he was outstanding .. Shahid scored 143 runs in the CER with not getting out even once in all the matches and picked up 8 wickets for only 77 runs also ... This reminds me of the debut series Vijay Bharadwaj had in Kenya about 10 years back ...
Blame game starts again.
@SITUP: You keep coming back with putting up strong team would have made the difference. There was a process put in place to come for trails and your so called star players chose not to go presumably because they r above everyone.
If that is the case, did they atleast try to reach out why they can't come but interested in playing if selected? There are many questions to be asked from both sides. So please don't bring up the useless argument about team selection.
Guest_rule said...

It may be a useless argument for you but not to me. The bottom line is that the team selection was not done properly. We should have made a better team than what we have. Let's see how many players will advance to the next level from there.
Suck, Bloger and Biloger,
Composition of future selection panels is not going to be the same. Right.. So, How do we create them..? what is it that you propose that these bodies do? Not use stats.. fair enough.
Let me help you get started - so do we elect an independant selection commitee? (I personly dont think its a good idea.. but an idea nvrthles)
good that you have passion and you are entiled to your opinion. But please be constructive.. to this management and the ones in the future. By doing so we can make this league better.
Asher and Shahid werent available.
Sohail didnt show up for trials, neither did he communicate to management if he was available or not.
So who do you recommend to have chosen? And please dont mention Talha Mohsin.
Alpesh, nice pics. Why does the team look so down in the first few ones? Was that after the final? Where can we see the scorecards and the much maligned stats for the CER Tourney?
Hard luck guys - I know you guys did your best.
This weekend seems to have a few interesting games:
Ealges vs Rovers at RV. That should be a run fest for Laxmi, Dinesh, Ravi, etc.
Muslim Gym vs Flames - I have a feeling Mr Babar's appetite for runs will be sky high after the CER.
United vs AAA - Adnan had his eye on Ikram. Should be a good test for AAA.
Titans vs Jags should be a fun game.
Milwaukee P's are on a roll - damn they look like contenders along with Arena.
How was everyone's weekend? I was backpacking in Montana, so was completely out of touch, but good to get back to cricket this weekend.
Shekhs, Chirag, Charlie, I saw you guys had a good time in Detroit? At least so it seemed. Nice pics. Sadiq seemed to be busy pouring over the stats!! :)
Aditya .. yes, the first few pics were after the finals got over ... I have sent the finals scorecard to Shiva .. he should be uploading it on the web around today evening ...
Adi,
yeah, we had a blast....it was fun playing the Diversity cup and also watch our MWCC team play.
A few of us witnessed some big hitting by samir Raorane, when we played the diversity cup against USA Stars. One of the best knocks I've ever seen in my life.
Mr. Liasion officer can you confirm how many players from Canada played in GLCC? Did they follow the USACA requirements?

No, but you were so adamant about putting the rules on us. What happened there? Did you not raise your voice about following the USACA criteria or you forgot?

Sohail didnt show up for trial
I am sure if you talked to them they would have made them available. This poor guy sohail left out from the team intentionally by selectors. You made him come on the business day from STL to peoria 4 hours drive to show up for 10 minutes and cancelled the trial for next day without notifying him. I think none of you would do from Chicago to springfield if it is for Chicago players. Let's be realistic.
@SITUP: Are you saying that Ashar/Shahid are not representing MWCC when they played CER trials before but because management requested so? This looks like a more of a child talk and we don't need children representing the league.
About Sohail, somebody who knows more facts should answer from both sides.
No, but you were so adamant about putting the rules on us. What happened there? Did you not raise your voice about following the USACA criteria or you forgot?
=========================
You need to go back to my earlier post regarding this matter. I said we are adhering to USACA standards and I could care less if other conferences or leagues do not.
So that means USACA did not care to verify each team players status but you did care because you want to follow the ultimate governing body rules who is not even be consistent in implementation of their own rules. That is a good one.
Yep. We must follow rules so they don't come back to bite us. Two wrongs does not make one right. USACA did not enforce the eligibility criteria at CER level, but they sure will enforce it beyond. What happens then? Will you come to the rescue for those who did not meet eligibility criteria but performed in CER? I bet you will be the first one in line to point your finger at us when a particular player is omitted from the western conference. Let's not limit ourselves to CER. Let's think ahead. I know what I am doing.

So you made an extra effort by calling or emailing to other favorite teams player to find out their availability but not to sohail that you expect him to do the other way around. What is this to please Pak Gymkhana? What do you think of this double standard approach? I suppose you do not call it BS now.
No one wants to do weekend game prediction anymore?
