Welcome to Season 07. Hope you all had a great off-season.
I loved the world cup, even though Team India lost out the way they did. There were some amazing memories.. the spirit of the Irish, the monster called Hayden, Gilchrist's (and ponting) innings when it matters the most, Collingwood's catches, Gibbs six sixes, Malinga's spell to Taylor, Tamim and Ashraful's innings, ... I can keep going on.
Back to our league. There have been quite a few changes that I wanted to update you all on.
A few of you knew this earlier.. I officially stepped down as the General Secretary of our league at the second AGM. I have a lot of personal commitments for this year and didnt want to take up the role knowing that I couldnt do justice to it. I will be transitioning all my responsibilities to my replacement.
I switched teams this season. It was a hard decision to leave the Tigers after playing for 5 years. I have met some amazing people and will cherish their friendships. I will be playing for Phoenix.
People on the move(unconfirmed):
Athreya: Tigers to Phoenix
Vinod: Tigers to Wildcats
Anand: Tigers to Royals
Jaggi: Tigers to Phoenix
Naveen: Tigers to Phoenix
Venkat: PCC to Flames
Rupesh: Royals to Challengers
Sheks: No Stars to Challengers
Ankur: Flames to somewhere in the westcoast
Mateen: from Flames to United
Imran: from Chargers to NoStars
Farraz: NoStars to Acers

Jaggi you have done a great job on being General secretary. You have brought in fresh ideas all through you tenure like this blog for instance. You did definitely bring in some fresh legs into MCC management. Best part was you are easily approchable for one and all especially away teams like PCC for isntance..Your replacement will have big/tall/wide shoes to fill:) Good luck to you & ur family and all your future life endeavors
Cheers for setting a good trend..
Madhu Reddy
PCC
i agree with Madhu. Jaggi has done a great job as Secretary and whoever takes that role has their job cut out to match up with Jaggi's record. Lets hope that now he can spend more time on updating the blog (Jaggi, you can change diaper with one hand and update with the other--i have tried..it works!)
Jaggi,
Thanks for a job well done!
Romeen
Jaggi,

Jaggi, On behalf of ICC we wish you all the best for you have done great work for all of MCC on the positions you held.
We will miss such work efforts as the shoes you left behind will be very difficult to fulfill.

Has any one been able to reach the scheduling commettee. I have tried and no ans to find out what week end we are having off for July 4th.

romeen

GOOD LUCK TO ALL....for predicted runners up...show them why the games are played.....
Challengers will beat Phoenix because there is still some heat left from last year.
All the other games are wide open as it's the first week.
DIV 2, are these new teams realy new or just old teams changing their names.
Are we going to get the Fantasy league going this year???.
welcome back folks!!
Hello to Romeen, Rup and other early bloggers.
we here at milwaukee are eagerly waiting for the season to commence.we play Rogers park this weekend.hope to get to some good early season form.....they are a good team and we scrapped thru with 1 wkt chasing 150 odd last season on a difficult pitch at Lindsay Park, Mil......I do remember one of their openers (whose name I forget) scored 90+ and I guess carried the bat.
any updates on the league format this season? Heard Div I is moving to a 50 over format. does this info carry any weight to it?
also hello, welcome back and good luck to all my friends from my alma-mater Purdue for the 2007 season....are you guys playing the ohio league as well? any roster changes from last season?
sharath
The fantasy league will happen this year. Ram, from Eagles will take the lead.
Can you all update on changes to your teams, if any?
I heard Romeen is heading Wildcats this season?? If its true, congratulations and good luck !!
Still 45 overs and white clothes and a cherry!!!
I will like to add my fantasy team.
do i have to be a computer whiz to get in or is it simple?.
congrats romeen, if the news of you leading wildcats is true.....lets hope we for once can play a game not affected by the rain gods, going back to 2 regular season and 2 play off games begining 2005.
Thanks Rup for the update. 45 overs seems long enough already, but 50 would have been something.
sharath
Hey ...
Are we going to have 'pwerplays' introduced into league this year ?? Now that it is there in World cricket to stay ..
Jaggi,
One more of the many thank you's for a job well done. Sad that you had to step down from the post (specially now that you've joint our team), but consistent with your 100% effort approach.
Our team is looking forward to another season of good cricket, and hopefully we'll see the best teams win. Good luck to all.
hey... guys i wanna sign up for the fantasy league can anyone tellme how to sign up plz .......
The fantasy league is in the works. Please look out for announcements.
Rup, whats new with your team?
Alpesh, there was no talk of powerplays at the AGM. Dont think its happening this year.
I have a question on one of the rules that I notice that umpires apply inconsistently. As in, I don't mean that the same umpire applies it inconsistently, but different umpires apply it differently.
The rule is regarding 2 catchers in the first 13 overs. Does the fielding side have to have 2 catches in the first 13 overs or is it just that only 2 people can be outside the 30 yard circle?
Either way, it should be applied consistently and unambiguously.
That is true.. the umpires in our league have been inconsistent with the 2 catchers rule. A lot of that was explained in the umpiring training session. Unfortunately, the first training session was on the day of the world cup finals. We wanted to get one session done before the season started and the only day that worked out was the Saturday.
Sridhar, from Eagles needs to be commended on coordinating that. He told me that there would be more such training sessions, so hopefully teams can take advantage.
Those that did attend told me that it was a very good session.
Jaggi, thannks for the update on the fantasy league.
ICC is back with full strength..may be even a little better. will take a couple weeks to set as a we have done not practice at all??
No suburban this time !
What happened to Suburban??. Could they be West Suburban XI?.
It will be sad if they can't provide a team cause they have been around a long time and some good guys.
Yep. They are moving to ACC...
ACC???. Are they still on the 25 over game or the now made it to the next level 30 overs
ACC is actually 30 overs. Also, I am not sure, but I think suburban fell out with the management and decided to leave the league.
Great guys no doubt...
Hi Guyz,
Nice to get back to this blog.
The season kicks off this weekend, schedule is out for 3 weeks only.
Do we know when we can have the complete schedule?
Jaggi/Romeen..any information from your side?
Mirchi Pathan
Guys,
Looks like rain will take over in some games specially St.Louis & Springfield. About Suburbarn yes it is bad, I heard that Deccan Blues went to ACC too.
About the rule of 2 fielders in a catching position can someone plz mark the 30 & two 15 yards circle all season long plz pretty plz.
Complete schedule should be out by this weekend.
There is a 40% chance of rain at Hanover Park, so keeping our fingers crossed.
At this stage, I think teams need to take ownership of marking the 30 and 15 yard circle. I dont think the management has the necessary manpower for it.
It definitely is sad that we lost Suburban.
Jaggi, do you know who is responsible for scheduling. I have sent 4 e-mails to scheduling and organization with no response. also sent one to score issues and nothing doing.
I need to know what week end we are having off for 4th of July.
I need to submit my schedule for specific days off..
Some one please help me out here before the fixed schedule is out.
thanks
Rup
Marking the restrictions.
I completely agree with Jaggi that the team hosting needs to make sure this is done.
The only grounds we can probably permanently mark are the WP grounds by killing the grass on these lines??. and this may need to be done twice a year.
How much does it cost to pay somebody to mark the restrictions may $20 dollars more on the entry fees of every team. If we are paying $2400 i think i will $20 dollars more how about u guys.......
Rup, I would talk to the scheduling committee. I will send you an email and copy the scheduling committee on it.
Justice, the prob is that most park districts will not let you get an outside contractor.
thanks Jaggi.
Hi everybody,
Sharath,
You are right, somehow our game is always affected by inclement weather, hopefully this year we'll have a full game on a nice sunny day!
Really excited about seeing all you guys soon.
romeen
