Week 13 Predictions and Results

We are now officially in the business end of the season. Some teams need to wrap up their playoff spots, others are beginning their famous run to the playoffs and others fight relegation. Few teams in Division 1 or 2 have meaningless games at this point in the season. Looks like it's going to go down to the wire.....

Adi,
Can't put a single peny of blame on you or any of the other boys.. you gave it 200% which i am proud of.

I have to blame myself for this.. came it at a critical junction and got bowled playing a nothing shot..that is what I ponder on..
Yep looking forward to the next games to put a whoop'n on somebody!!!!

It looks like Eng vs SA test match is set for close finish....Pietersen is the key wicket?

Another great innings by Viru & great bowling by Mendis...

Regarding Dravid's wicket...as per laws, it is not a fair catch if the ball has touched a protective helmet, worn by a fielder although the ball remains in play.

I think he walked back before the replay.

It isnt out, the law is specifically clear on that - if it goes off protective equipment it cant be a legal catch. But things happen so quick probably nobody noticed - the umpire probably didnt notice it clipped the helmet after being juggled, the batsman walked presuming it was a catch, I dont think anybody noticed till much later after watching a few replays. There was no controversy - if Dravid had had doubts he might have stood, and then with replays it would ahve been clear.. but I doubt he noticed either.

Musings for the day....

1. Dravid doesn't seem to have that grit or fire to fight it out any more It's been some time since he's put together some sort of form, and at 1-down, that's key for a test. Time to hang it up soon as one of India's greats before he is forced out.

2. Laxman should have been in the same category, but he continues to do reasonably well. He always seems to score between 30-60 runs, but frustrating how he never gets above that. He should keep going.

3. Gangualy is an interesting question. He has shown fight and fire, specially in Australia, but he has struggled a bit. I think he has a few more games to prove his form, or he'll be out too.

4. Tendulkar is not in question. He's struggled a bit the last 2 tests, but otherwise he has played very well.

5. Time to bring in Yuvi and Rohit Sharma. Mix them with Tendy, Laxman, and Ganguly and that's a good blend.

6. Kumble's time is up. He did nothing really in Australia, and nothing in SL so far. Time for the Dhoni era in test cricket to begin.

7. A. Mendis is a freak! But an amazing one. He has the leg break, the 2-fingered googly, the flipper, the carrom ball, the off break, the doosra, and who knows what else. The best part is that you can't read his hand. You have to play him off the pitch. He could be one of the greats.... all time!

8. The England test team doesn't exactly inpire much fear. The batting is inconsistent and the bowling doesn't seem to have much teeth, specially against the better bats in the world. Flintoff remains the exception. The ashes are going to remain with the Aussies. They don't seem to have that "fire" any more.

9. SL will have to find some pace bowlers of caliber. Spinners are fine in the sub-continent, but outside they will struggle specially as Vaas finally accepts his time is over.

10. Is it just me or are the test teams getting worse? Pakistan doesn't look so good, India looks old and done, SL only looks good at home, NZ don't scare anyone, England doesn't look great, and SA can't match aggression, but are good otherwise. The Aussies are the only ones who look good and worth watching, and WI is improving, but nowhere near the old glory.

So, on such a gloomy outlook, does anyone else have something fun to discuss?

DDW,

United vs Flames will be interesting. So will Challs vs Peoria. 2 really good games.

As for Advancers, I do have some plans. Execution is the question. We'll see how it goes.... ;-)

Wonder if Moh'd Azharuddin is playing. I don't think I have plans for that contingency!!!! :(

Aditya ..

You are writing like a typical sub-continent cricket fan .. one bad test and you have started showing the doors ...

Kumble picked up about 20 wickets in Aus, which was I suppose 2nd or 3rd highest after Brett Lee .. I agree with your assessment of Dravid .. but he is a player who will surely bounce back ... Laxman scored a good century against Aussies .. plus he comes at 4 down and then he generally plays with the lower order ... So 40s or 60s are really good from him .. and he is consistent ... I think we need to bring him 1-down and send Dravid at his position ... the tactic we followed against Aussies in 2001 ..

You are saying about bringing back Yuvi, but he hardly made an impact in Tests against Aus .. about 20 runs in 4 innings ..

This can go on and on ... bro ...

--------

India (specially)in Australia:
Ganguly 4 tests, 8 inns, 235 runs, avg 29.37
Dravid 4 tests, 8 inns, 237 runs, avg 33.85

India won one test in Australia -the forever-famous Perth win. In that test, Dravid got 93 in the first innings, the highest score by *any* batsman on either side in that test match.

VVSL, BTW, had 366 runs int he above series at 45, with 1 century, and 79 at Perth (where he was last man out). He was also last-man-out in the first innings of the first test in SL for the top-score (60-odd IIRC).. his bigger problem seems to be that he is being slotted in at #6 with little help from the tail, it might be past time to push him up to #5 with Ganguly dropping down to #6. (And also maybe replacing Karthik with Parthiv for improved batting, but thats a different story :-)

Friday afternoon is certainly getting entertaining..

Finger,
Now, can we bring back Michael Jordan and expect him to put the numbers he used..
the same way..its time for Dravid to retire...we can't rely on his past numbers..
same goes with Ganguly..
How bout our youngsters, when are they gonna get a chance, when they are 30 something?

I agree with you Shekhs, they should give more chances to youngsters...
I'm surprised Rohit Sharma isn't selected..

I think they will bring back Parthiv for the next test.

Also I would rather prefer Kaif than Yuvi for Tests .. He seems to have a perfect game for Tests ..

Also Rohit Sharma is a nice talent .. but still have not done much in Ranji Trophy 4 day games .. He was playing rash strokes ans was getting out too early in his innings ... Raina has done well this season in the Ranji .. so would had preferred him over Rohit ..

Shekhs said...

I think Rohit Sharma defnitely needs to be groomed..as he has tremendous potential..

Same goes with Raina..they both need as much international test exposure as possible..

Dunno about Yuvi...he seems a lil cocky recently...needs to take it easy a bit..

Aditya said...

My India Test XI:

1. Sehwag
2. Gambhir
3. Laxman
4. Tendulkar
5. Ganguly
6. Dhoni
7. Irfan Pathan
8. Bhajji
9. Chawla
10. Zaheer
11. Ishant

Now, there can be many variations. Ganguly drops for Sharma. Or you play an extra bat with Sharma at 5 and Ganguly at 6 and only 4 bowlers. My personal preference is 5 bowlers. Bowlers can be swapped - Chawla, Ohja, Kartik. Zaheer and Ishant must be part of the team. At some point, Yuvi and Raina (in that order) get a look into the test team in place of Ganguly.

The goal should be to bring the youngster's in slowly.

Chill out. Unless the politics go away from India cricket the will be no improvement in the side for a while.
We are deling with the same crap in WI..been for years now.. evertime the turn the corner for better the political games start and the go backwards.

I must agree that at Dravid and ganguly Age and not much performance they should have been out for this series.. This series would have been a nice place to start a few youngsters??

Aditya said...

Here are over the last 12 months.

Dravid:

Games: 13
Runs: 699
Avg: 33.28

Ganguly:

Games: 13
Runs: 1101
Avg: 47.86

Laxman:

Games: 13
Runs: 915
Avg: 53.82

Tendulkar:

Games: 10
Runs: 759
Avg: 50.60

So, Alpesh, Sadiq based on the numbers, my logic bears out. If you want to give me "stats", make sure they support your theory. 1 Innings a career does not make!

Check it over a 2 year period. Dravid averages even less for 20 games. If you watch him bat, he can "hang" in there, but he's not as fluent as before. You have to be able to score, otherwise you put pressure on yourself, and on your partner. All batsmen, even in our league, can attest to this.

Aditya said...

Alpesh, check out Kaif's stats. He has struggled at the test level. He's done better at 1-days. Yuvi has a better record. The problem was that Yuvi was taken back into the side in Australia. Very tough place to play when you are just fighting your way back into the squad. I think they should start youngsters against some of the weaker teams - ZIM, WI (no offense Rup), BGL, NZ (not in NZ though), even England (not in ENG though), etc. Give them the best chance to succeed, believe in themselves, and get confidence.

Rup, I'm quite chill. Just thought I'd spark some conversation on a dull afternoon!!! :)

rup tera mastana, i was trying to ignite fire in your belly. see if you can send some to the moon. i want icc to do well. kick some arena a$$

Alpesh said...

Aditya ..

Kaif has barely got a consistent run in tests ... I think the only series where he played all the matches was against WI in 2006 ... where he played much better than Yuvi .. In the same year only .. he scored a match saving 90 against Eng and then in the next test, he was dropped in favour of Yuvi ...

Regarding ur assessment of Dravid, you are right with Statistics .. but I am sure he will make you eat your words by the time the series ends .. :)

Also ... the better plan to phase out seniors and giving chance to juniors will be ... play 2-3 seniors and 1-2 juniors in a test and then in the next test, play other seniors n juniors .. that way the team has good combination of youth n experience ...

Unknown said...

Alpesh said...

Alpesh,
I think this is the same scenario (Yuvi vs Kaif) as Tendu vs Kambli..in early days, Kambli was "considered" more technical sound batsman....but unfortunately he had to take the exit...

Unknown said...

For Kumble, at least, it isnt just 1 test match either. Yes, he did well in Australia - he got 20 wickets in 4 tests, and was pretty high up on the wickets chart (though they came at like 34 or so overall IIRC, not a *great* average per wicket).

However, after a very good first couple tests in Australia, Kumble's numbers have faded as well. Since Sydney his numbers have been:

T3 Australia: 2/42 & 2/98
T4 Australia: 1/109
T1 RSA: 2/106 & 1/57
T2 RSA: 1/78
T1 SL: 0/121

Thats last 5 tests - 7 wickets at 87.28 a wicket.

(I write this deliberately this evening, hoping to mock the woofing gods into getting Kumble a 5-fer tonight ;-)

--------

Last year Chawla was 16th in wickets in the Ranji Trophy, and Ojha was 25th. Both averaged about 32 runs per wicket - at the Ranji level! (Someone as old and past it as Sunil Joshi - also a spinner playing in the same division for example - was 8th with a bowling average of 19.88 per wicket by comparison).

*Why* must either Chawla or Ojha be part of an Indian test XI, I fail to understand. Lets just pick the best damn players, instead of getting all hung up with youth, at least in actual test cricket.

When the MCC team is selected for the CER next year, would you have all of Abhijit Joshi (UCC), Moin Babar (Flames) and Fahad Babar (Flames) on it? I sure wouldnt - I think all 3 are very good players, excellent *prospects*, but when an MCC team goes out to play the CER, I want it to be the *best* damn players, regardless of age. Let the best 18-year-olds play in the U19 team.. they can be part of the MCC team when they are actually the *best players* in MCC, not when theyre the "best young players" in MCC.

The same yardstick for the Indian test team too. Pick the best players, regardless of age. Ojha and Chawla (and, for that matter, Rohit Sharma) have not shown enough in domestic cricket to earn a crack at test cricket yet IMHO. Let them excel at the level theyre playing at first, before we think of replacing all-time-India-greats with them, just because they happen to be young.

Another Div1-heavy day at WP.

I umped the PakGym-RogersPark game. Pak won the toss and batted, and Bakshi and Imran smacked 50/0 off 6 overs. Then Asmar came on (after 6 overs!) and bowled an outstanding spell, and Zeeshan was very good at the other end - both openers fell, and everything slowed way down. It was only 86/2 off 20 overs (ie only 36 off 14 overs). Both Irfan and Maqsood batted very sensibly (36 and 41). Pak were 180/8, but 25* from Raheel carried them to 221.

RP started quickly again - 30 in 5 overs - before Yawar was bowled by a beautiful piece of bowling from Shahid (a searing bouncer that was a noball, followed by another searing bouncer at chest height, and then a terrific, perfectly pitched and disguised slower ball that took the stumps). Kami fell early this time, but Nasir and Sufiyan were carrying on just like last week before a terrific diving catch at longon by Shahid off Sufiyan a couple of overs before break. Thus RP went into break at 93/4 at 20. At 25 overs they needed 114 off 20 overs with still 6 in in hand, and it looked like anybodys game.. but then Nasir was dismissed, 3 wickets fell in 2 overs, and eventually RPCC ended up about 140 allout to lose by 80 or so runs.

Meanwhile Flames batted first against United, and did very well early.. when I went there during break, they were 93/3 in 22 overs. They proceeded on post-break to 105/3 apparently.. and then collapsed completely to 127 allout (7/22)! Dhiraj got 3, and both spinners (Kiran and Amit) got about 3/20 apiece in the middle order. United apparently made it with 4-down in 30-odd overs (Kiran, IIRC, had 50*).

The third game was Bears/Wildcats, the best game of the day. Bears were 74/2 off 17 overs when I first went there during break.. they apparently progressed onto 90-odd for 2, before sliding to 165 allout. Sanjay claimed 4/9 off 9 overs in the middle-order to spark the collapse. When I went there during our last break, the Wildcats were cruising at 99/2 off 19 overs.. they apparently cruised on to 111/2, and then collapsed dramatically to 131/7! Thus they needed 35 more with 3 wickets in hand.

Sanjay and Ajit ground slowly towards the target.. and then, with 25 runs still needed, Sanjay was clean bowled.. but it was a no-ball! Surviving that, both Sanjay and (birthday boy) Ajit batted very sensibly and stitched together a hugely vital 35-run 8th wicket stand to carry the Wildcats home to a critical win.

Major impacts on playoff positions, obviously - both Pak and United got very important wins today, while Flames and RPCC suffered difficult losses. RPCC plays another critical game tomorrow, in a back-to-back (Milwaukee CC visiting). Bears and Wildcats were almost next to each other on the table - a very big win for the Wildcats here, and now both teams will need to win almost all their games to be sure of the playoffs (Bears are at 18 with 4 games left, Wildcats at 16 with 5 games left).

I was umpiring a game between Wildcats and Bears...... and had given a few LBW decisions, which in my opinion were PLUMB OUT..... But at the end of the game, I had to face a screaming player who thought he had snicked the ball before it hit the pads...... I did not know how to react since the game was over and however much I tried convincing, it did not go well with the player..... I want to bring to everyones attention that umpiring is a real thankless job and people have to be sportive enough to accept the umpires decision.... none of the umpires I presume are doing things intentionally and so one or two decisions might not be to the liking of one and all... but it has to be taken in the right spirit..... to be frank, it is impossible to give a right decision all the time... there is so much happening and so little time to recover before giving out a decision... I wish people can appreciate all this.....

JR defeated Collinsville in a nail biting thriller at Collinsville. COllinsville batted first making 167 all out in 35.3 overs. JR replied with 173/9 in 37.3 overs.

- Anit Banerjee opened for Collinsville and scored 80 odd.

- Ravi Patel opened for JR and scored a quick 30 off 19 balls. Vishnu made his 4th 50.

- Debutant Ashish Murali got 5 for 31 and won the game for JR in a thrilling fashion with 12 runs in 4 balls.

- JR needed 13 runs in 4 overs with 3 wickets in hand when Vishnu got out. When 7 runs were needed, I got out heaving a ball and taking the edge to be caught by 1st slip leaving 7 runs to win in 2.5 overs with only 1 wicket remaining. In comes Ashish, first ball short outside off ...thumping cut shot over point to the boundary. 3 to win, a huge heave the next ball, ball takes the outside edge and the 1st slip puts it down ...the exact same way he took Ravi and my catch ... 2 runs taken. 1 run to win, Ashish clears the extra cover boundary for a six and seals a victory for JR.

A dream debut for Ashish who was declared MoM

We had 2 fantstic games this weekend! Chargers almost chased down 254 target we set em if hadn't been the for tore webbing of Vijay (charger). He was last man to bat to get 3 runs of 2 balls. He could only bat with 1 hand! Very valiant effort and kudos to chargers for such great game! Great team to play and just fantastic talents. This the first time I got to see Irfan Aka Guddo in action. Just smacked and smoked us! What fantastic knock of 57 in 53 balls. Cannot say anything more about Kami and Rafi..Wish guys the best.. special mention goes to Reed the Yankee! :-) Yes he is American playing cricket. What a great fielder! Its very nice to see the Localites taking interest. Reed had played cricket in NY growing up is what I have been told.. Wish him the best he will turn into great cricketer..
we know that this is the match you guys should have WON! You are a great team! Keep it up plug away..Only good things can happen from now on...

Now coming to Chals. There big thurnderstorm in the morning and it was completely unexpected as weather report said it will heat index of 100! Challs hang out with us and helped dry the pitch and agreed to play 30 over game. We started the game at 1:30 PM. Chals batting first were cruing at 10 over initially then with great bowling by Kiran, Yousaf and Kashif got em under control. We got em all out for 153 in 27 overs. Then we batted and we lost first wicket in first ball of the over to Sajay Patel special inswinging yorker. Then we consolidated well in cruise control needing 28 runs in 6 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Then quickly few wickets chals turned the tide! A run out of inform Yousaf complicated things for us we need 8 runs of 7 balls when last wicket fell! It great game over all and chals are great team to play against. I will let sheks write a details report and I have been warned by Challs NOT to post more than one paragragh..:) hehe Wish you guys best..!

I have to say this:
This Peoria team is extremely talented, can beat any team any given day.....and they were missing 3-4 of their stars..so kudos to you guys Madew...a brilliant game..after playing on saturday..
Hey that runout of Yousuf was by me.. :-)
although, I believe the turning point of the game was when Vishal got Vijay runout with a brilliant direct hit...a coupla more overs and you guys would have had it..

Thanks for a great game and some yummy pizza!!

Some upsets and quite a few low scoring games. What happened., grounds should be pretty quick these days..
Except for Hazlewood..It was pretty wet when we started but got dryer as we played.

Yep it was alow scoring triller.
Arena won the toss and put ICC in to bat..The ball was doing everything you don't expect..with the wicket being wet and playing from one side only.
We scraped, tumbled and roll to 41in 12 overs with extras top score at 20.

Arena came out with much beter batting conditions..Icc was bent on putting a fight on..we nearly had them as soon they were not pretty at 6 for 13 in 11 overs. Once me and Jack came off the got home easily loosing no more wickets.
Kudos to Arena to the heavy duty effort put in to even make the game playable. The hosing was great hope ICC will get a chance to re=pay.

Man ICC has got to get 11 players to the park. We went with 9 to Arena and if this keeps up there will be no more ICC.

---------

I was umpiring next door, and so didnt see the decisions and cant comment - but I would like to wholeheartedly agree with the above. Mistakes can happen, and do happen (and will, unfortunately, continue to happen since we are all human) - sometimes people have to be more accepting of it. As an umpire all you can do is your best, and try and minimize the number of mistakes you make.. but at the same time it would be nice if players are more willing to accept that sometimes we umpires make errors :-)

And sometimes, actually, the player can be wrong too, just as the umpire can be! Two examples from yesterday when I umped the Purdue/MuslimGym game... there were 2 huge caught-behind appeals during the Muslim innings. One was Mehmood.. he withdrew his bat from the line of the ball, Purdue felt he got a bottom-edge as he did.. I thought he didnt hit it, and gave it not out. (Post-game, Mehmood was still confident he had not hit it.. but the Muslim non-striker told me he felt it may have been an edge.. the batsman may not have been aware of it, and I wasnt either, but that might have been a call I missed). The other was with Saad later - he was completely and utterly confident he hadnt hit it, I was sure he did hit it and gave him out. The non-striker also confirmed later he felt it was out, and the leg-umpire also confirmed later that he heard a big sound (with Saad playing away from his body, the sound could only have come from the bat).. but Saad, who is a very honest guy, swore even later that he felt absolutely *nothing* on his bat. This decision Iam confident even now that it was completely correct - and in this case the player was wrong! (Honestly, bats and gloves and general equipment are so much better now than back in the old days, sometimes bats may easily not feel a touch).

What I would like to also add, however, is that neither MuslimGym nor Purdue said *anything* about either decision above - one may have been right, one may have been wrong, but both teams sportingly accepted it as soon as it happened and moved on from there. There was no mention of it, no complaints, either during the game or later from anyone - after the game I went up to individual players and discussed these things above because *I* wanted to clarify things in my mind. But the players concerned from both teams behaved exactly as they should have - even if one may have been an error, they accepted it as part of the game and moved on. This IMHO is how all players ought to always behave. (And usually, really, most of our league players do - Ive umpired the Wildcats lots of times, and their playrs have always been quite accepting of possible errors on my part, Ive found, quite different from what Shiva said above - but then there can always be an aberration, anyone can have a bad day).

ICC is in bad shape.. We know this is a problem but did not forsee it to be this big.
too many emergencies and Family commitments is the reason why we are coming up short and weak frequently.
I don't think we can turn it around this year so we will enjoy what's left of the season.

Rup said...

Agreed Umpiring is a thankless job but as umpires some of you get into argumments and trouble for questiong you own calls.
Stop doing this and you will be fine finger..once you start doubting your self then others will have doubts about you.

for the umps out there.. follow these two rule and you will not get much headaches.
1: Make a call as you see it and not hear it. Sounds are made by a lot of objects and unless see it hit the bat you can't give it out.
2: you rule the game.. all players play under the rules of Cricket as sanctioned by ICC and your league and you are there to make sure the rules are adhered to.

as confucious will say.."respect is earned and not given"

We have 7 games (30 overs each) to be played in total...when do you reckon we play those?

DeepDownWithin said...

sheki tell me when we get to spend time with family??? weekends, we leave home at 8am and come back at 7pm. my commitment to family is no cricket over long weekend. take one weekend off, have 4 teams ( winners from previous year-challengers, pak, ind, usa). that is how MLB does it and its a huge success. it appears that a world cup is being done just for the sake of getting it done. no offense!!

Shekhs said...

I hear you deep down..I'm in the same boat as you are...and do have plans for that weekend as well, which now needs to be altered..

Now the issue is to take a weekend off....as with the rainouts and reschedules, we already are behind schedule..

No offense taken bud...was trying to get your opinion and alternative suggestion on the same..

yeah, I agree the timing for a mini world cup is not exactly great..

Madew,
That actually sounds more like a chaos theory to me..imagine all the Challengers wanting to play in one team....we might as well field our own team..
I think it will take the fun outta the tournament..

Personally, I believe that we should split up all the existing teams..like Pak Gym and Challengers definitely need to be split...

I'll definitely pass your idea to the Mini World Cup committee..

Madew said...

Sheks,
You are absolutely right. SOme times 'A TEAM' is better than a 'Best of Assorted' team...Ask USA Dream team basket ball they will tell you..My point being You are trusting the team manager/captain to make the choices for the team and Its players reponsibility to pick teams in best manner possible...Its way MCC management giving back responsilbity to its members..Give me Team India Orange responsibility I will take care rest of the stuff and show you what I am talking about..hehe....:)

Sheks,
Another way is for the management to nominate Team Managers and they will be reponsible for their teams and player communication. We have team announcement deadline when all team need to announced on the web. A 15 member roster for each team will be fantastic..Leave logistics who plays when to the team..No one wants to loose you know that..Thats the motivation..Let me know what rest of the bloggers think of this..?

Ram,
That should work I think...Captains nominated by Management right..? But who gets who is the questions? Is it by lobbying process or is some one there say u get him and he get him sort of model? Anyway, its a good start..Another good idea would be..Have India Green from Div-I and India Orange Div-II &Div-III same goes to Pak, for SL and World XI they can get any one from all divisions...

I think its better to mix all the divisions, so people will get to know each other, and there will be more Camaraderie..

Hello Tariq,

Do you guys have an update about this issue?

We have provided you all the details and proofs on this regard. And there is a rule (13.6) defined if the team fails to abide by it, so I am not sure what is stopping you guys to go ahead and give a decision in our favor. It will be great if you can let us know about it by end of this week.

Thanks,

Hello Krishna/Tariq,

We are not accepting this decision in any regard. If a rule was defined then follow it, we have always been on the receiving end and we are not accepting this without any considerations. When we spoke to you guys, you said that you are going to go strictly by the rules for the Phoenix game where it was just a matter of small balance amount that was to be paid and now what happened to your consistency in following the rules.

Just because the opponent team is Challengers you cannot just change the rules on fly or mold them according to the team. If you want to change the rules change it for the next season but not during the season. Show some consistency guys and gain some respect from the teams.

Again we will not accept this decision and want the points we deserve because of the violation of rule by Challengers team. We would like you guys to consider it a high priority issue and give a fair decision to MUCC. The consequences will not be good if the decision is not given in our favor. If required we will go to the extend of banning and also get all the other league teams in our favor by putting across all the proofs we have about this issue.

I would like you guys to reconsider this decision and get back to us ASAP.

Thanks,
Javed

Hi Javed,

I had sent the report to management after our game, but was not able to attend the management call for the last 2 weeks because of personal commitments.

As far as your Challengers game is concerned, we should warn Challengers as it not acceptable, any future incidents will lead to serious actions from the league. We should also modify the rule, to have this an extreme situation and needs to be informed to the umpire & the opponent captain for confirmation/acceptance before the game. If rejected by either one of them then the player cannot play. Also the umpire is equally responsible, he should have the roaster of the teams before the start of the game.

So in my perspective lets move on, modify the rules to make it more stringent, leave it to the captains/umpires and make them more responsible before we get into situations like this where management have to be involved in these petty issues. Hey its our league lets learn and correct our mistakes and move on.

Player_MUCC,

Just as an FYI, we had the same issue with the Royals game. They did not have one of their players updated on the roster. We lost the game but going by the rules of the league, it should have been awarded to us. That is why I took long to update that scorecard. I was told the same thing you were, but since we lost fair and square (we did not deserve 4 points and the Royals were good opponents), I did not push the matter any further. But, in the end, rules should be consistently upheld or bent for all teams.

But I do request that you guys don't go to the extent you have threatened in your email. I would request that, instead of waiting for a decision, you request for a meeting (phone call or in person) with the management team and try and resolve the matter amicably. Extreme decisions should only be the final action. But you have options in front of you as of now, and though you have been patient, do try and actively excercise those options before any drastic measures are taken.

Good luck.

royal samir dont give mucc advice. u same boat as challs so of course u say that. u not have credit 2 talk on this.

confushus say: man with small penis should not give advice on satisfying a woman!

aditya u made mistake. rules r rules and u shud made big deal. next time team show up with div 2 & 3 players and mix challs and pak gym. rule in place 4 reason and although mistake should not b violated. stupid of u.

mucc should push this. not just accept it. otherwise u like anonymous. need vaseline 2 ease pain. u deserve ur management. ur fault 4 not voting.

confushus say: league without rules is like cricket without ball. no point playing....

My point being You are trusting the team manager/captain to make the choices for the team and Its players reponsibility to pick teams in best manner possible...Its way MCC management giving back responsilbity to its members..Give me Team India Orange responsibility I will take care rest of the stuff and show you what I am talking about..hehe....:
=================================
I totally agree with the concept. Leadership should be from front.
Madew I will put my USA blues against your orange buddy :)

Shekhs said...

Rup,
The Evanston team has something going on that weekend (labor day weekend). At least thats what I heard, and with whats left over WI folks in your team, I dont think the committee could form a WI team...
The only guy available from the Evanston team is Perry.

Rup USA XI is not official. I was just joking with Madew. I have no idea what teams are being formed.

Thanks for the FYI Shekhs..
I see the format has already been set and published on the site so i guess there will be no WI team for real.
Adnan there is a USA XI on the map.

I will try to make this..but given no WI team which was going to be my Excuse for play'n on the holiday week end.
Got to find another good excuse for the misses to get away for this one.

-----------------------------------
I can not even begin to say how wrong that comment was. When Tendulkar was brought in at age 16, was he expected to be the best in the indian team? It takes proper exposure to groom youngsters.. what will a 30 year old do getting to play at such a high level..it is the youngsters that absolutely need exposure! How will they get better unless the opposition also gets better?! If there is any sense then in this world cup being planned there will be a team with youngsters in it this is the team i suggest
1. Abhi Joshi* MWCA + UCC
2. Shahmeer Jaguars
3. Salman Q Bears + Strikers
4. Mihir Purdue
5. Moin MWCA + flames
6. Fahad MWCA + flames
7. Vaibhav MWCA + Chicago
8. Vidur IIT
9. Sapan (if he can travel)
10. Osama of RP
11. Akhil Sridher of MWCA good bat good keeper
This is a very good team! and guarantee it will not come in last... lets give these kids what they want and deserve.. a chance!
