DEEPDOWN Said: madhu, you did not get div-2 team bcos you supported jaggi and not tariq. how can they refuse you and allow arena????
Well my dear friend, just to clarify, if you look at the players who played games for arena this year, majority of them are new comers, some of us have only a year of association with this league and a only a few more than a year. Also we were not part of the election process as we did not have a team last year. So your assumptions are baseless and miles away from facts.
We were allowed based on the fact that we do have some good talent and moreover it is Midwest Cricket Conference and not Chicago Cricket Conference.
The aim should be to promote cricket and league not to be region specific and narrow in our approach.
You can differ with my opinion, you have a right to but it would be unwise to associate elections with Arena.
ajoy, i like you guys.. i have no issues with arena. madhu made the point that his team was not allowed new team in div2 bcos of distance from chicago. i think you will agree with me that arena is further from chicago than peoria. the only reason madhu was not allowed new team is bcos madhu supported jaggi. sheki yours and madhu's point about having some regionals meet up is good.
Haven't received any input on suggestions for Div 2 restructuring next season. We appreciate input from anybody, especially those who are part of Div 2, by September 5th 2008. This is your chance to contribute. Afterall, its in your interest.

Batting first, Illinois were all out for 209, with good scores by Rup, Collins and Ramesh.
Eagles chased the score in the 39th over, helped by Seshu's 88 and Preetam's 37. They were involved in a century+ partnership to revive Eagles from a precarious 54/3.
It was a very good win for the Eagles. ICC is a damn good team and on any given day they will give any team a run for their money. This win for us was more emotional than anything else. Many seasons ago we posted the lowest score of the league. 16 all out. And the team that did that to us was ICC. And so winning against them was very satisfying. Seshu played a magnificient inning and the 120 run partnership between me and Seshu got us back into the game after some initial setbacks. Rup, take care of your leg. Don't aggravate it.
A fantabulous victory by Titans against CCI beating them by 6 wickets ..
CCI electing to bat first were bowled by 174 in 38.1 overs with Extras - 57 being their chief contributor. Faraz (3/19), Tafazzul (3/32) were the most successful bowlers. Chasing this score on the Hammond wicket should not have been difficult, but given our proven history .. this was a score to achieve.
Faraz led us in the chase and scored an unbeaten 100* (88). He hit 10 4s and 3 6s and was involved in an 82 run partnership with Mughiz 24(48). Faraz went berserk after scoring his first fifty runs and reached from 50 to 100 in just 24 balls.
A nice match at the batting paradise in Hammond ...
JR win against Hammond. Hammond, put in to bat on a lightning fast outfield, posted 192 all out in 36 overs. Prasanth & Ashish each took 3 wickets for JR.
JR chased it in only 22 overs with 3 fifties from Ravi 51(33b) Dinesh 50(27b) and Kedar 50(39b).
Kd, Whats up with JR this year bud? They are a pretty good team this year and I dont see a lot of the old players who used to play.. did you guys have a revamp?
Its good to be back on the blog... crazy last couple of weeks with school.
Our game against Muslim got postponed. Our condolences go out to Karman Yousuf and his family on the loss of his dad.
We have a game against Milwaukee coming up, then Pak and we will have to figure out when we play Muslim. We have been in a bit of slump, but hope/have to get out of it.
Also wanted to comment on Hanover Park's new surface. Two thumbs up to all those involved. The surface looks good with good bounce. They have also done a good job with the run up. The outfield was heavy when we played, but that can be very easily taken care of.
Congratulations to all those that won over the weekend. Looks like the Cats Vs St Louis game went down to the wire. Naren/Romeen, can one of you give us a summary?
Ajoy I heard about a controversial decision in your game. Let's see if anyone here can shed some light on this.
This is what I heard bowler pitches the ball, batsman get caught and walks, bowlers hand hits the stump and umpired declares a dead ball and call him back. Ajoy is this your interpretation too?
After winning the toss Lucky chose to bat and were all out for 129. Now that is a score a team should be able to chase easily - yah right not when you are playing with 7 regular members of Chicago Giants.
Lucky bowled the so called Giants out for 80. This is the season we would like to completely erase from our memory. Though I have been known to have selective -amnesia. :-)
yes Tonald that is my interpretation too and that is what exactly happened.
But the game resumed without any heated discussions or arguments or fight:), which goes to show maturity of both teams and the spirit the game was played in.
AAA is a good team but we had a plan going in to the game, as some of us including me had already played them last season when they played in DIV- I.
Also to mention about the umpires who come to adjudicate the games for Arena games are not known most of the times to us. It is handled by managment and we come to know only at the last moment who is going to be the umpire.
St Louis won the toss and elected for field first, and WC started their innings with Romeen and Sanjay, and Sanjay was out without troubling the scorers, Krishna came first down played and missed a couple and he tried to close the face of the bat but the ball took his outside edge and gave a simple catch in the slips. Ajit joined Romeen and when we thought things were going well Romeen got out LBW for 9, and we were in a difficult situation, Vikram joined Ajit and both of them started playing well, Vikram was in good nick clearing the rope with some distance and he got a ball which kicked and took his glove on the way to the keeper. It was a tough game in terms of how hot and humid it was on Saturday and it was difficult for both the teams to concentrate on the game, and WC paid the price for not concentrating enough when it was a pretty important game. We lost a couple of wickets and at one stage WC were 87 for 8 with about 15 overs remaining and we were getting ready for another low scoring game, and at that time Ajit was joined by Atul and both of them gradually started playing to safety and then Ajit got going and started to clear the field at will albeit a couple of dropped catches. Ajit got out trying to accelerate and we ended up scoring 150 in 40 overs.
STL Started their innings and Sohail was aggressive from the start and he was taking his chances and the ball was falling in no mans land most of the times and Nikhil was in the middle of a good spell and he got both Raj and Mujahid to edge balls and Ajit took a blinder at first slip. Sanjay came on to bowl and he got Sohail out soon and then Irfan got out trying to hit through point, and at this point we thought we had a chance. Amit and Shoaib started playing with caution, and they were playing well taking few risks and scoring enough runs and runrate was never a problem for them so they were taking their time to get used to the bowling. At this time the heat took its toll on a few of our players and we had to play the rest of our innigs with 9 people. When we thought the game was slipping away Krishna took a blinder of a catch to get Amit out on Cover boundary, and that brought us back into the game, and at one stage STL was around 90/7. We thought this would also be a game like the previous game against Royals where we came back to win from no where but Tehsin and Manojit played well to take them home, and probably I was the culprit to drop Tehsin when they needed around 35-40 runs and then they just smoked us..
It was a hard loss for us and now our play off chances depend a lot on how we perform against Challengers and also on the NRR/rain gods/and what not… This Play off situation is getting pretty interesting with about 8 teams fighting for 4 spots which are theoretically open, and which might go down to the last week..
Btw ... have the teams for the Mini World-Cup been declared ?? The teams should be given some time to know each other .. otherwise it mite happen that captain will give oppurtunities to only those he knows ...
i believe one player from pak plays for acc. is it true????? --------------------------------- ok i had to dig deep to get this infomation. his name is ashar and he used to play in our league but went to acc since we dont play regionals. his team in acc is out of playoffs and so now came back to pak to help during playoffs. question is, is this allowed????? i hope we can have good and proper discussion about this.
Deep, Yes you are right. Ashar plays for ACC and now is playing for Pak Gymkhana. He is a good talent that left our league and the reason, I believe(I could be wrong), was our non-participation in the regionals.
Till date, I was not sure if he joining Pak mid-season was a violation or not. However, the management has updated the MCC ground rules and added the following:
"31.2. Teams that recruit established current year registered players from other leagues to play in MCC shall be condemned severely. If found guilty the team captain and the player shall be suspended from the league and fined – the term and the fine to be decided by the management."
Ashar is a good talent and we welcome him back. With the above rule in place, I think he can be back only next year?
Tt typically gets quiet the week before the long weekend.
We(Blues) lost to the Royals last night. Batting first, we put up 115 in 20 overs, definitely short by 30/40 runs. The Royals chased it down with 2 overs to spare. As always, its great playing against Royals.
Sorry to see your team losing all the 3 matches .. and Congrats to Royals for finally pulling it off ..
Seeing no updates from the Mgmt about Mini-Worldcup makes me think if it was a 'September fool' (as April fool) trick to spoil lot of player's long weekend plans ...
Rohit, We are planning to start the ALNT playoffs next week, hopefully by 09/02/2008. However, we still have one outstanding game to be played/ finished. We are in the process of rescheduling that game. We have to calculate the net run rate for each team after that game, as that particular game has an impact on the final standings.
Worst case scenario, we'll start the playoffs in the second week of September - 09/08/2008.
If it rains tonight, we'll have to play tonight’s game next week.
Finally having teams selected for the weekend games..i don't see any balance in the teams. It seems to me either of Pak's team can easily thrash other teams.
Atleast one end indian team should have been from Div II rather than mixed to check how best of division players fare. Also, i see some players who might be playing U-19 tourney in FL will be playing this weekend in Chicago, unless those players are not going.
Anyway good luck to all teams and hope it will be fun to watch.
Lets see... I know what i am getting from ICC and Evanston and Fire.. I looked at the stats of the other players and I will talked to them before the game for more feed back. My Team looks weak on paper but we will be a handful..you'll see.
It's 20/20 and all it takes is one good innings or bowling spell and you got yourself a win!!!!

RP lost to Shahdab 11 by 12 runs. Batting first SD11 score 137 all out and RP were all out in 19th over for 125.
thanks Atif..appreciate the feedback..
it was a close game...tough luck RPCC...
that group is like the group of death....
tough group..
no problem Shekhs.
RP had a off day and I still hope they qualify. It's always fun to play against Nasu, Shiraz, Asmar and Faraz.
RP can qualify if they beat Pak and Wildcats beat Pak as well..
its a tough situation..
