Due to the unfortunate demise of one of our team mates two days back, we do not think it would be appropriate for us to play this weekend. We plan to reschedule the game against Royals.

Our sincere condolences and support to his family in India.

Thanks for your support guys.....we MUCC as a team are really shattered when the news poured in and it has been suggested that he committed suicide.

Was a great guy to be around.....very very unfortunate and tragic. He was about 28 years old and had a great future ahead of him. Let us all join in praying for his family back home.

Deepest sympathies to his folks.

purdu vs flame
everyone thought that it would be a exciting match but it turned into one sided match and perdu crushed flames.
but it was exciting to see an 15 yrs kid who opened the inning he runs realy slow but he can bat pretty well he was playing very nice stroke on other side we took kiran early in the match out. after that a guy named rafiq played fine but he couldnt stay for longer on the other side our guys didnt give flames a chance to hit in early overs we bowled very nicely and our home boy Ruchir he bowled really fast and took three quick wicket on other hands Chintan bowled really nice and he also took three quick wicket and a player named vankit was playing nice but no one suported him and our old rivival y-arshad we took him off first ball and we rap their innings on 106/10 in 30 ovrs and when we batted we were looking good but after some time nasir and moan took three quick wickets but we just bumped over that and played some good shots and Pradeep Perera and Sachin Pahuja had a brilliant partner ship and took the match away from flames and we raped the score in 30 ovrs for loss of 3 wickets.
good luck guys thats the way keep it up if there would a man of the match it would have been given to arshad yousuf sahab just kidding guys he was the only bowler who got four consecutively in last overs, but guys our champion Ruchir Saheba would be the man of the match.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chicago Acers win their first game of the season by 4 wickets. West Suburban XI batted first and were immediately on the backfoot as Hasan picked up a wicket in the second over of the match. They posted 136 with the aid of 40-50 wides bowled by us. Yusuf picked up 4 wickets and Hasan 3. They were the wreckers in chief but Mohammed Ali also picked two crucial wickets. The batting got going in hurry as i went opening and took the initiative this time. The second over went for 12 runs and we were off to a rollicking start. I stayed aggressive and was playing on 44 when the clouds opened up and out came the rain in the 13th over. After an hour or so delay we decided that we didnt want to settle for the given two points and we cleaned up the field as much as we could and dried the pitch with our shoes by scraping the water from the center of the pitch. I got out a few runs later for 47 aided by 4 fours and 2 huge sixes. The second being a beautiful flick that went the distance. After that Waqar and Mohammed Ali consildated the win by playing almost 20 overs between them but in the process only 15-20 of the required 60 runs were scored off the bat as we were greatly aided by their wayward bowling as we had aided them earlier in the day. Once again Congratulations to Chicago Acers on our first win of the season and may we have many more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow....ICC lost to Chicago Giants. Warriors handed over some real drubbing by Moline Cricket Club which should prompt someone to start a thread on lowest scores in MCC. Kudos to the captains of all the winning teams this weekend.

Challengers Vs Milwaukee
Lincoln Park, Milwaukee 05/20/2007

Milwaukee won by 10 runs.

Challengers lost a close one, where Milwaukee kept their nerves and pulled out a well deserved victory.

Challengers won the toss and elected to field.

Milwaukee lost their in form opener Romesh early, but the other opener Riaz held his place very well.
Milwaukee batsmen played the initial overs really well even though the run rate was low.
But then the slow bowlers were brought in and they ran through the batting, with Mrudul bowling an outstanding spell claiming 4 wickets. Mrudul bowled some good left arm off spinners and mixed his quicker ones very well. He definitely is a good find for Challengers this year. Bhavesh too bowled very well to claim 3 (IIRC).
Aided with some power hitting from Khawar, Milwaukee managed to reach 141.

Challengers started disastrously losing early wickets. Milwaukee bowlers were shaping the ball to move at least half a foot and ran through the top order reducing Challengers to 25/3. Then Asif rolled up his sleeves and mesmerized us with some of his spin magic and managed to take some key wickets of Mahesh and Daxx. Challengers were 53/6.

A gritty and gutsy partnership between Tushar and Gitesh managed to take Challengers to 88/6 at the break (23overs).
Tushar and Gitesh continued their good form and Challengers looked like they were going to win with only 15 required off 15 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
Asif wasn’t done yet, took a peach of a return catch to dismiss Tushar in his last over and struck the vital blow to reduce Challengers to 127/7.
Shakir and Farrukh ran through the remainder of wickets to bundle out challengers for 131.

Batting is obviously a huge concern for us and we definitely need to work hard on our batting.

Fast_N_Furious said...

I think ICC is done... Cooked stick a folk in them... They cant even field a complete team against a good opponent... What type of team is that when they have played 2 lolly pop teams at first then get a competitive team in Chicago Giants and they CHOKE.. guys stayed home because they have crap to do or they are scared?
WOW!!! Welcome to Div 2 again in 2008 see ya

For the second week in a row, we faced breezy, cold and cloudy conditions. Yet again, there was a strong southern wind that made it very tough to bowl from one end.

Pak won the toss and elected to bat. The opening bowlers(Priyank and Mitul) kept a very good line, restricing Pak to a score 0f 32 in 10 overs. Priyank was outstanding, forcing Hasan to play and miss a bunch of times. He also managed to get two nicks of Hasan, but both were put down. Luckily, Hasan didnt do much damage and was caught at point. The other opener, Imran kept a cool head and scored a half century. Irfan, who blasted an over pitched ball to covers was stunned when he saw Priyank(short covers) holding on to that bullet of my bowling. At the end of 20 overs, Pak was 88 for 2. Enter Shahid Munir.. you could clearly see why he is rated so highly. He ran the singles and twos very hard and when offered the length, cleared the field quite easily. He was dropped once on 67, but then got out to a well made 71. The last 20 overs went for 180 runs with Farman(62*) doing most of the damage with 6-7 sixes. Mazhar gave good support initially to Shahid and then to Farman.

To chase 280, we needed a good start from our openers, Shiv and Sameer. Shiv was unfortunately run out, but Sameer continued the good work with a couple of good hits. Aditya and Fabian were at the crease and had a good partnership going. We were 60 for 2 in 15 when it started pouring. We definitely were well within reach of 88 in 20. Pak would have breathed a sigh of relief knowing that rain came 5 overs earlier, it certainly would have been cruel from their perspective to have lost this game based on the 20 over totals.

One really wonders if this 20 over rule is fair or if D/L be introduced. I am sure there are softwares around that will let us calculate the D/L requirements. It is definitely something worth considering for next season.

Just wanted to thank Sridher Jagath(Eagles) for doing a great job umpiring. It certainly was not an easy day.. I tip my hat to his dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge of the game!!

Fast'n'furious.. ICC is not cooked or done. We had some individual emregencies and came up short.
As much as we in ICC love this game, I have always saud Family comes first. So, be it 1 or 2 in 2008 ICC will still be there.
Don't worry about Div 1 as we are not going to dissapoint ourselves in trying to achieve.
Our ultimate goal is to make the playoffs this year and then we will go from there.

Rup said...

ICC vs Giants.
Man it was too cold for cricket but Giant played a great game to kick our behinds.
We started of weel but the run out of collins was the Jinx that we never recovered from. I hung in there till the end but lost wicket at the other end frequently and thus we scraped 76 for 8.
Giants started off with a flyer as the short fielding side left a lot of openings.
Once we break the opening partnership we picked uf 5 quick wickets, Aaron 2, jack 2 and one run out. but 76 was never enough as the ball got dead and the 6 wicket pick up the last 15 runs to win.
Kudos to Giants. ICC ??????.

We also need to allow the teams to enter the batting and bowling figures if the match is rained out, as a lot of times the players make a good fifty or even a hundred or get a 5fer and are unable to enter the numbers.
In the case of Pak and Phoenix, I'm sure Shahid (not that he needs it) and Farman would have appreciated if their scores were updated

My first three wicket haul in a long time.. I would have liked it too :). I know teams have suggested this before.
How does this work in the international level? Are scores completely ignored if rain intervenes?

Good show Jaggi man, hardluck with the score entry... :-)

Alpesh said...

Jaggi ..

Robin Singh's only hundred in ODIs came against Srilanka in a rained out match.

So .. MCC should allow us to enter the rained out matches scores ...

Raheel said...

Jaggi as I understand it, all the records are kept in international matches, even if the match is abandoned after one ball, the data for that one ball is recorded. I think we should allow that in MCC, not only for the personal records (like Jaggi, Shahid, Farman ...) but also for NRR calculation as it is often the tie breaker come playoff time.

The debate about the rain rule is more complicated. Duckworth-Lewis first of all requires 5 years data and then based on that it makes the resources calculation (overs, wickets) for the batting side. For example, it will crunch all the numbers and come out with an average innings and scores are available for each wicket down based on the first inns score. I don't think this is applicable in MCC as we don't have computers handy at the grounds ;).

Taking the overall runrate and applying it to 20 overs might be a solution, but it could work against the side batting second if the rain arrives unexpectedly and they have been preparing for the long haul instead of 20 overs. As things stand, it is in the favor of side batting second as only the score for 20 overs is taken into account and not the wickets down. Anyone for the 'least scoring overs dropped' rule that was such a hit at the 1992 world cup ;)?

Have a good memorial day weekend all and hopefully when we resume on June 2, 3 weekend the conditions won't be as brutal (I'm thinking atleast 30 degrees warmer)!

MWCC, once again thank you guys for your great support.

after some initial autopsy and investigation reports, it has been informed to us that his body is going to be cremated tomorrow (tuesday) here in Milwaukee and the ashes will be flown back home to India.....really unfortunate for his parents not to get to see their son for one last time.

being the only son, the news would have been devastating for his mom and dad.....may they get the strength to cope with the difficult times.

sharath and MUCC team

sharath_purdue_to_mucc said...

Firstly let me congratulate team MCC and St. Louis for their awesome 3-0 start. great work guys. keep it up!

Good start to you too Purdue...Go Boilers!!!

Phoenix, keep up the good work, two close games which you could have wrapped up....but your efforts should pay off soon.

and yeah guys, according to ICC stipulations a game is legal if both sides bat 25 overs or more while for the records ball 1 is when book keeping starts. So I guess Raheel's suggestion warranties immediate attention and action. I think it should be enforced immediately.....not a big deal to do that right....also as pointed out earlier, one full innnings and people don't get credit for that??

We MUCC hope to use the 2 week break to recover from the tremondous loss, get back to some mental toughness and get going in the season. Thank you Royals and MWCC for your immediate support and understanding wrt the game this past sunday.

have a good long weekend break guys....me am planning to meet up with some old school buddies in Chicago this friday before heading SE to Purdue for the weekend...

It's disappointing to see people in this forum bash ICC for loosing this weekend.

ICC is a very good team and I have no doubt that they will make it to the playoffs and most probably top 4 by the season end.

We played a great game against them and was impressed with there on field professionalism and team discipline. Good Luck to ICC for the rest of this season.

Fast_N_Furious said...

tonald so because you all win they showed professionalism and team discipline?
Hmm Give me your break down of this team if you can? bowling batting etc...

Anonymous said...

Fast and Curious ;-)

Professionalism: ICC did not give up or gave excuses for their loss. Played the entire game like true cricketer's.

Team Discipline: ICC did not start figer point at eachother for the loss. They took the loss as a team and showed that they are indeed better people. A team that gets bowled out for 77 is usually very cranky. We heard nothing but positive from them.

Bowling Analysis: A grade. We saw Jack, Rup and Aaron in action because we only played 17 overs. Jack is a very good all round athlete. He almost took Shashi's head off with his wicked fast one.

Batting: We really do not know because it did not click against us. But looking at the fact that a team that can score 300+ they have weapons.

Fair enough?

Anonymous said...

Tonald,

I call that BULL SHIT. Your Chicago Giants beat the shit out of ICC this weekend. Rupnarine may be good but that over all team is old and lacking speed.

Teams like Arsenal and Madison CC will beat the shit out of ICC in the upcoming matches, sources tell me that Arsenal is waiting for ICC to serve them payback for the loss last year.

ICC is done.

Rup said...

Puppu????...too long,
Why don't you give the season a chance to grow old with ICC. It's only 3 weeks and you are counting us out..
Not just Arsenal, I feel everyone now wants a piece of ICC after last week defeat at the hands of Giant.

Looks as though he played a killer knock this weekend (95 of 56).
Well done!

Fast_N_Furious said...

tonald thanks bro...
nah I dont think icc is done.. They have a bump in the road

Jaggi said...

Yeah Tango, u r right. Kamran played a couple of explosive innings last year. Mehul, rates him pretty high.

Rumor has it that we are only playing 12 games in Div 2 this season.
Can anyone confirm this.

Alpesh said...

Rup ..

Your bad luck :) NoStars is playing 15 games ... including twice against Q C Kings.

Lot of issues in scheduling this time ...

Jaggi said...

Venu(from Phoenix) compiled a list of all issues in the scheduling and has passed it on to the management. It includes certain teams playing only 12 games, some playing 15, some hosting even though they are travelling etc.

zimbo said...

Rather than disrespecting teams just coz they lose a game, i thought i should change the topic just a little bit.
I think every team in this league certainly has a number of talented players,I would say moreso batsmen than bowlers but how about wicket keepers and feilders.
Can anyone think of any out standing feiders or keepers?
I personally think as for keepers Imraan Taylor of AAA is by far the best.
As for feilders,I thought Afroze was really impressive against us on sunday, and i also think Abdul of AAA is not too bad.

Anonymous said...

Afroze, Shahid, Kiran and Chirag Patel are probably the best fielders in Division I.

sharath_purdue_to_mucc said...

Todd Pinnington and Mahesh Parikh are probaably the best wks I have seen yet in MWCC....no offence to any one, being a wk myself and having played in Div II and Div I for two years each now......I rate these guys to be the finest......complimenting their wk abilities is their solid batting skill as well.....I have also heard a lot about Anand Balasubramanian and his classy glove work.....he must be right up there I guess.

sharath

Anonymous said...

Yes Todd Pinnington and Mahesh Parikh are definitely the best keepers in the league, but Todd is miles ahead of anyone else!

zimbo said...

I have yet to to play aginst Todd or Mahesh but i still think Imraan is very good and to go with solid batting,
Also Imraan is the keeper for the MWCC team for the L.A OPEN.

sharath_purdue_to_mucc said...

Zimbo,

As I said in my earlier post, I meant no offence nor was I questioning Imran's or any one else's abilities.....I have played aganist AAA three times as part of the Purdue team and then I saw how Todd and Mahesh keep and bat after I moved to MUCC. I did not get a chance to watch Anand keep/bat, but people have put in a good word about his skill often.

Mine was just an honest opinion.....I have had the good fortune to play with and learn some finer aspects of keeping from Todd and he is really miles ahead of every one else....despite the fact that I have kept in all games last year and this season so far....once again, just an honest opinion......

Are you sure Jaggi...i thought according to Raheel last year, he is the worst umpire in MCC, since he is the one who umpired their only loss last yr. Raheel could differentiate a thud from an edge all the way outside the boundary and this dude could not call it correctly just 22 yards away. Jaggi, you must have made a mistake, this cannot be the same guy....apparently according to Raheel he is very incompetent and does not know anything about umpiring. hmmm....

I think the original question was "If the game is on the line, who would you go to?

past players:
Gary Sobers or Zaheer Abbas.

Current:
Andy Symonds

well daxx and darshan from challenger are good and quick filder. daxx can field anywhere on the ground regardless slip, point or covering boundry. darshan and daxx are safe and accurate catcher.
chirag from royals, daxx from challenger, darshan from challenger and shahid from pak are best filder. this guys can create catch and 99% they can catch it.

Unknown said...

this year challenger is not looking in good shape. i don't know if they can go all the way. they are doing too many experiment and messing with batting lineup so much. they do have good player who can bat and really hold the batting line up. having daxx, tushar, nilesh this guys can turn any match in their favour. pak, united, and wildcats have good chance this year. challenger is out of picture this year unless they come up with some plan. rumore has challenger is breaking apart.

hate to see good teams are wasting their talents.

Rup said...

Why do so many people think that a team ia washed up, done, and breaking up after a loss.
If you play this game which I know most of you do you have to know that on any given day you can loose a game.
If's left to see how well you come back after a loss and that what good teams do.

No, we are definitely not breaking up. :-)
We just lost a game, and thats about it. We'll try to work harder next game.

straight_drive said...

I just hope we have an open season this time instead of one team dominating like Pak did last time, which teams have potential to beat them?

Anonymous said...

Well, there haven't been significant changes in majority of contending teams in Division I.

Milwaukee United, Muslim Gymkhana and Wildcats are almost unchanged.

Challengers, United CC, St.Louis, Bears have picked up one or two decent players. I still don't expect them to work miracles.

Seems as though Purdue lost a couple of players, but like other University teams, they might have picked up a few good players too. Only time will tell how good they will do, maybe Sadiq can give us a hint ;)

My hunch is that unless someone gets on a roll, Pak Gymkhana will bag their second championship.

Unknown said...

Tango,
The wildcats have 2 new players, Vinod and Naren. Both are very good players, most people already know Vinod and naren is new.

Anonymous said...

opps, sorry Romeen!
My bad, didn't mean any disrespect to Vinod or Naren, it just didn't register for some reason. Afternoon time is always a downer for me.

neanderthal_walking said...

MUCC doesnt have fire power. they look one dimensional. purdue might have lost couple of player but most of thier key players have played last game. i think still PAK GYM is the team to beat.

Anonymous said...

Todd, Satya and Bhavneet have plenty of fire power.

Anonymous said...

They are like the Sri Lankan team, they only play spinners and medium-pacers :)

neanderthal_walking said...

they do but rest look pretty ordinary when up againts good bowling attacks like of PAK or CHALLENGERS, i doubt their chances

Anonymous said...

Challengers have been their 'bogey' team over the past few years. Maybe they'll break out of the shell this year.

neanderthal_walking said...

MUCC need some good bowlers. their current attack not going be effective on concrete wickets

Unknown said...

Tango, no offense taken, I just meant to inform you.
Does your team have any new players this year?

Anonymous said...

Romeen, yes a few new guys. No one worth mentioning. They are more like bench warmers, will carry all our stuff around...you know, the 'Limbu-Timbu' types ;) <---winkie

sharath_purdue_to_mucc said...

folks,

Give us some credit.....we are just not Todd, Satya and Bunty.....
although they may be the pillars.

We lost to Pak Gym by 1 wk...they chased 203 for victory and one by 1 wk with 1 ball to spare....after being around 180/9...we lost to challengers by 18 runs in the semi-finals.....we had a 10-3-1 record in the regular season with losses to Pak Gym, Challengers and Wildcats in the regular season last year...and satya just played in 9 of these 13 and Todd just one.

So we do have some fire power and we look like we are more of a team than being solely dependent on a select group of people.....AJ had a 97 against Bears, Sadiq ended up scoring 333 runs in the regular season.....Shyam had 20+ wkts overall to name a few....

Aanyway we are off to a rough 0-2 start and we need to come through quickly and consistently.

Lets just hope the weather holds up.

Sure am praying for a good old June-July summer day for us to get for once a regular normal game unaffected by the rain gods....eagerly looking forward to the game agst you guys.

So is the case with my alma-mater Purdue....you always get a kick when playing agst your former team of 6 seasons.

Also cos I expect real close games agst Wildcats and Purdue cos their game and style matches what we MUCC do precisely....so Romeeen fresh from your 71*......hope you guys do not bring your "regular" cricket when you play us.

who should go

shahid - pak
irfan shohil - pak
baksi - pak
daxx - challenger
nilesh - challenger
bhavesh - challenger
mehul - united
bhavneet - mucc
anand - royal
ajit - wildcats ( captain ) or coach
imran - muslim
kamran - muslim

didn't bhavneet get called for throwing last year?

neanderthal_wlking,

1. have you ever seen a leg-spinner chucking?....according to their style of bowling they can never chuck/throw...unless it is an deliberate attempt of some sort....that is a basic diff between finger spinners and wrist spinners....

2. Bunty (bhavneet) has the smoothest action for a spinner in this league.

3. I am assuming you are getting confused between two people.

I don't know how the league pick the players 4 L.A. open every year i see lot of bench warmer go to l.a. like last year nasir, giri & asmar these player are not even a leading wicket taker or a best bowler in their team but league take these player for a field trip. About sohail alvi, tehsin, masroor, adnan baig & ajit plz don't send them again & again. These players r good but u have to send some good & talented youngster who can field & stop some runs in a 20/20 game. If they like they can be a manager, coach or a selector for the team. Who is this anand guy from royals i never heard about him first he have to prove himself in MWCC then we might talk about him.

Da, LA team.
Guess, I see you only got Div 1 players on your squad. Why no div 2 players??.
Jack will make my MWCC team on any type of tour.
This is the reason we were fighting so much for to get a Div 1 VS div 2 all star game. Out of this we can pick a core team and fill in the blanks a players fail to qualify for the tour/event.
Every tour will require different skills and tallent but since we get involved only with Da LA open we get to pick one team.
I went 2 years ago. got my ass whoopied in the first game bowling.. learned a lot from it so i bowled better in the next two games. fielding was miserable so it made the bowlers looked worse that what they realy were.
Here is what I think is needed to win 20/20.
1)Pick batsmen who are able to go at the first ball.. there is no time to settle in.
2)Pick as many good alrounders as possible cause you will have a vary bowling attack if some one gets wacked.
3)All players must be good(+) fielders. there is no room for sluggish fielding as these grounds are not far from international standards. Not to mention the shorten the boundries to only 60 yards for this event??
4)Part of three, if some one has a catching problem, you need to look at other options before you select him.
5)Bowlers should be selected based on ability to move/vary the ball cause fast and straight is the next flight home.
If i were the selector you must fit two or more of these characteristics before you are even given a tryout??

Gogol said...

for all this you need preparations. apparently for some unknown reason, management always picks a team a week in advance, with no criteria whatsoever. First of all, why is management picking the team?

I am tired of hearing what USACA is or is not doing.
I tell you what, USACA and the ones who want to run USACA will not make much of a difference until Congress looks into this..Good luck. It's the US dollar that killing Cricket.. Look at all the leagues and bodies and the all stink in one category.. Finance. The money comes in, dissapears and yet little is being done to improve Cricket!!!!!
So USA cricket is not going anywhere in the world in the near future. Why not let us enjoy what we have that's good for now in cricket. Is this asking too much???.
I could keep on venting, but i won't so I need to see the "If I were" for the betterment of cricket in MWCC. I say Screw USACA for now.

Lemmings, is a frequently-used metaphor in reference to people who go along unquestioningly with popular opinion, with potentially dangerous or fatal consequences. Rup, you hit it right on the head; Dirty Politics have no place in Cricket. The previous 2 AGMs, we asked questions about MWCCs participation and were woven into a web that spider-man himself would have a hard time getting out of. The last AGM, the first 2 hours were taken up by talking about 30-30…apparently they want to have their own set of rules apart from the rest of the league and the administrative body was quite willing to accommodate 2hrs. for this matter. When I brought up the issue of regional’s, it was tabled at the end of the meeting and we were given some labyrinthine story about USACA and dirty politics, thus, stifling any major talent from our league being exposed to the rest of the leagues. The last couple of years UCC has been pretty much locked out of anything they offer to the league, perhaps someone from the administration can shed some light on this…Mehul tried to set up something involving some players from Trini&Tobago and heard nothing back in response. Who remembers the Mohd. Azzharuddin’s charity match and how the league reacted to anyone participating in it. Rightfully, the players, on the fear of suspension, tucked their tales between their legs and hid. Imagine your childhood hero, comes to town and you can’t play with him? We approached players for the CER the previous year, because once again, no action was taken from MWCC. Only a few brave souls took part in that,( along with the charity game) on the risk of getting suspended.
Other then Rup, I have not heard any player by name at least, challenging management. It’s wonderful to have differing opinions within one league, I think, people should not be castigated just because they challenge the rule of law, right or wrong! UCC(which is different from United Cricket Conference), has always been seen as some sort of anti-culture nuisance… What’s wrong with offering different opinions? I am sure a lot of people don’t agree with us, but we are and constantly have taken heat from everyone. Please put the differences aside for the betterment of the game of cricket! Peace out!

folks,

neither am i taking sides nor am i being critical/judgemental of any body. but the first thing that comes to my mind is we as caribbeans/south asians have an excellent oppurtunity of playing quite a well regarded, dencently talented, quite competitve yet amatuer cricket away from our home lands here in the US.

Not to show case it or not to further it owing to reasons that are not cricketing is really unfortunate. I have had the good fortune to play with and aginst bowlers like my ex cap girish kamthe now in the michigan league, ruchir and chintan from purdue...rup and Jack from ICC, dhiraj and mehul from UCC, shahid and raheel from pak, satya and bunty from MUCC, asif from MCC...all of whom i rate as excellent bowlers.

In the batting dept there was Devin Patel from the yesteryear GCC, Satha from Capitol, Ashwin and Grisih from Purdue, Ajit from Wildcats, Irfan Shohail from Pak, Satya, Bunty from MUCC, Aditya from phenix, Mahesh from challengers all of whom I regard as sound batsmen (I have never played against the present day St. Louis team... so cant talk about them much...I guess they must be right up there with the others).

To top it all we have had Todd amongst us till recently as a active cricketing perosanlity. The point being, to have so much of talent around, not being able to harness and utilize it to showacse on a more broader stage either at LA or at the regionals owing to resaons that are off field non-cricketing matters, just empahises how much we are screwing up the first thing we are here to do...play competitive cricket.

I have read thru some of the earlier posts as well as the blogs from before and last year, although this is my first season contributing to the same.....I guess something needs to be done pronto....not only are we not promoting cricket, we are also hampering growth and recognition as a regional cricket board....some of the ideas posted are excellent....lets get down to working on them actively without playing the blame game.

============================
1. Players pay their own airfare. UCC picked up entry fees, transportation, lodging and food.
2. As stated this is a private venture and MWCC has nothing to do with it. Therefore no cause for alarm.
3. We have a L.A. Open committee that is reposnisble for player selection, confirmation and the logistics of this tour. Contrary to the popular belief I don't dictate how we do things in UCC.

I was checking the MCC website for scores. I noticed that the Batsman scores are now in bold letters. Good to see atleast some change in the age old website.

This makes me remember that during one AGM held in April 2006 last year, Tariq was mentioning that they had developed a totally new website for MWCC. He was even willing to show us the demo of it in that meeting. But we never heard after that about the website.

Aditya said...

When it comes to frustration with the management team for so many issues. the blame really belongs with us mostly. Not all of us, because some are trying to make a change because they are unhappy. But enough of us that there hasn't been a change as yet!

We are the ones who vote for this management team. If you are so unhappy about it, then do something about it. One doesn't have to get negative and personal to participate in an election. I hear people complain and stuff, but then this management team has been in office for a number of years - 10??? So who is to blame - them for doing what everyone knows they will do, or us for continiuing to vote them to power if we are so unhappy with them. At election time, guess who gets the votes? It is our responsibility to get your team vote given to the proper candidate.

The management doesn't need to be the only ones that run and organize everything. They need help in organizing and researching some activities. If we are so concerned, why don't we take some initiatives and help out? Obviously management is required to coordinate activities, but if everything is left to just them, then don't expect too much. They don't have the manpower, and they aren't getting paid for it!!

Also, the MWCC is not a professional league and we don't have contracts. So, the management isn't some all powerful body that we need to be afraid of. It seems like everyone fears management retribution. Why? What hold do they have on us? We have management to coordinate and manage activities, and provide guidance when needed. But that's where it ends. They should not and cannot curb us, specially when all we want is the betterment and expansion of our league. So, if you don't like the "exclusivity rule", then make a motion to get rid of it, and get it passed. Do something about it.

I'm not trying to bash on the management. Maybe they are doing a good job. Maybe they are not. Either way, they aren't new to us that we can claim we didn't know how they'd run things. We know. They are a known and proven commodity. And they have limited resources (man-power).

Please do something when you have the chance. Whether that is to help the current management out, or to replace them.

Why are we all complaining about this and that when all we wanna do is play cricket.
This is as Aditya said not a professional league
We had elections less than a year ago and 30 teams voted for the current management so all the ones complainig should take their personnal agendas elsewhere, may be the glendale heights league
As for Rup i know a lot of people rspect u coz of ur crickting abilities and man u seem to losing a lot of it by baseless arguing with people who im sure just wanna spite u.
Rup u better than them dont stoop so low

Sharat,

DC is playing with us. He was unable to play the first 2 games, but played the game against Pak Gym. Unfortunately, that was rained out, so you didn't see him on the roster.

Abhi - Just to clarify, MWCC held trials for the LA CUP two years ago. I was selected on the basis of those trials and did reasonably well in at least one of the games. I'm not being defensive, just informative.

I am sick of players saying we need help but no on from management is going to publish on the MCC page, what we need help for.
Well,, I am an accountant by proffession who happens to play cricket. If MWCC needs help in accounting let me know and i will try to help. I do help out umpiring sometimes .
I guess when promisses are made and not fullfilled you will see anger and frustration. any married guy can tell you that?.

Asmar, I am happy for you that you got selected after your showing in the trials. For every success story, there are quite a few failed ones. A fellow cricketer was invited, played very well at the trials and after that never heard back. He didnt know if he was selected/rejected. I think the team was announced(if it was) very late and I do know that it didnt go well with him.

Well said Rup. You are clearly wiser that me as a married man!!

GUYS GUYS GUYS,

I sense a great deal of frustration in this blog against the current MCC Management / Regime. Leagues actions makes me think of them as good ole boys club, who thinks that they can get away with anything.

I think you guys every year complain complain and complain but that is as far as many of you go. Complaining has not worked for you all so far so I am not sure how you all will impact change.

DON'T FORGET? We all pay pretty decent money $$$$$ to play in this league. Since we do not play in MCC for FREE so I urge you all to think of yourself as paying customers of MCC. We all should be able to demand better service, facility etc.

HISTORY TELLS US? Change requires sacrifice.

DEMAND CHANGE BY?

** Demand a face to face meeting with the league where its about you and your pain point. Make them listen to you and hold them accountable. Work with league management to help improve this league. No more under the table deals, friendship based tournament team selection, or continuos spinnig of fact by the the King of Spin Mr Spiderman (Tariq.

**Committing to sit your teams out for a year if this Management does not change its DICTATORSHIP STYLE and starts listening to its customers. I bet any money if 20 teams sat out a season this will hit the league in the pocket books really hard.

IF ALL OF THE ABOVE DOES NOT WORK THEN - Overthrow the current Management / Regime by making sure you all VOTE as a team against them in the next election.

CAMPAIGN FOR OFFICE? Those that want to run for office should come together and create / share with everyone in the league on why and how can you run this league better. (Talk is cheap so these people want to see vision and a a concrete plan that makes budgetary sense)

Good Luck

Wanting change or constructive criticism is alright, but hitting below the belt is not required. I'll still support Adnan for President next year, I just hope that he runs a positive campaign.

Adnan.. what happens to your LA bound team if Tariq picks you, Mehul and Faisal for LA Open.

DeepDownWithin said...

I am curious to know how many of you have the authority(within your team) to vote? There is a gap between mgmt and team, but there is also a gap between team captain(mgmt) and team members.

now that is a knock out. lets see what adnan got to say

I don't understand why people get annoyed because Adnan decides to send a team to LA.

He's giving more players a chance to play against star cricketers from around the world.

And its not as if he's stealing away cricketers from the MWCC. Not to mention, he's paying the entry fees out of his own pocket. Instead of giving him credit, we're putting up idiotic, hypothetical scenarios to bash him.

Grow up people!

Dude Tango.. I posed a question to Adnan and not you. Second, this was not intended to put Adnan down. I applaud his efforts, but, I think its a legitimate question... so let the man answer.

To vettipasangals,

"Dude Tango.. I posed a question to Adnan and not you."

I wasn't answering your question!

"Second, this was not intended to put Adnan down. I applaud his efforts,"

Oh yes, and we all have telepathic powers, so we completely understand whats going on in your head. No need to mention such things, right? :) <--sarcastic smiley

"I think its a legitimate question... so let the man answer"

Correct, after all, there are no stupid question....just stupid people! (Famous quote by Mr. Garrison)

DeepDownWithin said...

Ok, so you think I have telepathic powers to realize whom you were answering? Why cant you mention whom you were answering.
Stupid or not, I was asking Adnan... so still dont quite understand why you have to butt in.

Gogol said...

hehehe...select adnan and faisal for LA team. That is impossible.

I think like Adnan said if you want to get selected for his team let management know that you are not available for the MWCC official team. On the other hand who would want to pay for the trip when you get a free ride for the LA open thru MWCC.

neanderthal_walking said...

here is another cracker......

what if MWCC pick mehul not adnan for LA open?

if i were in MGMT i would have done that

I wasn't answering any question God dammit. Read my post again.

"Stupid or not, I was asking Adnan... so still dont quite understand why you have to butt in."

Whose butting in? Please carry on with the stupidity!
