This time we *did* have a somewhat extensive week - the first such in this rain-affected season to date - with only 2 games eventually unable to be played. Several terrific closely fought games in Division One (indicating the balance of this division once again), a few dominant wins and early statements made by some teams in Division Two, and a few first-looks at new teams in the 30/30 (along with some great performances from the youngsters of the Midwest Cricket Academy). Along with some very good individual performances by players across the league.
We've tried to cover most of it (in our earnest if amateurish fashion) this week too, along with the usual couple of player-interviews, in the third weekly edition of our video-magazine the Midwest Wrap.

Just starting to comment here ... so that everybody else also comments here .... :)
What happened to all the earlier comments here. Unless I am being delusional, I think I read that AAA beat St. Louis. Congrats AAA. Good start and keep building up on this win.
Appu how does it feel to be a opener?
Congratulations to AAA for their win. Beating St.Louis in their own backyard is pretty cool. Way to go AAA....But why does IKRAM the batsman who scores 5 sixes in 40 runs come at #9.

United Cricket Club is participating in Indian American Heritage Museum (IAHM) T-20 tournament and is looking for players. The tournament will start on May 30th and go on until Aug 29th. Matches will be played every weekend and will be an open league. Yes! that means you can play more than one game. The purpose of this tournament is to raise the level of cricket in Midwest by providing as much Cricket as possible so it can be exposed to mainstream USA and maybe, just maybe raise enough interest to field a Cricket USA team if it becomes an Olympic sport :). This will also be a great way to compensate for lack of practice due to time and ground unavailability. Matches will start 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and one game will be played on Sunday starting at 10:00 a.m. Entrance fees per pserson is $40.00. Interested parties please email president@unitedcricket.org for more details.

Disappointing weekend from a cricketing point of view. There's nothing much any body can do about the situation, we've never seen WP like this before.
Saturday was just a beautiful day, picture perfect and ideal for cricket, but alas! Very frustrating, it was like you are a bowler and are bowling to a team of cross-batted swipers-missers and your umpire is FOD (FOD, you know I love you :)); or it's like you drive a couple of hours for practice and your captain says you can bat as long as you like and you realize you left your cup at home (not based on true events); or it's like you are at the Playboy mansion and have ED and the world has run out of Viagra.
It wasn't all bad though. FOD, the great work that he's been doing, got some important interviews in, especially the under 19 kids and their coaches. Listening to them, one realized how crucial it is to train these kids play this game we all love so much.
AAA Vs. St. Louis
AAA went into St. Louis and started the game around 1:30 PM because the ground was wet and needed some repair. AAA agreed to play because the umpire said the ground was fit to play. Therefore, Moe Moe, we listen to the umpire unlike you people. The umpire specifically said the ground AAA vs. Muslim Gym was unplayable and Muslim still decided to spend money but the umpire still said that the ground was unfit to play. Back to the St. Louis game, St. Louis batted first and scored 166 in 30 over’s with a magnificent 70 from Shuail Alvi. AAA’s bowling started shaky with St. Louis scoring 70 for no loss in 12 over’s. AAA controlled them to 166 in 30 over’s. AAA went to bat having to chase 167 to win in 30 over’s. Asif smashed a quick 32 throwing one ball into the trees. The ball was never found and that’s when AAA’s bad luck started. With in a few over’s and the magical bowling from Mir, AAA were 110/8 with some over’s remaining. Ikram Patel came into bat number eight and was ready to win the game. He scored a smashing 40 runs with 5 sixes. The game into the last over were Ikram led AAA to victory. Mirchi Pathan, thanks for the compliments but as far as I can remember, you don’t like and support AAA. So please don’t come at us. AAA has talent from 1 thru 11. So that’s why Ikram went 8. We also did not have four of starting players. Sadiq Patel, Ibrahim Ismail, Asif Patel 2, and Abdul Behlim were not present at the game. So props to our new guys.

I completely agree, we have to do whatever in our power to train these young guns.
I played 30/30 with trailblazers yesterday and bumped into a few young talents....these guys amazed me...
Coupla them Vaibhav Ganesh, Osama Sufi and Brian Rathod....these guys are good all rounders, can bat, ball and field..
Osama impressed me with the bat, showing some excellent temparament...
I was told that they didnt have the money to participate in MWCA coaching, which I think is not right...
these kids need to be trained even if they dont have the financial support....
We should step up and support these kids....
we can all take one kid under our wing and sponsor their coaching, which I'm assuming will not be tat big of a deal...
I thought it was unfortunate that some of these kids cannot get proper coaching, just coz they dont have the money...albeit some excellent talent....
I'm willing to sponsor one....
hey suhiab malek i am over the fact about our game, You team drove down all the way to St.Louis and complained about the ground and didnt want to play!!!! WTF wake up man you team has talent so play the players, The umpire forced your team to play cuz he realize's the fact grounds will not be perfect every game. In our game the umpire was not expericenced enough to realize that. Thats all i have to say to u and ur team please drop the issue and concentrate on playing games and not try to sneak two points. REMEMBER IT's NOT HOW U START ITS HOW YOU FINISH!!!!
hey all...great weekend for us. Lucky XI played against Chicago Fire and we won the toss ans decided to bat first even though the ground was still wet. The ground was also very sluggish and we (Lucky XI) were able to post 205 in 40 overs thanks to Ayaz 54 and Salim N. 51. Now bowling was a different story...we got a wicket off the first ball of the innings and their slide continued after that and were able to bundle them out for 90 runs in about 26 overs. Thanks to Fire for a great game and congrats to us for a HUGE first win.
No one touches Brian Rathod and Vaibhav Ganesh :) They belong to United Cricket Club.
Adnan
Congrats to all the winners..for the loosers..well..another game coming up..Like Ramon said...Bring your cup and you will get to bat as long as you Like....
WP...Bad shape????
ICC just can't catch a break to play a game...Every Sat night I get the call ground unplayable..
I have not gone to WP yet but I have a feel it's the ducks thats killing those fields. Unless they get rid of the ducks or we gaet a long drought WP will never recover..our rep for Grounds need to take it up with the park to see if anything can be done to keep the ducks away??
I was told that they didnt have the money to participate in MWCA coaching, which I think is not right...
these kids need to be trained even if they dont have the financial support....

Sheky..Welcome aboard..Thanks for sharing this info with us.....
Why hasn't MGT come forth and ask for help I don't know..If the above is true then I hope it clear to all our members how out of touch we are in reality of extending the life of Cricket in the Mid west..
I have Volunteered to help in the coaching and I am waiting on the Schedule..no wonder I ain't got the call yet...
Sheks..maybe you can look up the Expense to hold the coaching sessions and we can try to come up with the monies on our own..
You can count on ICC and my personl support..We wil pay the cost to host one Session at HP facilities.
you're funny Adnan... :-)
I'll keep away from Vaibhav and Brian.. :-)
hey, can we do anything to help these kids....I know Vaibhav has support..
dunno about Brian and Osama...
definitely Rup...I'll get the numbers and let you folks know the expense to coach each kid..
yeah, we'll have to work together to help our future..
Mirchi Pathan, thanks for the compliments but as far as I can remember, you don’t like and support AAA. So please don’t come at us.Shuaib Menk, Either you are a Ghajini or you dont understand english. I dont have any problem with AAA, infact happy for their win. I just did not like the fact you guys sneaked 2 points under playable conditions.
So relax and chill....
Any plans for the weekend?, try visiting this place.

United Cricket club is offering a youth camp Starting May 30th. That's the reason we are asking players to participate in the IAHM T-20, so the meoney that is generated is spent to hold Coaching clinic. I have a commitment from some of the biggest stars in our league to help us, but we need more people. $40 per person is not much folks and it is for a good cause. This T-20 will be based on IPL format, which means you get to play with the biggest names in MWCC.

hey rup the duck are there due to water, they have made the ground a pond. There wont be any water if it is pumped out and the ground is leveled. We would be aple to play if these two things are done!!!!! Leave the poor ducks alone:)Don't mess with the nature lol
Yeah, I saw Washington Park on Saturday and it was SHOCK! Grounds 2-3 and 4 were all unplaybale and there was soo much water, it seemed like you are in heritage Park. There was no where on these grounds that you could walk and don't splash water. Also in each one of them there were large patched of sitting water at least 15 yards long and about 1 feet deep. It was a sad sight. The only playable or unaffected ground is No 1, which we (MWC) will nont have going forward. Washington park needs some real help if we want games to be played there. I reccomend a "Fix the Park Day' at Washington Park. Volunteers come with buckets and we can get the water out. Also, we all should be able to pitch some money in to provide some sand to level the ground. Moe can arrange for a dump truck. Moe, how much does that cost? What do you say Bloggers?
Also, I am in for any support for the young and the development of cricket. Please let me know what I need to do to help out.
Adnan, count me in on the T-20, provided the following questions. Where would the games be played? Also, is there going to be any League Exclusivity issue, have you cleared that with management?
I think that Washington Park should be the priority or the Young Cricketers and older ones alike, will not have any place to play. Let's figure out what we ca do for our beloved cricketing venue in Chicago. Let's all get togehter on Saturday at noon. If we get 30 volunteers, that should be good. "Ask not what your league can do for you, ask what you can do for your league."
Moe Moe..Said
done!!!!! Leave the poor ducks alone:)Don't mess with the nature lol
===============================
Moe that tell us you know poop about Ducks....
Leave the ducks there and ya will soon get a Lake..and there goes our cricket field...
If we get a lake we cal call it Lake Moe seeing you are a nature lover and all??
Nice Suggestion Shiraz..one problem we may have is..Will the park district allow us to do the fill up...
I say we have our Grounds Mgt talk to WP and see what can be done. If they will fix great..If not get us permission and we will fill the holes up ourselves...
I will volunteer and show up with 6/40 pounds bag of top soil this Saturday..if approved?
Also, I am in for any support for the young and the development of cricket. Please let me know what I need to do to help out.
Adnan, count me in on the T-20, provided the following questions. Where would the games be played? Also, is there going to be any League Exclusivity issue, have you cleared that with management?
===============================
I have sent a letter to the management requesting permission to conduct these games. Have not heard anything back yet, which is typical. This does not mean that it won't happen. I hav enough support from the senior players to move forward with this initiative. Besides there are numerous other leagues (Acc excluded) where players from MWCC are participating. If they can play there, they can play here. I will release the names of the players who have made a commitment to this intitiative, once I have confirmation from everyone. We are not competing against MWCC. As I stated earlier this initiative is in place to promote Cricket and attract younger generation to get into the game. That's the reason United Cricket Club will be offering free coaching clinics. There is no age restriction to attend this camp. Through the help of IAHM we are able to lease Washington Park ground #1. That's where the youth camp and the T-20 will be held. Email presdient@unitedcricket.org for complete details on schedule and the format.

well said Shiraz Kennedy.....extremely well said.. :-)
I wish everybody had the same perspective as you did..
I'm out of town this weekend....but am available the following weekend or any other...to fix our grounds...
lemme know..
Adnan,
Great Effort and Idea to help the Kids out.
Count me in..As Shiraz mentioned..please clear up with MCC on the exclusive rule or we may fall short on members support if MWCC don't agree with us on this.
Adnan,
I'm in for that tourney - league exclusivity or not....enough with that crap....
We at United beleive that the only way to get this game out in mainstream is to make the game accesible. If no one has ever tried the game, they would be reluctant to pay for it. That's why we want to offer it for free. Grab anyone off the streets and introduce the game. We are also reaching out to School district in Niles to get a camp going out there. Spread the word about youth camp. It's free. May 30th 09:00-12:00. You get to play high level cricket among the best and at the same time make an investment in the future of this game.
Shekhs: Wanna talk to you. Email me at presdient@unitedcricket.org and let me know when would be the right time to talk. Thanks again for your support.

hey rup i dont know poop about ducks except they are pretty cute when they squak and walk lol. However the wp ducks u are concerned about belong to the pond on the south side of the midway drive which is THE real pond behind wp grounds. I work in the area and drive by the park almost everyday, The duck come there to chill and eat worms and then walk/ fly back to the big pond which actually is there residence. Anyway who cares about the ducks we want to be able to play in wp ground 3:(
WE have to drian the water by pumps not buckets sheraz lol and then lay dirt down, not 6 bags of top soil. We need 2-3 dump truck which cost about 500 each to level all grounds.
presdient@unitedcricket.org
=========================
I meant president@unitedcricket.org. Fat fingers, LOL.
Well Moe.. the come to WP and feed on the grass, Worms, and mud and we are getting a bigger pond by day.. We need to get WP involved and see if the will fix it or MWCC has to come up with some doe???
I hope MCC is doing something to fix the WP grounds ... Else it will cause large number of rained-out matches, which will cause them rescheduling issues later at the end ... Its better they fix the problem now ...
Sadiq Sir ..
Please give us a summary of Evanston-Madison game ... two centuries in an innings ... that should have been a treat to watch .. also what was the partnership record??
phoenix 0-2, adi what is up? where is the scorecard...

I would like to bring my son to the camp. I would greatly appreciate it if you can please send me the details @ samirchampaneri@yahoo.com. Thank you,

Midwest Crap: Online edition, Vol 3
-----------------------------------
WARNING:
This edition pertains to our MCC rules - very few of it though. Reading our rules offer prolonged exposure to abnormality. It can cause rythmic eruption of stupidity and will test your healthy capacity for bias and nepotism.
Assumption is you agree to the consequences prior to proceding further.
Let's review some of our MCC Ground rules and its your call to try to segregate shit from crap. This ofcourse comes with due apologies to Baldwin Uncle. If things get mixed up, no worries, its still in the dustbin. But you may neatly package shit in a diaper with excellent moisture management features. Who can help here...any nicks?
Baldwin Uncle tries his best. His hands are tied. Same goes for Zamorin, although he expressess his frustration in this blog once in a while. Sami was surprised and hence wanted Zamorin to connect up. Possible pre-poll alliances are being drawn up now.
Let's get to the meat of the things. First at the top is "Rules and Regulations". If there's any joke on earth, it is this, it is this, it is this.
The membership fee deadlines are a cariacuture by itself. Check this rule 3.1.4 out..."Delays would result in penalties as decided by the management", the operative words being "as decided by the management". This is when "selective" policies are applied. Nothing more to add.
Entire Rule 6.2 must be a typo. The last time the website was updated was during Tippu Sultan's period. Contact details are like Continental's customer service number, the most secret number once upon a time.
The scheduling committee head is completely incommunicado. Romeo is close to him and he can help us out here. Can you all bombard Romeo with a favor.
Rule 15.2.2 may be irrelevant next year as majority of the teams want to move to 30/30.
Rule 31. Conference Exclusivity Rule: Ha..ha..ha..
Very selectively implemented, almost always target a particular team and its members. This despite the fact that almost all youngsters in this league do play in the ACC. Don't you think Maverick Mud is cognizant of this?
Send emails to Baldwin Uncle on this. This rule has to go next year.
Last I heard, Zamorin is building up a definitive agenda for change. You have my support, Zamorin.
Can't agree more Shekhs..Let "FAKE" be "FAKE".. He is too frik'n ..in a freaky kinda way..Hillarious??..
Go .. "FAKE"...Go.,,,,.Go .. "FAKE".. Go ...Wha do u no "FAKE" on a roll today.
C'mon Shkhs...Please.. can you at least ask ..Maverick Mud ..if you can use the "Lower Pricing Model"..I will like to know the answer you get .given our excellent financial situation in MWCC...
