Ajoy - Please send an email to Tariq. Once the captains are selected Shekhs/myself will let them know.
# of teams/format is being decided.
There will be food for everybody, including the spectators...unfortunately WP grounds are not available, so the spectators, will have to trek back and forth between hanover and heritage atleast for one day. It will be a festive atmosphere in any case.
The ground looks great right now given the short time for preparations. As time goes on and the city completes all the little things this ground will be one of the premier grounds in our League. It's pretty level all over. Very big all the way around and it's a designated Cricket Field. I love the wicket. Pretty good job done to make it very level, no up or down slope and a very good turf..I feel this will become a batsman paradise once the turf settle in and the ground conditions becomes faster. Kudos to the QC kings for working with the City and getting a ground like this. We need some more grounds like this around Chicago land. From talking to the team they have spent quite a few dollars out of their pocket to get this done..in fact $8,500.00. I know MCC budgets funds for Grounds, New/Renovations. they need to help out QC kings on this expense. The kings plan to use the re-imbursements to help with the building of a stand and shed..I hope we can make this possible.
Signs of relegation... Looks like AAA is on the move to make it back to Div 1 again.. Several Div 2 teams will be fighting to stay out of 30/30 or we can see some more teams breaking up. How do you all see Div 1.. Some good teams don't look good right now.. do you see them relegating or break up??.
On the side note..Any one from Giants want to give us an update on your team.. Give us the inside on why the poor performances lately. You guys are supposed to be one of the premier Div 2 teams. We will like to hear your side

Hey Sheks - any chance we have have one "Game of the Week" type thing organized on a Saturday or Sunday night at all? It just feels like it would be most likely to draw a crowd - if a Challengers/Pak type night-game is played on a Sunday night (say) instead of a Tuesday night, it would make it so much easier for more people to show up and watch. And Hanover is definitely available every Sunday night at least (and most Saturday nights too actually). Dont force anyone to play those games.. but if teams are told early many may be willing to accept it, and it would be pretty cool overall I think.

So is it definitely a Mini-World-Cup and not an all-star game, BTW? (I kinda liked the idea of a Div1 vs Div2 allstar game maybe more, but oh well :-)
India, Pakistan and WI are a given for teams.. but we wouldnt be able to form a SL team. Probably a Rest of the World team.. but even that we'd struggle for 11 maybe (I can think of 3-4 good SL players in our league only, not much else; maybe the Aussie Fenders etc too). Maybe a USA team is an option too - qualified US residents or whatever. (And do we want only 1 India and Pakistan team, or 2 each?)
-------- Big Hitter said... hmm. interesting develupments. here my predications 4 playoffs. div 2 jr, aaa, eagles, arena, evanston, madison, icc, iit, jaguars, giants. --------
Do we know for sure that 10 teams are going to the playoffs in Div2 this year? Its always been 12, but that was with 28 or so teams.. this year its 19 teams in the division, but at the start of the season it was still listed as 12 teams going to the playoffs, which makes little sense. But do we know if its goign to be down to 10, or to 8?
Thanks Aditya ... Just started learning from the parent team :)
Sadiq Sir .. Not ur fault .. I was done in by run-stop-run bowling style of Vishal Kundra .. He has a run-up of abt 5-6 steps and it was his first ball of his first spell ... I was wondering if any of the international bowlers has this kind of run-up .. run-stop-run ... I know Saqlain Mustaq used to hold back before releasing the ball ...

United Cricket Club and Exensys invites you for a free exciting boot camp. India / First class and county cricketer (Mohammed Saif, Kiran Kumar, Amit Joshi and Irfan Aziz) will be coaching. Details are below:

No worries if you cannot attend there will be many more as United will continue to bring exciting crikcet to this region. Please pass the word around and have them contact Nadeem Zain for registration. We would like to maximize this opportunity to continue to improve ourselves.
Very good initiative Adnan. Needless to say, a step in the right direction. Great way to encourage cricket in the area. Wish we could make it too but got a Sunday game will make it next time around. This is what MWCC needs few baby steps in the right direction
Confusius says 'when there is no light at the end of the tunnel just keep taking forward steps in the dark'
None of this would have been possible without Exensys (Irfan Aziz), Mohammed Saif, Kiran Kumar, Nipun Joshi who brought Amit Joshi into the picture and a special shout out to Nadeem AKA Billy Zain for having the vision to make this happen.
Confiseus says 'One who thinks is expert at shitting may not be shitting at all'
u r right. mayb i not shitting at all. or ever. ok i give in. i never expert at shitting. i never shit at all. i just wise man with wisdom. my bad.....

Alpessh, there are a couple of teams looking for players to fill their rooster for night tourney..
Let do a bid like the did in the IPL??.. Available players make a pool and let the bid start.. Team with the best refreshment policy gets me unless they have a "Show Cause" rule??
I read that the 20-20 is going to played as per latest ICC rules ... So are we going to have 6 over fielding restrictions (not sure if we were following that rule) - free hits on front-foot noballs ...??
AAA vs Eagles - AAA batted first and scored 91 in 20 0vers for loss of 4 wickets. Eagles had this one left arm fast bowler who was pretty darn good. After break Adam and Shabbir took charge and AAA basically scored at 8 runs per over for next 20. Adam scored 80ish, Abdul very quick 40 and Bilal with some 20 runs in very quick fashion. Shabbir again delivered with unbeaten 65. AAA ended up with 250 for 9 wickets.
Eagles started off shaky and wickets fell regularly. If I remember correclty they were 54 for 5 in 20 overs. We felt that they will charge after 20 overs but they batted cautiously and I think they were all out in 39 or 40th over for 130.
Eagles is a good balanced team but definitely missing Subbu as he is in India. Good Luck to Eagles for the remainder of this season.
Now on to Rup's request on Chicago Giants and what the hell is going on.
Chicago Giants is basically in a rebuilding year and as far as I know (Which is a lot) things do not look to get any better for the rest of this season.
In off season Giants lost several key players from 2007 team such as Yaseen, Atif, Shashi, Omer, Chiragh and Waqqas. That is basically 40-45% of team gone.
Giants did try to rebuild with Hafeez, Rauf, Osman, Imran and Asif. Hafeez was a cancer to this team and last I heard is that he has been kicked out (THANK GOD). Rauf is now out as he is busy with work. Basically the current team is a shell of what it used to be.

Sadiq,
Yes, it is a mini-world cup. You seemed to be talking with some inside information!
Personally, I'd prefer 3 all star teams - Div 1, Div 2 and 30/30, playing for a trophy.
Let's see.
Any IITians here, Laxmi? ....please provide us the inside stuff on the game against Hammond.
Thanks Aditya ... Just started learning from the parent team :)
