Week 1 for the Midwest Cricket Conference is about to start. Time for wood and leather to make contact, time for the words to heat up, and time for the rivalries to be renewed! Last year we had a first-time Champion for both Divisions. What will this year bring for the new teams in Division 1 and the new teams in Division 2? Will the old powerhouses still remain dominant, or will some new upstarts have their way?
About time to find out....

per my conversation with Krishna he does not think any of the current kids will be ok till next year to play in our league.
I offered to take one on to play with ICC but was told till next year..
Kudos to the Academy and all the guys helping out.
Are we going to start the Fantacy league again??.
Our MCC Academy is doing terrific job. Many thanks to Krishna, Sridhar, Ajit and whoever is involved in this project. It requires great commitment.
Doesn't MWCA have a team this year in 30/30 league? There are many talaneted kids we have in MWCA.

Hey rup in madison the 10 day weather forecasts say that there is 20 person chance of rain and i am hoping and praying to god that itholds off because i dont wanna take the time and spend the money to go allthe way there and then not play the game. i would be majorly pissed off if it happens.
Also any idea whether the "administration" is going to enforce the whole thing with the teams that did not attend the "mandatory" umpiring session with the extra three games that we had suggested that they have to do for free as a penalty? i think that that is all a bunch of bull crap. anyone agree with me?

Its a feel good thing...ppl ffel good about Arena...so I guess you can be presumptively confident...
Having said that..Jags have always been one of the consistent powerhouses in div 2...so I wouldn't take them for granted..

ajoy i pick arena ovr jags bcoz of 2 reasons. 1 is travel. 2 is that i think arena is at least decent team if not very strong since some of ur players played for SL and they did well last year. u may yet prove me wrong but for now i give u benefit of doubt.

I was thinking that Jaguars must have volunteered to play back to back matches in St. louis and Collinsville. But it seems to be management scheduling policy .. This is really tough .. We are supposed to travel and play 2 matches on 1st weekend of June ...
More crap is that Collinsville does not start playing until 12 noon .. since the ground is available only then or so ... so even if you are early there .. you have to wait ..

Alpesh,, Good point.. Take it up with MGt to see that the game in colinsville start at 11 am if you will be there. I think that is the rule with 1 hour grace to 12 noon but Colinsville uses 12 noon if they get away with it.
I remember them trying to take the toss away from us cause we did not show at 11 am??.
On the balls.. Mgt has approved both for use so it's your choice on any given match..

Yes Shekhs send him here too, it has been raining for last 3 days in STL. I am not sure if we will be able to play this saturday. The ground may not dry. So we need some bright sunshine today for the ground to dry.

WC won the toss and elected to bat first... it was a pretty cold morning and we scored 177 from 42 overs, other than a 55 from Ajit and a 58 from Satish rest of the batting did not click.
Chargers started well scoring about 30 in 5 overs, but they started loosing quick wickets and the chief architect in this was Sanjay who took 4 wickets in no time,your truly took 2, Satish took 1, romeen taking a couple of catches and 2 run outs to his credit.
Kamran played a good knock being injured and nearly took his team home, they finally lost by around 30 runs...

What a day, bummer, huh? Too bad, there were some very good games scheduled today.

Eagles beat Jolly Rovers by 25-30 runs. Subbu (for Eagles)scored a half century and picked up 5 wickets (3 in one over).
We were sent to bat first and started rather disastrously - 27/3, before Subbu/Preetam and Ravi/Ram partnerships took it to ~ 160. After being 121/5 at the break, and 160/5 at the end of 26 overs, we folded for 198 thus offering Jolly Rovers a chance to glory at 5 an over.
Jolly Rovers began on a sedate note, 15/0 in 5 overs. Amit and Subbu opened for us. Subbu did not want to bowl his 3rd over, but the team leadership prevailed. His 3rd over proved to be decisive in the end. He took 3 wickets in the over - 2 bowled and 1 LBW.
Having been reduced to 15/3, Jolly Rovers embarked on a recovery through few fruitful partnerships. But in the end, lack of wickets prevented them from launching an all-out drive for victory. The last wicket partnership was worth 35-40 runs. But in the end they were all out for around 170 odd in the 40th over.

Hey guys sorry for keeping you guys in suspense for such a long time. ive been very busy with finals from school.
Well rain gods did let up early in the morning in madison so we decided to make the trip and see if we could get a game in. When we reached it was decided that Madison would dry off the pitch as musch as possible by 12 and thats when the game would start. Madison won the toss and decided to bat. The game was reduced to 30 overs a side. They lost their first couple of wickets for 20 odd runs but then the third wicket pair put on 45 odd runs in like 8 overs. Then yours truly came on to bowl and got a wicket of the first ball of the over. Madison went into break at 75/3. After the break they lost wickets at an astonishing rate and were bowled out for 125.
Alpesh to correct you it wasnt me but my close friend Asif Y. Patel that pretty much sealed the deal for us as he blew up and just man= handled the bowlers. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come in a season that is just beginning. Not to brag or anything but i believe i was the only one on the blog that picked us to win this game and i wanted to prove it. COGRATS TO CHICAGO FIRE ON THEIR FIRST FRANCHISE VICTORY!!!

My 2 cents on your team comment:
AAA: Talent has been upgraded and several members who were instrumental in winning Div 2 few years ago are back.
Arena: Is a mixture of X STL Kutis guys and some new addition. I think a lot of them played for SBC Ameritech down there.
Giants have added 4-5 new players most of them are not new to MWCC like (Hafeez, Rauf, Imran Lakhwera). Giants have always been a formidable opponent and rarely can any team in MWCC say that they beat the crap out of Giants. I would say talent level is pretty consistent with last year. Team will just have to work on building the winning chemistry. That may take a few games.
Eagles: Don't know enough
ICC: Rup always finds good talent to blend in and I feel they will be very competitive. Jack are you ready?
Titan: New name but familiar faces. As this team is basically the old old No Stars. With Durrani back and few additions. They will be good this year.
