Also there was going to be an update on Div 2 scheduling for this season .. so far not .. if this is how it is going to be, then I am just going to umpire the 3 min games for the team and nothing more ..
Hi all,
Quite tired, tanned, and thrilled!
Quick summary:
Our first match was against NCL, which happened to be Adnan and a few other familiar folks. They batted first and got off to an excellent start with Faisal providing the fireworks and Abhijit holding his end up. One particular shot of Faisal was a top edge over the keeper's head for six! But Shahid struck soon with a couple of wickets, and after that Bakshi and Asif did what they do best. From 55/1 it became 132 all out. The chase started poorly with Bakshi getting out early, but Kabir was in no mood to hang around. We ended up losing only 2 wickets. Amazingly, of the 133 runs scored, Kabir scored 110 odd!!!!
Our second match was against the ACC, who had also won their game. We lost the toss, but were put in to bat. We started briskly, but lost Kabir first and the Bakshi a little later. Amit and Afroze kept the momentum going with Afroze scoring 40 odd and Amit making a good 85. Shazad came in and picked the pace up for a breezy 45 odd and MWCC had all the momentum. However, we lost the last few wickets to some horrible umpiring decisions and a couple of bad shots and were all out in 47 overs for 291. With an imposing total behind us, we attacked the opposition. They started well enough, but soon we got the breakthrough, and then Perrin picked up a key wicket of his first ball. After that, wickets came in bunches and Asif and Bakshi did what they do best. We skittled them out for 150 odd.
So, we went into the finals with momentum clearly on our side as well as an unshakeable confidence after 2 dominating games. Batting first, we lost Kabir early. Yousef then put up a good partnership with Bakshi before they both fell relativiely quickly. In came Amit and Afroze, and again put up a good 50+ partnership before Amit got castled to a beauty. Afroze just kept playing and despite a couple of bad decisions by the umpire (same one as the day before) kept MWCC on top. Again we were all out with 2-3 overs to go, but with a good target of 260+. Our opponents, also on the back of consecutive wins, felt that they could chase down this target. Unfortunately for them, we had other ideas, and how! Afroze started with with a great throw and direct hit. After that, Raheel got a few, and soon they were 30/4 in 10 overs, or something similar. Time for someone to step up and finish the opposition, and Yousef obliged. 5 overs later he decimated and finished off the opposition with figures of 6 runs and 5 wickets. Adding the 20+ at 1 down, he deservedly got the MoM award.
MWCC was clearly the class of the tournament. Honestly, none of the other teams came close whether it was bowling, batting, or even fielding.
With a little better planning and some thought ahead of time, we could put up 3 teams and I would wager that 2 of them would meet in the finals.
It was a fun weekend and the team did well. First Tournament win for MWCC. We should build on this for the future.
Da CER..
Great experience and i wish we can send more players/teams to this. As Adi mentioned above it looks like MWCC is way above the others.
Let me first say congrats to MWCC on winning the tour..
I went with the NCL league. We had 5 youths on the team.
our first Match was against MWCC. We got off to a great start by Faisal, 44 and Abijit, 24. We went from 91 for 1 to 132 all out.
I guess the kids were a little nervous on the bowling when Khabir looked like Richards. 21 over later and we were back in the pavalion with a loss.
The second matche was against directors 11. We set a game plan to win big and hope for the best.
That we did. The kids were outstanding with the support of your truly we bundled them out for 96. We had them at 43 for 7 at one point. Talha picked up 4 in his opening spell.
After we heard IMCL was busting up GLCC we figured no finals so we sent the kids in to bring it home. it was fun watching the kids trying to get 97 as quickly as possible. the got it in 20overs with John Titus 20+ and Talha 20+.
Felt sorry for Jason as i think he got jacked on both days by the umps. Abijit..he'll be a good one a'ight.
It was nice to sit back and watch some of the future of midwest cricket in action.
Had a great time.
Thanks to Adnan and CJ for carring this team to the CER.
Congrats to all MWCC players on this great performance. Further confirms what we know already that "we have great talent".
How is everyone doing?
Najam Brothers - what is this nonsense about not blogging. Blogging is like taking a piss. Do it regularly and as often as you can.

congrats 2 mwcc team. expectated them 2 win and they delivered.
but in all celebrates do not forget selection organisation and play. team not picked till last day. team selection is joke. aditya a keeper? does even keep for team? perrin bat? i thought he mainly bowler who bat.
why not send 2 teams? as usual mgmt scrapes by and uses player talent 2 cover up own mistakes.
Congratulations guys!! Well done.

Rup, we dont have a game this weekend.
I'll try to stop by your game...
I dont think there will be any suspensions....
we will have to get the union thing going if something happens.
I agree with Shiraz, we need a players union...something that helps us from being screwed all the time.
why is this blog acting like it's going through pregnancy...
every so often it hides comments and then won't let you post..
Shekhs.. hope to see you Sat. beauuutifulll weather forcasted..

I dont think any leagues are "officially" allowed to put up more than 1 team - it is a USACA-umbrella Central East Tournament, after all. Every league in the Central-East region (Minn, Mich, Ill, Indiana etc) are allowed to send one team in. (Well, except that supposedly the strongest Michigan team wasnt allowed to take part for technical reasons apparently, and Minnesota didnt show up this time).
Of course, in practice, this isnt the case - because in practice, due to politics, all sorts of leagues have been created. For example the team that reached the final - ICML. They are a 20-20 league based in Glendale Heights, and they play only for one-and-a-half months in the summer. Pretty much everyone who plays in it also plays in the ACC (and the President of the ICML is actually the Vice President of the ACC). Thus, ACC is allowed to put up a team, and ICML is also allowed to put up a team.. and so, in practice, ACC can basically end up putting up 2 teams :-) (It also means that, since in the USACA elections for Central-East-Director etc all leagues have 1 vote each no matter their size, ACC has effectively 2 votes to our league's 1 vote).
This was much discussed over this weekend. If MCC wants to play this game, of course, we could do it too. We could have our Night Tournament be a separate league (it lasts 3 months, twice as long as the ICML, and is the same format ie 20/20, after all). We could also have our 30/30 be a separate league. So we *could* if we wanted have 3 separate leagues, and 3 separate teams sent to the CER. Thats if we too want to play these political games, of course - we as a league have to decide that.
(If we do this, BTW.. 1 team combining Div1 and Div2 - pick our best 14. Then pretty much all stars play the night tournament anyway - that can be the 2nd team. And the 30/30 league has several good players playing too - that can be a pretty damn good 3rd team. From what I saw this weekend, I would say our "league team" and our "20/20 team" would certainly meet in the finals).
Anyway, thats all the political stuff. Congrats to our guys - it was a quite dominating performance all weekend long, and huge fun, with spirits very high. The fielding in the final was incredible - lots of good catches, and a couple absolutely magical moments (both ICML openers were dismissed by fantastic plays - Afroze had a direct-hit runout to dismiss the ICLM opener who was the highest rungetter of the tournament, huge wicket. And the 2nd opener was dismissed by one of the great catches ever taken, this one by Amit - backpedalling furiously, somehow managing to get close to a ball that always seemed to be too far to reach, jumping up while on the dead run, and snagging it one handed in his left hand before landing on his back (while still holding the ball high in his left hand, so it was clear to everyone watching that it was not dropped). Amazingly fantastic catch.
The batting and bowling were also obviously superior to everyone else. Kabir got a century the first match. Amit didnt get to bat in the first match, but got a highly aggressive 85 in the second (and in the final, from 60/3, he got 36 to share in the critical 83-run partnership with Afroze that effectively decided the game). Afu himself got 40+ in the 2nd match, and a brilliant 72 in the final.
The spinners were great - Bakshi got a 5-fer in the first match and 2-fer in the second, Asif had 2-fer in the first match and 4-fer in the 2nd. In the final both spinners sadly failed to take any wickets (probably because neither actually got to bowl a ball ;-) They were, by far, the best 2 spinners in the tournament.
The pacemen did a terrific job. Raheel bowled 10 overs on the trot in game 2, and 8 overs on the trot in the final - and was controlled and pacy and took wickets each time. Shahid was great in the first game, and then pulled a groin muscle - couldnt bowl in game 2, wasnt supposed to bowl in game 3 (but, angry at being wrongly being given caught behind first ball, bowled and took a wicket immediately anyway :-) Perrin hardly bowled, but took a wicket in his only over in Game 2. Yousuf also could hardly get a bowl - 1 over in the first 2 games IIRC. In the final he finally got the ball.. and proceeded to take 5/6 and get MVP of the finals!
Anyway. Wonderful effort all around, a genuine team effort, and a great tournament win. Will write a tournament summary later sometime (well, actually, in my excitement I think I pretty much wrote it all above already ;-)
Very well organized tournament, good facilities, and a chance to prove to everyone just how good MCC cricket is. (Now hopefully a few of our top performers will be chosen for the zonal level team, to represent CER at the zonals later in the year, against teams from Dallas, Los Angeles, SanFran etc).

Sorry, youre right of course, Khurram Syed is actually General Secretary of the ACC, not Veep. Umpired a couple of his team's games this weekend, for some reason mis-remembered him telling me he was veep instead of secy I guess :-)
c8w
dear c8w, I dont know how u r going to put up 2 or 3 teams in next years CER when u had hard time finding 14 guys for 1 team this year. fools paradise.... it requires commitment and dedication... unfortunately u dont find that in this league. All we can do is critisizing each other and the league .... Specially over the long weekends ... no way... there r very few adnan's, roops and faisal in this league.
Rup ...
Lets talk abt the test matches played last week ... WI and NZ both had an upper hand .. but then played badly in their 2nd innings to lose the match ... Monty is improving day by day ... Also there was an interesting article abt WI board not giving enuf chances to spinners to prove themselves ... Spinners need a long run to prove their mettle ..
first u need to find atleast 45 guys like adnan, faisal, roop, shahid, bukhsi, raheel, asif etc etc who r willing to sacrifice their time for cricket...

Wizard..I must disagree...
I think proper preparations and planning can see MWCC put two very good teams out there...
this last minute calls is a huge problem and people have made plans especially on holiday weekends.
MWCC needs to create an academy Team of players with potentals, but can't make the first team.
We need to find a way..not a ghost but a legit way to field a second team and i think the Academy is the right place.
Alpesh,
i guess that is why NZ & WI are at the bottom of he pool in test cricket.
Talent is there it's just poor judgement and ability to close out the opponent is the problem.
NZ batted poorly in the 2nd innings thus letting England chase a smaller than expected target.
WI on the other hand had the upper hand going into the last day. instead of playing out the first hour with caution and let Australia bother the went in aggressive and lost some quick wickets and never recovered. poor decision making here
Why no comments today ?? Are ppl too much busy ..
Tango bhai .. I opened up the new thread for you .. and you are hardly writing here ..
Also Sadiq sir ... you too write something like previews for every weekend game ...
Alpesh & Rup
I think WI lost that game base on two factors poor batting 2nd innings and poor captaincy.
I think the captains of the WI cannot set field for spinners so they cast them aside.
AUS 14 for 4 coming to the end of day 3, Ligth fading you have an ATTACKING spinner on your team. Aus beign very cautious the best thing to do whas to bring on your spinner. Batsmen in defensive mode hate to be tempted.. Then again after 1 hr of bowling to symonds and hodge the captain needed to rotate his bowlers and even give your spiner a shot then because at that time AUS was still caution. he but waited until they were set to give the spinner a go.
So WI will continue to be in the bottom of the oack until they begin to respect the value of a spinner.
Impostor Impostor!
So I log back in today after months, and realize that there is already a Tango blogging.
How dare you fakie, how dare you steal my fake-profile? LOL (thats laugh-out-loud for all you old timers)
By the way Apu, I appreciate the warm welcome. Unfortunately its someone else basking in my glory.
Back to business, and before anything else, I just want to thank Jaggi and rest of his posse on standing up to management by running for office. Despite falling short by a few votes, you guys definitely deserve a lot of credit. If it weren't for you guys, Tariq would have never sent a team to participate in the regionals. Management will now be on their toes.
I was shocked when I found that you guys lost. Personally, I thought you'd blow away Tariq's team. But I guess Mr. Ahmed has a whole bunch of "suck-ups" lined up to support him in whatever he does. Its funny how they whine about "unfair practices" by other members of the CER (ACC in particular), when they themselves resort to cheap tactics, like removing the blog, just to prevent Jaggi from promoting his candidacy.
But anyway, let bygones be bygones. Next time, with better planning, I'm sure you guys will fare a lot better.
Once again, kudos to all of you.
yo Tango man..
so, you gonna drop us some hints this time...
c'mon man...we need some excitement..
Shekhs,
Looks like the Challengers hit the jackpot this time by picking up Froze. You all are the favorites for this year, provided MY BOY Sajay Patel plays more games.
RoRo,
Whats new with the Cats? Or should I say, whats old with the Cats? No worries though, you guys still have a couple more championships to win before joining the AARP :)
Any news of ND?
Shekhs, no more hints man. We'll all meet sometime this season.
Fair nuff...tango man.
never let up!!!
Thats the goal this year...NEVER let up!!!
Froze is the missing key to our Championship....matter of fact, he walked in to our team...so even better...
Hopefully your words will come true...it would be underachieving….. if its anything less than the championship...
We still have a long season....and lot of uncertainties...its gonna be interesting..
Sanjay definitely will make a big impact, both with bat and ball..if he plays most of the games...
Question is can we hold it all together????
so which league did your team represent adnan??? Im guessing our league. So there were 2 MWCC teams at the tournmnt.
CAN WE SEND AS MANY TEAMS AS WE WANT???
im new to this regional tournmnt no knowledge pls explain....
thanks
Tango,
These are actually very exciting times for the 'cats. we are getting into that age range where we are the YOUNGEST players amongst the veterans.:)
good to see you again.
Sheky, finger's doing better, a few more weeks and God willing I can get back on the field.
Lets get this blog rolling. Any exciting topics to discuss?
so which league did your team represent adnan??? Im guessing our league. So there were 2 MWCC teams at the tournmnt.
================================
No Sir. We represented National Cricket League which mostly consists of under 15 and under 19 candidates. Conferences cannot enter more than one team in the CER, but in MWCC's case I agree with C8W that due to the size of our league, we should be allowed to send more than one team to this tournament. Afterall we have the best talent in this region, but having one team representing the conference does not do justice to our players worthy of representing the zone. Also it is not fair to those who are not on management's A list.
FYI: Abhijit Joshi of United Cricket Club was rewarded for his performance in USA U15, by executive VP of USACA.

ANOTHER LAWSUIT IN THE MAKING ......
Management wants to take action against players who participated in behalf of other teams instead of MCC team in CER.
sounds like a plan Shekhs...
Ajoy, I don't think there will be any Law suit unless Mgt. decides to act arrogant and suspend players.
Just read the news on the website ... One more worse decision by the Management ...
I am with the United team and all other players who played in the other team ...
The irony is that the MCC did not decide on the team until the last day ... And now they want to penalise who were always enthusiastic about this competition ...
Wake up Management .. Wake up ...
I am not quite clear on the memo--
Are they saying we are suspended as of now or they will take actions after our written explanations??
United beat Bears, with 9 players on the field.

31.Conference Exclusivity Rule
31.1. During the regular season, playoffs and other Midwest tournaments, a Midwest Cricket Conference member (Player or Official) is not allowed to participate (in any capacity) in any other organized cricket activity (other than the ones conducted by USACA), without the express written permission of the MCC Executive Committee. Violation will result in suspension and/or fine against the player. The term and fine to be decided by the management.

I did not make this up. Mgmt should read their own rules and regulation before posting contradictory and threatening posts on their web site.
Adnan Baig

what does cricket has to do with all this? anyways...let's hope cricket wins......
Samir
ady,
let me cogratulate you on putting up the team first of all, as far as your rule interpretation goes.
adnan, can you pls show us the letter or email that gave you permission as per the rule.
CricketCrazy ...
The rule says that players can participate in USACA sponsored events .. no permission required ...
so what possible grounds is the suspension based on???i assume the CER is USACA event bcause it was organized by USACA??? does the website mention what rule was violated. or can they just make up things as they go? we should all get TA's consent b4 we wipe our ass.
if he doesn't like the way you walk he can write a memo and suspend you... who is looking out for the Mc Cricketers as we are now reffered to??? shame shame shame.
adnan you are right on your assessment of the rule, i was wrong. so that leaves mr. ahmad no option but to validate your participation.
on the other note what a great game btwn rajasthan and chennai, nailbiter, that yusuf pathan looks good.
adnan you are right on your assessment of the rule, i was wrong. so that leaves mr. ahmad no option but to validate your participation.
----------------------------
What kinda message mgmt is trying to send? Are they saying rules and constitution have no value in front of a memo issued by the comittee at the 11th hour?
If that's the reason we are being suspended then there is a serious problem here and we need to address it right away.
Adnan Baig
www.unitedcricket.org
About time somebody here that was effected to challenge this bogus rules with management. If management still continues to bully you then I am sure there is a LEGAL angle available. If you just accept this suspension then these atrocities will only get worse.
Adnan, good point. They have no grounds to suspend you or prevent you from playing.
The question I'd like to ask is this:
If a letter was to be sent to management today protesting this behaviour and treatment of fellow members, which teams would be willing to sign it? Without support, it will mean nothing. Regardless of how you voted, we must stand together on this issue.
I will sign it. Who else?
What news on the results from this week?
fire lost against jaguars.
Jaguars batted first and scored 226/8 in 40.
Fire all out for 145.
"I am very excited to play in this league among all the talented seniors. The experience in the US Under-15 tournament was very exciting and I am really looking forward to play in Division I in MWCC."
This are some of the few words spoken by 15 year old Abhijit during the first game break and what do we do, slap a suspension on the kid. I am just amazed as to how low one can get to satisfy one's ego. My request to atleast allow him to play fell on deaf ears. At 15 there is no care in the world, all you want is to go out and play. It was really sad to see him sit out for 80 overs and cheer us from sideline.

HE IS A THIEF. HE LOOTS PEOPLE FROM THIER CRICKET FUN AND FUNDS. NO OFFICIAL AUDIT REPORT ISSUED YET. 15 YEAR OLD BANNED FOR PLAYING IN A USACA TOURNAMENT. THIS IS WHY CRICKET HAS NO FUTURE IN THE USA. PEOPLE LIKE TARIQ AND SOHAIL BARI HAVE HUGE EGOS AND RUN THESE LEAGUES ON A FOR PROFIT BASIS FOR THEMSELVES. WHAT ATTROCITIES. WAKE UP CRICKETERS, WAKE UP BEFORE ALL YOU ARE LOOTED OF CRICKET. TEAMS HAVE 14 GAMES IN A SEASON 2-3 RAIN OUTS AND THEN THIS STUPID SUSPENSION ISSUES. CAN WE SUSPEND THE ADMINISTRATION IF THEY DON'T LISTEN TO US. IF YOU VOTE FOR TA IN THE ELECTIONS AND IF YOU ARE SUSPENDED. YOU WILL NOT ONLY BE REINSTATED FOR YOUR GOOD BEHAVIOR BUT ALSO WILL BE MADE THE SKIPPER OF THE TEAM THAT REPRESENTS OUR LEAGUE. THATS NOT SUCH A BAD DEAL. WHAT DO I GET WITH THE OTHER CANDIDATE: NO FAVORS, NO INJUSTICE, NO TOLERENCE, TRANSPARENCY OF FUNDS, THAT'S NOT GOOD FOR ME, TA IS
Eagles beat Springfield by 8 wickets
The ground was clogged with water in several areas because of several severe thunderstorms on friday night. We began the match at ~ 2pm, 25 overs each.
Springfield batted first on winning the toss and scored 83/9 in 25 overs. Eagles reached the score in 17 overs with 2 wickets down.
wow...I missed all of these..
Its totally ridiculous of management to suspend any player based on the participation in CER.
Above all..like Mehul said, abhijeet, a 15 year old aspiring cricketer - instead of patting his back with some prize, they slap a suspension!!
Ludicrous!!!
Adi, I'm with you..on signing a petition or anything that'll help revoke the suspensions (if there are any).
Adnan and Mehul,
Please let me know if I can be of any help.
I think we should all meet and try to come up with a players union.
I dont think I want to play in a league where you are trearted like a bunch of school kids...you have no breathing room..and need to ask permission from your teacher to go to the men's room...totally unaccepatble.
The whole point of having organized cricket at this stage in most of our lives, is to play some good cricket with freedom, not fearing the management..
Letter sent to the management.
On behalf of the following players, I Adnan Baig, President United Cricket Club, would like to show cause for participation in 2008 Central East Regional championship held over memorial day weekend hosted by Great Lakes Cricket Conference.
United Cricket Club obtained the legal services of James Noonan and associates of Chicago and reviewed the constitution of Midwest Cricket Conference (MWCC) as well as MWCC ground rules and found no evidence that would incriminate the following players from participating in 2008 Central East Regional championship.

I am too in signing the letter and offer my team support to the unfairly victimized ones ..
And if management still persists with ban .. we will have to do some kind of non-cooperation movement .. like ignore the AGMs, each team umpire only its 3 matches and no more ..

man that says it all...Why are the MWC accepting this is beyond me. TA man you need to use your brain that was given to you please.
I think teams should just override whatever management has to say on suspensions. If teams don't abide by TA's decisions, there will be no problems. I know that if it were up to me, I would allow opposing team's suspended players to play against us, no questions asked. The management has gone too far with their tussle and is making a mockery of this league, therefore, they need to be restrained. I wonder who voted for these nutjobs again. In the past years, Flames, a team associated with management, has players who simltanously participated in ACC but there were no actions taken against them. What kind of a message is being sent by the management here by suspending United's players? I am fully backing Adnan and his boys on this matter and will definitely sign the petition to reinstate all the players.
Folks.. it is getting crazier by the day. It was extremely sad to hear a 15 year old talented cricketer barred from playing cricket.
I tried calling people in the management. Sridher and I played phone tag. Tariq, as expected, shut down his phone. Zafer claimed that he was not part of management. Krishna is in India. I couldnt get through to Sohail.
I dont understand how a management that did did not have a team one day prior to regionals, make this decision.
Abhijeet Joshi, is our first 15 year old talent, who has done well internationally. With this management around, it looks like he will be the last one. GLCC, recognized his achievements and gave him a cash prize. Not only has this management not done anything to recognize and encourage him, they have the freakin audacity to force him to not play.
Also, these guys made a decision and sent it out on Fri evening very well knowing that there would be very little time, if any to appeal.
Folks, talk to your captains, colleagues and send an email to the management expressing your disappointment.
The players union is an absolute must. Please email me at jaggicricket@gmail.com if you wish to be part of the player union.
The players union is an absolute must.
=========================
Yeah, but what good is it if it is not recognized by the management? First we need to convince the management either by having a face to face or calling an emergency AGM. Once the concept is approved then we can iron out details. This needs to be approached from team perspective. We need teams' support behind us to make it a reality.
United is in.

I will send out emails to individual teams.
Just sent the email out to all teams. Please help spread the word.
Here is a copy of the email:
My Fellow Cricketers,
The management decided on Fri evening to not allow a 15 year old and 4 others to participate in Saturday's game. The kid, Abhijit Joshi, represented American National team in the CLICO Under-15 International Cricket Championship in the West Indies and performed extremely well. http://www.usaca.org/Tournaments/Int/2008/Clico/Abhijit_Joshi.htm
It would be reasonable to expect the management to honor this talented kid and provide him the platform to ensure that he can better his skills. Instead, they have decided to NOT ALLOW him to play. How short-sighted can this management get?
Also, the management decided to publish the ban on Fri evening, very well knowing that all 5 players had a game on Saturday. They also decided to switch off their cell phones - they like to make decisions, but not like to give answers.
Again, I must remind everybody that the management did not have a team till one day prior to the regionals. They decided to start calling players a couple of days prior to the regionals to form a team. What kind of answers are they looking for?
I propose to start a players union and need your help. The goal of the players union is to ensure that the players interest are appropriately represented.
Folks, this is our league and we need to ensure that it moves in the right direction. Please email me if you wish to be part of the players union. We plan to call an emergency AGM and talk about the suspensions and also the players union.
Also, please visit the unofficial blog (www.midwestcricketer.org) to voice your concerns and be part of the discussion.
Regards
Jaggi
I guess it's safe to say this is the sadest momoment in MCC history.
Looking at this blog realy gives a good feel on how members view MGT??
At the ground Saturday when I got the call asking if I am bieng allowed to play cause United players who were suspended I felt sick to the stomach with anger and Rage. suspending a 15yr old for trying to improve?.
suspending me at my age??.. Who cares but to suspend the future of cricket in USA is straigt up bogus.
This is the reason why we fought for change because we saw this coming but only a few believed in us.
You need to stand up and be counted..now.. I am there with you all.
Guys, all this hoopla over CER tournament! Judging by the scores provided by Aditya I can see why the mgmt didn't send a team in earlier tournaments. MCC won by 8 wickets, 140 odd runs and 180 odd runs! What kind of competition is that?! I'm sure a few of our good Div 1 teams would've won the CER on their own, let alone the allstar team. USACA is a joke of an organization.
This mgmt was elected by us in a democratic fashion and if you don't like their decision making, tough luck! I guess remember that the next time you vote! Jaggi and Adnan, your attitude is like the politicians in India and Pak who sit in the opposition and stir up trouble just because they can. Take a chill pill, when mgmt had said that they would enter a team in CER why did you (Adnan) had to take matters into your own hands?

so let's just not bother sending anybody anywhere cause we are just so much better then the rest of the world. i'm sure we can beat anyone...
This mgmt was elected by us in a democratic fashion and if you don't like their decision making, tough luck!
-----------------------------------
spoken like a true managent suck up. cross_bat, you obviously play for flames, buying votes is hardly a democratic process. and we don't have to put up with whatever management says, we as players have a right to defend oursleves, this is not gitmo, where they lock you up without any representation.
I ask you, what rule was violated by these guys, how come, the memo does not state the law that was broken. That's becuse no law was broken. Cross_bat take the blinders off and get your nose out TA's ass, instead of smelling his crap, smell the coffee and wake up!
S_D, there are a few folks who aspire playing for the US national cricket team. The only way for them to get noticed is to play in the regionals.
You were right in saying that there is an abundance of talent in our league. No matter how badly USACA is run, there is still a US national team that will now compete to get qualified for the world cup. Wouldn't you want some of our players on that US team?
Comparing us to politicians for asking questions is unfortunate. I am guessing that you are one of those that only cares about playing for your team and not care about the aspirations of other people.
"when mgmt had said that they would enter a team in CER"
They said that we would participate and never did anything about it till two days before the regionals. Are you supposed to wait till the last day before you make your long weekend plans?
I forgot to add Rup to the list! Jaggi you and Adnan have both tried and failed to win at the elections, that means a majority of teams do not share your views, accept that gracefully and sit tight for 2 years when you get to try again. Adnan made one good point that if the mgmt does not recognize this players' union you are forming, what good is it? Whining on the blog?
Jaggi, Adnan, and all opposition party people.
SAD, that a 15 year old talent of MWCC was suspended this week. But can you all stop and realize why he was suspended before showing all this sorrow over him being suspended. Adnan and UCC put this kid in a position to get suspended, they should have been smart, they should have obeyed the rules for the league they so dearly love and unfortunately bash about at the same time on this blog (oh on a side not change the blog’s name to “OPPISITION PARTY BLOG” or something like that). United should have realized representing a different league is a big no no in the rules of THE DEMOCRATICLY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF MWCC’s rule book. He was elected fairly, he is the president of the league and has the right to suspend players representing different leagues…..what u all need to realize and get off the sympathy cry for this kid is why Adnan, even though warned put this kid in the position to get suspended.
By the way I asked the very question why they waited so long to announce a team and its participation in the CER to a very involved Management member, his response was the CER took too long to respond with all the necessary requirements from there end, thus management didn’t know till late whether they can participate in the tournament.
One thing I will agree with you all is that the notification of the suspension was too late and questionable, the suspensions should have been announced earlier so united could have appealed or done something, that was a little shady I will admit.
Adnan for you who has seen it all with this management should have been aware that this will happen and should have not put the kid in a position to get suspended.
Jaggi, the players assoc is a must, will agree to that, but like adnan said it means shit if its not recognized by management.
S_D,
Adding me to what the list??. Thank you.
(oh on a side not change the blog’s name to “OPPISITION PARTY BLOG” or something like that).

Anon,
It should be more Like Ass Kissers VS Opposition to Mgt.
Which Category will you fall in cause from you comments above you are going both ways.

I will take you back to last year when I was the general secretary. Tariq was sent an email about the regionals, but, he never acknowledged getting it for a long time. When I pushed him saying that I would contact Masood Chick, I was sternly asked to not to so. I have saved the email which goes through the sequence of events.
When Adnan had all the necessary information two weeks prior to the regionals, why didnt this management? I can guarantee you that the management had all the information needed to make an informed decision.
The players union will happen only when more than 50% of the teams say they want one. The time to step up is now.
And with respect to why Abhijit chose to go with NCA, refer to my previous message about this mgmt not doing anything till the last minute.
oh rup
see u fall in both category's adnan's ass kisser group and the opposition party group....
and u dumb nut u should realize im playin a fair game if im accepting goods and criticizing bads from both sides....u sure ur not popping open beer cans at work??? Be reasonable, just don’t always act like a typical brainless fast bowler
Ok anon,
You getting personal and i don't like That..
At least i can pop a beer can at the park .. while you be popp'n nuts..whose and where we will find out soon??
Anonymous and S_D because of fools like you this management will continue to do what they do.
Where in the rules state no other team should play in CER? It seems like comprehension is a problem here
Rup,
aint worth paying attention to anon...
let it go man..
oh shekhs how nice of you.......
go and see who started it, ididnt even say a word to rup...my comments were to jaggi and adnan.....
anyways u 2 have ur moments....
and CJACK the CER it self says one team per league
thanks Sheky, I man cool...
Where you al play'n this Saturday.. We at WP against IIT and I will be popp'n some more beer cans from the looks of the Susp??.

Hey Anon where in the rule book it stops players from participating in CER? Any reference from the RULE to support ur coment?
For the CER, I would have expected to see a list of probables announced 2-3 weeks prior to the tournament. The message should be that if you are part of the probables, then your first allegiance should be to our league. I think that is fair.
In this case, there was no such communication to the selected players till 2 days before the regionals. We have not played in the regionals in a real long time. Now, you guys tell me what the players should do? Making your plans is about the only choice.
I have accepted the results of the election. Does that mean I should sit around and watch these guys mess up the future of some of our players?
The Great Lakes Cricket Conference hosted the event this year on behalf of USACA Central East Region.(Thus making it an official USACA event) Suspension should be null and void and an apology to the players should be posted!!!
A Directors' XI team, which is not a member-league or conference, participated in the tournament.
centurion, yes there was a little gimmickry on the part of some leagues like c8w said in the post that a night league of acc eneterd their team as a separate league. But, if we wanted to do that sort of thing then it was the mgmt's prerogative to do so and Adnan etc can advise on that but not take action on their own. What did they form? A rebel league?
anon back. yahoo. he dim bulb that makes rest of us shine brighter. he why we all should appreciate education more. he the garbage that makes lotus look beautiful.
confushu say: whether big needle or small needle, a prick is a prick!
cross_bat,
we tout ourselves to be the biggest and baddest league and now you wanna cry fould, the other leagues aren't playing fair. oh no, on TA should be allowed to play politics and if he gets out played throw up his hands and send his surrogates to the blog(like chutia walla, i mean criket wall) there are rougue leagues... trust me if tariq would have been smart enough to think, he would have 10 leagues registered. can we agree, his has no foresight and is alwyas reactive instead of being proactive!!!!
what does confusicious say about that.
man that sits on his hands ends up smelling like ass!
s_d,
I dont think anybody here is trying to create a rebel league.
If that was the intention, none of us would've participated in the election.
We are all trying to take the league to the next level - you, me and the rest of us.
I dont think its a bad idea to have another team represnt the area, if there are people who want to play and represent - provided they are not selected by MWCC originally.
In this case, MWCC didnt even have a team until the 11th hour, so a few ppl who wanted to participate put up a team.
Now, I dont think any of those ppl who are suspended were even contacted by MWCC in terms of participation. So, I dont see why they cannot form another team.
They are paying outta their pocket anyways.
We are not any international or professional league that we get paid to play.
We all pay out of our pockets to have fun. there are a few young aspiring cricketers who should get the exposure. If MWCC does not give a chance and they feel like they have a shot, they should definitely give it a shot!!
Wouldn't you send your son (its hypothetical) if you think MWCC didnt pick him in the CER team..?
s_d ur ignorance is even making anon look good. that is hard 2 do. ady and others play 4 ncl league. so can respresent it. if any rules violated that 4 CER mgmt 2 say. no mwcc rules violated. except the ego of mgmt. for clarity please see adys post earlier.
i heard only problem between leagues is mwcc and acc. many others play 4 temple league naperville league etc. lot of guys from all teams play. so if tariq wants 2 suspend then most of league in trouble. b consistent. b fair.
if mwcc carry on this way then at some point it may get split. why play 4 a league that charges 2400 and gives so little and then makes stupid rules. noone wants split but im just telling how it is.
tariq acting like bush. stupid. irrational. stubborn. ego. 2-faced. did anon forget to give him lollypop and kiss on ass?
brotha centurion. b careful. seems ur name getting outdated. should b double century. bcoz u have learnt the lessons of confushus well.
just call me grashopper
shekh u nice guy but little naive. as say back in desh bhola. ur ideas make sense but u try reason with ppl who not want 2 listen. chalo someones got 2 do it.
confushus say: shit no have ears.
can someone with good research skills look into the rules and see if we can get rid of the admin. for not doing there job properly??? IMPEACH. how about getting all the capys together and like alpy said do some sort of a quiet protest to show what a croc of crap this admin. is...
anon where u go? oil prices have gone up not vaseline. its ok 2 use that stuff when bent over. does not make less of man if u use vaseline. after all u still man enuff 2 take it over and over.
big shitter your guru Ady tried going down the legal route against the current mgmt and his lawsuit was thrown out. The worst part was the piling legal fees that cost each team $300 more and missed banquet for one year. RE: Impeachment, it wasn't that long ago that this mgmt was given a vote of confidence by the league, you'd have to wait a lil longer than a month before doing a revote/impeachment.
S_D,
so the players in this league have no right? TA can do anything he wants, but yet wants to cry foul about ACC and masood chik? they are coming after our grounds... like a whinny lil beotch. why can't we just go and get more grounds? oh, i forgot, running a league from philly and misery, you can't find the time?
guys i thought the blog was to talk about cricket, it looks more like a platform for mgmt haters and lovers and jaggi in particular is not wasting any oppurtunity.
NOW BEFORE YOU GUYS START JUMPING ALL OVER ME, THE REASON I MENTIONED THIS IS BECAUSE YESTERDAY THERE WAS A VERY ENTERTAINING GAME PLAYED, AND I MENTIONED THAT ON THE BLOG AND I'M PRETTY SURE LOT OF PEOPLE WATCHED IT OR HEARD ABOUT IT, AND THERE WASN'T A SINGLE RESPONSE TO MY POST.
Adnan for you who has seen it all with this management should have been aware that this will happen and should have not put the kid in a position to get suspended.

but something tells me that I aint that naive, coz I stood up for change..

are you really justifying what TA and his lil suk ups do?
oh, yeah, u actually like going to those banqutes and watching the admin. team drink like idiots and make fool of them sleves.(what a waste)
shame on you!!! try to look at this with some objectivity. i know that is a novel concept.

lets not forget some good matches played over the weekend ...
Phoenix having a dream start this season .. And in Div 2 .. Eagles showing gr8 consistency ...
In our match against Hammond .. we were well in the chase at the drink break - 163/3 .. but quick wickets after drink break ... made us stumble on what could had been an unforgettable chase ...
Brothers there is no reason to start calling names to each other. this is a blog and everyone has the right to express their opinion. Let's not get personal and call each other names. I for one would like to know what rule have I broken to be the candidate for suspension?

See again u start with the bending down and taking it with Vaseline shit….see the more u mention that shit gives more proof of u being a fag.
I have noticed u disappear from the blog and as soon as i start commenting ur back….i must pissed u off big time….today I didn’t even mention u or insult u, yet here u are going at it again……I know ull reply to this but pls keep the bending over and Vaseline shit out…..dont show ur character here…..why don’t u ask ur buddy ady to create a new blog for you people….ill give u the name for the blog call it “Big hitter’s GAY & FOB ASS blog”

Totally agree with adnan.. stop calling names to each other and lets try to get alomg with everyone. Any update on WC/MCC game? Naren and romo any news?
shekhs u not naive bcoz u stood 4 change. u naive 4 thinking that some of ppl deserve/want better. these r ppl who enjoy being stepped on or 2 pay tariqs bills or 2 kiss ass. u naive bcoz u think that change. but is better 2 b a dreamer than a fool.
why drag adnan down with me? i not know him. i may agree with some of his points but so does many others in league. want 2 talk about me no problems but dont get on his case bcoz he not say anything 2 u.
now anon thank u for coming back. we needed ur entatainment. my english may b bad but ur logic is bad. i not say stuff properly but i make sense. u make nonsense sound good. which is better fool or mute? shouldn't ask u bcoz u will pick fool. in that case u r better.
why u afraid of being gay? if u played baseball u catcher and tariq pitcher. so sweet. all types welcome on blog.
but my talking about u bending over more metaforically. not literally but whatever u prefer. point is u take whatever shoved down from mgmt. others like me will not. chalo someday u may get it. but till then u r most entataining. how was kiss today? what u get from kissing it? do u get special favours? tell rest of us who dont do it what it like!!
cricket krazzy now u acting crazy. blog is 4 discussion of cricket. most controversial thing 2 do with cricket and us happened was wonderful decision taken 4 interest of cricket and league. so we talk about. if not happen then we talk about u or r'jsthan royals win. but blog used 2 share ideas or dumb thought depending on ur point of view. so dont blame jaggi adnan s_d anon 4 talking about relavant topic.
notice not much said when mucc or mg not pay fees and suspended. bcoz mgmt not at fault and teams should have paid. opposition not just 4 sake of opposition but if actions taken not good.
bh fine with me cause it looks like thats all you wanna do, ipersonally dont give a rats ass what you aor anybody else for that matter wants to talk here. since election it seems like blog has become a forum and thats my opinion, and if you dont like it so be it.

CJACK the CER it self says one team per league
---------------------------------
anon, don't let the facts get in the way. there were a total of 6 teams there and 2 of the teams, GLCC and directors XI play in the same league. what rule are you referencing?
-------
The Central-East Regional Tournament (as with all other regional tournaments around the country) basically always invite one team per league - thats the way it usually should work anyway.
This time one team dropped out at the last moment (I think it was Minnesota, not sure), and so an additional team was cobbled together late and named "Directors XI". with players entirely from the host league (GLCC).
However, it should be pointed out, MCC didnt send 2 teams or a "rebel" team either - the NCL is an actual existing league that plays every weekend (not a "ghost" league), and they were obviously invited to put up their all-star team as well, same as all the other leagues. It was for NCL that the concerned players played - I believe all of them play in the NCL on a regular basis anyway, and NCL chose them as its all-stars, which is up to the NCL to do I guess.
(Similarly, most of the ACC players play in the ICML, which is also a "real league" in the sense that they actually play organized cricket - and ICML chose a lot of ACC players in its side too, and ended up reaching the finals where the MCC side beat them).
In all this, the truly sad case is with Abhijit. Clearly the best young player in the midwest (and probably the nation), his *father* actually is the head of the NCL (Chidambar, he is also Youth Development Coordinator for the entire Central-East Region appointed by USACA). Whats a 15-year-old kid to do, not play for his father's team when selected, for fear of being banned? Its a near-impossible situation for a kid to be put in.
c8w
True Sadiq. Not only is it a tough position for Abhijit, but also for the rest. They may not say it, but just because they are 2 or 3 times 15, doesn't mean that they deserve their treatment.
Neither have these players done anything detrimental to cricket, nor have they harmed the MWCC in any way. This rule/memo introduce in the last minute seems like it was put in place for the sake of putting one's foot down.
There seems to be deep schism forming in the MWCC. One that could threaten to break up this league of ours. And the management team must be responsible for this. Since they won the election and are entrusted with the responsibility of running the league properly, it is their job to heal the divide and bring both sets of groups from the election together.
If not, people may feel forced to move on, and that would be a sad day indeed for all sides!
I had a question about scheduling: Can the mgmt. change schedules without talking to/taking the two captains into confidence? It seems that the mgmt. has changed the schedule for our game against ICC (originally scheduled for Jun 7) without talking to anyone from our team. We were surprised to see it on the websie today....We weren't even informed of the change. I don't know if they talked to ICC about it; but they have changed the date as well as the ground (the game is now going to be played at Riverside Park, IN).
Vasu
IIT Cricket Club
vasu,
this is yet another example of mgt. weilding their will without concern for anyone else! there is no transparency in this league...
there has to be some power brought back to the paying members of this org. the decisions should be communicated and aproved by the capt. of the teams.
grin and bear it or bend over and take it!
sadiq,
would you let these players play if you were umpiring, knowing good and well they did not violate any rules, or atleat the stated rules.
31.1
do you consider CER to be a USACA event?
I just want to make it clear to everyone that there will be legal action if Management hands us suspension. Which simply means that there will be a court order on the league suspending all games until the verdict comes out. We have already taken this abuse for the game against Bears, but we are not going to keel over and play dead against Pak Gym. I wanted to make it public just so there are no twisted rumors and this time I won't drop it on a promise that it will not happen going forward.
If management wants a war, they will get one.
Adnan Baig
www.unitedcricket.org
yea adnan im sure this will further endear you to all mcc teams!
From what I understand of the rules and what the Adnan and his NCL team members are saying is that they have not violated any MCC rules by participating in the CER tournament which is a USACA organized event. Fair enough...if they indeed didnt violate any rules, then the current management has no reason to suspend the players from playing the rest of the MCC season.
However, also as per one of the MCC rules, do each and every player (whose name has been posted on the website with regards to the alleged rule violation) have written permission from the MCC management to participate in another league such as the NCL - for which they represented a team in the recent CER?
-before guys like anon, bh or anyone etc...start screaming ...I wanna just state that I am not picking any sides (i.e. current managements or the "others") but merely concerned as a playing and obviously paying member of the MCC.
the memo specifically says the CER, does not mention playing for another league. just participating in CER. let's tackle that first!
and then go around and start supsending all of the players that have played in defferent leagues and not just acc. you will find that over half the league plays in different leagues without consent of management. these specific group of players have been singled out due to sheere spite. as someone mentioned before, flames had their own players playing in ACC and never received a reprimand!
cent, the memo reads:
Registered Midwest Cricket Conference players are advised not to represent/play for any other team or league. Doing so would result in suspension from the MCC league.
notice the any other team or league part!
Players who Violated the rules in Central Regional Tournamnent
is the title of memo.
This is why they need to be clear, what is the suspension for? representing CER or playing for NCL?
I thought the leagues beef was with playing in ACC!!! now they wanna bar you from playing any cricket at all. where is the justice in that? we pay to play not the other way around!!!
a Midwest Cricket Conference member (Player or Official) is not allowed to participate (in any capacity) in any other organized cricket activity (other than the ones conducted by USACA)
CER is a USACA event thus trumping anyother rule!!!
case closed!
Registered Midwest Cricket Conference players are advised not to represent/play for any other team or league. Doing so would result in suspension from the MCC league.
notice the any other team or league part!
==================================
Does the memo supercedes MCC ground rule 31.1?

Let us be honest here. What is the purpose of this league... To provide an opportunity to enjoy the game and promote cricket.
I guess the purpose got defeated in the midst of ego, power and money.
By the way, who doesnt play cricket in other leagues or so called organized cricket. Grapevine has it that members of management also play cricket in other leagues. Is the management going to suspend its own members to support their decision to suspend those who participated in CER.
food for thought management......
Yikes.. Too much leagal stuff for me..

-------
I dont know what these particular players have or dont have - they'll obviously have to comment for themselves. However, the whole "exclusivity" rule has always usually been understood to apply to (and historically been enforced for) only the ACC (with the reasoning being that they come after our grounds), not for any other leagues.
From what I understand, a *lot* of players from various teams have played at different times in the NCL - not just the 5 who went to CER on the NCL team (even some players who went to CER on the MCC team). It is a temple league from what I understand, and draws participants from all over. Others have played in the small Naperville league, given geographical convenience.
And, of course, that is hardly all. The entire Purdue team has *always* played in 2 leagues - for the past 5 years or so that theyve been in our league, they have also played in an Ohio league (they supposedly actually won the title in that league last year). The Milwaukee United players pretty much all play in an organized event, the internal "Royal Challenge" or some such, in Milwaukee itself. Plenty of the Madison players supposedly play a 30/30 league in their home area. Some of the best MCC players have on occasion flown into other cities to play on other teams in local leagues. Almost none of these have ever gotten "written permission" from the league for what is clearly "organized cricket" elsewhere - some because they werent aware they even needed permission, others because it was always generally understood that the exclusivity law applied to the ACC, and so nobody figured a permission slip was actually neccessary unless you were planning on playing in the ACC (and in that case permission was unlikely to be granted anyway).

-----------
I dont think anyone doubts that CER is a USACA event - it is actually *the* USACA event in the Central-East portion of the country of which we are a part (Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky etc IIRC). Because, of course, it is effectively the selection-tournament for picking the Central-East-Regional squad that will travel to Dallas to play in the Western Regionals (and, if they win there, proceed further onto the US Nationals, after which the US national team will be picked for international events). The CER is as much as USACA event as a Ranji match between, say, Delhi and Punjab is a BCCI event - fairly obviously so.
I dont think that is so much the question in this case - in that I dont think anyone would really make the argument that CER isnt a USACA event. Heck, even the booklet they handed us (with all partipants pictures etc) at the tournament says "USACA Central East Regional Tournament 2008" on it :-)
Management probably has concerns about MCC players playing for a different team against an MCC team etc, and what that could mean down the road. It is a legitimate enough question, and one that needs to be answered if we're going to consistently participate in USACA events from now on (as we hopefully are).
The answer in the future in this regard obviously needs to be found. One possible answer(this is purely in my own personal opinion, and means basically nothing, note :-) is probably better and earlier communication next year, picking an MCC squad a couple weeks before the CER next year, and maybe including a new clause in the rules that says you cannot turn down the MCC squad (if asked) and then still turn up to play against the MCC etc. That is, we in the MCC insist on the right to have our best possible team represent us, and not turn us down and go play for someone else against us. That, in my personal opinion, could answer this dilemma quite well for the future.
As for *me* letting people play :-).. I have no authority in this regard, and no other umpire does either. An umpires job is to control what happens on the field only, nothing else - you cant ask any umpire to start deciding who can get on the field and who cant. There are other people who have the job of deciding player eligibility for the league - any beef oughta be taken up with them, not any umpire, obviously :-)

I would like to take this moment and thank Phoenix Cricket Club for supporting us through these adverse times. MWCC should feel proud to have a club like that to lead us into the future. I am confident.

why has a U.S. under 15 player been suspended from MWCC. you talk about a power trip from that lil picece of crap(TA) I think USACA needs to be notified about this as to how TA and ass(ociates) are punishing the future of cricket without merit!!! they need to intervene and take this sh!% head and his admin out!
testing 1...2....3
Rup,
what happened to the game against AAA. Need more info on that. I thought i misread. Or is it a misprint ?
i have been going through the blog and alll i see are comments about a 15 year old guy being banned/suspended. Everybody seemed to be concerned about that. Is that truly the case. Is everybody concerned about talent and not about themselves. Personally if i were also suspended i would have been sad for me because it is one less game for me. As it is we only have 14 games in a year. So if you are not happy being suspended, say it. It is really ok. I would have.
Mere do paise.
On behalf of the entire ICC I will like to say thanks to all that has supported me and the other players through the suspension.
Most of all a sincere thank you to Phoenix CC for going above and beyond to help us out.
Preetam,
I think all the players suspended showed dissapointment and has addressed that with MGT.
We are hoping it ends soon.

It's true cause they are the future of Cricket in this country and if we tie there hands and let the old folks try to improve then I must say Cricket is heading for the retirement home..
Rup
rup & Adnan you guys are thanking Phoenix CC for supporting u guys in the suspension. No harm intended, just was wondering what they did.....iknow Phoenix CC players they all are good guys, did they talk to tariq for you guys???
Adnan, Rup,
Thanks for the appreciation. It is the least Phoenix could do, and we believe in action more than words (though our action was words!!). We really hope that we can move past this at the earliest with a sensible and reasonable solution. Please feel free to let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.
We plan to continue being a responsible member team in the league and standing up for what we believe in. To all the other teams, I request that you too provide your feedback supporing your fellow players (as a team or as an individual) to the ENTIRE management team.
Aditya
Way to go Adi and Phoenix...a nice gesture...shows a lot of character in you and your team..
Kudos!
Shekhs ..ho ya do'n!!!!
Call me when you get a free min.. We need to hook up for a couple of cold ones.
This is not about hating the mgmt or Tariq or anyone else. The only reason for this would be to support our fellow players, regardless of who they are. Would anyone else be willing to send the same email to management from them or their team?
if so, please email me at aditya.burman@gmail.com and I'll provide further details.
ICC Vs AAA As requested.
I was hoping no one will ask so i don't have to post the Ass whoooooooppppnnn ICC got.
Well got to the ground at 9:50. found out we lost the toss because we did not have 7 people at the ground at 9:45..Lost the toss even though the ground was not ready for play... Not to mention the matting was wet and we had to wait till 10:35 to start.
umpire told me could not play so you know how that felt.
We started with 8 guys (Saturday is a bitch for ICC) and gradually made it to 11 by 20overs.
Got an early break throug via Run out but then thing just did not go our way. AAA lost wickest on interval but the keep piling on the runs at over 5 p/o. We dropped some catches especially the guy who made 80+.. 4 chances.. did not help our cause.. AAA got to 225 all out in 35 overs.
ICC in reply all out for 53.. dissapointed we are... Not much to really talk about.. bilall got a 6r
We are hoping to recover against IIT this week..but it's a Saturday game????
Rup,
that really shows you are the heart and sould of that team!
i will tell my captain to send an email as well!
preetam talk to your team member the vp of div-2 to find out how they are messing up the future. adnan rup, has somebody got back to you??? It looks like another fri night decision coming up.
hollerrr...
yeah Rup..will call you in a bit..
Adi,
I agree ...I think we should all work together to resolve this asap.
The league can only move forward if we work together, the management and all of us....thats wise and productive.
We all have our differences, but that doesn't mean we should stop the show. We should resolve the differences in an amicable manner.
Will do Shekhs.... This afternoon..
Centurion,
I think it was a learning experience for my team mates. This game realy shed light to the talented players of ICC that they have got the talent to play and win without a key member. with me missing several players had to accept new roles and that is hard to do in a 40 overs game if you have never done that before.
ICC is not down or gone.. they are coming back with a stronger will to win..
By the way thank you for the Kudos and hope your Captain will stand up for what you all think is right
Adi...
You and your team are a class act man.. Keep up the good work and hope all the teams can have the same attitude...
About ICC vs AAA
I think we did not do that bad given the circumstances and as I told the the guys on the field I am very proud of them. I think the AAA game will help us big time.
deepdown, sorry but I am not the VP of div2. And we keep the mgmt discussions out of our conversations. Not really interested to know the intrigues going on. I was just curious why nobody was talking about themselves being unhappy.
Rup, is Simon not playing ? didnt see his name. I am sure you guys will come back strong against IIT. And then will come back to haunt us.
Preetham....Simon hasnt been a regular player with ICC for a while now....heard that he got married sometime last year....which for most guys usually means the "beginning of the end..." of cricket playing days :)
j/k....hopefully Rup or jack can share the real reason why Simon hasnt been playing lately....he definitely used to be a good player and an important piece of the ICC team over the past few years.
Thanks Chally.
cleo he took a job with a bad schedule, we are hopeful he wil be back soon base on what he said to us.
Yep Simon was one of the better players in our league.
As Jack stated Family does throw a big wench into our cricket(ICC)schedules.
He has made several attempts to come this year but every time his work keeps preventing him.
We all wish he could come and play soon.
Chicago's Olympic candidacy to be decided by October 2009. Which means, if Chicago is selected, WP may not be available from 2010 onwards.

USA Cricket..
Lets talk on why they are out of 2011 world cut. Jersey Kicked the crap out of them..
Jersey and Afghanistan make it to the nex round... Yes my friends Afghanistan of all teams and our good old USA team back to figure out why.
I feel if MCC had fielded their best team they could beat the USA team any day.. It's a joke at all level of cricket in the USA.. other that the kids.. the procedures in place to promote cricket in the USA and selection of the team??. Sad man,,,,Sad.
Rup half if not all of Afghanistan team attended academies in Pakistan and played competitive level Cricket. I am not surprised that they won the division.

Midwest issues show cause notice to USA U-15 Cricketer

Midwest issues show cause notice to USA U-15 Cricketer
The Management of the Midwest Cricket Conference issued a 'show cause' notice to 6 of its members for representing a different league in a Regional Tournament. Included on the list was fifteen year old Abhijit Joshi, who recently scored four consecutive half-centuries playing for ICC Americas XI at the Clico International U-15 tournament.
Five of the named players are part of the United Cricket Club. The players, including Abhijit, were not part of the official Midwest team at the Central East Regional tournament.
Many cricketers in the Chicago region, including Abhijit, play in multiple leagues. In Abhijit's case, he plays for his academy team in the National Cricket League, which is run by his father (and coach) Chidambar Joshi.
Talking about his decision to play in the Midwest Cricket Conference, the region's toughest league, Abhijit is reported to have told his team mates - "I am very excited to play in the (MidWest) league among all the talented seniors. I am really looking forward to play in Division I."
"People should understand that this is not a disloyal act - it is not Kevin Pietersen turning up to play for UK because he did not get on the South African team. Playing for multiple leagues is a done thing in Chicago. A lot of my friends play in multiple leagues. We do this because we like to play more cricket than what just one league can afford. In my case, the two leagues also play a different format," one Chicago cricketer told DreamCricket.com. He said, "this phenomenon is so prevalent here that it is quite pervasive. The General Secretary of the American Cricket Conference, Khurram Syed, is also the President of the ICML league. And Khurram is the Chairman of the regional board as well."
A parent of a junior cricketer in New Jersey said, "Abhijit is an amazing cricketer and has put USA on the world cricket map. This kid deserves as much exposure as our system can provide. He should not be faulted for wanting to play with the best junior and senior players in the region, on the contrary, he should be encouraged to do so. My appeal to his management is - don't make a young cricketer's life difficult. It is hard enough for a 15 year old who aspires to play for USA. Each week, the kid needs to organize a ride to the ground, make time for the sport outside of his regular sporting activities due to the non-existence of school cricket, then he has to deal with all the other issues that plague USA cricket - poor infrastructure, rough weather, short season, lack of high level competition, etc."
Midwest gave until yesterday (June 4th) to the players to show cause to the league management stating "the reasons for their actions and why the league should not take appropriate actions as suggested in the rules." The "players have chosen to defy the league's conditions," the league said, adding that a decision on their suspension would be made by June 6th.
Interestingly, the presence of multiple leagues in the Chicago area serving many of the same cricketers came to the forefront in the recently concluded national election.
One league administrator said - "In the USACA election where a league enjoyed the same right to vote regardless of the number of non-overlapping players, or even the size of the league, I think that was a bad idea because it skewed that election, but that is a topic for another day."
"This is really about players who played for their other league in a regional competition. 'Dual citizenship' is a practical reality in Chicago cricket. The leagues and the region need to work together and resolve this in a manner that is not detrimental to the future of bright cricketers like Abhijit."

Next stop USACA and Cricinfo.

I personally think that MWCC is going down the tube. Forget the level of cricket, the way league is ran, playing condition etc. What I see now is Fear and Retaliation. I clearly see TA being paranoid about other leagues chipping away at his bread and butter that he is using fierce retaliation strategy to crush those that do not agree with his MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES.
Nirvana would have been to see TA displays good leadership skills to involve and leverage people that don't drink the same KOOLAID. Instead it appears to me that he is going out of his way to make sure that he runs some of you out of MWCC.
I am a big believer that this bully attitued of TA will only destroy MWCC further. Now many of you will say oh shit I want to play here so I will put up with this shit or it does not effect me. Well think again. What happens in this league effect all of us. I liked what someone said earlier in this blog "Today its them and tomorrow it will be you". This means a lot because once management feels that they can do anything, make up any crap rule and people will just abide by it then it is like handing a key blank check. To me his attitude is similar to President BUSH. See how his party will go down in this election. History tells us that people's voice means something but it requires Few Good Men to challenge the monopolistic system.
Do we have a choice?
Yes. TA attitude is if you don't like it here then leave. Last I checked you all pay $$ to play here. Just imagine if 15-25 teams picked up and left MWCC to either join a league nearby or lets say start a new league. Just imagine what that will do to TA's pocket book? and how drastically the level of cricket drop here in MWCC.
What leverage TA have?
Ground Ground Ground. I think Jaggi & Adnan should work together to secure other alternate grounds or join hands with Glendale Heights league to build a better league that is not run by one person and his interest. Trust me it will be difficult for a year or 2 but people/players will follow.
Thoughts?
Tango at this point there are only 2-3 teams that would leave mwcc at the very most. In the solution you're suggesting, everyone is a loser the new league like you said will take 2-3 yrs or so to establish and people will lose valuable playing time against decent opposition. The only solution for this snowballing issue is to either call a meeting or management redefining the grey areas of the league exclusivity rule(s).

S_D must be an MBA and nothing less..only one who has answers for all. Just curious - who are you? which team in MWCC do you play for? Can I shake your hands and get that great knowledge of walking the thinline to balance management and teams together...You must be a a great cricketer as well.

SD,
True we need to address our concerns at the AGM and vote on chencges to any rule. ....
The problem we have is at the AGM's most of the time is spent on things like do we want to play 45 or 40 overs...1hr wasted.. put it on vote.. majority wins..end of issue..
Wasted time on how we should give break to teams with too many rain out games....
Too much time spent on who should play 30/30 ... ridiculous..
Too little time spent on chenges to excite and improve this league..
No time spent on modifying or changes of any of the rules/bylaws that is affecting progress and growth.
That is why MGT said in the last AGM we elected them and they will make the rules whether we like it or not.
We need to make sure that in our constitution that no law/bylaws of MCC is valid unless approved by majority members?. MGT should never be given the power to supercede the laws & constitution by memos as we have seen lately.
I asked a director of MGG at the last AGM that we need to for a players Association and today. His answer was no we don't need that but we can do better if we work with MGT...Yeah ..Right.
And no i have not heard anything on my suspension yet.
