Congratulations to Muslim Gymkhana and Advancers!!

We have two new Champions today. Muslim Gymkhana lifted the Division 1 Championship by defeating Purdue University while Advancers completed a superb season with a thrilling 12 run win over a fighting IIT to claim the Division 2 Championship. Both IIT and Purdue can be proud today. They played hard and fair, but it was not their day. Both matches were at Washington Park and what a terrific atmosphere we had!. We should congratulate and thank the folks that made all the arrangements at the ground today. There was a large tent ( very important on a hot and fairly humid day), chairs, food, beverages and an impressive turnout. Hats off to all the volunteers!! We got one more final tomorrow and that should bring down the curtain on this 2007 season. We may have to put the whites and the kit away for a few months, but Shekhs tells me that blogging can keep one warm -- you got to listen to the sage -- Lets keep it blogging, folks.

Hari-
It was indeed a good day, both Div-1 and Div-2 finals, we could find most of our active bloggers at the games, and i could meet you and Ram from Eagles there.
It was fun for most part as we Bloggers were having a ball watching the game and gulping down a few....
All in all i am in for the off season blogging even if it does not match the frequency of regular season...
Well done Muslim and Advancers for your wins... and see you in the next season..

Congrats to Muslim Gym and Advancers on their victories in Div I an Div II respectively.

It was a heartbreaking loss for us(Purdue) but it was nice to see many familiar faces that had come to watch the two finals.

Yep, the saturday was full of fun and was good to see a lot of familiar faces.

Madew,
I'm with you on the blogger's ball thingy...I'm not really ready to hang up my boots either..

Anybody else up for it?

Saurabh said...

Madhu,
It was low scoring match.Advancers defended 152 against IIT and won by 12 runs.Main contributer from Advancers for batting were Satish,Sandeep,Syed,Pawan and Sridhar.

IIT started well but soon Vasudev got out.Advancers introduced Syed Kadry in 5 overs itself and it paid off when Syed got Laxmi. Then spin trio of Pawan , Syed and Shakir kept on gettting wickets at regular intervals.Atlast IIT feel short of 12 runs.
Advancers defended 152 runs very well.

Madew said...

Nice Agam..Spin did us (PCC) in..against them..in Semi...:) IIT did make a tactical change..when they played us in Mossville...It did pay them dividends...I think, looking back, we weren't mentally prepared to face so many spinners..and Laxmi started his slow teasers from 8th over itself..we got overwhelmed as time progressed with Suburito, Chakri, Ajay (another teasing bowler) bowling in tandem:) Its needs lots of patience and element of luck...We didn't have both on that eventful day..with injuries hitting us..it was just bad day for as a whole..:) THey bowled pretty well and had smart fielding placements set too...Its hard score..and it appears..you guys were in the same situation but..you guys paid them back in the same dosage..of spin bowling...Very nice match..! :) Congrats to you guys..! IIT is great team..It was a heart rending loss for them once again this time in finals.....Wishing IIT the best..! Now we know what to expect against you guys...:)

Cheers

Guys, I agree... lets do a "blogger ball" match. I'm up for it.

For the Advancers vs IIT game, not only did Syed bowl well (awesome arm ball), but he probably took the best catch of the season. An absolute stunner of the in-form Ajay Gandhi at forward short leg before that batsman had even finished his shot! IIT still had a chance as one of their batsman was playing very sensibly, but a rush of blood and once he was gone, it was going to be very tough. What a game!!!

It's Friday ... and the blogging day ...

Shekhs must have left for India .. Looks like this is the time when everybody visits India .. 2 players from my team too planning to fly to India in November ...

Rup said...

Lets see who is going to come up with the best topic to converse on today.
Shekhs in India??. Lucky him. he will get to watch some exciting cricket in the current series Pak VS India.

Alpesh said...

Okie .. here is the topic ..

Will Australia be able to maintain their supremacy in test also ?? Now they have a relatively young bowling force ...

Rup said...

Australia will be depending a lot on their batting to carry them until their boling attack is back to full strength.
With this said they are still a forindable team to beat. Still too many good players on this team.
I say we will be better able to judge them by the end of this year or mid next year.
Look at most of the good teams past history. once they start loosing the start messing with the selection and then players are in and out so much, no time for form.
The next two years will prove how good the Australian Farm system is in groom it's players for the untimate level

hari said...

On Dish now there is a pay channel called Zee Sports that shows almost all of the International/Domestic games live...I think it is ~ $ 20/month....I watched the Pak/SA 5th ODI the other day...had my laptop on all the time and got a fair amount of work done...Pak should have won that game...just insane batting ( i love Afridi...but the shot he played was criminal) and some unbelievable catches turned the game square..

Alpesh said...

Just read this small article - http://blogs.cricinfo.com/btw/archives/2007/11/man_shot_oppone.php

I hope never such incident happens in our league ...

So where r u guys ??

Rup said...

Yep,
It's a crazy cricketing world right now.
Stayed up watching India batting then watched most of the ICL game and been at work buzzy like hell..
Burning eyes..
That ICL stuff may end up being pretty good. This alone may worth the $20.00 p/m to get ZEESA Sports chanel on dish Network
Where are the rest of the MWCC bloggers
