It went something like this.

I faced the first ball and took a single. Athreya faced the next few balls and scored 35 runs. There were 3 no-balls and 1 wide. Each no ball went for either a six or four. So, in total, he faced 8 balls (3 no-balls) and scored 3 6s, 2 4s, and 3 2s. I think I've missed one run in there somewhere, but it was good clean hitting on both the off and leg side!

Varad,

The Rockers are a good bunch of guys. There was plenty of trash talking on the field, quite a few stares from the bowlers, etc. But they were sporting, played hard, and were really nice off the field. So I personally enjoyed it, because it made it a little more competitive in the beginning and so more fun!

There were a couple of juicy comments I particularly enjoyed, but the most entertaining was the way the bowlers' follow throughs kept getting shorter and shorter as the batsmen "introduced" themselves. Initially the follow throughs ended by the batsman's face, and a few overs later they eneded near the non-strikers!! :-)

straight_drive said...

adi, those bowlers follow thrus might end up by the umpires by the time chall and pak are done w them hehe.

sorry Rup! definitely next time..

And Ruchir will still leave sometime soon, and IMHO Purdue will miss him a lot, he has really turned into a genuine quality allrounder this year.

Although Purdue are more like the Wildcats (in a sense they don't heavily rely on one person), I really don't think they have a shot at a championship without Ruchir.
----------------------------

definitely. he is one of their back bone players. from what i have seen, Purdue got few very good player and they are supported by the rest very well.

Just food for thought. Nothing personal against QC Kings and PCC. Both are great teams on there own grounds ;-)
------------------------------
I am a big fan of peoria cricket Club. They can win games on any ground and they have proved it. I think QC Kings is the one who needs to prove that they can win away games. Last year I heard they lost everything and so is the case against Eagles this year.

Thanks
Pranav

Unknown said...

Yeah, I'm not surprised. My runup would get shorter too. By the looks of the scorecard, it seems Rockers would have fancied bundling you guys out quickly (ofcourse theres a ton of talent which didn't even bat)...

It seems you and Athreya "introduced" yourselves right about when a side would seems confident. After getting a few cheap wickets :)

Horizon & Pak, Horizon & Challengers are two games which would be very interesting. Just because your team draws from talents of a bunch of teams ...

Wish Arsenal had been in that pool though. That's some line to play against. Would have been a great cricketing experience. Bu, weve got the Cats, United & Anjuman to keep us busy...

Best of luck ...

Pranav, Against Eagles, QC Kings lost at home...which happens to be the only victory for us so far :)

Which teams are good at chasing targets in our league?

Unknown said...

HELLO

Devils_advocate said...

WildCats are the best chasers they proved it year in year out MCC finals Chased down 300+ score under pressure was THE best!

Unknown said...

Amazing how people jump on the bandwagon when a team does really well. I am talking about Rockers vs Horizon game. A bowler has a bad day and he is decimated not only by the bat but more by a bandwagoner.

Its a pity to see such lowballers on this blog specially the ones who were not related to the game. If a bat scores 40 runs in an over its worth mentioning but butchering the bowlers is very uncalled for.

I have played for the Rockers for the past 3 seasons and I know my team inside out. Most of the posts seem to be out of ennui or detestation for the Rockers. Knowing our spirits I am sure our bowlers will come back and fight hard as we have always done in the past.

Anonymous said...

mitral,

Please!!!!
Don't act like an overly sensitive woman. Considering the type of shit 'we bloggers' give to players and teams who have bad games, I thought your bowler got away unharmed. No one even named the guy.

Please read some of the recent comments against Raheel and Nasir, or check some of last seasons blogs when 'we bloggers' ridiculed the Challengers after their defeat to Phoenix.

THATS CALLED BUTCHERING!

Mitral,

Man you're really reading blogs which don't exist:

'A bowler has a bad day and he is decimated not only by the bat but more by a bandwagoner'

'I know my team inside out. Most of the posts seem to be out of ennui or detestation for the Rockers'

As usual aboslutely unrelated and silly stuff from you. Should grow up man. Nobody's been beating down the Rockers, in fact its bunch of real good kids... 40 runs an over is worth a checkle I guess (whoever the bowler was, don't still know by the way). I think it would be worth a chuckle if I ever happened to bowl and got hit too.

The whole bandwagoner thing is ridiculous and I will not say any more than look around you, at yourself and your own surroundings. With relevance to cricket, figure out why you play the game and what you want from the time you invest in it.

As always, wish you all the best.

Yeah, I just noticed ...

Not that it matters really, but he's a great guy and a good captain.

Also has real good hand eye co-ordination as Romeen had mentioned earlier.

Don't know if he is playing occasionally for Phoenix as was mentioned sometime ago on this blog.

Obviously, it wasn't his night with the bowl. Personally think he's a way better bat than a bowler. As a sloooow medium bowler at Hanover Park, you aren't going to get much help. Ball sits up even if youre medium.

look into your soul said...

addy would plz tell us your 18 players roster.

ok, so who would have sent this last bit out, TA himself????? I still cannot stop laughing

VP,
Who else but TA himself. Can you think of anyone from MWCC who will write such kind words about our President??.
The man is like a piece of stink cheese manufacutred in WI. The can't sell it in WI but other states..in his case he sells himself as good only to LA open.
As for ADDI,
Why does he keep reminding us of the LA open as if we would not look this up anyway. This guy is more self promoter than TA so we got two piece of stink chese going up to LA open.
They may need SWAT team on stand by by time these two are done at LA open!!!!!

SimonDispatch said...

phoenix is still trying to find its rhythm this season

neanderthal_walking said...

by the time they find the rhythm, it will be time for next season

Anonymous said...

Phoenix had shitty bowlers to begin with. Now they've lost Jaggi for a few weeks.

They have already lost four games, with two washouts. Which means they'll have to win 5 of their last 6 games to advance (assuming a team with 32 points advances)

Yeah right! With games against Milwaukee United, Muslim Gymkhana, St.Louis and Wildcats, thats never going to happen.

straight_drive said...

tango is that a pic of you, bush, ta, addy?lol

Please!

That monkey looks better than either of the guys you mentioned (myself included)

BTW, Muslim Gymkhana has an absolutely bezzerk schedule!

Their next six games are:

Purdue, Challengers, St.Louis, Wildcats, Milwaukee CC and Pak Gymkhana (rescheduled)

taking a break this week for la is really stupid. the entire league comes to a halt 'cos 15 players are missing???? TTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Devils_advocate said...

what ever it is all understand there are issues. But this is the time we need to get behind our own MWCC boys and send them with best wishes to do well. I mean MWCC is playing against Aussies all stars and Punjab Blues and even Venture XI have got international guys on their teams. Last year they did well despite of all the odds made to the second round. I am sure goal again is to make to the second round to the knock out stage and take it one game at a time. This MWCC team is reprenting us and only 11 players can play on a team at one time. Its very good that there so many talented players in MWCC who can qualify to play. Unfortunately, team is selected by management who were, don't forgot 'we elected'. Lot of other would have made to the cut or what ever but this is the team that is announced for what ever reason. 20/20 is a batsmen game and no matter which bowler bowls or balls (According to Varad:) will get whacked or should say word of the day "Butchered'. I mean MWCC has Satha, Shahid, and Nilesh who have done fantastically well in our league and especially Shahid and Nilesh who are pick of the players last year for their all round abilities at LA open. If Satha, Sahid gets to their 'Butchering' best its a different story. We are underdogs no matter what we think and either we get written off (Bloggers expectations) or its a chance to 'rewrite history' only time will tell. Until then atleast lets wish em the best and give the encouragement and leave all the 'butchering' after score cards are out:) Let all say 'GO MWCC' one time ask them to make us proud and while they are at it request them to 'rewrite history'. Lets hope for the best!

We lost my holday week end off cause of this S**T.
They could have just given those teams off whose players were selected..10 teams I think. Afterall the know who they were going to select no matter what anyone else or the season stats say.
Or was TA & SA expecting us to go as cheer-lads like ADDI is trying to do??

MCC and United have at least two very good bowlers. Purdue and Wildcats have multiple good bowlers. Phoneix only has one good bowler, Priyank, and as good as Priyank is, he's no Asif or Mehul.

neanderthal_walking said...

for sure. muslim in great shape. i think they can rattle purdue if they bat first

DeepDownWithin said...

bears are crumbling. i feel bad for them. muslim is strong now, like tango said they have tough schedule, but should be good for them as a team if they get 4/5 wins.

cricketer411 said...

well muslim still has a long way to go. But if the 3 brothers and new addition of faisal, arif, afforze with there current talent not only becomes of the youngest side but also most talented.

Anonymous said...

Even if Muslim split their next six games (3-3), they'll be in good shape to make it to the playoffs.

neanderthal_walking said...

well muslim with 3 win in 5 games. if they can get 4/9 they might be through. they gotta beat phoenix though.

neanderthal_walking said...

which is most difficult away game? STL, MCC or PURDUE ?

The way those teams are playing, its hard to pick out one. But I'd say Purdue will the easiest since their ground is similar to Washington Park.
