This is a soft league: sledging not permitted. We are all nice people with good tradition,it seems.
"who is god" did you answer to the letters to god he writes daily. Imagine a so called break-dancer looking for the rib cage of a soft Englishman, then saying sorry afterwards.
Pardon my intentions; all I see everyday is pak, flames, reports on some drunk, tango mango. Change the boring subject for a while...lets talk sledging.
Wake up the other doctors (dr b..the idiot and my other impersonator...Dr B...the dummy version of the real one). Come out take the heat. It will be hotter in Canada for Caribana. Have a fun weekend.
tango why we always finger point farhat u know 4 the fact that in our league there are lot of people nastier than farhat but nobody finger point them for e.g. Tariq Usmani is one of that name.
Yes, will be at WP this Sunday.... Am umping a game.
With regards to sledging, Shekhs said it all for me. I am all for sledging the right way within limits. With respect to foul language: well, you know me :)..am one of the most potty mouthed guys around and will be the first to own up to that infamy. However, I try and limit that foul language to my guys or the guys I am friends with! :).
In the past, I have directed foul language towards an opposition player but they went off first! Not too happy about that but.....
I feel abusing opposition players with foul language just to get under their skin has no place in our games. That is not sledging.
dont know about sledging but as far as funny comments from outside the ropes go, some royals players (Shetul), some players with a booming voice (shiraz) come to mind.
Mehul talks a lot ? hhmm ...maybe 'cause he's a Shanna...i mean a Shani :)
Shekhs/Romeen: Was thinking of going to the Lallapaloozaa (?spelling) morrow; thinking being the operative word here as I also need to rip up the deck !
What's the word on happy hour this evening, guys ?
predications 4 week# 14 in div 1. 1.Capitol-Royals.( royals for sure vipul will score big in this game). 2.Phoenix-Bears.( phoenix in this one aditya if u think u r a playoff team u dont have to worry about this game just go & do ur best). 3.St.louis- Muslim.( i think muslim got a chance in this one bcuz kutis can be rusty after a long break). 4.Flamed-Chargers.(u know what i take chargers in this one syed bros. will do something good in this game). 5.Wildcats-Challengers.(i take wildcats naren is goin to be a man again). 6.Mucc-AAA.(MUCC will win this one Adam is like tendulkar making 100 but can't finish the game). 7.Mcc-Pak gym.( pak is goin to win easily). 8.Purdue-Chargers.(purdue for sure).
"I've very rarely seen Shahid sledge" I guess you havent seen it then. Some of the players from PK gym are worst at it. Also, Milwaukee Cricket club has some really bad sledgers
mehul do talks a lot same as krishna & rashid and arshad yusuf shiraz, shetul from royals daxx from challengers and i almost forgot about azam and tehsin.(not fouled mouth but talks a lot).
Shakir from Mcc and Ashwin from purdue and parsad from mucc so i think every team has one so dont give farhat more publicity that guy do need attention.
Some of the players from PK gym are worst at it. Also, Milwaukee Cricket club has some really bad sledgers
I wasn't commenting on the teams, just the players. Agreed, MCC have some really foul-mouthed cricketers, but Asif is not one of them. In fact, he's one of the most sporting cricketers in the league.
Thanks for clarifying everything buddy. You have our teams' utmost respect.
Moving to your point of sledging - I think its a part of the game as long as its done within limits. Disrespecting the others should NOT be allowed but mind games are always welcome. Makes the game fun!
I remember sledging on you a couple years back when I was batting and stole a couple singles from your fielding position. You then ran me out a few balls later with a direct hit. Like I said, makes the game fun!!
See that is a problem with this Sledging. There is no good way or bad way. What is acceptable by you may be considered offensive by other.
Sleding will be a non factor if the umpires in this league take control of the game, like I have seen your Shiraz do. Unfortunately same cannot be said for other Umpires who are basically there to collect there $60.
Oh yes I said it. 75% umpires suck and have no clue of the rules nor there is a proper implementation of these standardize rules. Each one comes and makes up there own shit.

There are a few umpires who control the game very well. I have come across two this season. One is Harish Kanchi and the other Owen Grey. I was impressed with both. Inspite of Owen giving me out CBW. Swetal, I am planning on watching BU too. Heard good reviews about it already. Sledging is fun as long as everybody knows where to draw the line. And I really hope those who sledge make it a point to have a chat with the opposition after the game so that hard feelings dont linger. So few teams shake hands after the game these days.
GG went to India. He is back though. We might get a walkover this week. Sucks. As it is our season is tiny. Add rain to it and then some walkovers for good measure. And you will have a blasted cricketing year. Nice last game but lost it by 7 runs. Subbu's runout was unfortunate.
yeah most of your games been very close so far. Good to see GG back in action. There's not much we can do for rained out games (at least we get to be on the ground & have some miller time :)), but walkover always sucks.
-------- Romeen said... We have made an appeal (which is totally within our right) and are waiting for the decision. If we are asked to split the points, we'll happily accept it. I hope you understand. Thanks ---------
Sounds fair enough - when the decision comes down, the result (and consequent points) go on to the board. Its just that the game was a long time ago, so there really should be a decision already.
But at least the above (waiting on an appeal) is a valid excuse - lots of results dont go up when there arent even appeals (at least, not appeals we've heard of!)
I just noticed, for example, that Chicago Giants are actually 7-4, but are listed at 7-3 in the table (their contentious loss against CCI isnt up yet). Unless there's an appeal, this shouldnt be the case - the game has been over for 2-3 weeks already. Similarly CCI - they are 5-4, but listed at 5-3 in the table (the above game *is* counted for them already, but a different game isnt!) This makes a difference to the mindset of other teams battling for playoffs, probably.
The most glaring, of course, is the Evanston-Jolly-Rovers situation. They played each other a few weeks ago... and Jolly Rovers is claiming 4 points for the win, while Evanston is claiming 2 points for a tie! And both have already claimed those points on the table! Surely there are not 6 points available from any one game! Thus currently Evanston is in 10th place (in playoff position) at 6-3-1 (26 points), while Jolly Rovers are in 13th place (just out of playoffs) at 6-4 (one walkover) and 24 points.
Obviously, this last has a *huge* impact on the rest of the league... 12 teams make the playoffs, and at the moment there are 13 teams with 24 points or more. If Evanston doesnt get 2 points from the above game, they drop into 11th position. If Jolly Rovers gets 2 instead of 4, the next 3 teams behind them are only 2 points behind and very much alive.
Is there even an appeal in the works here? If there is, neither team should be claiming any points at the moment IMHO - they have to wait until the result of the appeal comes in. And surely the result of the appeal hasnt come in yet (because I dont believe the result of the appeal would be to have 6 points from this one game, instead of 4).

Oh, and even when one isnt right there, news travels very fast in our league :-) For eg, I havent been to Peoria in a few weeks, but I still know that Maninder Bola has moved away from Peoria for job reasons and so isnt playing all games anymore... but he will return for important games and playoffs (and is returning for the big IIT game this weekend). See? Info on anyone isnt hard to gather in this league - about decent players, it usually spreads like wildfire (even without a blog :-)

oops ... wrong site. I thought I was on Craiglist.
Asmar,
Is there a manual on the Right Way To Sledge?
Dont think there is a manual, just an educated judgement call I guess.
