Phoenix isn't too bad a catching team. But we have our good days and bad days. Amish took one of the best catches I have seen against you guys.
But, based on fielding, I would have to say that the Royal's are probably the best. Thanks for the vote of confidence.
By the way, noone has counted out Pak, Challengers, etc. But in my opinion, favs are cats, and the dark horse is United. In between are Pak, Challengers, St Louis, Milw CC.
i have played against royals once, and have heard they are pretty solid fielding side. AAA don't know much about them. Even old MUCC was pretty good fielding side.
================================== welcome back adnan... we have been missing you here. ============================ Does that mean we are friends and you will vote for me next year? :)
Do you have a chance to make MCC XI? If not, like budhau said, pay for your ticket and u r in. We are awaiting responses from couple of guys who we want to take. They are awaiting response from mngmnt. Let me know if you are interested.
Romeen, I think we are, but I dont know when..Nilesh makes the call. I was going to ask you if you were planning on practising tomorrow....mind if I join?
Shekhs, you are welcome to practice with us anytime. About tomorrow, we still dont know if we can do it, there might be a baseball game there. I'll let you know when we find out.

sheks, am with thou with regards to GG. I was watching some stupid show on the stupid telly...don't ask me why....anyway, they were talking about how Grey Goose was overrated and more of a marketing hype. They had 10 folks blind folded and gave them Vodka from diff brands. GG ended up being the least desired :)
Adi: Thanks for picking us as a Dark Horse for Div II and now can you come bat for us ! As of now, I feel like Jim Mora (ex-head coach of the Indy. Colts) must have felt when he went off: "Playoffs!! What playoffs!". That was the year he got canned.
Regardless, based on our performance (lack there off) and based on a very tough schedule coming up, we might not make it to the playoffs if we don't fix our execution issues....
================================ if I promise i would vote for you next year, would you not beat me up in a case someone blow up my cover? ================================= I already know who you are.
My bad! As you can see, one off-hand comment, and these guys go nuts... er.... crazy!!!
Mehul, I don't think there is a chance in hell I would get picked for the MCC 11, so I'm not holding my breath at all. I was just kidding with you guys, but if you guys are seriuos, give me some details, and let me know honestly where you think I'd fit in. I'd definitely be interested.
I might have spent one or two years in Mumbai, so there is a good chance that I'm not a Mumbaikar.
Also, as you very well know, most people living n Mumbai are 'pentalingual' (is that a word?), ie. speak English, Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and Bambiya!
So I might not be Gujju.
I might be Bengali. 'Tango' sounds like a Bengali name, like Subrato, Rituporno, Ghosto, Subarno etc.
--------------------------------- I only want to take 2 slow blowers and I got those 2. YES I would love to get him the my 12-13 man team for sure --------------------------------
i guess going by the same logic, samarth might not be in dd's 11 given asif's selection.
I agree with sharath, sanjay's playing like a dream. He should be in the team. Anyways, we always select these teams but nothing ever comes out of it. Are we really gonna have a game?
That Dosti bar....well sounds to gay for me man....sorry, Jaggi. We could still give it a shot or just go to the Alumni Club instead (on Algonquin road in Schaumburg) this Friday?
i only meant to say that just like sanjay camnot make it to the XI, so does samarth on the SAME grounds....no offence meant dude...your selection makes sense.
After I got your reply, I was looking into the league website for statistics of Hari Kiran of QC Kings. I found their website from that page and looks like their captain is someone named Pankaj Lamande.
Tango, here's a theory. I think you are a professional blogger. You just enter different blogs and make funny comments. You are a phantom, the-ghost-who-blogs, a legend, well, maybe I got carried away a little there.....:)

Romeen, You pick a day next week, we'll get Swet and I'm sure there will be more. Rup's definite, so is Tushar... You guys can go ahead and meet on friday..I can't make it..Wife's on call...so gotta be home. Maybe you can come to my place......after party.. :-)
--------- Romeen said... c8w, where are you? I hope you are not mad at my 'only cheap' shot on the blog (as tango pointed out). --------
Present! Damn the blog was active today! And I didnt even realize it was supposed to be a cheap shot until tango/you mentioned it later - maybe my skin has just gotten too thick from years of internet newsgroup wars (and umpiring :-)
For the record, the "90 over allstar game" idea was first actually seriously mentioned to me like 2 years ago, by the much-lamented Gautam Khera (I still cant believe he isnt playing on some team in Div1). That, we oughta get the best players in the league together once every year on a longweekend, and play a 2-day game, no limited overs, nothing - just play a "real" game of cricket, where batsmen can actually bat properly, bowlers can bowl long spells (not just stupidly restricted, where your best bowler can only bowl as much as your worst bowler), no silly artifical field restrictions, and so on. I personally thought it was a sensationally good idea (though I was sure nobody else would think so :-) And yes, if you cant find any other umpire for it, I'll gladly umpire it for 2 days if neccessary if you guys are willing to play for 2 days :-)
Anyway. I dont think we actually have an allstar game this year, do we? We were just supposed to have a "world cup" on one of the long weekends, but I dunno which weekend that would be. (I still think maybe the best way would have been to do it July 4th weekend, with "MCC offical allstar team" as one side, then India-Div1, Pak-Div1, Pak-Div2, India-Div2, and a combined "islands" team...in 20/20 format. LA-team gets excellent 20/20 practice, one or two ignored players who do unbelievably well might get onto the plane for LA Open the next weekend too etc. But its probably too late for all that now.
I just wanted to post this note so that NO one is confused as SKEKHS!!! I am not D D.. I have always posted all the comments under my name. Also wanted to let you all know that if I need to say something I will not need any "Nicks" or "Alias".
Shekhs, What's up with Daks this season? He's on fire man!! 7-14 is freaking awesome. And to get Satha caught behind, I'm guessing off an out-swinger, must mean it was a peach of a delivery. Care to elaborate? I notice Nilesh and Bhavesh are up there too, which doesn't surprise me.
Aditya, Dax definitely is on a roll this season, and since I field @ mid on or mid off, I get to see the deliveries. The game against Capitol, I saw it all, he was swinging the ball close to a foot, and I'm not kidding. He was definitely getting help from the Wind God, but the important thing was that he was pitching it on the right places.
His last delivery of the previous over that Satha got out to, Satha pulled him for a 4. It was a short ball and deserved to be hit. But then the first ball of his next over, he set him up well.
He said, "Shekhs stay back a few steps, I'm gonna ball fuller" He did and made satha to drive (he loves to drive) on an out swinger that moved a lot and induced the edge. Mahesh did the rest.
I think Dax is balling smart, and he is definitely one of the most deceptive bowlers I have seen.
Yeah, Nilesh is Nilesh, there is no other explanation. We call him Ravan!! Same goes with Bhavesh. I think what most people dont realize is that we did get a little better in our fielding department. Rupesh has taken some brilliant catches already and that changes the momentum of the game. Bhavesh gets more wickets with the extra effort in our catches.
We just need our batting to click. If we can bat 45 overs, I think with our bowling and fielding, it will be very hard to beat us.
Rup said, Adnan, Can you let us know what and how the petition you all filed that got you a spot to send a team to the LA open. I will like to see if i can get in a team as I checking sponsors out?. From the looks of your team looks like MWCC was not used on your Bid?. ============================= Adnan, still waiting on some help for the above. What is your team name for the LA open as i was looking up the LA open page and saw only one midwest team?.
It's all good, I will not be able to do the Blog outing this week.. many be next time. I am playing this SAT Phoenix at WP 3.. and you guys are playing WP 4 so we will have few drinks there.
You are right. If you guys get your batting sorted out, which isn't too shabby might I add, you will win 9 out of 10 games with no problem. If anything, that is your weak link, but it ain't that weak. I draw parallels between y'all and South Africa.
I like the Wildcats this year because they play smart cricket and are really consistent. It doesn't matter if they are playing at MCC, or at St Louis, or Hannover Park, they play consistent cricket. They can set scores, they can chase. In that fashion, they are somewhat like the Aussie's this year. You need a suplerlative performance from an opposing bowler or batsman to beat them these days!
Pak Gym is obviously damn good, but I feel it is possible to outplay them sometimes without having to resort to the big 4s and 6s that they are capable of. I draw parallels to them and Pakistan (no pun intended) of yester-year (not the current team). Their talent is so explosive, they are capable of beating any and all teams in the league, but it can also let them down against the more clinical teams.
And finally, I feel like United is somewhat like New Zealand. They have a lot of utility players who are good in their own right. And of course Mehul (their Chris Cairns), who is arguably the best all-rounder in the league. You can never count them out; they are always going to scrap and fight, and the only way to beat them is to be mentally stronger on the day.
Maybe St Louis is like India. Extremely tough at home, strong batting line up, which protects a bowling lineup that isn't as strong. But the bowling lineup is still capapble of performing on a given day. But bring them to some alien conditions, and other teams start licking their chops! Still, always a threat.
I guess that leaves Milw CC as Srilanka. They have some really good players, and the MCC version of Muralitharan - Asif! They like to revolve their bowling attack around him, and why not! And they have the ability to put up runs with some explosive batting. But how will that batting perform in Chicago is the question?
I'm sure there will be a lot of feedback on this can of works I've just opened! Thoughts anyone?
out of 7 games STL has played they have got 5 of their opposition all out out within 45 overs. 4 of them below 200 and out of these 4, 2 teams were bowled out below 100.
Now hopefully that does say something about the bowling line up.
Rup, I have all the contact info for the event organizer Polam Veman Reddy who was a teammate of mine when I played SCCA. I used this relationship to contact him and requested to enter a team. Of course our team is new to this event and therefore knowing the preference will be given to those who have previously attended, we started the initiative in December of 2006 to assure a slot. The teams posted on www.laopen2020.com are from 2006. They have not updated the web page with '07 teams. We entered as 'Chicago United' and yes we avoided picking top players from MWCC due to the obvious reason. Below is the contact info for Polam Reddy the founder of L.A. Open tournament. LA Open c/o. Veman Reddy 3525 So. Oak Valley Place Diamond Bar, CA 91765 5627768888 (Home) 9517431153 (Mobile)
Hope this helps. If you need further info you can contact me @ 630.258.3278. Good luck!
I agree with you. However, you'll notice I said the following:
================================== Maybe St Louis is like India. Extremely tough at home, strong batting line up, which protects a bowling lineup that isn't as strong. But the bowling lineup is still capapble of performing on a given day. But bring them to some alien conditions, and other teams start licking their chops! Still, always a threat. ================================== Firstly, I used maybe in your comparison. You guys are the closest I could get to an India comparison, but not quite. I had to temper my comments on your bowling by saying "not as strong" instead of "weak". And I did add the bowling lineup "is capable of performing on any given day", which as you right pointed out, you have performed on 5 such days so far! The comment about alien conditions (how alien are they really?) is more to do with what I've read on the blogs as opposed to anythig else.
I was grasping for my India parallel, and you guys were the closest. Everyone here is well aware of how your bowling lineup has performed recently (Pak under 100 - unheard of!), as well as knowing that you personally have been a big part of it.
Maybe you could suggest an international team to draw the parallel to?
I'm always glad to have people point out inaccuracies. And feel free to question my opinion. That's what the blog is for.
I just want to bring out opinions and hear what others have to say. I'm sure there are others who will have a lot more to say, in a slightly different tone! ;-)
At present, I believe the top bolwing lineups are Wildcats, Milw CC, and of course the Challengers!
St Louis is pretty close up there as well, but I haven't seen them this season personally to comment. But their record does speak for themselves!
I personally don't rate Pak as highly so far this year (i'm sure they'll pick it up soon). United is defintely up there. Purdue is close too, but I'm not so sure I'd rank them in the top 3 so far this season.
Of course, things change and so might my personal opinion towards the end of the season.
Ajoy, A lot of people don't pick St Louis to win it all cause they find it difficult to win in Chicago. Every year the make the play offs and lose early with a few exceptions in my 14 years knowing the team. St louis has always known to make some runs but the gave us a lot too. Currently your top bowlers are avg 5.36 RPO. Add 1 to that on the Chicago.Hanover park wickets = 6.36. How many good teams can you beat at that RPO???
CATS are doing well but challengers got it all. swing (DAX), face (sanjay) acuuracy (nilesh) and a good spin combination. and darshan and tushar is there to back up.
I definitely rank Purdue as a good bowling unit, don't get me wrong. But top 3... not as yet! Maybe as the season progresses. Ruchir is the fastest bowler in our league, and they definitely have some other really good options too.
Challengers, no arguments from me in some regards. Dax, gotta give him the respect. Nilesh... always. Sanjay, he's pretty good too. I don't consider him that pacy, he's no slouch with the ball. I can't recall Tushar, but I'm not sold on Darshan or Bhavesh. Not that they aren't good, but I'm not convinced that they can run through the Cats, Pak Gym, St Louis, or United. But as a unit, they're definitely in my top 3.
For your ready reference here are some stats for this season.
2 of STL bowlers are in top 5 in 2007 in Div1.
The top three bowlers from STL average below 5 RPO. It is 3.55, 4.18 and 4.39 respectively. The numbers of wickets between them is 33 in 98.4 overs and have given away 385 runs with a strike rate of a wicket per 11.66 runs.

You three avg 5.3 games that = 54 wickets. you got 33 who gets the other 21. The reason why you bowling is not taken strngly right now is take Tehsin out and everything looks ordinary.
We have a part-time player in our team NoStars - Chandra ... This year he has not played a single game ... But he played 3 games for us last year ...
He is an off-spinner and he opened the bowling in 2 of those games ... and even then his economy was less than 3 RPO ... plus he picked up couple of wickets ...
I am sure, if plays more games he can easily be one of the best offies in this league ..
Also, I'd like to point out, there are some "spinners" in our league, who definitely chuck the ball. Some chuck every ball. Others only chuck their faster one or a specific kind of delivery. Based on that, and it is quite clear, I don't consider them in the best bowlers category.
Would anyone say that Tehsin is the best off-spinner in Div 1? I would have suggested Shiva, but he hasn't hit his usual form so far. But when he's bowling well, he's definitely right up there!
I would draw parallels between Phoenix the pre-world cup Pakistan team. Our batting is pretty decent, but definitely revolves around the middle order. Without Priyank (Mhd Asif), our bowling looks weak, but somehow we find a way to manage (Chargers game).
The main thing is that we are an inconsistent team that hasn't played to our potential. We gave the Challengers a run for their money (nearly chased 250), faltered against the Flames (and this Flames team is a little weaker than they have been in years past), struggled to beat the chargers (when we didn't have to chase a big score), played like a really good team against United (who are a top team themselves).
So, which Phoenix shows up to play on the match day is the big question! And I feel the same was felt about the recent pakistan team. Is it the one that played against ireland in the world cup or the one that beat Sri Lank in Abu Dhabi? Everyone knows, Pakistan, if consistent, would be one of the top 3 teams in the world.
Also, I'd like to point out, there are some "spinners" in our league, who definitely chuck the ball. Some chuck every ball. Others only chuck their faster one or a specific kind of delivery. Based on that, and it is quite clear, I don't consider them in the best bowlers category. ---------------------------------------------------
Even Murali chucks. He's still considered to be the best off-spinner in the world.
As long as the 'chuckers' in our league are allowed to play, and as long as they put up good numbers and help their team win, I've got no problem putting them in the 'best bowlers category'.
And Aditya, I don't think we have an 'Australia' in our league. Wildcats are good, but they are definitely beatable. Hell, they lost in the QF's last year. The Aussie's on the other hand, are like machines.
Maybe the Wildcats are like the out-of-form Australian side (which is a pretty generous comparison in itself)
Murali doesn't chuck, or so says the ICC. He has been "cleared" because he has a unique wrist!!! Don't blame me, that's the official line.
But there are definitely a few folks in our league who don't have a "unique wrist" and who chuck the ball. Rumour has it that some even had a problem bowling at the LA Open because of "Chucking".
Just because our league doesn't enforce the rules properly doesn't mean that it isn't against the rules. If Barry Bonds is convicted of taking steroid, is he really the greatest hitter in baseball of our generation?? Similarly, the "chuckers" may have a good record, but it shouldn't count for much because they aren't playing the game correctly.
Tango, also, I don't compare the 'cats to australia because of their dominance. I compare them to Australia because of the way they play. Of all the teams in Division 1, they are probably closest in that aspect to the Aussies - at least this year.
Oh, I can prove it. They straighten their elbows by more than the legally permissible 15 degrees which means it is clearly visible.
But the league will do nothing about it, so umpires don't call "chucking"! But that doesn't make it right. You can give them all the kudos you wish to, but I'm not going to.
In this case, the saying should be "Proven guilty, but innocent until action is taken"!
There are 5 that come to mind in Div 1, all but one spin bowlers. Do you know who they are? Can you think of any others?
"I like the Wildcats this year because they play smart cricket and are really consistent. It doesn't matter if they are playing at MCC, or at St Louis, or Hannover Park, they play consistent cricket. Smart cricket? Australians play dominant cricket, smart is hardly the word you can use.
Superlative performance from an opposing player? If Pak Gymkhana, Challengers play their regular game, they can beat the Wildcats. In fact, the Wildcats needed a superlative performance from Sanjay to beat Pak Gymkhana this year.
ps. Romeen, some motivation for you guys this week :)
In Div 2, Chicago Cricket Club seems to have improved a lot ... Last year was their first year ... And even this year, they are almost playing with the same team ... They have won 3 out of their six games ...
I might have mis-counted. There may be 4 people with a "questionable" action instead of 5. Of which, 1 is a pace bowler, and the others are spinners. The pace bowler only chucks his faster one, not his regular deliveries.
I know we aren't a professional league, and we all play for fun, so it's difficult to do anything about it. But I think we should consider it, so as to help them. One of them in particular, clearly straightens his elbow, but not to bowl faster or anything. He still gives the ball good loop and it is like any normal bowling delivery. Just, his action isn't right! I'd like to see it corrected, rather than to prevent him from bowling, because I like the way he bowls and thinks as a bowler.
14.5. NO BALL: The following shall be declared a No Ball;
14.5.1. Balls above the waist (in full) shall be declared a No Ball especially if the bowler is fast. Umpire to exercise discretion when a slow ball is delivered above the waist level. It shall be declared a No Ball if the batsmen
14.5.2. Bouncers rising above the batsman’s shoulder blade shall be declared a No Ball only if the ball rises above the shoulder at that point where the batsman in his normal playing position would make contact with the ball.
14.5.3. All other rules on No Balls shall apply as applicable under ICC rules
In the ICC rules: If a bowlers bends his arm, the Umpire can call him for a NO Ball.
So technically, the Chucking rule is applicable in MWCC.
But maybe our umpires feel that these guys don't chuck.
I have not been in chicago lately ... but was wondering if any bowler there has a bowling style similar to Malinga (Srilanka) ... the side arm action ...
Here I am playing tennis ball cricket with some guys ... And one guy has that kind of action ... It is really difficult to pick some of the balls initially ...
most of the umpires knows who chucks but can't do anything because our league is not a professional one. basically umpires dont want their ass kicked after the game.
Tango, lets be serious about what will happen if an umpire no-balls a bowler for chucking.
First, the team will create a big fuss saying that he has never been called before. During the fuss, argument, and temper flaring, someone will call Tariq directly to plead their case. Tariq will probably tell the umpire to let the bowler keep bowling and not to no-ball him any more. Finally, the umpire bears the brunt of it. Did I miss anything?
But if you want to know the truth, why don't you ask Sadiq? Ask him his thoughts on Chucking.
You seem to be a pretty reasonable person with some good ideas and in touch with reality. Tell me if you truthfully believe that some of these guys don't chuck? Can you say it with conviction?
Instead of sweeping the problem under the carpet, lets face it, find a solution, and move on.
Adam Menk (left handed) has a slinging action like Malinga. Definitely does not Chuck. Just more round-arm. Also, a very under-rated cricketer, who i have a lot of respect for. Can't think of anyone else.
If Sadiq or any other umpire thinks that Bhavesh and Bakshi 'chuck', and if they still don't call these guys for chucking, then they should be banned from umpiring any games.
================================== ...anyway bhavesh is as good as off spin going to get in our league. i can't recall any other. =============================== Maybe that's why he did not bowl in L.A.
But, isn't that the point? If that is truly what happened to him, wouldn't it be better if someone helped him correct his action, so that he can bowl the next time he goes? Instead of writing him off for the next LA open because of the mindset that he will not be allowed to bowl. Whether it happened or not (and I truly don't know), isn't my point valid though? I know I may be preaching to the choir, but we as colleagues should help each other even if management will not.
most of these guys dont wanna change. they are just happy how they are as of now. remember most of them know this the only place the going to play cricket
if people the guesses that people have made are right than that means chall. have 2 bowlers who chuck and you all still have them in top 3 or 5 bowling attacks in the league?
on a real note any spin bowler when he throws a faster one, he chucks beacuse with that runup and the action he's not going to be able to generate the pace. PEACE............
===================================But, isn't that the point? If that is truly what happened to him, wouldn't it be better if someone helped him correct his action, so that he can bowl the next time he goes? I know I may be preaching to the choir, but we as colleagues should help each other even if management will not. ==================================== If he admits to it then yes. Besides the mind set is that if league is not doing anything about it, then it must be OK to do it. Also onus is on the captains to show the right sportsman spirit and prohibit these bowlers from bowling. But we tend to empashize winning more than doing the right thing.
================================= Can you ask Adnan if he will enforce the 'chucking rule', if he were to become President? ================================= You can bet your bottom dollar I will.
These chucker have been called out so many times and i don't think any one of them has changed or try to change. I must say i agree with ND.. they like it they way it is and realy don't care what anyone says. So stop calling these good ones we got if you are going to call them chuckers later. Umpire you are on call..call these chuckers, throwers, whatever????, no ball going forward. If they as much as look at you after the call let us bloggers know and we will handle them for you.
i think bakshi has improved his action...i saw him bowling against wildcats...he was looking fine....i asked the umpire anwer khan that do you think bakshi chucks or not.....he said most of the left arm spinners are orthodox...so he's OK...i don't know why people think he chucks.....
Most of the times captains are caught in between. Even if they feel that one of their teammates clearly chucks, they still won't make a big deal out of it, because of loyalty towards their teammate.

dude what are you talking about? make no sense to me.

I think Challengers are in the top 3 bowling attacks because as a unit, they are that good. The results speak for themselves. An individual bowlers action shouldn't take away from the entire unit, if you ask me. But it should affect the way that individual bowler is perceived. So, I feel it is fair to be able to say that the Challengers as a whole are an excellent bowling unit, and yet question some of the individuals who make up that unit.

Regardless, based on our performance (lack there off) and based on a very tough schedule coming up, we might not make it to the playoffs if we don't fix our execution issues....
cmon man Tango...lets not take personal hits...I dont think anybody will appreciate that..
Ok ok I'll stop now, before everyone logs off in disgust
from what i have seen his abdomen cover upto knees. so doesnt need a guard.:))))))))))))
sounds good Romeen, I'll let you know if we are going to be out there..
"cmon man Tango...lets not take personal hits...I dont think anybody will appreciate that.."
Nothing personal against him Shekhs, the opportunity was just too much to pass up.
Swet, I think I'll pick Arsenal for Div-2 too. You have some exciting new additions this year.
Ok Tango, when's our secret rendezvous?
My apologies Sharath!
I've deleted some of my comments
Romeen,
Don't know man, this fake nickname thing is too much fun.

I'd definitely be interested.

sharath
c8w,

I hope you are not mad at my 'only cheap' shot on the blog (as tango pointed out).
shekhs,
where da party at ? and when? will try and make it....not cause am a fun guy but cause am allways up for a few drinks.
Romeen,
I might have spent one or two years in Mumbai, so there is a good chance that I'm not a Mumbaikar.
Tango. Stop with the Bengali man. You are not freaking Bengali.
I am!!!! :)
How about l*do? That is as gujju as u can get.
Aditya, did Tango just make those bengali names up? Can you confirm please?
I dont trust the tango.
Swetal,
Well, we dont know when, but I'm up for drinks anytime... ;-)
But Jaggi was talking about this place called Dosti, it was like a cricket bar..
Why dont you pick a date and then we can call it a party..
Aditya,
Ok fine, I might be half-Bengali.
Tango, CD nai banav.

I think n_w should change his nick to "cash"..

I agree with sharath, sanjay's playing like a dream. He should be in the team.
Anyways, we always select these teams but nothing ever comes out of it. Are we really gonna have a game?

Let me know if you guys have your own DIV 1 TEAM you guys want to post.
shekhs,
That Dosti bar....well sounds to gay for me man....sorry, Jaggi. We could still give it a shot or just go to the Alumni Club instead (on Algonquin road in Schaumburg) this Friday?
Sorry I wanted to say "Sharath"
Sure Swetal...lets not get too cozy...I agree..
Alumni club works good..
I'm in..

Sorry Swetal, not this friday man...any other day besides friday..
Can't get out on friday..

Nice try Aditya. Trying to get me to speak Bengali huh? Not going to happen buddy...that gives away too many clues.
Tango, you are not Bengali. But you are well versed with a lot of things, which is pretty impressive.
Madhu,
After I got your reply, I was looking into the league website for statistics of Hari Kiran of QC Kings. I found their website from that page and looks like their captain is someone named Pankaj Lamande.
Just for your information.

But anyways, not everywhere here is a stoner like you, to know what a 'Bong' is :)
Hey Sadiq,
All Star game, future plans, we don't discuss that stuff here anymore.
Management has no interest in any of these things.

Will see you for the next outing..
Aditya,
Dont start a new thread until Friday... let this read create a record comments ...
Capitol is 0-5.
But I think they're going to go on a four game winning streak.
Their next four games are against Chargers, AAA, Rogers Park, Flames :)
Juicy batting track, ordinary bowling: Satha's going to boost his average soon!
Aditya,
Dax definitely is on a roll this season, and since I field @ mid on or mid off, I get to see the deliveries.
He said, "Shekhs stay back a few steps, I'm gonna ball fuller"
He did and made satha to drive (he loves to drive) on an out swinger that moved a lot and induced the edge.

Adnan, still waiting on some help for the above.

Vipul Patel
Royals
Shekhs,
You are right.
Aditya,
out of 7 games STL has played they have got 5 of their opposition all out out within 45 overs. 4 of them below 200 and out of these 4, 2 teams were bowled out below 100.
Now hopefully that does say something about the bowling line up.
Rup,
I have all the contact info for the event organizer Polam Veman Reddy who was a teammate of mine when I played SCCA.

==================================
Firstly, I used maybe in your comparison.
Thanks for the info Adnan,
STL is noway close to top bowling line up in DIV I. proabably challengers has the best attack followed by PAK UNITED and may be PURDUE
Ajoy,
I'm always glad to have people point out inaccuracies. And feel free to question my opinion. That's what the blog is for.
I just want to bring out opinions and hear what others have to say. I'm sure there are others who will have a lot more to say, in a slightly different tone! ;-)
Do keep blogging and sharing your input with us!
Aditya,
Some one did consider us as Dark horse for this season, may be this dark horse goes all the way.
You never know :)....
Bust must say you did a pretty good job in profiling some teams.
N_W,
At present, I believe the top bolwing lineups are Wildcats, Milw CC, and of course the Challengers!
Ajoy,
A lot of people don't pick St Louis to win it all cause they find it difficult to win in Chicago.
Adi,
CATS are doing well but challengers got it all. swing (DAX), face (sanjay) acuuracy (nilesh) and a good spin combination. and darshan and tushar is there to back up.
but purdue got one of the best fast bowling units.
good one "analyst" RUP
N_W,
I definitely rank Purdue as a good bowling unit, don't get me wrong.
But as a unit, they're definitely in my top 3.
i dont put PURDUE in top three either. anyway bhavesh is as good as off spin going to get in our league. i can't recall any other.
Rup,
For your ready reference here are some stats for this season.
N_W, you do pose a good question? who is the best off-spinner in our league?
Ajoy Said,

------------------------------
Understood.. but it takes more than 3 guys to bowl the good teams out. You three avg 5.3 games that = 54 wickets. you got 33 who gets the other 21.
The reason why you bowling is not taken strngly right now is take Tehsin out and everything looks ordinary.
Aditya,
Which International Team you would compare Phoenix with ???
As per me, your team matches to India of 80s .. I feel .. Priyank is your Kapil ...
Best off spinner is either Balaji or Vinod Bommiah by a long shot, both from wildcats.
I am sure, if plays more games he can easily be one of the best offies in this league ..
pukka punjabi said...

-----------
pukka please.. not everyone who can rotate the arm is a spinner
What about Div 2?
Alpesh, good question!

Vipul,
Sounds good, we'll have a couple this saturday..
Some good discussions today...
Aditya, good comparisons.....interesting I would say...
guess there are no good off spinners in the league. sadiq any thoughts?
I think Sanjay Barretto from Wildcats is good one.. Not the beat but sure in top 3 good Off Spinners.
Tango,
Murali doesn't chuck, or so says the ICC.
Aditya,
If you can prove that some of the bowlers in are league actually 'chuck', then I'm with you. Till then, you can't discriminate against them.
As the saying goes, 'Innocent until proven guilty'
They can set scores, they can chase. In that fashion, they are somewhat like the Aussie's this year. You need a suplerlative performance from an opposing bowler or batsman to beat them these days!"
D_D,
snajay is good. also barath patel from royals is good too.
In Div 2, Chicago Cricket Club seems to have improved a lot ... Last year was their first year ... And even this year, they are almost playing with the same team ... They have won 3 out of their six games ...
Good going CCC ...
chuckers.....balaji, bakshi, bhavesh...who else aditya
I might have mis-counted. There may be 4 people with a "questionable" action instead of 5. Of which, 1 is a pace bowler, and the others are spinners. The pace bowler only chucks his faster one, not his regular deliveries.
I know we aren't a professional league, and we all play for fun, so it's difficult to do anything about it. But I think we should consider it, so as to help them. One of them in particular, clearly straightens his elbow, but not to bowl faster or anything. He still gives the ball good loop and it is like any normal bowling delivery. Just, his action isn't right! I'd like to see it corrected, rather than to prevent him from bowling, because I like the way he bowls and thinks as a bowler.
so those three in ur list?
14.5. NO BALL: The following shall be declared a No Ball;
It is really difficult to pick some of the balls initially ...
tango,
most of the umpires knows who chucks but can't do anything because our league is not a professional one. basically umpires dont want their ass kicked after the game.
Alpesh,
Adam Menk (left handed) has a slinging action like Malinga. Definitely does not Chuck. Just more round-arm. Also, a very under-rated cricketer, who i have a lot of respect for. Can't think of anyone else.
so aditya, look like you dogding my question. are those three in your list too?
n_w, you still haven't guess the last one?
by guess, i mean guessed.
the fast bowler....cant think of any.....tango lil help here..adi give me a clue
If Sadiq or any other umpire thinks that Bhavesh and Bakshi 'chuck', and if they still don't call these guys for chucking, then they should be banned from umpiring any games.
Rupesh

...anyway bhavesh is as good as off spin going to get in our league. i can't recall any other.

Maybe that's why he did not bowl in L.A.

bother T, for sure bakshi chuck every ball, then balaji throw at least four balls per over. bhavesh does so for the faster one
ND,
Can you ask Adnan if he will enforce the 'chucking rule', if he were to become President?
He's asked me to not address him anymore.
Thanks
well we all know that. who are the spinners going with you addy
Adnan,
But, isn't that the point? If that is truly what happened to him, wouldn't it be better if someone helped him correct his action, so that he can bowl the next time he goes? Instead of writing him off for the next LA open because of the mindset that he will not be allowed to bowl. Whether it happened or not (and I truly don't know), isn't my point valid though? I know I may be preaching to the choir, but we as colleagues should help each other even if management will not.
aditya,
most of these guys dont wanna change. they are just happy how they are as of now. remember most of them know this the only place the going to play cricket
if people the guesses that people have made are right than that means chall. have 2 bowlers who chuck and you all still have them in top 3 or 5 bowling attacks in the league?
ND,
You haven't asked Adnan my question. Aditya, some help please!
on a real note any spin bowler when he throws a faster one, he chucks beacuse with that runup and the action he's not going to be able to generate the pace.
PEACE............

If he admits to it then yes. Besides the mind set is that if league is not doing anything about it, then it must be OK to do it. Also onus is on the captains to show the right sportsman spirit and prohibit these bowlers from bowling. But we tend to empashize winning more than doing the right thing.

I am not so sure about that. Faster one definitely can be "bowled".

tango,
didnt see that brother, sorry.
Adnan,

These chucker have been called out so many times and i don't think any one of them has changed or try to change.
I must say i agree with ND.. they like it they way it is and realy don't care what anyone says.
So stop calling these good ones we got if you are going to call them chuckers later.
Umpire you are on call..call these chuckers, throwers, whatever????, no ball going forward.
If they as much as look at you after the call let us bloggers know and we will handle them for you.
Narasimha,
I'm sorry i meant to say most of the spinners.
i think bakshi has improved his action...i saw him bowling against wildcats...he was looking fine....i asked the umpire anwer khan that do you think bakshi chucks or not.....he said most of the left arm spinners are orthodox...so he's OK...i don't know why people think he chucks.....
Most of the times captains are caught in between. Even if they feel that one of their teammates clearly chucks, they still won't make a big deal out of it, because of loyalty towards their teammate.

Excellent!
TANGO I KNOW WHO YOU ARE.....SO WATCH IT ....WHAT YOU SAY...I'LL EXPOSE YOU...
Blogger,
I think Challengers are in the top 3 bowling attacks because as a unit, they are that good.

Bakshi had very good things to say about Anwer Khan as an umpire in the Pak Vs Flames game. Its good to see that he umpired well in the Pak Vs Cats game.
