Been a while...how have u all been doing? I pissed off so many folks last year...Hey...I did my duty. Thought I might play the nice guy this season. I like turning things around.
Wondering if Jack and Rup are going to turn things around as well.
How's Jack and Rup...good to know you guys are going to be back in Div 2 next year. Never heard from Jack all winter long. How's he doing and please request him to throw his statistics for this season...how many centuries is he going to score, how many fifties, and in what outfit is he going to lift the Div 2 trophy this year.
Welcome back Simon d, I am doing just fine. We have our eye on the trophy again this year. A lot of people have counted us out seeing we lost two early games. and Like you, everyone wishes for us to stay in Div 2. So their wishes may come through even if we win the Championship cause ICC will play the division of cricket where it's players can have the most fund doing so?. Hope this answers your question.
i would'nt say humble, it was an hones answer.. no different from last year. It's up to Jack when he want to start Blogging. As for night tour I have not yet decided????. As for management it's not hatred but my humble opinions and i hope it went across as positive energy rather than hatred.
Pick's for week #7 1.St.louis is going to lose against Pak gym. 2.United will beat phoenix with a big margin. 3.Rogers park will win against the purdue. 4.MUCC will get the first victory of this season against bears. 5.MCC will beat the flames easily. 6.Wildcats will beat Capitol. 7.AAA & royals is goin to be a close one but in the end AAA will win. 8.Chargers & bears i think bears is goin to be tired after playing in milwaukee so i give the edge to Chargers in this one. My pick's is just 4 fun don't wanna offend anyone.
Predication of the teams 4 playoffs. 1.MCC 2.Pak gym 3.Wildcats 4.Challengers 5.United 6.Muslim gym 7.Rogers park 8.Purdue & Phoenix will fight for the last spot but i think Purdue will make it agiin this year.
i predict upsets this week st louis is strong at home and will beat pak gym in a close one. capitol will beat wc with 1 or 2 individual performances. phoenix teamwork will overcome united. flames inflict first loss on milw. mu win against bears n bears beat chargers. royals will beat aaa. lets see how many of these come true ;).
SimonDispatch I will post my stats after you post yours.. Good to see you back on the blog... Yes I was taking a break since I got unfairly jabbed for my tendulkar question but its still on the table waiting for an answer.. WHEN HAS THAT LOSER WON A GAME FOR INDIA? HE IS A FLAT TRACK BULLY.. As for our team we are great... just a few losses to get the wagon jumpers off then we will proceed with confidence... Hey I have never met a challenge I dont like so I dont see why we should not win this year...Isnt that why we all play to win and do it joyfully?
Chally, Hey good to see u back online. I don't boast about what we, as a team, or I can do this season; that's ICC's cup of tea.
there's an unwritten rule that only you or Rup can indulge in self appreciation. We, the fellow bloggers, follow that rule in letter and in spirit.
Regarding Sachin Tendulkar, its upto Sachin fans to educate you. Having said that, Sachin has certainly won many games for India or laid the platform for several victories in his career.
Only thing I will add is that Cricket is a team sport and if Tendulkar does not win the game he surely sets up the stage for the later order batsman to finish teams off.
s_d, Are you trying to start a wrong line of conversation. If is unwritten for us then what is the rule for bloggers like you who judge individuals or team as the strive to accomplisg their aspirations??. ========================== "We, the fellow bloggers, follow that rule in letter and in spirit".
This is pure horse crap coming from you. ==============================
Rup my friend, you got things mixed up. Its ok for us to bash ICC for self-appreciation, I think that's perfectly allowed given the boasting that ICC usually involves in. Two early season lossess have curtailed your instincts this year. Also, the drubbing last year in the SF's taught you some hard lessons, much more effectively than what fellow bloggers tried to inculcate.
Fellow bloggers don't brag about their victories and statistics. that's ICC's monopoly.
tonald I agree and disagree... agree its a team game and I am big on that but you play the game and there are times the stage is set for you to come in and take the game over.. Viv richard made 179 not out out of 280 or so and this was done with the last wicket thats when big time players step up.. ... Any way enough of tendy nice guy not a stud in my book.. give me Dravid any day

nw, I agree that as a unit, batting has not clicked .. but spineless may be a bit harsh. Priyank showed tremendous application while batting last week against Purdue. We have had a couple of good performances from individuals, but we havent performed well as a team. I hope you said this to motivate us :)
Has anybody played Gopi from United? Any details about him would be greatly appreciated.
any updates for la open. who's going and who's not...or it's up to shohil and tariq to decied who's going? if it's up to shohil then he is taking loosing team again as usual.
i hope they choose player on basis of 20/20 game...shohil if you need help with it let blogger know.we will help you out picking up team. for once give up your captainship for la open and try something different this year.
A lot of teams looking for Night players. HMMM..Is anyone looking for an alrounder of my Age and ability??. If you take me i promise I will not give Simon and S_D the reason to say I am boasting!!!

Even that is too much of a pointer to give to the opposition (or even a teammmate :-)
Last week, I was umpiring Phoenix-Purdue. Purdue was batting, Pradeep with the opener Rahul. Shiv came on to bowl. Pradeep told him basically "watch him, he's a legspinner". First ball, pitched waaay outside off, Rahul shoulders arms waiting for the wide call, ball comes ripping back with the offspin, misses stumps on way to keeper, lots of oohs and ahhs. Pradeep comes rushing down the pitch saying "sorry sorry, he's an offspinner!!" ... well, it was pretty funny at the time, anyway :-)
BTW, either of you guys actually making it to Chasers this evening(along with Romeen), to discover the identity of the Secret Blogging Men?
I have to be at O'hare at 8:00 to pick up a friend. I will try to stop by at chasers before that. I wouldnt want to miss the first bloggers gettogether !!
nw, I agree that as a unit, batting has not clicked .. but spineless may be a bit harsh -------------
Jaggi, thats what i meant exactly. other than trying offent you. phoenix got lot of good batters but they just throw away their wickets. so for me its not lack of ability but lack of application and belief which is stored in spinal code. :))
Pak Gymkhana over St.Louis United over Phoenix Milwaukee United over Bears Purdue over Rogers Park Milwaukee CC over Flames Wildcats over Capitol AAA over Royals Bears over Chargers.
ND, unless the Milwaukee United game gets washed out, we can't be tied this week.

There is a U19 tournament to be held in July, check www.usaca.org for details. CE is sending a team out to SFO and looking for possibly 2 players who would be willing to pay the airfare to go. Transportation, meals and lodging will be provided. A great opportunity for our young guns to get some exposure and play higher level Cricket.
Does anyone know of such individual in our league who would be interested in participating?
Jaggi, NW is right. Phoenix, on paper, has one of the best batting line-ups in the league. Shiv might be a bit old, but he's surely one of the best hitters in the league. Diwakar and you are also very stable bats, and there aren't too many batsmen in this league more talented than Aditya. You add, Mitul, Priyank, Samir, Fabian and Naveen to the mix, I can't see how you guys don't score 200 in every game.
Spineless might sound a bit harsh, but its the right word.
Mehul, I'd love to send my son Rahul who does have great potential in bowling & batting, but still too young (6 yrs) :)
I had put him in coaching with Atul Bedade camp (in Baroda, Gujarat) & MCA (Maharastra Cricket Academy) for few weeks when he was there few weeks back. Thanks for the info...
Diwakar and you are also very stable bats, and there aren't too many batsmen in this league more talented than Aditya. =================================
Please. Aditya is one of most over-rated batsman. I hear ppl say good things about batting, but in my opinion, he is very ordinary! He hasn't made centurys. Look at his scores this seasun. Tango, what have you smoking? Or are you just Aditya under different name? Sounds like something Adnan will like to do. N_W, you are right. Like rest of Phoenix batters, he is spineless also.
1. St Louis. because Pak gives walkover like last year. 2. United. Phoenix need to go back to Div 2. 3. Purdue. Rogers park is no more a good team. 4. Bears. Afroze will score more than MUCC batters all told. 5.MCC. Flames will win 1 game this season. they already beat Phoenix. ha ha. 6. Capitol. 1 Satha > 11 pussy cats. 7. Royals. AAA should join Phoenix in Div 2 8.Chargers & bears. Irfan alone isn't enough. Next year the Charges should go to Div 2.
bh, I disagree. I admit I have seen very little of Aditya.. but, have liked what I have seen. He was very solid against Pak(when Raheel and Farman were firing it in.. that game got rained out). Yes, he has not made runs this season, but I do believe that he has tremendous talent.
Please. Aditya is one of most over-rated batsman. I hear ppl say good things about batting, but in my opinion, he is very ordinary! He hasn't made centurys. ------------------------------ I disagree... I think his record speaks for itself..
Thank god u r not a talent scout. becuz u r wasting your time and ours. u may be good player, but not scout. Pak Gym game he was lucky. few more overs, and yet another failure... as usual.
Story of why big_shitter dislikes Aditya............ read on.
big shitter on the highway picking up shit, down came Aditya and broke shitter's d..k, aahh!! said shitter I had only one, Now !! said Aditya, u have none.
Another phoenix player stand up for Aditya. I have nothing personal, but u guys need to get over him. what record? nothing to write home about. Scores of 2, 30 (against Flames), 5, and the big Thinga or 0. maybe that is how he got idea for nick tango, but could not spell properly.
Thinga,
Did Sanjay Patel rape or "wrap" Phoenix? Can't tell with your Gujju accent. Also, after I shit on your team, why should i clean up? Isn't that the point or you have shit for brains and can't figure it out?
Tango said, Swetal, be sure to not treat him like a 'Banda' ;) ====================== I don't think Swetal will do that to me if i join his team. then again if Simon_d has a say who knows::)))
we go thru same question every 3 week. and same names. of which, Aditya is never in them. So everyone agrees with me, but still we have some intellectually challenged folks (Thingoo, NW, Naveen, etc) who want to disagree when i state obviuos. Top 20, please.
vettipa....... whatever your name is. Nice poem. At least it rhymes. Nothing to do with cricket, but what else can i expect from u? Speak sense, and then we'll chat. But it better if u stick to poetry instead of cricket.

I need to get on some of what Simon_d smokes but I don't think at my age that would be too good of an idea! Regardless, he got no say in Arsenal matters mate. :)
Rup, Let's chat more this Sunday about this. And before I forget, we at Arsenal will be a-ok with you guys taking another week off ! :) You can come back to your last year's form the weekend after this one :)

Its still pretty early this season, much too small a sample-size to judge anything, surely? (So far this season Shahid Munir isnt in the Top Fifteen rungetters in the league! Does anyone seriously think he wont be there by the time the season ends?)
We had one full season of sample-size last year - which happened to be Aditya's first season in Division One (the previous year, in Div2, he was easily one of the best batsmen in the division, in the top 3 or 4 in runs IIRC). Last year, at the end of the season, Aditya was #18 in runs in Division One with 4 fifties. (Simran Sodhi was #15 with 335 runs, Aditya had 328 runs, 7 runs fewer).
You claim to moderate blogs. But ppl use words like asshole. Why u don't delete these comments? Oops. I used asshole. Will u delete this comment? I used it again. Will you delete twice? Or is it your opinion that it should not be deleted? so what does that say about your opinion?
If i want to write asshole, and i don't want Jaggi deleteing, should i just say I think Thingoo and vetti-wasisname are opinionated? HAHA.
We will talk on Sunday Swetal. BTW ICC vacation time is over. Unless you had it pre-arranged you ain't getiing one till season ends. So It will be fathers day and ICC wants to have some fun. Thanks Rup
NW, FFFAAAAAAAARRRRRRRTTTTT !!!! There. I just expressed an opinion. Your thoughts????
Now I see double - standards that is. you and thingoo got on this blog to hide behind nicks and piss ppl off just to have fun. i've read what u guys said. Now you have problem with me??
no haters man, just don't like over-raters. u guys are now boring. catch u after weekend games. then we'll see whose opinion proved to b correct.
Smoking Aces need your talent for the night tournament. We are looking for 3 players as some of our regulars will not be able to play. Let me know if you are interested. Rup and Jack we would love to have you guys maybe you can bring Shekar too.
phew...MUCC has finally got a victory...feels good to get some points against your name.
Anyway, on a hot humid and muggy day at Lincoln park, Milwaukee visiting team Bears won the toss and decided to bat first. MUCC bowlwers bowled with control and discipline to restrict Bears to a modest 89/9 in about 28 overs. Skipper Prasad led the way with 3 wkts aganist his name. Spin trio Shyam, Javed and Bunty chipped in with 2 each. Do note that Bears played with a 10 men roster. Afroze was conspicuouos with his absence.
MUCC chased down the targat in 19.2 overs posting 94/2 as its final score. Veteran Badri chipped in with 10 while returning veteran Arun was unbeaten on 17. Yours truly got back to smome run scoring ways making an useful 50*.....
We are slowly building some momentum going in to the crucial 2 months of the league season with imp games like those agst Wildcats coming up very shortly....hopefully we can sustain it and get back to consistency and winning ways.
good luck to Bears for a good game and Romesh Kadlec, good job buddy with the officiating.
A quick update. Phoenix beat United in a good game. Phoenix put up 281 for 9 in 45 overs. United were all out for 204 in 36 or 37 overs.
For United, Faisal played a really good innings under pressure (50+)from a mounting runrate that hit 10/over. Fortunately, an early dismissal of Adnan, a superb catch to remove Nipun who also batted really well, and the conspicuous absence on Mehul (both batting and bowling)played a part in our winning a big game.
United are a good bunch of guys, and play their cricket hard, but in sporting spirit. Good luck to them. I have no doubt they'll be in the playoffs and in the hunt for the championship. The umpire, Anwer Khan, had a good, consistent match should be commended for it.
------- Aditya said... A quick update. Phoenix beat United in a good game. Phoenix put up 281 for 9 in 45 overs. United were all out for 204 in 36 or 37 overs. --------
Yes, the spineless Phoenix batting folded for merely 281 today. And the cant-bat-for-nuts Aditya, coming in at 50/3 and facing about 70/4, got 91 of the runs all by himself (a 100+ partnership with Diwarkar I believe).
In related news, it is rumoured that the entire Phoenix team is going to register on the blog with anonymous nicknames, just to make sure they can *all* anonymously bash Aditya's batting every Friday before they play :-)
In other updates, the weekly summary has only been put in Div1 so far by Purdue, who apparently scored 350! (not surprising that they put their summary up within hours of the game, if thats what they scored!)
WP had 2 Div2 games today (along with United/Phoenix). In the Peoria-Eagles game, Maninder Bola was sadly runout in the 3rd over (thus denying me a chance to see him bat :-) However, the days paisa was vasooled due to famed Tintin-fan and blogger Madhew, who displayed some of the cleanest and best power-hitting seen in ages with 59 off 36 balls (with 3 fours and 6 sixes - 3 of the sixes landed 20-30 yards into the neighbouring grounds. And there was nothing wrong with some of the balls either, good pitched up balls dispatched over bowlers head, shortish balls pulled miles over midwicket etc). Peoria had been about 50/4 before that, but got up to 196. Eagles gave it a run, Subbu (surely the most underrated terrific player in Div2) hit some crisp shots, Eagles were ahead on 20 overs target when it rained etc, but they lost too many wickets after that and were bowled about for 120 odd I think. Peoria looks a damn good side (theyre looking now as they were expected to look last year I think) - they might well be favourites in Div2 this season.
On WP3 Continental beat Springfield. Springfield apparently put up 199, and Continental supposedly chased it down in about 26 overs or so! Future opponents of Continental beware - the prolific Nasir Yemani has returned to them from Hyderabad, probably for the rest of the season (he made a rapid 50+ today, from what I was told).
good going Phoenix. and now I hope all the Phoenix bashers will keep quite about them being spineless, they certainly showed that they may be under rated but when thier batsmen click they can win any match they want. Aditya good luck for your future games and this score of yours should keep Tango and NW shut. good going guys and keep up the good work. As for Tango and NW BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! to you guys. Phoenix had the last laugh as they were the ones to wrap up UCC and win by a large margin. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

I know what u did last summer, but I don't know Tango is,
Unforunately, your deductive skills aren't very good and obviously you don't know me at all. But then, some of my teammates thought I was Tango too, so I can definitely overlook your mistake.
Nither do I believe in praising myself, nor do I believe in hiding behind nicknames. I'd rather let my bat do all the talking, and leaving the opinion making to the bloggers.
Also, let me show u some of Tango's posts to illustrate my point that Tango and I are 2 separate people: ===============================
Tango said... Who are the captains of all the Division I teams? I only know a few.
Pak Gymkhana - Rashid Challengers - Bhavesh Phoenix - Aditya/Diwakar (not sure) St.Louis - Sohail United - Faisal Bears - Faisal Wildcats - Romeen Flames - Kiran Muslim - Farhat Milwaukee United - Prasad Purdue - Pradeep
Who are the others?
================================ I certainly know who the captain of Phoenix is - Mitul! ==================================
Tango said... cricket, Everyone wants to have fun, but it won't be as much fun if winning didn't matter. Most teams take their cricket pretty seriously. If I remember correctly, MDS used to fly down some of their players from India before a playoff game.
Tango said... Yes Todd Pinnington and Mahesh Parikh are definitely the best keepers in the league, but Todd is miles ahead of anyone else!
================================== I don't even know who Todd is, or what MDS used to do. I've been in the league for a year and a half only! ==================================

Fair enough. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. It's very difficult to select from 600 odd people in the league when you're not in the management. But I'm not trying to defend him - I barely know him. However, my first impressions have been positive thus far.
================================== Are you calling me schitzo? Coz it seems like I'm talking to myself on the blog and arguing about Adnan!! ==================================
Tango said... Mehul,
Yes, barobar, barobar, Capitol is completely at fault here. You are right….kadak dikra. But your team shouldn’t blame Sadiq. Sadiq sajjan dikro che….sajjan manne, peaceful. He’ll always listen to the side with the louder voice.
Ps. My Gunglish is a little weak. ===================================
I'm not Gujju. I'm half Bengali and half Punjabi. All i know about Gujrati is Kem Cho - Majaa Ma. I'm from Kolkata, not Mumbai.
Also, I have nothing against Adnan and no negative feelings towards him or United. In fact, I really like the team and the way they play. Tango had a bit of a blogging tiff with Adnan!
And, most of the time, specially the United game, Tango has predicted against Phoenix! Not something I would ever do, even against Pak Gym. I still believe we could have beaten them, but thats more to do with me believing in us than Pak's bowling / fielding.
I can see why someone may think that Tango is from Phoenix, but I definitely don't think so. But he seems to be a Mumbaikar.

I know what you did last summer but i'm not man enough to say who I am,
Why don't you be a "man" and tell me who you are? I make my comments openly and use my name. Why don't you do the same, and then we'll talk like men!!
You know nothing about Phoenix or the kind of guys we are. Just because someone has something good to say about us, doesn't mean that it has to be one of us. People like you say crap about us all the time.
i know for a fact who u r. U guys have the exact same grammatical styles, anyone reading these blogs can tell the flow of the writing and grammar used is exactly the same. schitzo, yes. that is exactly the ploy behind erasing the trail of who u are. the evidence you provided only further incrimnates you. just compare the writings...
i know what you did last summer but i'm a few grey cells short of understanding the truth,
Have you ever considered the possibility that there may be some folks who use similar grammar and language to me? Or is that too much for you to comprehend? Obviously logic and reason is not for you. So, I'm done with you and your "opinion". Think what you will.
By the way, how come you still haven't told me who you are???? C'mon, you're man enough to do that, aren't you?
"I know i'm an idiot since last summer" knows for a "fact" that you are me!
Nicely done. Your identity remains hidden and you can continue to laugh in your anonymity at this. If I were in your position, I'd be cracking up as well!!
Quick update for Wildcats Vs Capitol.... Capitol made 209/9 in 35 overs and wildcats scored those runs in about 32 overs while loosing 3 wickets. Satha played a couple of good shots, and at one time Capitol where down for 98/8 and their 9th wicket pair made around 100 runs and the main contributor was Rizwan who was their top scorer. Wildcats started the chase well but lost Krishna early, after that Romeen and Sanjay played well enough to make 70 and 50 odd respectively.. The guys from Capitol were good and really nice, played the game in the spirit.phew it was hot though ;-)
Is this a thread for only Division 1 games. I see people talking about Division I only. There is some real good cricket going on in Division II this year. From what I saw yesterday at WP it's really awsome cricket. May be someone should start a thread for Division II. I do not play in this league but I am a die hard fan of this league. This leagues is trying to make this sport popular every passing day. I still believe in the words "When Boys play Baseball...MEN play cricket".
desi_cricketer, Nope, this thread is certainly not a Division 1 thread, its for everybody. I know for apparent reasons it seems like that, but this is supposed to be used by all 3 Divisions.
We do have good representation of Div 2 thru Rup (ICC), Madew (Peoria), Ram (Eagles), Chicago Giants etc. We just need more Div 2 teams to step up and give us some weekend updates.
Arsenal vs ICC Arsenal won the toss and elected to bat first. Jack and Rup bowled as usual and reduced Arsenal to 15/5 within the first 5 overs. Middle and lower order fought back to take the score to 137.
ICC began the chase disastrously losing one of their openers in the first over. Second over, Collins edged to the keeper(your truly) to only spill the chance which cost us the game probably. Collins scored 64 with some support from Jack and Rup. Things "might" have been different if we had atleast held on to atleast one of the chances(around 4-5) that Collins offered.
I watched some ganes at WP on Sunday, Bears WON and I think Royals also WON aginst AAA. Opener not sure who was he, scored some 40-45 and someone in middle order scored some 70-80 to WIN. Sadiqbhai was doing the Umpiring.. Any input on that game Sadiqbhai?
Narasimha I know you would have traded the 2 catches you took for the first one... but those two you took was great... Got to give it to collin though he played some AWESOME shots..
I was there buddy.. I saw Sadiq and Jaggi standing out on LOT.. I was inside at that time alone !! hiding !!! I left right after you, Tushar and Vipul came with Sadiq and Jaggi .. he he he ..
Thanks for your reply. I agree with you that its upto the teams to report the results for the games.
CAPTAINS, PLAYERS please report your results here. Win or lose share your results. People read this blog a lot. Get the information they are looking for.
Eagles played a very good game yesterday agains PCC. They bowled very well especially Left armer Amit. sheshu, subbu and Mankesh bowled pretty tight not givin away freebees to us. They didn't give away anything at all in extras. Very tight bowling. PCC had to work for every run. Mankesh I am sure would be sad as he had 2 chances of getting me caught when I was on sigle digits. But luck favored me and I did the maximum damage. Kiran playd few power shots..and Praveen Anchored our innings very well.
PCC bowled very well both our opening bowlers had trouble catching the line early, as ball was shaping little extra than we used at PCC ground. May be cuz of the over cast conditions...but Subbu and Preetam were looking very solid and once Subbu departed, Preetam played anchor role very well. He was unbeaten at 29 runs. But Vishal and Santosh came back bowled tidy overs to finish of the tail. We took all our catches, none spilled. One we took was in noball too...:) We pressed on and Rain interruped the game little bit. Its never easy to bat on when ball is skidding little bit. Ask us as we know from last year ICC quaterfinal game. But Eagles tried very well. They are very fantastic team and I would bet they will rebound from their slump. All their games are pretty close and they need just few guys to step up and they are there..Good luck to Eagles in their future games..and they are very gracious hosts! Thank you to Eagles team memebers!
Just to add to what Naren said earlier, the capitol guys were very accomodating. We took the train there and back and were under time constraints and they worked with us to get the game done in time. BTW, if some of you guys want to consider taking the train to springfield, I think its a good idea. The only caveat is that if its late, it could be a problem.
'Cats are off to a great start this year. Congratulations. Any thoughts as to why it's so different from your poor start last year? I know you got some new guys, but it seems like the top batsmen for you continue to be stalworths like Ajit, Sanjay, and you.
What's your secret? A few friendly pointers wouldn't hurt! Anyway, congratulations to y'all so far, though I hope the law of averages catches up to you for the last game of the regular season!! I think you guys are playing.......
It was a freaking hot fathers day as ICC took the field first in our game againt Arsenal. Arsenal quickly dug a huge hole as they we 15/5 after 5 overs. The middle played smartly and aided by a few chances got to 138 It was even hotter when our turn came to bat so we figure get it over with quickly and lets go party for fathers day. We lost an early wicket but Colins took the Arsenal bowling apart and we got the target in just 20 overs. He got a couple chances but played some superb shots. He was helped by Jack and my flying 21 off about 10 balls.
Prediction battle, Guess who won this week fellas?
Tango: 5-3
N_W: 4-4 (Kiss my ass ND!) Justice for all: 3-5
I purposely excluded Big_Shitter (5-3), because he ruined a perfectly friendly blog on Friday.
That makes me the sole champion.
"I am the champion - my friends And I'll keep on fighting - till the end - I am the champion - I am the champion No time for losers (knock knock N_W) 'Cause I am the champion - of the world -"
Aditya, Thanks for the kind words. Congratulations on your big innings and your win over the weekend. I dont know if there's any secret, I guess its a combination of team effort and some luck. But again, its early days, the key is to be able to keep this up. We'll see.
Look forward to our last game of the regular season :)
----------- Death Dealer said... I watched some ganes at WP on Sunday, Bears WON and I think Royals also WON aginst AAA. ---------
Yes, the demise of the Bears was obviously greatly exaggerated :-) Riven by infighting and possible defections they may be, leading to them showing up with 9 men in Milwaukee (and consequently getting demolished)... but yesterday they came out with a vengance. Sameer hit 30-odd against his former team (before heading off to surgery on his finger - he's gone for 6 weeks IIRC), then Adeel blasted 98 (*and* was unhappy with his decision, us poor umpires really have a thankless job :-), then Doc and Tariq and Afroze hit about 40 apiece IIRC, and Bears rattled up 328 in 45 overs! Chargers ended up getting about 175 in response I think (with Irfan hurting himself in the process).
I did AAA-Royals, a delayed start and a reduced game, but a quite excellent match. It was on WP2, which has a quite ridiculously quick outfield at the moment with no rain (same field on which Phoenix hit up 281 the day before). AAA lost a couple early wickets and were about 30/2, but then Zaheer went blasting and Ibrahim anchored the innings. Zaheer got a fifty with some very clean hitting, and late in the innings Bilal, Adam etc hit the accelerator as well with some terrific fours and a couple sixes. AAA ended up with 223 in 35 overs, a quite excellent total.
In reply Royals started fast but kept losing wickets at one end. Anand played a terrific knock - he got 44, but there were probably 8 or 9 fours in there I think, and all crisply hit shots. The bowlers gave him too much width and were a bit short, and he just creamed it thru point and cover with supreme authority (and once, when it was pitched up with width, he played an absolutely gorgeous cover drive too). Eventually smacked a full-blooded shot and was caught by point. He was, I think, the fifth wicket to fall (Adam doing the damage with usual excellent swing bowling) - Royals had been 56/2 in 7 overs, but slid to about 70/5 in 11 overs or so.
Then Vipul took over, playing his usual attacking innings full of cracking pulls and cuts. There were 2 possible chances off him, both times he top-edged intended shots and the ball ballooned high in the air... and both times the fielders allowed it to drop between them due to confusion about who was going for the catch (once it fell right next to the pitch, 3-4 yards from the bowling end... the bowler, the keeper and midwicket all ran right up to it, then all stopped 3 feet apart from each other, and the ball fell in between!) Pritesh gave a nice stand for a while, then Neel gave another stand, then Manish (who came in with about 40-odd to get). Vipul continued blasting the bowling at his end all this while, bringing the asking rate down from 7/over to less than 5/over by the time 30 runs were needed - tremendously clean pullshots in particular. AAA were hampered by the fact that their fifty-maker Zaheer had hurt himself, and he is their 5th bowler too... the main bowlers bowled quite well, but the fifth bowler proved very very expensive (Vipul took about 17 runs off one over I think, with pulled fours and sixes). There was one more twist at the end - with 10 runs needed Vipul was runout for a terrific 80-odd by a direct hit on the stumps from a kid who looked about 12-years-old (on as a substitute for Zaheer)! Thus 10 needed with only 2 wickets in hand... but Manish and Bharat made it (mostly in singles) without too many alarms with a couple of overs to spare in the end.
So all the Div1 results are in - who won the prediction pool? :-) I dont think anyone had Phoenix beating United, and few had St Louis beating Pak Gym (now *that* was a stunning game, to me - but St Louis must have been really fired up to get their revenge after their one-sided playoff loss to Pak last season). Two or three very one-sided games this week in Div1 (Bears put up only 80 against MUCC, PakGym shocking put up only 96 against St Louis, and Flames I think put up only 110 against Milwaukee).
your ass still alive. i thought you got beaten to death at chasers. anyway celebrate my child till next weekend.
anyway some big upsets over the weekend.
UNITED lost to PHOENIX -
here is what i missed, UNITED with out mehul is nothing. Here onward all my prediction on UNITED would be based on mehul plays.
PAK lost to STL -
this is a no brainer
PAK + $1000 is no match to STL - $1000. well last year romour had it PAK forfieted the game for $ 500. i bet since they traveled this time, the price must be higher.
any blog detective up for possible match fixing investigation?
BEARS lost to MU -
DA BEARS should change their name to PUSSYCAT DOLLS.
--------- Romeen said... ---------
Trust the Cats to come up with a solution to avoid the drudgery of driving :-)
So why was it a 35-over game, anyway? Not just cos you were taking the train back, I hope? I had a reduced-overs game too, which I personally dont like at all. Its supposed to be a 45-over league.. unless it rains, IMHO every game should be played to 45 overs. No excuses should be valid to avoid it IMHO (not aimed at you guys Romeen, or at anyone in particular actually... just that, if its a 45-over league, then everyone should play 45 overs all the time unless there is rainfall or some such unavoidable Act of God sort of thing, IMHO).
Romeen said "BTW, if some of you guys want to consider taking the train to springfield, I think its a good idea. The only caveat is that if its late, it could be a problem."
C8W man u are one politically correct pussy. Just direct it if it is meant for Romeen. He is not paying your bills. There is no way that games of 35 overs allowed, you can take train or take ur own personal plane. I have also heard that since it will be raining in the afternoon the game was reduced to less then 45 overs.
PAK + $1000 is no match to STL - $1000. well last year romour had it PAK forfieted the game for $ 500. i bet since they traveled this time, the price must be higher. ------------------ neanderthal,
I must say you sure have a very entertaining imagination.
Keep up the good work and keep entertaining all those who read this blog.

When I said specifically it wasnt directed at Romeen, why would you insist on trying to read between the lines and come up with that? It has nothing whatsoever to do with political correctness, and I know very well that Romeen aint paying my bills (if he was, Id demand his snazzy car from him in payment ;-)
When someone writes something, why cant it be read as exactly what was written and meant, instead of imputing other thoughts and agendas to it? (On Friday I supposedly wrote something "defending Aditya", or so I was told on the weekend... and I was asked again, do I really think he's the best bat in the league etc? For the record, I dont think Aditya is the best bat in the league - Sorry Adi :-) But if anyone actually bothers to read *what was written*... that was never actually suggested. I think he is a very good batsman who may have had a soft start to the season, but with his ability I thought he'd produce sooner or later - as he happened to this weekend. Just try and understand what is being written instead of trying to presume implications (which were not actually implied), please :-)
I addressed the above to Romeen because I was curious why their game was 35 overs - I dont know anything about that match, I wasnt there, I didnt know who had won or lost until I read the posts on here this morning, I dont know if it rained or not, nothing. And I amended the rest (ie my own personal opinion regarding length of games) because it seemed relevant - my own game yesterday was shortened, and I had brought this exact point up to people at WP yesterday itself, before knowing any other game was of 35 overs length (Aditya who had come to watch, Shiv who was umpiring, and a couple of guys from Bears who I had watched chunks of their batting with etc). My game yesterday began at 12:30, and this is a league issue on which I was expressing my own (contrary) opinion anyway. The league, unlike Romeen, *does* actually pay me... so hows *that* for political incorrectness? :-)
Sadiq, I agree that if the league is a 45 over league, we should play 45 over games whenever possible. However, I'm not sure if there are a lot of teams out there that want to play 45 overs. We brought this up with management and they pointed out (rightly) that nobody brought this up at the AGM, so we continued with the 45 over format. I think we should seriously talk about this again and find out how many teams actually want to play 45 overs. I think Farhat was talking about a signature campaign but that probably fizzled out. I think the management wants to discuss this with all the captains, preferably at a meeting or a conference call. I dont know if its too late for this season, but we should definitely bring this up for next year. What do you guys think?
Romeen, someone actually brought it up during the AGM (IIRC).. but was never taken up seriously..
I think the major concern is 45 overs for a ROAD game..I think that should be evaluated..
Of course, then Capitol and STL will play only 35/40 over game, almost every game..
But, there should be definitely be a consensus on this, as you can't afford to travel 3 hours on a sunday and play 45 overs and then drive back...and of course post the report on the blog the next day morning.. :-)
I personally like 45, but my Wife thinks I should just play 5, or maybe not even play.. :-)
i predict upsets this week st louis is strong at home and will beat pak gym in a close one. capitol will beat wc with 1 or 2 individual performances. phoenix teamwork will overcome united. flames inflict first loss on milw. mu win against bears n bears beat chargers. royals will beat aaa. lets see how many of these come true ;).

Respect!
Well done Straight_drive. Somehow I missed your picks (next time don't put them in paragraph form).
But anyways, I'm just glad that I kicked N_W's butt. Maybe I'll do the same with you next week ;)
I told you all last year that 45 overs is too much for this league. You need to be physically fit to last in the cuurent heat wave and we are not even in summer. Div one needs to send in a petition to management letting them know the can play 45 over any more but 40 cause the got 1 year older. Next year the may have to come down to 35 over as they will be 2 year older than last year::)))
they should be thanking us for smacking them on the head. but one big session not going to prove anything. then purdue must be best batting line up ever...they put 352/5 in a much bigger ground
so rup..every year you grow older 5 overs down the drain...i guess in 9 years two teams meet would meet up at WP and just toss to find the winner and go home. oh, i can't wait for that day.:))
as nice as he is, sadiq got his favorites. but in my opinion his remarks up for interpretation as much as his LBWs. but to hit 350 you gotta have some balls
Adnan, Can you let us know what and how the petition you all filed that got you a spot to send a team to the LA open. I will like to see if i can get in a team as I checking sponsors out?. From the looks of your team looks like MWCC was not used on your Bid?.
n-w SAID, so rup..every year you grow older 5 overs down the drain...i guess in 9 years two teams meet would meet up at WP and just toss to find the winner and go home. oh, i can't wait for that day.:)) =========================== Part true, the come to the ground spin the toss and the looser pays for all the drinks the drank that day..no cricket!!! ---------------------------- Shekhs said, So rup, each year we will reduce it by 2 ? :-)
That gives us more beer time too..! --------------------- Nice to know there are others thinking like me. ------------------------ Unless these Div one teams start recruiting young blood they may not even have a team much less spin the toss. I guess the ultimate goal of the trophy will end up killing their Team. Recruiting of older players instead of trying to groom young guys. I wonder what is the Avg age of some of the top teams. Pak has to be around 35. Wild cats around 35 ( Romeen?) Bears up there also. Add 9 years to this and wow 44..who can you win then?
im with c8w proper cricket is 45/50 ovs 40 ov is good too but if u reduce from that then that is a joke not cricket. you can stay home n drink beer ;) and watch cricket on tv or play it on stickcricket.com. or only play 20-20.
rumour has it mgmt going to redude 45 to 40 soon. shorter the game weaker the cricket going to be. if we can't put up with heat what we can do, in the middle of the season, say JULY and AUG, we can play 40 then we can go back to 45 overs. so this will give up like seven 40 overs games and seven 45 overs games.
neanderthal_walking said... they should be thanking us for smacking them on the head. but one big session not going to prove anything. then purdue must be best batting line up ever...they put 352/5 in a much bigger ground -----------------------------------
I didnt play the game, but did hear all about it. The team showed great application. One thing the scorecard doesnt show is the catches.. Aditya, took a blinder at point. Amish, also took a blinder at Midwicket region to get rid of Nipun, who was playing very well.
I am very happy for my team and for Aditya. There are some major concerns(44 wides).. we have to make sure we get more disciplined.
nw, tango... I guess we needed that kick in the rear to wake us up. Thank you for looking out for us and hope you continue to do so :)
Thanks to Sheks for organizing the first meet. We had some good conversation about our league. Unfortunately, I had to leave early.. but will look fwd to the next one.
There is a place called Dosti in Roselle/Schaumburg area.. they claim to be a cricket bar. We can look at that place and may be even work on getting a group discount for us.
Congratulations to all the winners. I am at a training and have very limited access to the web.
WHAT WE SHOULD DO IN NEXT AGM IS NOT AN ISSUE. WHO GIVES YOU AN AUTHORITY TO CHANGE THE GAME TO 35 OVERS? I AM SURPRISED THAT BEING A SENIOR TEAM YOU GUYS COME UP WITH SUCH A LAME EXCUSE. BUT THEN YOU HAVE ALWAYS COME UP WITH LAME EXCUSES TO SUIT URSELF.
Thanks for nice words about us. It is a bit strange for us to be 0-5 at this point of time. We certainly did not expect such a start to our season. We know we will turn things around and hopefully from this weekend onwards.
May be we need a wakeup call from Tango and N_D :)
We lost to two teams comprehensively - Jaguars and your team. We gave away the remaining three games on a silver platter.
I rue the shot I played that got me out...I tried to create an opening because of your 6-3 field. Infact, you got couple of wickets of a simple delivery...one that I got out off a noball. If that's your weapon, that's a nice one to have :)
Ram, Having played with Eagles for 4 years, one thing I can say that you guys have a trumendous potential, it's just a matter of one win and you guys will be back in business! It's great to see Subbu in a great form (as usual) :)
In my opinon, it should be 45 overs. I'd be the last person to say this since keeping 45 overs takes a toll on you at the end of the day but it brings out the best of cricket. It's just my thought!!

Well, Iam a radical in a lot of different points of view - this is one of them I guess :-) I think longer games offer the best cricket (I also happen to be one of the last people left on earth who actually prefers test matches to ODI matches, thats how silly some of my views are :-) TO me the best, the most competitve, the *fairest* form of cricket is the 45-50 overs, not 20 or 30. It gives the *best* the most opportunity to emerge.
In my opinion, I think we should be playing the Regional Tournaments sponsored by USACA (which we dont, as a league). In the end, at the highest USACA level, the nationals, tournaments are 50-overs-a-side affairs. In the end, thats the standard - I think our best players are good enough to dominate the Central-East regional side at any rate, and thus at least *play* at the nationals. For that they have to be good enough and fit enough to play *50* overs, not even 45!
We are not the only league in the USA after all - all the best leagues around the country actually *do* play long games. In LA, SF etc they all do play 50 over games - there they have 50 overs for Division One, 40 for Division Two (and some have 30 for Division Three IIRC). Fitness is a vital part of good cricket, it should be - it is as important as good batting or good bowling. By reducing the games IMHO you lower the emphasis on that aspect. There needs to be one Elite Division that incorporates all the best qualities - batting, bowling, fielding, fitness, everything.
Last year was the first season we went to 45-overs-a-side. It was very difficult early on - hardly any teams were batting a full 45 overs! But that changed, as teams adjusted - now teams *do* often bat 45 full overs. In the first 5-6 weeks last year, basically a total of 2 games saw 45 overs batted out (I even wrote an article for it for the Midwest Cricketer at the time)... that changed even at the end of last year itself. This year lots more teams are batting out 45 overs. Now there is hardly any reason to go backwards IMHO, not after teams have adjusted and are playing *better* cricket IMHO in the 45-over format.
Of course players and teams want shorter games as they grow older - its natural. (Yesterday I spoke with some members of the Bears, a couple of them felt the league should be 35 overs! I completely disagreed, but that was just me :-) But thats partly the point - teams need to get younger too, for the league to stay good as a whole.
The other thing is, there often seems to be too much of a "prestige" thing for 30/30... too many consider it "Division Three", below their status etc (note, I dont mean Romeen here - none of this is addressed to him :-) He actually plays 30/30 anyway :-) I dont think any of this stuff should hold. 30/30 should just be a shorter game, a quicker game, for people with more family committments etc (this is also why I think 30/30 should begin at like 8:30am, so it finishes by 1 in the afternoon and leaves the entire day free for people with family committments etc). For people who love cricket and just want to play... eventually I do believe 30/30 should become a viable outlet, down the road. When really good players turn 50, say, do they want to just stop playing cricket because they cant play 40 or 50 overs easily? I doubt it - we all love the game, we all want to keep close to it. In those cases, 30/30 should be a perfect outlet for them - it shouldnt just be the "weaker sister" division with crappy cricket, but rather a different division with very good cricket... just a shorter version of it! But the entire league shouldnt go to shorter games just because it is getting older - there still needs to be one Elite Division where we play cricket as long and as good as the best leagues in the country. And produce cricketers as good or better than anyone in the country in that form of the game, too.
Let me remind you that Shiva is uh, lets just say older than some of us, and yet he plays Division 1 games. He may not be the most spritely fielder, but he has found a way to fit in and use his talents smartly. I'm sure as people get older, they can either do the same, or play a shorter version of the game as suggested by you.
I totally agree with you, and would be extremely disappointed if the league were to shorten the games. In fact, I'd love to see a 2 day game on a long weekend with some of our "stars". I'd be interested in seeing how we did there.
The only thing I'd like to see changed is the addition of the power-play format now.
Just had a look at the points table, looks like you are yet to receive 2 pts for the rained out game agst Rogers' park.....or are you rescheduling the game....anyway see you all this weekend.....and congrats on an awesome season so far, you guys are on a roll.
Aditya,
Good innings man....we had a horrendous time playing here in Milwaukee on saturday....we took 2 breaks one each after 15 overs and guys from Bears had to get water alomst every other over....I can just imagine how horrible it would have been in chicago and Purdue....and you folks (purdue, bears and phoenix) put up, 352, 328 and 281....it takes some fitness and concentration.
40 overs vs 45 overs, why not check on TIME.. We start the game here in Chicago Area at 10.00 am. Did anyone ever wanted that to move UP little bit say 9.00 or 9.30 am ... This may help some "OLD" or FAMILY" guys to get going little early..
Sorry to pick on you Rup, but your always complaining about, 'how MWCC limits the time you get to spend with your family'.
If thats the case, then how come you end up playing 20-20 every year? Since you aren't required to participate, shouldn't you be spending that time with your family?
Common Rup, these are all excuses. I used to be the master of excuses back in school. You aren't going to fool Tango!
How come no one ever discusses about division 2 games...we should probably start a seperate thread for division 1 and division 2.
Everything people discuss here is division 1 match ups...predictions...guys there are good teams in division 2, interesting matchup in the past and intersting matchups comming in future...
Also can some one let us know how is moline cricket ground...how is there team.
Shekhs said, Tango, You are one provocative....fella.. ----------------------- Can we add stupid to this also cause he can act like a fool sometimes. -------------------------- I play 20/20 because it does not affect my family life. 3 or 4 evenings over 5 months don't realy do much damage. Try 14 week ends of the summer I am gone either Saturday or sunday. Throw in Umpiring and travelling and you will know what we Family guys are talking about. If you make it to the Play offs then add more time. Tango do the math for me on this, that is if you can?? S-D, Stay away from Tango band wagon or you may become like him.
Thanks for the encouragement. If I am not mistaken, you kept first and then batted second, and scored a 50 or so. So, props to you too, probably more so because you batted after keeping!!
Good luck this week against the 'cats. Seems like you guys are starting to gel, which doesn't bode well for us as we come visiting in a few weeks!
"I play 20/20 because it does not affect my family life. 3 or 4 evenings over 5 months don't realy do much damage."
Banda,
If you want to reduce the games by five overs, you will save on average, one hour every game. If you add em up, then you'll save 14 hours in a year.
Now you play four night games, each around four hours long. Include travel time and everything else, its more like five hours. Adding those numbers shows that you spend 20 hours on Night Cricket.
I think the only reason people talk about Div 1 more in the blogs is because there are more Div 1 bloggers and so they follow Div 1 games more than Div 2 games. I'm sure if there were more Div 2 bloggers, then they would dominate the conversation more. Because you are right, there are a lot of interesting Div 2 games that people don't know about.
Tango,
I think everybody but one person knows that you and I are 2 separate people by now (hopefully)! For that one person, I (and by that I mean you) must really see like a whacked out nut-case!!!
Shekhs,
Tango, S_D, Simon, N_W, and Big Hitter are all fellas looking to provocate. I doubt they enjoy Romeen's blogging too much coz he's too chilled out for them! But then, he is playing on arguably the number 1 team in Division 1 this year so far, and having a pretty good season too!
Any tips about the Royals? I saw them fielding last Sunday. They are definitely the best fielding side in Division 1, and probably the league. Phoenix trys to work hard on it's fieling, but nothing compared to those guys!!
"Tango, S_D, Simon, N_W, and Big Hitter are all fellas looking to provocate. I doubt they enjoy Romeen's blogging too much coz he's too chilled out for them!"
What? Thats bullcrap! Just because I say something that someone doesn't agree with, doesn't mean I'm being provocative.
Aditya, You're right...romeen is the Kool Kat in here... No wonder Wildcats are doing so well, coz he is the skipper.. (Romeen you better keep this in mind when you play against us...take it easy... :-) )
About Royals.. Definitely the premier fielding side, no doubt about that.. They seem like they are getting it together now, so I would take a cautioned approach.. First of all, good knock man...I'm glad you got into the thick of runs.. They have some good bowlers and some good batsmen.
As amazing as it gets. Two of my favorite teams won again: Peoria was always my favorite because they have players like Venkat and Madhu who are absoute treat to watch. But, the team that have won my heart this year is QC Kings. 6-0 isn't that a dream run for any team?.
One thing that amazes me about QC Kings is they won 6 in a row and none of their batsmen are in top 15....thats really weird. They have 2 bowlers and fielders in top-15 list...May be that's what their strong point is.
Madhu, Are you guys playing against each other this season. If so please let me know. I dont want to miss that (Peoria v/s QC Kings). Also, I know you are the captain of Peoria team. Who is the one for QC Kings?
I don't want to get into another mud-slinging contest.
Off and on, you been posting stuff that sure has minimal traces of intelligence and abundant hatred towards your fellow bloggers. Ofcourse, logic hangs at the mercy of those minimal traces.
So I'm just going to leave you alone till your stupidity eats you up.

Hello all,
Been a while...how have u all been doing? I pissed off so many folks last year...Hey...I did my duty. Thought I might play the nice guy this season. I like turning things around.
Wondering if Jack and Rup are going to turn things around as well.
How's Jack and Rup...good to know you guys are going to be back in Div 2 next year. Never heard from Jack all winter long. How's he doing and please request him to throw his statistics for this season...how many centuries is he going to score, how many fifties, and in what outfit is he going to lift the Div 2 trophy this year.
We are anxious to listen to Jack's gems.
Welcome back Simon d,
I am doing just fine.
Rup,
I really like your humble response this year, unlike last year.
Good luck for the trophy.
Are u playing night cricket this year? You think Flames will take you in given the hatred you have for the MCC management?
Please pull Jack into the blog. Let's all have fun.
i would'nt say humble, it was an hones answer.. no different from last year.
It's up to Jack when he want to start Blogging.
As for night tour I have not yet decided????.
As for management it's not hatred but my humble opinions and i hope it went across as positive energy rather than hatred.
oops...sorry Rup...my bad..."hatred" was too tough a word that I used.
n_w: Tango will not steal your predictions. Don't worry. I know him very well.
Pick's for week #7
1.St.louis is going to lose against Pak gym.
1.MCC
2.Pak gym
3.Wildcats
4.Challengers
5.United
6.Muslim gym
7.Rogers park
8.Purdue & Phoenix will fight for the last spot but i think Purdue will make it agiin this year.
i predict upsets this week st louis is strong at home and will beat pak gym in a close one. capitol will beat wc with 1 or 2 individual performances. phoenix teamwork will overcome united. flames inflict first loss on milw. mu win against bears n bears beat chargers. royals will beat aaa. lets see how many of these come true ;).
Where are you Tango? N_W are you guys coming tonight at chasers?
will be fun as I will be there with RUP and SHEKHS... not sure if Romeen is coming ..

I will post my stats after you post yours..
Chally,
Hey good to see u back online.
Good luck with your season.
Only thing I will add is that Cricket is a team sport and if Tendulkar does not win the game he surely sets up the stage for the later order batsman to finish teams off.
s_d,
Are you trying to start a wrong line of conversation.
If is unwritten for us then what is the rule for bloggers like you who judge individuals or team as the strive to accomplisg their aspirations??.
==========================
"We, the fellow bloggers, follow that rule in letter and in spirit".
This is pure horse crap coming from you.
==============================
Recently, Jessica Alba told Cosmopolitan magazine, "I am up for a one night stand".
This is big news for all the Alba followers.
Why is this not on FOX or CNN? They are bloody covering Paris Hilton's jail saga for almost five hours everyday.
Gives me another reason for hating the media and their double standards!
Simon D ... please spare WE THE BLOGGERS from your personal vengance against Rup and Jack.
We the people really don't care what ICC said last year about wanting to win it all.
Thanks
Rup my friend, you got things mixed up. Its ok for us to bash ICC for self-appreciation, I think that's perfectly allowed given the boasting that ICC usually involves in. Two early season lossess have curtailed your instincts this year. Also, the drubbing last year in the SF's taught you some hard lessons, much more effectively than what fellow bloggers tried to inculcate.
Fellow bloggers don't brag about their victories and statistics. that's ICC's monopoly.
Get clear and move forward.
tonald, u are spared :)
here we go again like last season rup n jack boasting and simond pissin em off, stop it guys!
tonald I agree and disagree...
agree its a team game and I am big on that but you play the game and there are times the stage is set for you to come in and take the game over..
Viv richard made 179 not out out of 280 or so and this was done with the last wicket thats when big time players step up.. ... Any way enough of tendy nice guy not a stud in my book.. give me Dravid any day

United - Phoenix - United rip through spinless Phoniex batting. rising from the ash, once again proven to be a myth.
-----------------------------------
nw, I agree that as a unit, batting has not clicked .. but spineless may be a bit harsh. Priyank showed tremendous application while batting last week against Purdue. We have had a couple of good performances from individuals, but we havent performed well as a team. I hope you said this to motivate us :)
Has anybody played Gopi from United? Any details about him would be greatly appreciated.
hehehe Jaggibaba, gopi is our secret weapon...he is right arm leg break...
any updates for la open. who's going and who's not...or it's up to shohil and tariq to decied who's going? if it's up to shohil then he is taking loosing team again as usual.
i hope they choose player on basis of 20/20 game...shohil if you need help with it let blogger know.we will help you out picking up team. for once give up your captainship for la open and try something different this year.
we will lose in la no matter what team is sent. cant compete with int'l stars we can only hope to beat us league teams like last time.
and mr jack did you step up when your semi final was on the line last season?

BTW, either of you guys actually making it to Chasers this evening(along with Romeen), to discover the identity of the Secret Blogging Men?
c8w
that batsman was dumb not to watch the hand of bowler anyway no matter what someone tells u.
I have to be at O'hare at 8:00 to pick up a friend. I will try to stop by at chasers before that. I wouldnt want to miss the first bloggers gettogether !!
I will be there for sure to party with RUP and others..;)
waiting for Tango and N_W to join!!
It's been while I have on the blog posting, but i have been reading this and having fun. Past few days been interesting..
Just wanted to let Jaggi, C8W, Romeen, Rup and Shekhs know that I will be at Chasers around 7-7.30pm today.

Royals
Awesome Vipul..
Thanks Jaggi for making time..will see you all around 7-7:30 tonite..
I'm getting off now...
Will talk to you soon.

-------------
Jaggi, thats what i meant exactly. other than trying offent you. phoenix got lot of good batters but they just throw away their wickets. so for me its not lack of ability but lack of application and belief which is stored in spinal code. :))
Predictions:
Pak Gymkhana over St.Louis
United over Phoenix
Milwaukee United over Bears
Purdue over Rogers Park
Milwaukee CC over Flames
Wildcats over Capitol
AAA over Royals
Bears over Chargers.
ND, unless the Milwaukee United game gets washed out, we can't be tied this week.

Shiv should have tried a leg-break next ball.
-Samarth.
####
Has anybody played Gopi from United? Any details about him would be greatly appreciated.
####
He is bald.
-Samarth.
Jaggi,
NW is right.
Mehul,
I'd love to send my son Rahul who does have great potential in bowling & batting, but still too young (6 yrs) :)
I had put him in coaching with Atul Bedade camp (in Baroda, Gujarat) & MCA (Maharastra Cricket Academy) for few weeks when he was there few weeks back. Thanks for the info...
Samir
And I didn't even mention Athreya, the century maker :)

Point(reg Phoenix batting) taken Tango !! Lets hope that we turn the corner this weekend :)
Samarth, thanks for the tip dude. It was smooth and clean :)
Big_Shitter,
Relax dude, its Friday!!!
My predication for this week
1. St Louis. because Pak gives walkover like last year.
7. Royals. AAA should join Phoenix in Div 2
8.Chargers & bears. Irfan alone isn't enough. Next year the Charges should go to Div 2.
Tingoo,
Wait till I shit on your team. Then you will really know what big means!! Or wait, have I played Phoenix already? hmmmmmmm.....
Friday or not, your crap always stinks!!
bh, I disagree. I admit I have seen very little of Aditya.. but, have liked what I have seen. He was very solid against Pak(when Raheel and Farman were firing it in.. that game got rained out). Yes, he has not made runs this season, but I do believe that he has tremendous talent.
"Tingoo,"
haaahaa, Tingoo, Pingoo, Chingoo...what a comedy, haa haa.
"Wait till I shit on your team."
haahaa, u shit on my team, but u don't clean up, so u'r panties get dirty...haa haaa, u so funny!
"Or wait, have I played Phoenix already? hmmmmmmm.."
Yes, Yes, Challenger play Phoenix week number 1. Sanjay Patel have good game also. He rape Phoenix.
Dickro, I go now. You have fun.
Please. Aditya is one of most over-rated batsman. I hear ppl say good things about batting, but in my opinion, he is very ordinary! He hasn't made centurys.

Jaggi,
Thank god u r not a talent scout. becuz u r wasting your time and ours. u may be good player, but not scout. Pak Gym game he was lucky. few more overs, and yet another failure... as usual.
Story of why big_shitter dislikes Aditya............ read on.
big shitter on the highway picking up shit,
down came Aditya and broke shitter's d..k,
aahh!! said shitter I had only one,
Now !! said Aditya, u have none.
well i have seen aditya batting. he may not be the best but certainly in top 20 batters in the league, talent wise of course.
And I'm not aditya so stop guessing game. we played that yeasterday.
Naveen,
Another phoenix player stand up for Aditya.

Its still pretty early this season, much too small a sample-size to judge anything, surely? (So far this season Shahid Munir isnt in the Top Fifteen rungetters in the league! Does anyone seriously think he wont be there by the time the season ends?)
We had one full season of sample-size last year - which happened to be Aditya's first season in Division One (the previous year, in Div2, he was easily one of the best batsmen in the division, in the top 3 or 4 in runs IIRC). Last year, at the end of the season, Aditya was #18 in runs in Division One with 4 fifties. (Simran Sodhi was #15 with 335 runs, Aditya had 328 runs, 7 runs fewer).

hey folks,
phew...MUCC has finally got a victory...feels good to get some points against your name.
We are slowly building some momentum going in to the crucial 2 months of the league season with imp games like those agst Wildcats coming up very shortly....hopefully we can sustain it and get back to consistency and winning ways.
good luck to Bears for a good game and Romesh Kadlec, good job buddy with the officiating.

any other updates?

Future opponents of Continental beware - the prolific Nasir Yemani has returned to them from Hyderabad, probably for the rest of the season (he made a rapid 50+ today, from what I was told).
c8w
good going Phoenix. and now I hope all the Phoenix bashers will keep quite about them being spineless, they certainly showed that they may be under rated but when thier batsmen click they can win any match they want.
In related news, it is rumoured that the entire Phoenix team is going to register on the blog with anonymous nicknames, just to make sure they can *all* anonymously bash Aditya's batting every Friday before they play :-)

Aditya go ahead and come clean. you are busted my friend. nice handle though...bragging about your self under an alias not very sporting my friend. but you did score this weekend so don't hide behind your nick anymore come out in the open and brag about youself.
be a man and you can certainly back it up!
I also think Tango is from Phoenix. Any Gujarati Mumbaikar's in that team?
What happened in stl-pak game, seems like no one wants to put any summary or any news.
Also, let me show u some of Tango's posts to illustrate my point that Tango and I are 2 separate people:

Wildcats - Romeen
Flames - Kiran

Milwaukee United - Prasad
Purdue - Pradeep
Who are the others?

But your team shouldn’t blame Sadiq. Sadiq sajjan dikro che….sajjan manne, peaceful. He’ll always listen to the side with the louder voice.
Ps. My Gunglish is a little weak.
===================================
Your thoughts Tango?

What do people think of st. louis? are they for real? All the games they played in st. louis they won quiet easily. both the losses came on road.
i know what you did last summer but i'm a few grey cells short of understanding the truth,
Have you ever considered the possibility that there may be some folks who use similar grammar and language to me? Or is that too much for you to comprehend? Obviously logic and reason is not for you. So, I'm done with you and your "opinion". Think what you will.
By the way, how come you still haven't told me who you are???? C'mon, you're man enough to do that, aren't you?

Nicely done. Your identity remains hidden and you can continue to laugh in your anonymity at this. If I were in your position, I'd be cracking up as well!!
Now I'm curious to figure out who you are!! ;-)
Wow, looks like Pak Gym lost. And by the looks of it, pretty badly - by 10 wickets.
any updates for today's games?
c8w can u give the updates for the game played this week in div 1 plz.
I still believe in the words "When Boys play Baseball...MEN play cricket".
desi_cricketer,
Nope, this thread is certainly not a Division 1 thread, its for everybody.
I think its starting to look better this season..
I'm glad you stepped up and wrote something..
STL V/s Pak Gymkhana game score:
Pak Gymkhana - 96 all out.
STL - 97 for no loss in 15.5 overs.
I told you all that pak gym team is over-rated
Arsenal vs ICC
Arsenal won the toss and elected to bat first.
Thanks,
--Narasimha
I watched some ganes at WP on Sunday, Bears WON and I think Royals also WON aginst AAA. Opener not sure who was he, scored some 40-45 and someone in middle order scored some 70-80 to WIN. Sadiqbhai was doing the Umpiring.. Any input on that game Sadiqbhai?
d_d,
you never showed up @ Chasers dude.. :-)
Whats up with that?
Sorry I mean GAMES !! way to early for me !!
Narasimha I know you would have traded the 2 catches you took for the first one... but those two you took was great...
Got to give it to collin though he played some AWESOME shots..
I was there buddy.. I saw Sadiq and Jaggi standing out on LOT.. I was inside at that time alone !! hiding !!! I left right after you, Tushar and Vipul came with Sadiq and Jaggi .. he he he ..
Shekhs,
Thanks for your reply. I agree with you that its upto the teams to report the results for the games.
CAPTAINS, PLAYERS please report your results here. Win or lose share your results. People read this blog a lot. Get the information they are looking for.

d_d,
hmm...I thought you were gonna join us..
maybe you were one of us.. :-)
I think its too early on monday morning to play guessing games..
sadiqbhai, are you there ? please provide some game summery on AAA Vs Royals
Shekhs..
you will be really suprise when you will find out who I am !!
keep GUESSSSSSING..
Cheers
Madhu Reddy

Just to add to what Naren said earlier, the capitol guys were very accomodating. We took the train there and back and were under time constraints and they worked with us to get the game done in time.
BTW, if some of you guys want to consider taking the train to springfield, I think its a good idea. The only caveat is that if its late, it could be a problem.
Romeen,
'Cats are off to a great start this year.
The middle played smartly and aided by a few chances got to 138
It was even hotter when our turn came to bat so we figure get it over with quickly and lets go party for fathers day.
We lost an early wicket but Colins took the Arsenal bowling apart and we got the target in just 20 overs.
He got a couple chances but played some superb shots.
He was helped by Jack and my flying 21 off about 10 balls.
Prediction battle,
Guess who won this week fellas?
Tango: 5-3
N_W: 4-4 (Kiss my ass ND!)
Justice for all: 3-5
I purposely excluded Big_Shitter (5-3), because he ruined a perfectly friendly blog on Friday.
That makes me the sole champion.
"I am the champion - my friends
And I'll keep on fighting - till the end -
I am the champion -
I am the champion
No time for losers (knock knock N_W)
'Cause I am the champion - of the world -"
Aditya,
Thanks for the kind words.
Congratulations on your big innings and your win over the weekend.
I dont know if there's any secret, I guess its a combination of team effort and some luck. But again, its early days, the key is to be able to keep this up. We'll see.
Look forward to our last game of the regular season :)

Two or three very one-sided games this week in Div1 (Bears put up only 80 against MUCC, PakGym shocking put up only 96 against St Louis, and Flames I think put up only 110 against Milwaukee).
c8w
LOL tango,
your ass still alive. i thought you got beaten to death at chasers. anyway celebrate my child till next weekend.
anyway some big upsets over the weekend.
BEARS lost to MU -
DA BEARS should change
their name to PUSSYCAT DOLLS.
AAA lost to ROYALS -
i bet ICC would have been better team in DIV 1 :)

PURDUE 352/6 and DA BEARS 328/5. i guess high temp and dry grounds really taking a toll on bowlers.
neandy try pak 96/10 its hottest in stL.

n_w,
the party was fun...about 6 of us..talked about the blog, league etc..
We figured who you were.. :-)
I think it will be cool to have this once in a while..different place..
Shekhs,
Next time I will sure stop by and say hi .. ;) sorry had to run away as I didn't see anyone else like Tango or N_W there..
C8W, Nice game summery, no one can be as descriptive as you are sir.. always fun to read.
Shekhs, I'm up for the next blog party too (if invited ofcourse :)
No, what the heck, I'll just crash the party.
Romeen,
Consider yourself officially uninvited..:-) so that you can crash in..
Hey Good knock this weekend! Keep it real!

d_d,
yeah, please do stop by and say Hi, dont have to disclose your nick...
45 over conundrum..
ADDY,
nice roster for LA open although we dont know about some of them. i'm surprised you barely made it to final 13.

Jaggi and the rest of Phoenix made us look like idiots for calling them spineless.

i know. did you show up at chasers?
Hell no!
Didn't Sadiq say Purdue is going to much worse this year?
Why isn't anyone holding his feet to the fire?
HYPOCRISY! Always pick on the anonymous guys :)
so rup..every year you grow older 5 overs down the drain...i guess in 9 years two teams meet would meet up at WP and just toss to find the winner and go home. oh, i can't wait for that day.:))
So rup, each year we will reduce it by 2 ? :-)
That gives us more beer time too..!
Tango,
as nice as he is, sadiq got his favorites. but in my opinion his remarks up for interpretation as much as his LBWs. but to hit 350 you gotta have some balls
Adnan,
Can you let us know what and how the petition you all filed that got you a spot to send a team to the LA open.
I will like to see if i can get in a team as I checking sponsors out?.
From the looks of your team looks like MWCC was not used on your Bid?.
Totally!
Scoring 350 is no joke..

Part true, the come to the ground spin the toss and the looser pays for all the drinks the drank that day..no cricket!!!

Nice to know there are others thinking like me.
------------------------
Unless these Div one teams start recruiting young blood they may not even have a team much less spin the toss.
I guess the ultimate goal of the trophy will end up killing their Team. Recruiting of older players instead of trying to groom young guys.
I wonder what is the Avg age of some of the top teams.
Pak has to be around 35.
Wild cats around 35 ( Romeen?)
Bears up there also. Add 9 years to this and wow 44..who can you win then?
If the teams get older, they'll get relegated anyways. So whats the big deal?
Decreasing the game by five overs ain't going to protect you from the heat.
MWCC is a highly competitive league, and those who can't play for this long, should probably play in a different league, or play 30-30.
im with c8w proper cricket is 45/50 ovs 40 ov is good too but if u reduce from that then that is a joke not cricket. you can stay home n drink beer ;) and watch cricket on tv or play it on stickcricket.com. or only play 20-20.
rumour has it mgmt going to redude 45 to 40 soon.
shorter the game weaker the cricket going to be. if we can't put up with heat what we can do, in the middle of the season, say JULY and AUG, we can play 40 then we can go back to 45 overs. so this will give up like seven 40 overs games and seven 45 overs games.
just felt like to be constructive for once.
And the idea of a 50 over Final is absurd!

ROMEEN,
WHAT WE SHOULD DO IN NEXT AGM IS NOT AN ISSUE. WHO GIVES YOU AN AUTHORITY TO CHANGE THE GAME TO 35 OVERS? I AM SURPRISED THAT BEING A SENIOR TEAM YOU GUYS COME UP WITH SUCH A LAME EXCUSE. BUT THEN YOU HAVE ALWAYS COME UP WITH LAME EXCUSES TO SUIT URSELF.
anhonest
MGMT should take a decision about reduced overs games. I dont think concensus between two captain (as it happens now) shouldn't be enough to do that.
Madew,
Thanks for nice words about us.
BTW, your stand and deliver stuff was brilliant.
Ram,
Having played with Eagles for 4 years, one thing I can say that you guys have a trumendous potential, it's just a matter of one win and you guys will be back in business! It's great to see Subbu in a great form (as usual) :)
In my opinon, it should be 45 overs. I'd be the last person to say this since keeping 45 overs takes a toll on you at the end of the day but it brings out the best of cricket. It's just my thought!!

---------
Well, Iam a radical in a lot of different points of view - this is one of them I guess :-) I think longer games offer the best cricket (I also happen to be one of the last people left on earth who actually prefers test matches to ODI matches, thats how silly some of my views are :-) TO me the best, the most competitve, the *fairest* form of cricket is the 45-50 overs, not 20 or 30.

Here! Here! Someone finally agrees with me :)

C8w,
Let me remind you that Shiva is uh, lets just say older than some of us, and yet he plays Division 1 games.
Which teams in Division I, other than the Bears, Wildcats, and maybe Muslim Gymkhana, can be labeled as 'old'?
Please don't tell me, 35 year olds can't play in the sun for too long? Thats such a cop out!
As Sadiq said, we have just gotten used to the 45-over format, taking a step back will be truly idiotic.
We need to recruit younger talent to maintain the status of our league, not degrade the quality of cricket to accommodate aging cricketers.
Romeen,
Just had a look at the points table, looks like you are yet to receive 2 pts for the rained out game agst Rogers' park.....or are you rescheduling the game....anyway see you all this weekend.....and congrats on an awesome season so far, you guys are on a roll.
Aditya,
Good innings man....we had a horrendous time playing here in Milwaukee on saturday....we took 2 breaks one each after 15 overs and guys from Bears had to get water alomst every other over....I can just imagine how horrible it would have been in chicago and Purdue....and you folks (purdue, bears and phoenix) put up, 352, 328 and 281....it takes some fitness and concentration.
sharath
40 overs vs 45 overs, why not check on TIME.. We start the game here in Chicago Area at 10.00 am. Did anyone ever wanted that to move UP little bit say 9.00 or 9.30 am ... This may help some "OLD" or FAMILY" guys to get going little early..
just my 2 cents...
FAMILY....LOL,
Sorry to pick on you Rup, but your always complaining about, 'how MWCC limits the time you get to spend with your family'.
If thats the case, then how come you end up playing 20-20 every year? Since you aren't required to participate, shouldn't you be spending that time with your family?
Common Rup, these are all excuses. I used to be the master of excuses back in school. You aren't going to fool Tango!
rup is always complaining abt somethin ;)
Tango,
Chill on Rup man. He's playing the 20-20 with us this year!! Don't try and pursuade him out. We want him to play.
I know you're supposed to be me, and you've been trying to lay a chill pill on big hitter, but don't be messing with our 20-20 team man!!!
Tango,
You are one provocative....fella..
:-)
You are definitely single...and under aged..as you stated earlier..
Hey did you play last weekend?
Aditya,
Ok, I won't pick on Rup anymore. But you (and by you, I mean, me) should treat him like a 'Banda'. He loves it.
Shekhs,
Don't remember if I played this weekend man. I have a very bad memory.
Shekhs said,

Can we add stupid to this also cause he can act like a fool sometimes.

I play 20/20 because it does not affect my family life.
Sharath,
Thanks for the encouragement.
Deccan,
I think the only reason people talk about Div 1 more in the blogs is because there are more Div 1 bloggers and so they follow Div 1 games more than Div 2 games.
And I very much enjoy Romeen's blogging.
Did I just provoke you Tango? My bad!!! :-)
I will say though, I do agree with some of the points you make. But then... we do know why that is, don't we? ;-)
Aditya,
You're right...romeen is the Kool Kat in here...
Tango getting more stupid by the min..
If I say you win will you stop being stupid and go back to being a fool???
As amazing as it gets. Two of my favorite teams won again: Peoria was always my favorite because they have players like Venkat and Madhu who are absoute treat to watch. But, the team that have won my heart this year is QC Kings. 6-0 isn't that a dream run for any team?.
One thing that amazes me about QC Kings is they won 6 in a row and none of their batsmen are in top 15....thats really weird. They have 2 bowlers and fielders in top-15 list...May be that's what their strong point is.
Madhu,
Are you guys playing against each other this season. If so please let me know. I dont want to miss that (Peoria v/s QC Kings). Also, I know you are the captain of Peoria team. Who is the one for QC Kings?
Thanks
Pranav
Forget it Banda,
I don't want to get into another mud-slinging contest.
Off and on, you been posting stuff that sure has minimal traces of intelligence and abundant hatred towards your fellow bloggers. Ofcourse, logic hangs at the mercy of those minimal traces.
So I'm just going to leave you alone till your stupidity eats you up.
