Did Somebody mention MUCC lost, so they don't have to play WC ?
Isn't this little to early?

Balaji said...

Since Bears won, its MUCC's worst nightmare come true, correct ?

Balaji said...

Chiquita,
You are right about every game in play-off matters regardless of the opposition. (tushar mentioned the same)
It'll be interesting to see how it goes in the next couple of weeks.

You have more than 'one' way of getting people to write here

Thanx for your invitation and warm welcome to the blog-spot ;-:

hey flames did an upset? hum they bowled out milwaukee for 75 runs and i am sure they will make 75 in less then 7 overs, good set up going into playoffs, feel sorry for muslim though

A very disappointing day guys.. Pak Gymkhana gave a walkover to the Chargers. They were aware of the implications of this game and still chose to not show up with 7. We as a team, have had a bad year, but didnt expect to get out of Div-1 this way.

We beat the Chargers in the regular season. If this game was rained out(IIT VS AAA was rained out and played in WP), they would have had same points as us and since we beat them in the regular season, we would have stayed.

I am all for penalizing teams that give walkovers. Its pretty sad !! Anotehr thing we should be discussing for next season.

Ramsundar Lakshminarayanan said...

Eagles are out of the playoffs...although the teams that were contending for the last few stops are good, walkover made is very simple for them and ruled us out.

Good luck to all Div 2 teams in the playoffs...I'd say watch out for Chicago Giants and Peoria CC.

Ramsundar Lakshminarayanan said...

Jaggi,

Sorry to hear that you are coming down to Div 2...Pls don't take your anger on div 2 teams with Asela in your lineup.

walkover made it*

Tushar - call it a long weekend hangover

Ramsundar Lakshminarayanan said...

Tushar - also lots of walkovers...nothing much to enter!

From what i have heard head to head does not come into play this year. Instead the positions are decided solely based on NRR. Please check this and correct me if I am wrong.
-----------------------------------
Point well taken. Will find out more about this and get back.

I think the idea put forth by Tonald is really good. Something that the Mgmt should consider. If he can put this up on the idea page that will be great.

Jaggi told me that once the season is over, the Mgmt will certainly look at all the ideas on the page seriously.

hari said...

tonald,
please send it to blog@midwestcricket.org. One of us volunteers will post it on the Idea Page for you.Thank You. -- Hari

Jaggi said...

Guys.. I have been constantly looking at the idea page and it certainly contains good suggestions. We will definitely talk about this in the off-season. Please continue the brain storming.

Raheel said...

Guys, there was no "Mercy Rule" - we were ready to play if the weather allowed, however, if you woke up at around 9am Sunday in the Chicago area and looked outside the window, you would immediately have thought there was no chance of cricket being played on the day - as it proved (see Lakshmi’s description of AAA vs IIT match also played on WP, abandoned after 21 overs for fear of injuries). We had 3 players available at the WP (including the captain) to check if there was any chance of play they would've called the others and we would definitely have played since everyone can use match practice before the all important play offs! Chargers were not saved by our so called 'Mercy Rule', they were saved by the elements if you wanna look at it that way and even then who knows, they might have beaten us (it’s one day cricket after all). Even if instead of a Walkover it was a Rained-out decision, Chargers would've stayed in Div 1 (superior NRR) and Tigers would've been relegated just like now, so it does not make a difference.

On the day, the difference between a walkover and rained-out decision would not have changed anything on the points table - in both cases we would've stayed at #1 and Chargers at #15 - the only difference was that we didn't wanna get 4 players outta bed on a Sunday morning to come all the way to WP in rain, just so we can have a formally rained-out decision and 2 points (which were pointless at that stage).

Bottom line is that instead of blaming us, the relegated team(s) should either blame the rain or their own performances over the season.

P.S. 'for a few dollars more', you need to get a life, seriously. Are you the same person who suggested that we bribe umpires (J Greene) too?

Raheel said...

Raheel said
"the only difference was that we didn't wanna get 4 players outta bed on a Sunday morning to come all the way to WP in rain"
----------------------------

Raheel thats one of the most ludicrous statements of the year.
How can you not be up and ready, if you have a game?
---

Because it was WET everywhere you looked and I don't know how IIT and AAA played 21 overs with everyone slipping etc. As a fast bowler (and I know that my captain will back me up on this) I don't want to slip and injure something one week before playoffs just so we could satisfy people like you who say play at all costs - a meaningless match. Yes, we are #1, if that gives us the power to give someone a walkover and the receiving team has no qualms about it, then so be it - we have earned that power by playing damn good cricket all season. All you crying out 'unfair' should have won more often in the season and not rely on someone else's results to save your behinds.

Rup, in international cricket there is a PAYING AUDIENCE (spectators at the ground and TV audiences vs MWCC where we're lucky to get 2 men and a dog passing by) and the players are PAID to play, so that comparision is silly - we're paying here to play cricket and as much fun as it is, I definitely will not play on a wet outfield and rain in the air (neither do international teams).

As someone hit the nail on the head: no one has a problem with awarding walkovers unless their ass is on the line or it is a top team doing it - no one complained about Rivercity, several teams did it in Div 2 and not one word! I don't know why some people have an issue with everything that Pak Gym does - from suggesting that we pay the umpires to getting paid by the walkover receiving teams; un-effing-believeable! Lets move on to the playoffs guys!

Raheel said...

'as mad as a wounded lion right now.'

Rup, you mean wounded tigers ;). Well eventually the game was gonna be rained-off and in that case too, Tigers would've stayed at #16 so the only one they should be mad at is the entity who controls the weather! We as players or cricketers in MWCC have no obligation whatsoever to anyone but ourselves and if we didn't wanna play I say its our right - you try and make us play! ;)

Vipul Patel said...

Liked that one Mr Cool... or I would say Mr. FOOL!!!

Just joke!

Raheel said...

Yes, I also heard about the 'indecent incident' - that should be more of a concern for you people and the league rather than picking on teams who give walkovers!

Ramsundar Lakshminarayanan said...

Ali - Thanks for your wishes.

Just a clarification:
We are disappointed at not qualifying for the playoffs. I wouldn't put the blame on walkovers. Given the current MCC rules, giving a walkover is a team's right. Teams do it only if they don't have anything to loose. There's nothing wrong with it.

We ourselves are to blame for not making it to the playoffs.

This is not life and death...big deal. There's always "a next time".

Jaggi said...

"Jaggi, looks like you only choose to get involved in non-controversial matters. That Pak vs Ind game matter is also lost in thin air and so will this one. "
----------------------------------
Game played in the ACC ground: An email with the explaination will be sent out real soon. It was delayed due to reasons that I would not like to get into.

Lawsuit: Adnan and Akbar filed a lawsuit last year. When Tariq asked me to be the general secretary this year, I was very clear from the very beginning that I was not going to get involved in the lawsuit.

I volunteered my time to make sure that we have a good season and so far we have had a pretty good one. Can it get better... absolutely. There have been a couple of good things this year and there are more planned for the next.

Have I received compliments .. absolutely. Have I received abuses, absolutely. I know in my heart that I am there to help this league out in any which way that I can. I have always welcomed suggestions and criticism. I tend to ignore some of the comments from people that have no clue what they are saying(like 68...).

I am going to focus my energy on the positive things rather than all the speculation.

Raheel, I did not intend to blame you guys for what happened to us. Am sorry if it came out that way. Wounded Tigers... yes definitely :)

In the last couple of months, I have noticed that there are a certain few that only criticize and few that just want to help improve this league. I get inspired from the latter !!

Good luck to all the teams that are in the playoffs.

Raheel said...

When will the playoff schedule be posted Jaggi? It's cool - you don't need to apologize :). On another note how many people find the Farhat-Greene incident funny and how many of you are outraged?

Vipul Patel said...

Knowing Farhat, I think it's Funny!!

SimonDispatch said...

ICC badly needs Joe Greene in the elite panel of umpires. Last I heard they served him goat curry/roti over the weekend.

Kudos to Farhat for putting his sanctity on the line to drive Joe Greene out. Good for MCC.

straight_drive said...

The league has to show some balls here (like Farhat did so literally). We want to ban people for a year for playing in another league, but no action against someone who shows his d*** to the umpire and fellow players? It is also a criminal offense by the way. Indecent exposure in public. I say ban Farhat not just for playoffs but a few matches next year too and throw Muslim out of this season's playoffs. A captain is responsible for the team so both should be banned.

straight_drive said...

If there was an exchange of hot words, that still doesn't mean that you bare it all.

Jaggi said...

Jaggi, I feel bad for you. You and Hari have done some tremendous things this year, I absolutely love the idea page. I have posted quite a few ideas and love the other ideas out there. It is a shame that a certain few do not understand your contribution and are out there talking irresponsibly. You rock dude !! Continue the good work.

straight_drive said...

Did someone apart from Joe Greene actually see Farhat exposing himself to Greene? So far all the eye-witnesses have said they did not see this being done, just Farhat pointing to it.

straight_drive said...

(until Jessica Alba starts playing in our league... after which I think there should be no penalties of any kind for pants-dropping in front of umpires).

Don't you mean until JA starts umpiring in our league? ;)

cricketer411 said...

i would like to know who saw the pants drop beside joe green, the man cant see a ball hittin 3 stumps from few feet imagine him seeing a Ding dong from the middle of the field, while walkin off to take a 15 min break for himself. Yes there were arguements, entire leauge is aware of his lbw decision not to mention caught behinds, well i believe ur senses are little slow when u show up tipsy. We at muslim are are not worried about the incident bcuz it never occured, yes farhat pointed at his "weapon" ahah but nothing more that was after joe gettin personal. Yes Farhat has a short fuse, but that dont give me a rite to snap at an ump. As an umpire u cant get abusive towards any players once joe started Frenching Farhat started Punjabi lol. Thats as far as it went, For those people who want muslim to be disqualified for this action, i have seen worse on and of the field. I agree umpires should have more power, but umpires should be trained better and all the bad umps shouldnt' be allowed to ump crucial matches, No one is perfect but there are complains about Joe from years this is not the 1st incident involving him. Even united batmans said " i didnt clip the ball, neither was 1 foward i dont know why he didnt give me out, so i cant walk" and if i was in his shoes i wouldnt walk either. That game was a important game for us it could have costed us our season. Eventually we lost and still made the playoffs thank god for that!!! As far as Adnan being criticized for not taking a stand on a incident that never occured due to politics. He could have easily given us a walk or a win for a vote, he is man of respect and honor he gave us a fight and won the battle, for all u thrash talkers thatz a fact live with it cry with shove it up ur A$$ with it:)
moe muslim
good luck to all the teams in playoff and raheel good job on takin a stand for ur team:) yaar let ur guys sleep this sunday also i will take to u all to sabri aound 2 sounds fair:)

SimonDispatch said...

Hey Ram, Giving a walkover is a team's right. No doubt about it. I agree with u.

But Div 1 situation is *seriously* different from Div 2. Chargers requested Pak Gymkhana to lose...Few phone calls were infact made...The request, or begging in other words, had a religious tone to it...and also money changed hands.

The request is known to few individuals in the MCC management.

It was cheap shot. Raheel is very defensive in his response. Also look at his stupid excuse...not wanting to wake up 4 guys from bed!!! That was the dumbest excuse one would ever hear. That's what is expected from his tribe.

He wants the bloggers to focus on Farhat incident to divert attention. But the fact is, Pak Gymkhana and Chargers were involved in match fixing (or should I say walkover fixing). There may not be any evidence...but there's no smoke without fire.

I urge the MCC management to initiate an investigation of this incident. MCC should amend its rules that calls for ban on teams and players involved in match fixing.

I think Rup is right when he brought in the "ethics" issue. Play the game the way its supposed to be played.

Pak Gymkhana is the most hated team in the league. Its very obvious what part of "Pak Gymkhana" that is hated the most.

SimonDispatch said...

get something done on this
match fixing incident as well...involving Pak Gymkhana and Chargers

i agree with the law and adnan, rather then making rich attorneys richer, most of us are educated enough to see if there is anything funky in the books, we dont need to waste our funds to pay for suits against each other, most of our players are students and barely can offord to pay there share of the team dues, raising the fees to pay for legals fees is a waste, this money can be used for better grounds and officials in my opinion. The law u should really follow thru with ur words, i am willing to help in anyway i can so feel free to contact me if u need any. Adnan we would really love for this leauge to grow and provide better playing standards, after all we all are playing for fun not national recognition, infact most of us loose money from jobs, buisness to play but we love the game:) by raising fees we will only discourage youngster and i am not blaming you for it, The mgmt has to provide proper use of funds. I know they volunteer there time but if they cant do it rite i am sure someone else will:)

Raheel said...

You guys are pathetic Mr. Simon and the-law, it is club cricket in Chicago, not world cup you idiots! Match fixing and money changing hands and walkovers given, under the table deals! - what the f**k!? Dude we all love the game, thats why we play - as for the betterment of the game and wishy washy stuff like that its all crap. What are you gonna do? Become a coach? We work on weekdays and play for fun on weekends and go home - that is what cricket in Chicago is.

You guys have been watching too many Bond movies or something. Chill the hell out! Seriously, tell me how many matches were completed in Chicago this Sun? NONE - so ok our match gets rained out - whats the effect on the points table? NONE! Chargers would still be #15 and Tigers #16 (Due to NRR). Why can't you get these facts through your thick heads?! It is easy to hide behind an anonymuos ID and take cheap shots at someone, I suggest if you have any balls you make all those allegations (pretty serious) to our face and provide some proof otherwise STFU. This is getting old guys - just move on!

Jaggi said...

Guys.. when I initially put my post, I was under the impression that if two teams were equal on points, then we would look at head-to-head record. If the two teams didnt play each other, then we look at run rate.

Yes, I didnt find that rule on our website. Either, I had too much Bacardi when I wrote my initial post or we missed that piece when the rules were rewritten this year(Lost in translation).

Under the current rules, teams have the option to give a walkover and not be penalized. Its obvious that some people think its fine and some dont. There is no point in extending this debate any further for this season. We can all discuss about how we want to handle this for next year in the off-season.

Lets concentrate on the playoffs. The playoffs for both divisions will start this weekend.

Div-1 playoff schedule is out. Div-2, not every team had entered their scores as of last night. We called up the teams that had not and have asked them to enter their scores.

Reg the Farhat incident, we are not in a position to comment till we get an official complaint from the umpire.
Typically, we wait till we get an official complaint. We investigate and then make a decision. I can guarantee you that the decision will be irrespective of who the person is.

Last night's game between Bears and Muslim was called off due to rain. It will be rescheduled. Today MDS playes Flames.. hoepfully the rain gods will show us some mercy.

Ramsundar Lakshminarayanan said...

Jaggi- You are magnanimous in your response. Yes, its true that giving a walk over is a team's right and I certainly believe in that. Pak Gymkhana had the right to give a walkover. In Div 2, few teams that got walkovers and made it to the playoffs were expected to win anyways. They are good teams. If what SimonDispatch says is true, then we have to device mechanisms to deter such practices. The challenge is to gather proof! I hope Pak Gymkhana's record is not blighted by their recent action, or rather inaction :)

This blog is a great forum to exchange ideas amongst other things. Hopefully focused effort, determined execution and steadfast support will help us all going forward.

Raheel said...

Rain is in the air at the wrong time of the season! We had a really hot summer and virtually no rained-off gamnes in Chicago and now at playoff time we're getting this weather - showers again forecast for today, tomorrow and Sun.

SimonDispatch said...

Raheel, Chiquita, Fawad

truth hurts, eh? Isn't that why you are all fuming? for getting exposed cheaply...what else can be expected from you guys?

I do not have any malicious intent. But its the actions of Pak Gymkhana and Chargers! Yes, there's no proof...but there's no smoke without fire.

This is read by people who matter to MCC. They'll do the needful.

Go figure out, morons.

Raheel said...

The fuming is because someone can actually imagine something like that! You tell me Simon - if we didn't give the walkover, what would be the position? Who would be in and who would be out of Div 1? SAME TEAMS! It's not that big of a deal, we play cricket for fun, I don't know what your deal is. The only smoke you see is coming out of your backside.

Raheel said...

You've been watching too many episodes of that 80's detective show: Simon & Simon :-p. It's just club cricket in Chicago - chill out man, it's not the World cup or Test Championship or something! I don't think it matters if Tigers or Chargers or Rivercity play in Div 2.

SimonDispatch said...

Raheel

My backside is outspoken!

Jaggi said...

The schedule is out.. http://www.midwestcricket.org/front_page/Playoffs-2006.htm.

Well, teams should take up that responsibility and enter scores ASAP. I also noticed that over the last couple of months, there are a lot of teams that have entered bad data. The opposition scores or their own scores are entered wrong. Definitely will tighten this for next year.

Please note that the playoff games start at 9:30am.

Jaggi said...

Tonight's game between Flames and MDS was cancelled due to rain. It is scheduled to b eplayed next week.

Jaggi said...

Dont think there was anything to it.. had to pick one day or the other, so, picked Sunday for Div-1!!

Raheel said...

Satha, you can bring tents and camp in Washington park overnight ;) JK

Raheel said...

Oh come on .. the city ain't that bad .. hehe.

Jaggi said...

Satha, we want to start playoff games at 9:30am. So, please make arrangements to come the previous day or leave early on game day. Also, plan around all the delays due to construction near Washington Park.

Raheel said...

Nasir, I can call my friends if you like, in fact one of them went on record to say that you were a 'cutie pie'.(their words, not mine!)

Are they gonna be at the night QF on thurs Romeen? ;)

Raheel said...

Raheel, if you promise to get as distracted as Nasir was the other day when he played us, I promise I'll call them for the thu nite game.
Romeen

Well, I can't do any worse, still wicketless in the night tournament (2 matches), so there's not a lot to lose, I'll take my chances ;).

Raheel said...

and raheel will probably be bowling a yard or two quicker....
if u know what i mean....
and that also might work for wildacts..... cause his line and lenth will get messed up then...

Au Contraire .. I might be bowling offspin to get the over done with and go field on the boundary :-p

Raheel said...

lol @ anonymous - thats hilarious!

Raheel said...

Pak's record in last 2 years has been:

2004: SF
2005: Final
2006: _____

You know where the trend is heading ;) hehe. Oh well, there 8 teams remaining and all have a lot of strong points to go all the way - should be interesting as the playoffs unfold.

Raheel said...

I think Rup talks like M Ali ;) he has already reserved the Div 2 trophy (might well win it too).

Raheel said...

Tushar, I think tomorrow the weather is fine in the afternoon / evening - showers in the morning may be.

Raheel said...

Ponting Fined for Showing Dissent: He was found guilty of 'showing dissent at an umpire's decision' by Chris Broad, the ICC match referee, breaching level 1.3 of the ICC Code after he reacted to Asad Rauf's decision to call a wide in the 33rd over of West Indies' innings.

Damn - at a wide call !? Wonder what woulda happened had he dropped his pants lol. Chris Broad (match referee) as you might remember is the same person who once refused to leave the crease after being given out by the umpire in a test.

straight_drive said...

pak did a coupel years a go fight with tigers then Shahid suspend coupel of games now they give a walk-over

Lol, that is amazing English (if you can call it that) or may be Sheroo is just drunk?

Raheel said...

Yep, right on MCC player.

Ramsundar Lakshminarayanan said...

Jaggi - Can we plan the annual banquet in October/November this year, instead of March next year?

Is there a specific reason why its hosted in March? Anyone???

MastaKilla said...

Can Someone please clear up why farhat dropped his pants?

MastaKilla said...

I believe their are going to be quite a few upsets this week for the Div II playoffs:

Arsenal vs. Madison = MADISON Wins
MDS vs Advancers = MDS Wins
Chicago Giants vs Q.C KINGS (AKA Q.C QUEENS)= Q.C KINGS Wins
Suburban vs Peoria = PEORIA WINS

Jaggi said...

Ram, the banquet dates will be out soon. We hope to have it this year.

I have been completely immersed in fixing the data for the net runrate. The good news is that we will have a div-1 vs div-2 all star game, the week after the finals(weather permitting). The team will be announced very soon. For next year, the plan is to take a weekend off and dedicate it to all-star games or mini-world cup and festivities.

Romeen, I definitely will show up to your games now ..:-)

Colored clothing.. sounds like a good idea to me. Rup, please add it to the idea page.

The night games start at 7:00pm.

Tushar, lets see how the weather plays out on Wednesday.

BTW, I did see that catch that Ajit took on the boundary. Definitely in the top 5 that I have seen in our league.

straight_drive said...

What happened to the plan of video taping the night matches (playoffs) and putting the highlights on the website? Is it planned or just an idea in the pipeline? Also, there should be multiple cameras installed for wildcats games when Romeen's 'friends' are there so we can catch all the action :-p. And there should be a censor board at hand in case Farhat is at the ground lol.

time_pass said...

Looks like Romeen and friends are gonna light up the much anticipated Thursday nite game..

Wonder why Gavaskar said cricket is boring to watch..

straight_drive said...

Wonder why Gavaskar said cricket is boring to watch..

He might have been watching one of his inns ;) probably the one (in a WC?) where he decided the target was too steep and opted for some batting practice.

time_pass said...

I think your picks look good, except for the Suburban Vs. Peoria game.

I think Peoria might pull this off..

time_pass said...

Just coz Peoria seems like they are playing good team cricket off late and Suburban has been a little dicy..

Just my opinion..

Raheel said...

Romeen, IMO you should always play your strength later. i.e. if you think your batting is your stronger point, do it later and vice versa (An example could be the Sri Lankan side of mid 90s who chased almost everything everytime!).

Raheel said...

Rup, a wet ball is also difficult to grip and control (esp. for spinners), if you have a couple of big hitters in your lineup, it really doesn't matter what pace the outfield is, however gripping a wet ball is a problem.

time_pass said...

Also, it gets tough to field in the second inning, given the fact that we dont have white lights.

Its also gonna be tough for the fielders to move around in the wet and slippery field.

time_pass said...

Yeah, you have a point there, but still "The lighter (around 7 ish) the better"..

time_pass said...

I've also noticed that its easy to pick up and throw, the first time, when fielding first.

While fielding the second inning..
It will be hard to pick the wet ball and also the outfield is wet to add to the misery of the fielder..

Jaggi said...

Porta-potties: Except the first couple of weeks, we have had porta-potties at WP. I realize its a trek, especially if you are playing in WP-3, but we are left with no choice. WP authorities will not let us get it any closer to the fields.

Playoffs: We are looking for volunteers to help us score, prepare grounds, umpire, help us with food etc. Please send an email to management@midwestcricket.org with your name and a contact no.

Jaggi said...

Romeen, personally i think its a bit harder to sight the ball when the sun is going down. Batting second, you will always be playing under the lights. Its harder to field (especially outfield) due to the dew. Both bowlers and batsmen are at a disadvantage with the wet ball, but, a wet WHITE is more of a disadvantage to the bowler than the batsmen. I prefer to chase !!

Raheel said...

Thats a valid point Romeen, even in Int'l 20-20 you never know whats enough batting first. I was looking at that SF scorecard from last year - Bakhshi scored 95 and Shahid 72 and no one else reached double figures!!

Jaggi said...

cricketandlife,

The question is who should be the selector(s)? Or shall we do a dream team sort of thing in all-star game too? i.e. let people send in enteries and select the players with most votes.

Raheel said...

Also, how many overs should be in the all-star match? 30, 40, 45, 50? Or a one inns test? i.e. you have to dismiss the whole team once ;).

straight_drive said...

How about Div1 winner vs Div2 winner or regular season winners in both Divisions (Pak Gym v ICC), this will also take care of the ICC Super Series type fiasco since there will already be team spirit and chemistry. What do you say Rup and Raheel? Would your teams be ready for it? ;)

time_pass said...

We should probably select 12 or 13 for each Star team and introduce Power Plays, so that more people can be accomodated..

I think having 2 or 3 or even 4 power plays will let the two sides expose their talent.

Also will be interesting to see how the 2 sides exploit the power play situations making the game more exciting...

Raheel said...

We should probably select 12 or 13 for each Star team and introduce Power Plays, so that more people can be accomodated..

d_b dont you mean super subs? Power plays are just extra overs of field restrictions and does not involve "more people".

time_pass said...

Raheel,
Thats what I mean....you know its been a long day...kinda losing it..

Super Subs, I think it will be fun to introduce that..

Raheel said...

Jaggi, will the play off matches be 45 or 50 overs? Or just the final will be 50 overs?

Ramsundar Lakshminarayanan said...

Super Sub concept was a colossal failure for some reason...Hasn't ICC (International Cricket Conference, that is) abandoned it?

Raheel said...

Yea IMO supersub rule favors the team winning the toss unless the supersub is a genuine allrounder.

time_pass said...

Well, I was suggesting just for the All Start game, so that, we can have more stars participate...

I personally think, if we have a 40-50 over game, it will be fun to implement the Super Sub concept.

Rup, similarly ICC should have kept quiet by not bragging about your talent. Shut up until you guys can win it all. There's no point putting up numbers, during the regular season and bragging about it all day on the blogs. C'mon, its afterall regular season, which means nothing in the final analysis if you guys don't win the championship. Championship victory will speak for itself (consistency...which you said it yourself).

Rup, Wildcats play Pak Gymkhana tonight !!

I've heard they have speed guns at Atlanta and LA, F Rose has been clocked around 92 mph according to some sources in LA, how about getting one for MCC? ;). Also google for a 'Platypus' ball its a cricket ball made of rubber like substance but weighs the same as the regular ball (5.5 oz) and has the circuit installed in it to measure speed (on a little screen in the ball). However you can't hit it with a bat or bowl on concrete as the circuit connections might get messed up.

Adeel is definitely a very intelligent bowler, I'll give you (and him) that, but Faisal is mediocre at best - I happened to be at the ground watching the Bears v Pak Gym match in early season and Shahid (en rourte 92) just hit Faisal all over. Adeel is under-rated, he should have played more this season

Raheel said...

You guys have to include Yousuf bhai from Flames: 33 wickets this season is no joke.

ice_cold said...

anonymous, you make it pretty obvious that you play from Bears and you want your team mates to be noticed on blog.

We all know you guys r a good team but come on now, dont be a hater..

Rahul, I guess you play either from challengers or Royals?

ice_cold said...

Adnan_ucc,
I agree with you, but i guess there are some loosers/haters out there.
We all know how great Mehul is and he has proved that over the years.

Raheel said...

anonymous, that was vs Bears in 2004 - yes I rememeber that, you might also remember a very clear ct behind that was disallowed by the umpire ;) in the dying overs of that match ;).

time_pass said...

Yeah, Romeen its on DISH for $99.00

Also, I dont know if you guys know about the streaming video thru a few websites..

There are a few sgstream.com or willowtv.com

sgstream is only 10 bucks a game, so something to check out.

I watched the game last night and it was as though you were watching on TV. Not too bad for that money...

time_pass said...

I think the best shot was his cover drive....vintage Sachin..

time_pass said...

I say Wildcats over Pak too..

Pak 135, Wildcats in 136 in 19 or even 19.5..

time_pass said...

click on the "EVENTS" tab on sgstream.com

type in the ground name - KINRARA (for DLF cup)

I tried DLF, it didnt work...so you may want to figure out where the game is before you get there..

Here we go another umpiring screw up with pak game. Man is it not dumb to throw 2 wides when 2 are needed to win.

I was playing for IIT - get your facts right you ppl just need an excuse to point fingers at Pak Gym!

straight_drive said...

Another Tendulkar 100 that didn't lead to victory for India, he must have a record in that dept. Most 100s in losses or highest % of 100s in losses.

Raheel said...

What do you want me to say Rup? As a team I expect us to win - but then again everyone does, thats why we play - to win ;).

Raheel said...

Are you gonna be watchin Rup?

timesofindiaintheus...well said

Rup...my engleesh kamprehensun is the same as your spelling abilities...numbers don't mean a thing until you win it all...you may host a bragging party once you win. Come to Div 1 if possible...you can bring your Pepperroti and I'll get some tasty Lahori dishes for our match next year.

Congratulations to the Wildcats.

Was able to get some interviews last night at the game. The goddamn video camera battery malfunctioned, so was dependent on direct power, which I finally did get (10vers into the the Cat's batting).

Not sure if its the blog or not, but had a good turn out last night.

When I left last night, Pak were 30 odd for 4 and were definitely struggling. Romeen, can you give us a quick game report.

Romeen hit, what I thought was the shot of the game. He picked up Farman's length early, presented the full face of the bat and sort of punched it high over mid-on for a boundary. Pretty awesome shot!!

One thing for sure, it looks like Satish Reddy is back.

All of us talked about Rashid's line and length and the deceptive pace. The man can bowl yorkers at will.

time_pass said...

Romeen, nice car you got there man..

Do you take it out to the racing tracks at all? Just to crank it out..

time_pass said...

Well I guess its better to cruise at 30 with a beauty...than the race tracks...

Good summary Romeen - you gave us more credit than we deserved. Taking absolutely nothing away from the Wildcats and Satish in particular (4 wkts, 4 catches, 3 top order wkts!) this has to be the WORST performace from Pak Gym this season. In the field, we allowed doubles to be taken in front of boundary fielders due to ball getting heavy and not travelling, gave away a lot of over-throws and allowed too many singles in the 30 yard circle. One statistic for me speaks volumes - in 148, there were only 3 x 4s all inns and all of them came within the first 5 overs when the ball was hard and new. We conceded 114 in the last 15 overs which contained no 4s or 6s! Credit to the Cats who had a strategy and mostly played along the ground and ran hard.

When it was our turn to bat, no one in the top order really bothered to get their eye in and all got out playing airy shots (Wildcats ofcourse held excellent catches). The conditions did not require big hitting, but finding the gaps and taking the occasional boundary. The key moment was Shahid's wicket - he had started by creaming his first delivery off Satish through the backward point area for a 4, but was caught at long off trying to hit another one of a full delivery from Giri, the way Wildcats celebrated they knew they had the game in the bag then. Irfan and Ali consolidated but it was too little too late, the asking rate climbed to 10 and both perished playing big shots.

We were either overconfident or lackluster, possibly both - having played no cricket (match or practice) since 8/26 vs Flames. The only bright area was Rashid bhai's performance who took 3-10 off his 4 overs sending down some amazing yorkers. We have 2 days to reflect and get back on track since there is no margin for error anymore (QF vs Muslim). Good luck to all teams in AL and Regular day tournament.

am neither from Purdue nor part of teams going to Div 2. Rup...you need to stop offering lame excuses (no good players, bad umpiring etc). Regarding bragging, i was referring to your bragging in other threads as well. Respect other teams, be it Purdue or anybody else. Remember, Purdue played in Chicago to win the title last year.Honestly, your arrogance is going to work against you. Be cautious. How can a guy like you be considered for captaining Div 2 All star team? With your condescending approach you may not be respected by your colleagues.

SimonDispatch said...

guys...how about All Star Loafers XI from Div 1 and Div 2?

who would be the captains of both the team? name some players as well...

how about all start bloggers 11...

Good Luck to All Teams. I think WC, Bears, Purdue and Pak will make to the Semis.

RCDC: Aditya is not even good to be discussed in this blog. He is just extremely ordinary....
Ajit has faded from being a decent batsman to pathetic batsman.
Ankur has to reduce some weight to be called a batsman. He moves his ponch more than his feet.
Kamran is just a new kid on the block, still a long way to go to be a potentially a decent batsman.

Sameer Khan said...

I believe these stats reflect more on his Div 2 performance, where we all know it means nothing. This year has been just decent for him with avg 27.33.
Not worth talking on this Blog about him.
Move on guys, lets talk Satha, Shahid, Imran and similar guys who have made the real difference.
