  1. Sadiq,

Thank you for the playoff write ups. I guess better late than never! It is such fun to read your analysis. It makes watching and following the games all the more interesting. Thanks Again.

  2. good...finally you are getting it Rup. Guess you need to be put in a hot seat to make you understand or Kaamprehend (our friendly terminology). sorry...didn't know that before...would have pounced on such a seat from local walmart.

  3. Challengers beat Bears at WP today. Bears were all out for around 89 and Challengers knocked that off with ease.

Wildcats were all out for around 110 and when I left Mill: United were 4 for 1.

St Louis made 179 against Purdue who were yet to bat.

Pak Gym made about 280 in 45 overs against Muslim Gym who were yet to bat.

  4. can anybody provide results of today's games....

  5. Romeen, looks like your winning streak is going to come to a sad end. Anyways there is always a next time. I would be really surprised to see you guys pull this one off.
Why does a guy as talented as Satish Reddy bat at Number 9?
He is definitely one of the top order batsman out there in the league. Satish needs to be treated better.
You guys definitely need to change your captain. Ajit is getting bald so is his batting and captaincy.

  6. Muslim got 128-6 in 18 overs (or the 18th was being bowled). They started off with all guns blazing and were 53-1 in 5 overs. Kamran hit some amazing shots down the ground off Farman and got to his 50 in like 3 overs! I was relitively unscathed at the other end with only 14 coming off my 4 overs when Imran decided to double that tally by hitting 14 more in the next over - Sadiq wasn't kidding when he said Imran can hit good balls for 6, good thing Shahid got him out. Shahid and myself have 2 wickets each and Rashid bhai and Bakhshi have 1 each. Muslim are way ahaead on the run rate but are 6 down.

Shahid earlier scored an unbeaten 77 and Imran (our opener, not Muslim's) got 52 - there were 30s from Bakhshi and Irfan too.

Inetersting playoff situation, let's see what happens - congratulations Tushar and Challengers for making it to the Semis!

  7. Sadiq,

I was at the ground and watched the last few overs of the Challengers innings. I don't know who was bowling - i assume from what's written here that his name is Faisal - but, he was really fast - i will say that he was just about the fastest I have seen in MWCC. Rup was umpiring and I'm sure he may be able to weigh in more authoritivly than me. Also, it was interesting to see that Bhavneet ( I assume) was facing him without a helmet. I thought that was pretty brave of him!

    ReplyDelete
  8. so pretty low scoring affairs at WP and a high scoring one at Hanover! Why am I not surprised lol.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Dude Sadiq.. I am a great admirer of your writing skills, but not your umpiring. I had heard this one before, but you seem to be biased towards University teams. When the league has provided two neutral umpires, why did you override a call from the leg umpire? I have also noticed that your LBW decisions are pretty terrible.
BTW, I was at the ground yesterday only as a spectator.

  10. dude 681ou1, a lot of us know about adnan.. you repeatedly are bringing up his name and singing praises.. its irritating.

  11. i c the humor.. ok, continue .. but not about adnan. Pleeeeeeeeassssssseeeeee

  13. Lets talk about exciting teams from Div 2... :):):)

    I can't think of any Jack :P

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'd heard he collapsed on the field and was taken to the hospital.

    -S

    ReplyDelete
  15. Just talked to Muneer from MDS: Naser Yamani is fine now. He rested well over the weekend. Muneer is taking him to the hospital today to get an MRI done. Will keep you all posted as I hear more.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hey Tushar can you tell me how Daxx did because i have him as a player on my dream team? Also Raheel How did Shahid do? and i heard Imran Syed from Muslim did really good is that all true or just rumors.

  17. LETS PLAY PUNDITS FOR NEXT WEEK

    MY PICKS:

ICC VS PEORIA = PEORIA WINS (Nothing against ICC but PEORIA Has a better chance as of now)

IIT VS GIANTS = IIT easily

CAPITOL VS ADVANCERS = Satha will score a fifty but ADVANCERS will Win

AAA VS MADISON = This game depends on when Ramadan begins, if its on saturday then MADISON wins but if it begins on Sunday the AAA wins.

  18. The weather prediction for this week doesnt look good. As of now, if looks like today is going to be the best day, with a high of 69.

The challengers play royals tonight. Should be a good game. Hope to see a good turn out.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Actually Jaggi that game has been cancelled and will be played sometime next week. Jaggi also how are we going to know how many points we have in the dream team?

    ReplyDelete
  20. i suggest that each week you post on here how many points each player has gotten Like lets just say
    Shahid Munir gets 10
Imran Syed gets 6 or something of this sort. this way we can keep track at home also to see how many points we have and then we can discuss it on the blog also.

  21. Sadiq is the most biased umpire in the league. He usually umpires games in which there are young guys such as IIT, Purdue, and Madison and every single Decision tends to go in their favor. I was a spectator at LUCKY XI VS MADISON game and there was a close runout decision at the end where the leg umpire stands and it was very doubtful so the leg umpire gave it not out yet Sadiq decided to over rule that decision and gave the batsman out. Now mind you that at this point LUCKY XI had already given three other runouts and one stumping. Madison's Captain Aslam said that it was very doubtful and had no problem that the leg umpire had given it not out and that the batsman should be allowed to continue to bat but Sadiq said that there was no way he was going to change his decision so LUCKY XI called Tariq to discuss the matter at hand and after a 15 min delay the batsman was allowed to continue batting. This is just one example that I have about Sadiq's biased umpiring.

  22. Mastakilla.. the the plan is to update the points in the various fantasy teams on a weekly basis. But as of now, the three div-1 games are not completed. For this week only, we plan to wait out till the games are completed.

Also, just to reconfirm, the Challengers Vs Royals game is on this evening.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The games that were affected by rain, will continue this weekend. The date and time will be posted soon.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Also, how about beemers bowled by Shahid to Farhat?

    Damn!!! There were beamers????

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think people like Shahid and Rup will be in everyone's dreamteam. Shahid already got 77* and 2 wickets (and I think he has not completed his bowling yet, right Raheel? So, there might yet be more wickets for him out of the 4 available).

    ReplyDelete
  26. ""Damn!!! There were beamers???? ""

Yea, I heard something similar as well and that Shahid got a warning.

may be somebody who was at Hanover park yesterday can shed some light?

    Raheel, Moe?? Any comments?

Or is it that Shahid is mad that an ex Pak player dropped his pants last week....

    ReplyDelete
  27. I was at the park guys.. yes there was a beamer, but Shahid immediately apologized to Farhat. The wet ball simply slipped out of his hands. The umpire signalled a no-ball and that was the end of it.

Was able to get some pics yesterday of both teams. Plan to shoot more and come up with an album sometime. Need some volunteers to shoot some videos.

    ReplyDelete
  28. for a few dollars, did Pak take some money or make any under the table deals with umpire or Muslim Gym? You're the expert in that field ;).

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hey guys that was just a ball slipping out of shahids hands i belive, he apologized and that was end of it, i have nuthing futher to state upon that, yes we have a long way to bring it home, however we havent given up nor will we till the last ball is bowled. win or loose we had a blast playing last sunday. Our fielding was very poor, including me we dropped 9-10 catches and missed few run-out and if you want to win against a team of pak's caliber u have to step it up a notch, not down. Our up was Saads bowling and Kami gr8 hitting he hit monsterous SIXES in all parts of ground and like raheel said he made 50 in less then 3 overs. We will try out best and it will be fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. moe muslim
i forgot to write that in the previous comment :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Kumble bowls around 100 kph sometimes which is roughly 63 mph, also I have seen Afridi bowl at about 78-80 mph with his quicker ball ;).

    ReplyDelete
  32. I sympathize with you Moe having witnessed some similar fielding from our side in the past! However, we took all catches and ground fielding was pretty good too so far, the way Kamran etc were going if we had dropped them then, the game would've been over by now! Good luck ;).

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is there any news yet when the rained off matched will be completed? Will it be on Sun? (Div 2 quarter finals are on Sat). Will the Div 1 schedule be moved ahead by one week?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hey Sadiq would you please comment on what haoppened during the game beween MADISON CC. VS LUCKY XI CC.

  38. Hey Sadiq would you please enlighten us as to what happened in Madison vs Lucky game?

    ReplyDelete
  39. n e one know what happened in the game between CHALLENGERS VS ROYALS?

    ReplyDelete
  40. good morning rup. i didn't mean any disrespect yesterday. it just looks like there are going to be some upsets this year

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rup,
I heard Zeeshan Khan from Flames played ACC this weekend AGAIN and now he is suspended by Flames and MWCC?

    Is it true?

    ReplyDelete
  42. guys.. i put up some new pics.. game between Muslim and Pak, Challengers and Royals(got only the Royals).

It would be nice if the teams can take pics and send it to either me or Hari. We will post it online.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Rup good luck tonight, seems like its more of a bonfire / bbq weather rather than cricket!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes the conditions are ridiculous during night this time of year. Tonight's low is supposed to be 40F at Hanover park (FYI Flames and MDS lol). I think for the next year we should start the night matches earlier, like beginning -mid June instead of waiting till July, true there will be a lot of light (at 7pm), but its better that way to have a 35% day - 65% night match than a 100% wet outfield!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Rup
once you are in the field, it is all good. yes it will be cold and windy!! Good luck.

Yes, Royals LOST but we had fun!!

    Vipul

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think the matches will be completed on the same grounds that they were played on. i.e. MUCC v Cats & Purdue v St Louis will be at WP and Pak v Muslim will be at HP.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hey Rup like i said b4 i didnt mean n e dusrespect and wish u the best of luck tonight and on sunday. just to let you know i have u and jak on my fantasy team so i hope you and jack do especially well.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It is not fair to Muslim if we stick them in at WP matting with 6 down having made them bowl on HP carpet earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hey Tushar thanx yeah man i racked up some points early because I also had Shahid Munir and he scored 72 and Daxx took a 5fer so thats alot of points. Is there anyone that can tell me how Imrann from Muslim did? maybe Moe. TUSHAR congrats on both ins this week and good luck the rest of the way.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I had Daxx, Nilesh, Shahid and Irfan on my dreamteam - so I think I'd have pretty decent points by now (Daxx 5, Nilesh 2 wkts, Shahid 77* + 2 wkts, Irfan 37). ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Rup your guess is as good as mine when these will be completed. It will be particularly harsh on St. Louis if they're made to travel all the way up here for only 15 overs max.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanx Rup score another ton so can rack up some more points. By the way who is playing aginst Capitol?? I also have Satha. Here is my full team:

    1.Lakshmikumar Rajaramachandran (IIT)
    2.Imran Taylor (AAA)
    3.Satha Sivapragasam (CAPITOL)
    4.Imran Syed (MUSLIM GYMKHANA)
    5.Rupnarine Seenarain (ICC)
    6.Shahid Munir ( PAK GYMKHANA)
    7.Bilal Patel (AAA)
    8.Hafez Adam Menk (AAA)
    9.Challenor Jack (ICC)
    10.Daxx Patel (CHALLENGERS)
    11.Pradeep Perera (PURDUE)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Masta, Imran sparkled briefly, but was out for less than 20 I think, his brother Kamran hit a 50 in about 18-20 balls!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think Shahid will be in everyone's team, so you're not gaining any advantage over others ;). You can't leave out a guy with 400+ runs and 20+ wickets and a known big match player - already he has hit an unbeaten 77 and taken 2 wickets (out of 6) in the incomplete QF.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I also had Tehsin from St Louis - didn't he score big too vs Purdue?

    ReplyDelete
  56. The games will be played in the same ground.

Pak and Muslim will play on Saturday at HP. The div-2 game scheduled at HP will be played in Heritage or WP-1(hopefully).

Purdue will play St Louis on Sat(After the div-2 QF).

MUCC has about 20 runs to get and the cats have 3/4 wiks to take and this game should not take more than 30-40 mins. The Cats and MUCC will play on Sunday(early morn).

The official schedule should be published on the website soon.

    ReplyDelete
  57. So jack did u create a fantasy team?

Raheel who else do u have on your team?

Still no word from Sadiq about the incident that occured in Madison Vs Lucky

Hey Rup what is your opinion on this?

  58. Jaggi, so Div 1 SF's will be played as planned on Sun? There's more rain forecast for this weekend (showers on both Sat and Sun) - fingers crossed! And everyone do the anti-rain dance.

    ReplyDelete
  59. t_p, out of that list Chris Broad is the one for me - he always had a problem with authorities and now he's a match referee and hands out strict punishments for even slight misdemeanors!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes Raheel.. the div-1 semis will be played on Sunday, weather permitting. Anti-rain dance .. lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ne one want to comment on the issue in my previous post?

    ReplyDelete
  62. I would agree with Rahul on the "some poor decision from royal to change the batting line up "

we should have put little more on the board.. would have been interesting..

  63. john said...
"i heard lucky XI always have problem with the umpire"

Well that is true but lets say you were put in the same situation then what would you have done? Imena wuts the use of even putting in a leg umpire for close decisions if the main umpire is not going to honoe them. U understand where i am coming from?

RUP what is ur point on this?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think Farhat did the rain dance after he was hit by the beamer!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think Pak will beat whoever wins Purdue v St Louis QF and Challengers will beat MU (who are looking likely winners over WC). Pak v Challengers will be the final.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Has anyone else thought about it or is it just me? There could be conflict of interest if you're a fantasy team participant AND a member of a playoffs team - do you put an opposition player in your team? lol

    ReplyDelete
  67. Guys, it was a tongue in cheek remark, I don't think anyone will play badly so a certain opposition player does well because he is in the fantasy team!

    ReplyDelete
  68. t_p, what did I take seriously?

Relax guys, Raheel, in my opinion, was only joking. The fantasy teams and the points are only for bragging rights, nobody is getting any money for this.

I am sure that the umpires are not going to be biased based on who he has in the fantasy team.

    ReplyDelete
  69. SA just totalled 418 in 50 ovs v Zim. Boucher hit 147* (68) 8x4, 10x6 - 100 in 44 balls (2nd fastest). They're talking about admitting Zim into test cricket, I don't think they're even ready for ODI's right now!

    ReplyDelete
  70. t_p, SL got 443 (I think!) vs Netherlands earlier this year. I didn't cheat - promise ;).

    ReplyDelete
  71. t_p, SL got 443 (I think!) vs Netherlands earlier this year. I didn't cheat - promise ;).

  72. what if saturday replays get washed out again? are we gonna play them on sunday?. i think we should adopt DL method for MCC. not very practical to continue the game till it finshes.

There are only light showers forecast for Sat as of now, none strong enough to threaten the completion of QF's - BUT, there are showers again on Sun, will the SF's be completed (full matches)?

    ReplyDelete
  73. What are the revised odds for Div 1 Championship now that 1 QF has been decided and 3 are atleast 70% over! Are Pak and Challengers the favs to lift the trophy? Both have equally strong bowling attcks, pak has the edge in batting one feels, but Challengers have superior fielding.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Do MU, WC, Muslim, Purdue or St Louis stand a chance or are Pak and Challengers the only serious contenders?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Jumping the gun here aren't we MCC player? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  76. We are definitely concerned about the weather for this weekend. Everything gets moved by a week if it rains out this weekend.

The all-star game will get moved if all the games cannot be completed this weekend. There are a lot of variables at this point.

Will pick the pool of players for the all-star game and the captain and make an announcement.

Till then, like Raheel said, lets all do the anti-rain dance :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. I did a little research and Pak has beaten Challengers quite easily in the last 2 years (regular league games)dismissing them for 124 at Wash Park and 138 at Hanover park and then chasing quite comfortably (Shahid hitting 45* in each match, now thats a coincidence!). That has to play on the minds of Challengers in case of a Chall-Pak final. St. Louis, Purdue and MU also have a good chance of reaching the final, but somehow I feel this is good bye for Mildcats this season, they fought hard, but not hard enough.

    ReplyDelete
  78. cricketandlife, it will be the management that will pick the players.

    ReplyDelete
  79. There have been some good ideas that have come up on the blog. We should definitely talk about it in the off-season and try to see if we can use it for next season's all-star game.

    ReplyDelete
  80. No disrespect to da Cats, but you can't keep winning on "heart" alone, you also need some talent to go with it. WC should've lost last season, but they won because of a pathetic peroformance by Pak in the field (dropping anywhere between 12-15 dollies), not because of heart or anything. I think MU has shown a lot of skill and heart in bundling them out for 110 and are on their way to challenge Challengers in the Semis.

mastakilla......not really sure if you know what really happened at the game between Lucky and Madison.....the call by the leg umpire was an outrageously bad call...he was out by about a couple of feet at least.....I agree he had given three run-out decisions before that ...but it does not mean he can then get away with an outrageous decision ...so putting that as an example of Sadiq's bad umpiring is'nt appropriate.....by the way the Lucky 11 players did'nt really distinguish themselves with their exceptionally peevish behavior that day....it would've been great to record it and play it for all of the MCC to see :)
    ___________________________________

if it was such a bad call then why did Aslam bhai say that it was indeed a very close calland that the batsman should be allowed to continue to play and be given not out?

  82. Hey guess what we still havent heard from SADIQ about that controversial Overturn of a call he made on Madison. Is he just ignoring it?:)

  84. hey muscricketeer, i am a big indian cricket team well wisher. But i dont think the way we are playing we have good chance for the worldcup. Ever since the last few tournaments we have played, all we hear from greg chappel and company is that we are building a team to get us the worldcup. but have you noticed that we have not won any tournaments outside of india yet? should winning tournaments outside india be a part of the build up to the worldcup?
