Discussion Board: Sunday October 1

MWCC's very own Super Sunday! Three BIG games at WP and then the 30/30 semis at HP. Let's Discuss...

I want to congratulate the Management on conceiving and organizing this "Super Sunday". In fact, I would like to suggest that this be made in to an annual event - Div 1 and 2 semi-finals on the same day ( maybe a Super Saturday) at Washington Park and the next week have both finals again on side by side grounds. Two "Super Saturday" weekends will be a great way to wind down the season - also have a tent in the middle as a common pavilion to bring everyone together.

This Sunday was terrific. Some great games between 6 champion sides featuring some of the best players in MWCC. A lot of socializing, wonderful weather and some superb cricket...shocks, disappointments, joy of winning, thrilling finish ( Capitol-Giants), a sensational one man show ( Farman Khan), all in all a great celebration of cricket. To those who were not there today...I want to ask you to try your best to be there next year ( hopefully if the mgmt makes this a regular event).

In the mean time here are some photos/videos from today:

  3. Quick Update
    Giants lost to Capitol.
Pak beat Challengers- Farmn took a 5-fer, rashid played a captain's knock.
Adam again lead AAA to vicory against ICC

  4. Hehehe...who are the chokers now?

isn't the definition very appropriate? lemme carve that definition out from one of the earlier threads and put it out for everybody to see...including ICC.

Good luck to AAA and Capitol.

  5. Farman and Raheel destroyed Challenger's challenge. They made them look like kids. Rashid was awesome.
Except for a guy called Bandish, nobody played with responsibility from Challengers.

    Pak Gym 228
    Challeners 74
    MOM - Farman Khan

  6. Oh poor Jack, u sound like a moron for sure. stop boasting about next year...c'mon, its just few hours since AAA screwed you guys. You are going to be FFL? big deal...you can even go 14-0 and will end up not going to the finals.

Look at Giants- remained silent and gave a wonderful fight despite losing. Your regular season stats didn't help you in your fight against AAA. Who gives a f&^%k about those regular season stats? Shut up and focus on mourning your loss.

oops...sorry...didn't realize until now that its difficult to straighten a dog's tail.

  7. Simon, you dont have to be nasty to Jack to put your point across. You could be nicer...:)

  10. Oh poor Jack, u are cutting a sorry figure with your boasting.

Look at Giants- remained silent and gave a wonderful fight despite losing. Your regular season stats didn't help you in your fight against AAA. We all said that...pls remain quiet, win and then remain modest. You guys didn't follow the rules...and ended up losing.

    ReplyDelete
  11. mirchi, how did it turn out now?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hey jack man you guys played well today but admit it the better team won. AAA bested you guys in all three departments. Hafez and Imran pulled them out of trouble with a very useful knock also by Sadik and Hanif. And then they came out all guns firing with their bowling with sadik taking a 5-fer and hafez bowling very economically you guys were done with. Hafez bowled 8 overs and he only gave up 12 runs and he gave the initial breakthrough. so Congrats to Capitol and Satha We'll see you guys next week.

  13. Conversation between Jack and Simon
    -----------------------------------

Jack Asks: SimonDispatch what is your problem..

Simon Says: None whatsoever, infact rejoicing at your loss.

Jack Asks: Did your team make it to the playoff at all?

    Simon Says: Irrelevant question

Jack Asks: Who gives a shit about reg season since the league does not reward anything for that..

Simon Says: Exactly, why goddamn boast about bowling, batting, fielding and shitting stats during regular season?

Jack Says: And AAA played well But there was more to the match than the scores..

Simon Asks: yeah, the results...anything else matters at this time?

    Jack States:
Great job haters keep it up.... We will be back....

Simon retorts: Most welcome. He..he..he, 14-0 means nothing...he.he.he

    ReplyDelete
  14. Conversation continues...

Jack Asks: SimonDispatch WHO gives a $%#$ what you think and say?

Simon Says: Obviously you...more from other ICC cry babies expected.

Jack States: Show your real name come to the park and play so we can give you some smelling salts..

Simon Says: Regular season or playoffs?

    Jack remains: Silent

    Simon Says: Nothing

    All is well.

  15. one other thing...heard there were some difficult moments for ICC after the game...also the team might split next year...some of the insiders are unhappy about boasting crap that went around.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I guess that was the most one-sided final in recent memory. Challengers bowled and fielded excellently early on but then started to fall away towards the end and conceded 228. Rashid did play well, but they just allowed him easy singles early on to settle. And I don't know what the Challengers batting was thinking, may be they mistook this one for the Night final and were playing like 20-20. Farman and Raheel were good no doubt but they were not that unplayable as the Challengers made them seem! Farman had 5 and Raheel 3 and at one point it seemed that Pak Gym won't need any more bowlers, but the Challengers bottom order restored a little tiny bit of respectability. Well played Pak Gym, but I think anyone from Wildcats to Purdue or Milw United would've given Pak a better fight.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Jack,

The better team won man face it. ICC choked once again just like they did last year. We beat you guys last year and we did it once again this year. AAA deserved to make it to the finals and im very happy that they will be playing to brng the trophy home. ICC and rup good luck next year but make sure you guys walk the walk before you talk the talk.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jack man you guys got you butts kicked by AAA yet you are still talking man. I guess im going to have to buy a roll of duct tape to tape your mouth shut and the same thing with Aaron also man.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Had a blast guys. Nothing like watching 3 quality games. We had a very good turnout and some very good conversations.

    Congratulations to all the winners.

Raheel, our fellow blogger, had a good day too. Had a couple of good hits and then along with Farman rocked the Challengers top order.

Want to thank everybody that helped us out, especially the umpires. We received good reports about all the umpires.

Want to thank all the volunteers too. In the very end, the guy who was supposed to pick up the chairs got delayed due to traffic. Tariq talked about how the Challengers again stepped it up to help him out. Want to thank the Challengers, second week in a row, for all the help and support.

The Abid Laheri Night Tournament Finals is on Tuesday(7:00pm) between Challengers and Flames. Good luck to both teams.

    ReplyDelete
  20. dude Jack you guranteed a win this week by Icc but what happened you guys collapsed and lost. So now you guys are going to be sore losers and try to state that there was something wrong with the umpiring? Man you guys know how to stoop real low dont you. Next year make sure you guys win before you guys gurantee something because now it just makes you look like a stupid moron who guranteed a win ( just like Roy Williams of The Detroit Lions did against the Bears beforethey got their butt kicked) yet you couldn't pull it off. ICC needs to teach its players discipline also.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thank you Jaggi and all those who were at the park and all the well wishers on here :). It turned out to be a comfortable win in the end maily due to the efforts of Rashid bhai with the bat (62) and Farman bhai with the ball (5-fer, which would've been a 6-fer if it weren't for a dropped catch by yours truly!). Thank you for people who said I bowled well, it was merely a supporting act for the main show at the other end ;). Good luck to Capitol and AAA (Div 2 final) and Flames / Challengers for the night AL tournament final.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Guess what, ICC cry babies have only one reason to describe the loss...UMPIRING...they gave the same reason in their only other loss during the regular season...

Jack wants to be back...fine...to do what? score 500 runs, pick up 25 wickets and lose in the playoffs...this is becoming a joke now...

  24. That cameo from Shahid was nipped in the bud, I think he got that 34 in about 18 balls max (4x4, 2x6) and hit bowlers like Tushar and Nilesh over long off for 6s. He was looking all set to repeat last year's final performance (133) when he chased a wide one from Sanjay and edged behind - I think that was my only disappointment yesterday, not seeing him continue in that sort of form.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Good luck to AAA and Capitol. Well honestly, did not expect Capitol to go this far. I felt as a team they lack WP playing experience. They have overcome the odds.

Giants and ICC:- Sorry it had to come to an abrupt end. To me, Giants going this far is not surprising.

Looking fwd to a good game next weekend.

  27. It looks to me that Challengers batting aint upto scratch when facing some quality fast bowling. In the regular season they lost to Pak Gym (best pace attack), Phoenix (good pace attack, Priyank etc.), Flames (Nasir, Yousaf) and Bears (Faisal etc.). If the attack consists of military medium pacers and spinners, then their batting smashes it (e.g. Night match vs Muslim) but falls flat in front of pace. Just an observation!

  29. hoodie, im just saying what happened over the season.... I dont belong to any of the mentioned teams.... ill be more than happy if they can prove me wrong. Although 20-20 is different, I was talking about day tournament. I cant understand how flames made the night final 2 yrs in a row over all the other more talented teams.

    ReplyDelete
  30. red_line and time_pass: go find out what Rup's comments was pertaining to "Asia" and his fore parents...if u don't have the time to search for it, then you guys shut up and ignore my comments.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Guys.. please cut it out. Both ICC and AAA are extremely talented teams, but, unfortunately somebody had to lose. Lets move on.

Capitol, ICC, Challengers and Giants, please update your scores ASAP. A bunch of players are on the various fantasy league teams and we need the scores to update the points.

  32. time_pass: I don't care what you think...people get offended incl myself...but I agree to move on...

just when we agree to move on...comes the gem from Jack :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jack...how did u get out?
I think i did see a left handed batsman getting out (whose front leg was cple of meters ahead of the crease) but wasnt sure if it was u?

    ReplyDelete
  34. dude jack you were out man face it. AAA didnt complain when their guys were given out on a close runout did they? Shut that hole on your face that you call a mouth man because all ICC does is YAP YAP YAP and then they cant come out and back it up. AAA stayed quiet and came out and whooped ur asses and thats it man stand up and take it like a man!!!!!!!!!! Umpires are humans after all they might make mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  35. by the way...i dont mean to be picking on you just wana know what happened. If you guys lost it due to poor umpiring, I can feel your pain as almost 50% of the results in MWCC are decided by umpiring.
Luckily there werent any confusions about the Div 1 final cuz pak just uprooted the stumps, one after the other.

    ReplyDelete
  36. hey blogger, juz to let you know there was no problems with the umpiring in the game between AAA and ICC. Jack was just mad because he appealed for an LBW but didnt get it and then when he was given out he just lost it. Simon from ICC started swearing at AAA players when they appealed for something and thats not the way to play. Aaron also has a big ass mouth. He was talking all this shit before he went out to bat. he was like ill win the game for ICC dont worry guys, but he went took his guard took like 10 minutes to put on his gloves and look at the field and then after the first ball he took the long way back as his middle stum had been uprooted and went cartwheeling into the air and AAA started the celebrating. I have a suggestion for JACK, AARON, and the rest of the ICC players when you guys come to play a game make sure you guys tape your mouths shut and play cricket. Cricket is a gentelmans game not for A**holes who talk shit and then cant back it up. Even last year you guys were talking a bunch of shit and then were beaten by none other then AAA. A blogger by the name of Mustafa even warned you guys that the same thing is gonna happen again this year but you guys didnt heed his warning did you. ICC will come back next year and be like 14-0 ten win the first game of the playoffs and then get their asses kicked again by some other ( as AAA wont be there to beat them as they will be in Div 1) team. ICC will never make it into DIV 1

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hey Rup thats the way you see it. But ask that short little man with the black shorts what he said to the ump after the game when i was tallying the scores with them.... He asked to talk to the umpires and he was talking about your stumping ( and i understand it might have been a mistake i didn't see it but hey thats a part of the game) but the umpire said that if you wanted you could discuss it with him not that short guy and you know what the short guy said to me and the ump?? he said all you motherf**kers are in it together and F**k you proceeded by a finger Rup. Now lets talk about that?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Is that what cricket is about man... i was juz trying to tick off jack man... you know me i respect ICC but overconfidence cost you guys the game. I've been watchin you perform since i was like 4 or 5 and i respect your abilities but Jack talked a little too much and he said he was goin to run through the AAA line up and score a whole bumch of runs but what did he do? nothing....im juz trying to tell him that next year when you guys are in the playoffs again dont talk to much. Just shut up and play the game man. He looks like a moron after he guranteed a win but then ended up losing. RUP you have umpired before and you know that sometimes you can make a mistake so Jack needs to live with it. he was also suggesting that we had bribed the umps. Now isn't that taking cheap shots also???????

    ReplyDelete
  39. hey cheetah that one was funny man

    ReplyDelete
  40. jack...If that ball had hit ur front leg and u were given LBW.
The umpire is even worse that Sadiq, cuz ur front leg was almost 2 meters outside the crease!

    ReplyDelete
  41. ICC had a great season and a bad game.
They have good players unfortunately they couldnt win the cup like they wanted to.

Can we leave them alone and move on..like who is gona win the Div2 final on saturday ....AL tourny tomorrow night.

Anybody playing pundits for tomorrow's game and sat's game?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jack,
I looked at ur ground after the appeal..and saw ur head down and from your leg half way down the wicket it was obvious that you were given wrong out.
Good luck to you guys next season.

  43. HEY RUP JACK,
Man im just doin all this shit for fun man. NO HARD FEELINGS HUH JACK :) wut do u say. Let past things be forgotten. Man good luck tou you guys next year and hope you guys win it all next year. Good luck also to Satha and Capitol in the finals. 45. Folks.. we got some real heavy rain last night and supposed to get more tonite. There is a good possibility that we might move the Abid Laheri Night Tournament game to Saturday. This is more of a heads up.
    Stay tuned for more details.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Tonight's Abid Laheri Tournament- final has been moved to Saturday. Both teams have been informed of the same.

As of now, the weather for Sat looks good(rain predicted for Sunday). We may have a Super Saturday, with the div-2 finals on Sat at Community Park followed by Abid Laheri Finals and Div-20/20 finals at Heritage Park.
A final decision will be made by Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hey Jack...I am observing a self-imposed bash-holiday...will continue this until further notice.

so, lets have some fun now.

What might be your stats for next years regular season? Add Collins and Rup's as well.

also, your analysis of next years semi-final matchup in div2 will be greatly helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  48. oh Jack...one other thing...who will be in the finals in Div 2 next year. Please let me know your stats and the logic.

    ReplyDelete
  49. hey Rup no hard feelings right? I hope you guys come up to divisin 1 soon so that we can play each other once again. aight.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Mastakilla, u pissed everybody off with your prolonged banter of ICC. All the good things that happened on Sunday that could have been discussed, was masked by your childish behaviour. Do us all a favor, restrict yourself to one post a day.

    ReplyDelete
  51. shiraz... excellent news. Where will this be played? Will we played on Weekdays or weekend's?

    ReplyDelete
  52. hey Jack...let's have some fun...publish your statistics for next year...Promise, I won't taunt you!!!

  57. all right people...
Let's get real and polite and stop cursing on each other and their races.
I dont know who ya'll are but please be polite and Jack you should prolly apologize for makin that 'culture' comment. It's so childish that we r fighting here what Sachin has done? Does that effect life of Rohit, Jack, or any MWCC player?

I wish you all a good night..and see ya all tomorrow.

Love for All cultures and players!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jack... You are talkin about one of the icons of world cricket . Ask Warne , Mcgrath and even Lara..they will tell you who Sachin is...Cricket is not a one man team ! if you want to know what Sachin has won ...he is not the team..Its team India... Jus unlucky that India has not won a major tournament yet...

N u want to talk abt Sachin...

In ODIs...out of his 40 centuries , 28 have helped india win the matches and he averages 58 when india wins ! but his actual average is 44.

    In Test matches..
out of his 35 centuries , 27 times india has not lost ! and he averages 69 when india does not lose..

Dont even try n talk abt the genius without knowing the facts !

Your not too friendly comment has irked quite a few i guess and was totally unnecessary too..

First think of what you can do to make your team win ... being in the Div II of a cricket league that too in USA... we hav no right to talk abt GOD of indian cricket !

I'm tempted to break my self-imposed bashing-holiday, but given the diatribe against your literature, I prefer to let you off the hook.

Sachin has won (and earned) the following:

    * Goodwill
    * Respect

what more do u want as a human being...above all he has not published his goals in major newspapers or in this blog!!!

If u talk of Pat Ewing, let me talk of Jordan...he did not get into winning ways without Scottie Pippen or a Horace Grant in the lineup. So, Sachin alone cannot win everything. That's an absurd thought.

    ReplyDelete
  60. in terms of pure victories, Sachin has won few Ranji Trophy championships....still a victory...better than playing some lousy ass teams in Sharjah...

much better than our own coveted Div 2 title that you sourly missed :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. 'I am talking about WC, IC TROPHY and those things.. THE BIG BOYS..'

The so called 'BIG BOYS' cricket has been, still is and always will be TEST cricket, those ODI's are mickey mouse games (on the international level), where a good half an hour can tilt the balance in favor of a team. In test cricket you have to take 20 wickets to win, containing is not enough and then when you beat a team over 2 Inns / 5 days, that means you're really a better team.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That should've been over 4 Inns, not 2!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Mr cheetah
"""your on the verge of starting a India-Paksitan spat which always ends in chaos"""

Where did Pakistan come from in all of this? R u trying to start something?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Jack and some of the other bloggers, we can definitely be more responsible than this.

Please keep in mind that these kind of discussions will destroy the value created by the blog.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Guys, we can all do better than this! Please leave out comments on race/culture etc. Different players have different attitudes (in international and club cricket) and thats what makes it interesting - would be rather boring if everyone was alike!

Jaggi, what's the plan for the all-star showdown? Is it happening this year?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Shiraz's night tourny sounds great but the $500 fee seems a lil too much.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think there is one place somewhere downtown where people play tape ball cricket and they charge ~25/hr. May thats what shiraz has in mind.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Myself and Nasir are trying to put together a team too, so we have tentative plans of participating as of right now.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Romeen, you can always bribe him with cute women ;).

    ReplyDelete
  70. Jack, this is for you:

    * few Ranji Trophy championships, as Simondispatch pointed out earlier.
    * Calcutta test against Australia in 2001 in which VVS Laxman scored 281. Sachin turned the game around to take 3 wickets and setup an equalizer. If not for his 3 wickets the game would have ended in a draw! Laxman and Dravid first saved the game, then Sachin won it from there.
    * A century in the Chennai test in the same series that led India to a come-from-behind series victory against the mighty Aussies
    * millions of hearts...not including yours :)

    hansie cronje from the dead:
In ODI's, Raju is right. Of the 40 centuries Sachin scored, 28 of those lead to India's victory...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hw about this weekend's games?

    Any pundits..

    Capitol Vs. AAA......I'd say 50-50.

It would be a very good game.

Adam in top form. Satha in good knock, I sense some good cricket around the corner.

Challengers Vs. Flames - I'd say challengers 60-40.

    ReplyDelete
  72. ICC bashing will stop when ICC boasting stops...has ICC boasting stopped, its for you to answer Jack.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Jack, you are starting to get really annoying - come back when YOU have won something instead of arguing whether Sachin/Warne etc have won anything!

This is your performance on 10/1/06:
    Challenor Jack 7-0-42-1

On the same day under similar conditions (weather was same throughout the day and WP pitches are all new so they're same too) other opening bowlers did this:

    Rupnarine Seenarain 8-0-43-3
    Hafez Adam Menk 8-2-12-1
    Sadik Patel 6.2-0-29-5
    Rizwan Hameed 6-0-38-0
    Moatsim Bajwa 6-0-36-1
    Madanagopal Damodaran 8-1-21-1
    Siddharth Bulusu 7-1-36-1
    Farman Khan 7-2-20-5
    Raheel Akhtar 6-1-27-3

Challengers scorecard is not available, but Daxx who opens the bowling got 4 wkts.

YOU as claimed in an earlier post were going to cause sleepless nights to Div 1 batsmen, I dont think so on the current evidence!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Fellas..

Lets just end this whole mudslinging episode right here...

Nobody has to prove anything to anybody - thats the bottom line....be that Jack, you or me..

Lets move on ...there is plenty of other stuff to be discussed..

Winter cricket...I think is a brilliant concept and am looking forward to that.

Please stop posting anymore negative comments, even if Jack says something, lets ignore that.
Jack, lets call it a day man, no more negative posts..

C'mon fellas, we're all grown ups, so lets start acting like grown ups..

Jaggi, just being a pest here...wassup with the All Star weekend?

Are we still going to have one?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Interesting conversation (speed etc), thank you Alpesh for thinking it was rhythmic even with the 2-3 no balls per over? hehe .. that loose gravel at the bowling end was trouble! Here is what you should get to measure speed:

    http://www.cricketcentre.com.au/Coaching/Balls/CBY11/PLATYPUS%2BSPEED%2BSENSOR%2BBALL.phtml

    ReplyDelete
  76. try this if that link doesn't work:

    http://www.speedsensor.com.au/

you can set the distance and then bowl - the sensors activate when the ball leaves your hand and then from that point it measures the speed for the given distance - the ball is PVC but weighs the same as a regular cricket ball! ;)

  77. What do you all think about the interviews we did with Satha, Shahid & Rup? Should we do interviews like that?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hari - interviews were good...one of them was in a regional language...so let it be in English so that everybody can understand.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Can one of you guys interview Jack?

    ReplyDelete
  80. You got my vote Hari. You and alpesh did an excellent job.

    ReplyDelete
  81. There are a few questions raised about the All-star game. A final decision about the game will be made on Fri morning.

The matting at WP has been put into storage and the only place we can do it would be Hanover Park ground. We have a lot of quality players in our league and chosing just 11 from each division turned out to be quite the headache. We would have pissed off a lot of people.

For next year, the plan is to have a mini-world cup at WP. This way we can chose more players from the pool. The goal is to take a weekend off(not a long weekend), play a bunch of games and have fun.

Somebody also suggested that we also have the champions vs rest of the league, which is not a bad idea.

  82. I say we pick max of two people from each team so we get reps from each team...

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hey jaggi can u please reply to the email i sent to you yesterday. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  84. Best thing to do is just pick the all star team from the teams that made play offs in Div1. (one min and three max players from each play off team).

Thats a good idea, same should be done with Div 2 (quarter final teams).

    ReplyDelete
  85. Oh come on guys...numbers dont tell everything and if MUCC made into playoffs doesnt make Satya a better 'star' than Mehul.
We all know Mehul's bowling and how dangerous he is for the opposition (with his batting and bowling).

Personally, I would choose Mehul over Satya any day and Asif over any spinner in this league.
This is an all star DIV 1 team not all Star Div 1 Playoffs team.
    Right?

  86. Arshad yosaf is the 2nd highest wicket taker in division one ... and Kiran is #4 in runs.

    ReplyDelete
  87. "Thats why I just named some random guys without really thinking about it" LOL

Well then you just be quite.

I hope that MWCC doesnt consider recomendations like these when they make the teams.

    ReplyDelete
  88. devils advocate, How about a poll to select all the 11 star players in each division?

    ReplyDelete
  89. by position...batsman, allrounder, wk, bowler etc?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Arshad Yosaf should umpire the all star game.

  95. I like Cheetah's idea too. So far that is the best one.

Jaggi, My suggestion is that you appoint a coordinator for each division who will be responsible to collect the lists from all the Captains in their divisions by a certain date. We are running out of time this year and need to move fast.

  96. Alpesh,

wake up...the week is almost gone.

  97. Crazy joe, if all the batsmen/bowlers in the top 15 are unique, the total is 15 + 15 = 30, it can't be more than that, may be less if some people are on both lists!

    ReplyDelete
  98. You should've mentioned it like that i the first place ;).

    ReplyDelete
  99. Alpesh's photos have been added. Jaggi has added captions to his set. Hope you all like the photos. We are looking at doing more interviews this Sunday.

  100. Asif is a certainty. Shahid and Kamran (Muslim) should be in as allrounders. Daxx is in too 39 wkts! What about Pradeep (Purdue) 30 wickets and can bat too! Should someone like Nilesh be in ? Good econ rate but not many wickets. Or someone like Arshad Yousaf high econ and more wickets (33). Raheel also has a very high econ rate but 27 wkts if you count playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think based on this season's form, no Challengers batsman will get selected, they have great bowling and fielding, but batting has just been out of sorts all season. Who should make it to the all star batting order:

    Kiran
    Imran
    Sohail
    Adnan
    Hassan
    Bhavneet
    Amit Kumar
    Shahid
    Kamran

    We need:

    2 openers (1,2)
    3 middle order (3,4,5)
    2 allrounders (6,7)
    1 wktkeep/bat (8)
    1 spinner (9)
    2 seam bowlers (10, 11)

    ReplyDelete
  102. According to that structure, and looking at top performers, we can nominate people:

Positions 1,2,3: Kiran, Imran, Sohail, Adnan
    4,5: Bhavneet, Amit, Hassan
6,7: Shahid, Kamran, Mehul, Satya, Bakhshi
    8: Mahesh, Adnan Mobeen
    9: Asif Mahmood (uncontested!)
10,11: Arshad Yousaf, Daxx, Nilesh, Raheel

  106. Adnan,

Playing Asif is not the litmus test for a batsman.
Asif has a good bowling arm, and a very average batting. Everybody now in Midwest have figured him out to play, unless you didnt know what to do with the bat.

Shahid is a complete cricketer at this level.
One cannot say Asif is 1000 times better, Asif is a genuine spin bowler, and a very avg batsman.
but, Shahid is a Genuine bat and bowl and one of the best athletic fielders in our league.

    ReplyDelete
  107. cheetah, just because someone scores quickly does not automatically mean he's a hitter! Shahid has been scoring 400-500 runs for the last 3 seasons, I don't think "hitters" can do that consistently. He does not slog, but has all the shots in the book - I would say he plays more like Kevin Pietersen, Ponting, Gilchrist than Dhoni, Afridi etc (ofcourse at the league level).
